• Error with global variable in php not extending to included php file

  I have an html file that calls has a php section in the header like so: $page = basename($_SERVER['PHP_SELF']); Now further down in the html file I have a included footer like so: <?php include("footer.php"); ?> In this script I am referencing the $page variable, but it doesn't find it. I tried echoing the variable and nothing happened. When I place the basename() code in the footer.php file though, it handled it fine. I'd like to be efficient with the coding, so how can I get the footer.php file to get that $page variable? Is there a better way to do this than including the $page variable twice?

• Inserting a WAV at a certain point in an audio file using python

  My problem is the following: I have a 2-minute long WAV file, and my aim is to insert another WAV file (7 seconds long), at a certain point in the first WAV file (say, 0:48), essentially combining the two WAVs, using python. Unfortunately I haven't been able to figure out how to do that, and was wondering if there was some obvious solution that I was missing, or if it is even feasible to do with python. Is there perhaps a library available that might provide a solution? Thanks to all in advance.

When I press F1 to display this help file and select "Search" tab, type something and click "List Topics" button, both the help window and the entire application freeze. What's interesting when I simply open the *.chm file in the Windows Explorer, the search functionality works brilliantly. In order to display the help file from my application, I am executing: Help.ShowHelp(this, helpFileName); This method is executed from within the main form of the application on the UI thread.

• Perl Script to search and replace in .SQL query file with user inputs

  I have a .SQL file containing a large number of queries. They are being run against a database containing data for multiple states over multiple years. The machine I am running this on can only handle running the queries for one state, in one year, at a time. I am trying to create a Perl script that takes user input for the state abbreviation, the state id number, and the year. It then creates a directory for that state and year. Then it opens the "base" .SQL file and searches and replaces the base state id and year with the user input, and saves this new .SQL file to the created directory. The current script I have (below) stops at open(IN,'<$infile') with "Can't open [filename]" It seems that it is having difficulty finding or opening the .SQL file. I have quadruple-checked to make sure the paths are correct, and I have even tried replacing the $path with an absolute path for the base file.   Hi everybody, I'm using the python logging module with the "native" configuration file support (config.fileconfig) as describe in the documentation here : http://docs.python.org/library/logging.html (see the logging.conf file) I was wondering if it's possible to supply a tabulated data format in the configuration file? The sample configuration file is the following: [formatter_simpleFormatter] format=%(asctime)s - %(name)s - %(levelname)s - %(message)s I though that using the \t in the format would be enough but it doesn't. format=%(asctime)s\t%(name)s\t%(levelname)s\t%(message)s\t If I do so it print \t in the result. I tried a couple of thing without success. I suppose it's really easy to do but I don't find it! How can I do that?

  Is there a way to open multiple AI files (say 3 individual files) and somehow save in a way that I can open the same 3 files simultaneously in the future? I always want the multiple files to open together. Situation: We design products with AI. A single product may have multiple versions. The designer typically creates 1 AI file, then puts all versions of the product in the single file. I need them to put each version in a separate file for an integration project, but this creates more work for them. The solution I'm looking for would allow them to open all the relevant AI file and somehow same them all as a group. Next time, they open the group and all AI files open together. Thank you

• accessing specific icons from a Multi-Icon (.ico) file

  Dear community. I would like to know if the following is possible. I have an .ico file, containing several sizes and color depths. However, it also contains some custom made sizes, that are going to be used inside my application. The application accesses the icon trough a resource DLL. (The intention is that the DLL is provided by a third party developer) Is there any way to pinpoint exactly which of the icons in the .ico file to use in my application? Like I want this size to appear here on my GUI etc. For instance, I am making a button in my application, and I would like my custom made 15*32 icon from my .ico file to be displayed on the button. I know this is possible by adding the bitmaps one at a time to the resource DLL, giving each of them a unique name. But it would be easier, if I am able to identify the different contents of the icon file instead. Is it possible in some way to look at the icon file as an array of icons or something like that? Any help is much appreciated. It seems quite hard to find information about this subject on the web. Oh, and I am writing my application in C#, using MFC DLL (from Visual C++ to create my resource DLL)

• Better way to download a binary file?

  I have a site where a user can download a file. Some files are extremely large (the largest being 323 MB). When I test it to try and download this file I get an out of memory exception. The only way I know to download the file is below. The reason I'm using the code below is because the URL is encoded and I can't let the user link directly to the file. Is there another way to download this file without having to read the whole thing into a byte array?   I'm currently using the magento admin interface, trying to upload an image in the "manage products" and I get the error "file was not uploaded" after I browse the file and click "upload file". I've looked on other forums and the main solution I saw were to make sure that php.ini has the following lines... magic_quotes_gpc = off short_open_tag = on extension=pdo.so extension=pdo_mysql.so I have Windows/IIS with ISAPI_Rewrite. Is there a max file upload size that I can change somewhere. I'm uploading pictures from my local desktop of size ~100kb. help!

I'm wanting to write a new log file viewer that addresses this problem. What are the best practices for writing viewers for large text files? How does editors like notepad++ and VIM acomplish this? I was thinking of using a buffered Bi-directional text stream reader together with Java's TableModel. Am I thinking along the right lines and are such stream implementations available for Java?

  Hi, I use Zend forms in my web application. I wonder where Zend puts uploded temp file by default ? I can't find it in server tmp dir. For example if I upload image(1.jpg) via file field, it appears on tmp folder, but as 1.jpg(/tmp/1.jpg). But I need temporary file like /tmp/phpeZApBn. Maybe it is in any other location ?   No matter what I do I cannot get either of these local File URIs: <a href="file://C:/Folder/">...</a> <a href="file://C|/Folder/">...</a> <a href="C:\">...</a> ... ...to work in IE7 (on Vista). I've tried putting the site in different zones (Local Intranet, Trusted Sites), turning on/off Protected Mode and fiddling with the security settings for the active zone. I've also tried many variations of the URI. But when I click the links, nothing happens. No errors either. Well-formed file URIs to the local file system work in all other browsers I've tried, including IE6 and IE8. I've also gathered from what I've read on the web that this should work. Also, the following JavaScript results in an access-denied error, regardless of zone/settings: <a href="#" onclick="return window.open('C:\\Folder\\');">#</a> Did this stop working in the latest IE7 and/or the latest Vista, or something? And if so, why is it working again in IE8 on Windows 7? Is there a workaround of some kind? (I don't know how to test with IE7 on anything other than Vista.)
