I have looked for about 5 hours for a solution to hosting my plist file on my freewebs acount and have the application update the plist file on launch. Can anyone help me please. • Need help in downloading file with header() function

  Hi. I'm trying to explain as best as I can, sorry for my English. I have a list of links, each linked to a php file with an id by parameters (ex. download.php?id=1 or ?id=2 and so on). This file create a new instance of a class witch return the correct header of the files so it displays the save dialog box of the browser. Now I need to check if the files is already downloaded in past (The first time you downloaded it I add a field on the mysql db). This checks go ahead if you haven't download the files, else return false. Here is the problem, when it returns false or something else the browser redirect me to the download.php file, so I get a blank page or what I'm echoing. I need that if the file is already download it show me a js alert for advice ppl. Hope you can understand what i mean. Thanks for help

I am deploying the war to JBoss 5.1 and the jar in question contains a persistence.xml file that I don't want.   I have a large raw data file (up to 1GB) which contains raw samples from a USB data logger. I need to store extra information relating to the file (sample rate, description, trigger point, last seek position etc) and was looking into adding this as a some sort of header. The header file should ideally be human readable and flexible so I've so far ruled out some sort of binary serialization into a header. I also want to avoid two separate files as they could end up separated when copied or backed up. I remembered somebody telling me that newer *.*x Microsoft Office documents are actually a number of files in a zip. Is there a simple way to achieve this? Could I still keep the quick seek times to the raw file?

  I'm working on a web app for my company that will let us do some image tagging stuff, and I'd like to be able to generates results in the form of a CSV file. I can do this easily enough by dumping the CSV data to a div or something on the page and having the user copy it out. I'd rather have them hit the a generate button and have a CSV file downloaded as though they clicked on a link to the result, so they can more easily just save the file somewhere convenient. Is it possible to simulate this kind of thing with javascript? I basically want to dynamically generate the file and then let them download it, client side.

  Hi, I just started programming in C# and using WPF so pardon my ignorance. I'm creating an WPF application where I need to dynamically make a grid. The grid headers will be different every time based on information in the text file and I will only need this grid if the user opens it. So right now, I'm able to brows for a file and get the path. Then after I create a datagrid, like this: //Create a new data grid DataGrid datagrid1 = new DataGrid(); Master.Children.Add(datagrid1); Grid.SetRow(datagrid1, 1); Grid.SetColumn(datagrid1, 1); Now, I have issues accessing the file and populating the grid. How would I be able to do this in C#? It seems the browser make me wait until the file is completed downloaded, and then I have the open/save dialog box. I expected the dialog box immediately, and then the progress bar in action... Maybe I have to add something in the Http header... Something like the size of the file?

  During development of some Excel vba code about every other iteration where I go in and add some code then save the file, the next time I open the thing (it is automatically set to run the code on open) I get a spurious "File not Found" error. To fix it I copy all the code- modules and classes plus the startup code, to a fresh blank excel file save it and it runs fine. This happens in both Excel 2003 and 2007. What is happening here?

  I've created a custom solution in WordPress that will generate a CSV file to be downloaded by clicking a simple hyperlink, linked directly to this file. Instead of being prompted to download the file to the computer; the CSV opens in the the browser window instead. FWIW I'm on Media Temple using a vanilla install of WordPress.

  I want to render (for internal debugging/info) the last modified date of an assembly, so I know when was a certain website deployed. Is it possible to get it though reflection? I get the version like this, I'm looking for something similar: Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly().GetName().Version.ToString(); ie: I don't want to open the physical file, get its properties, or something like that, as I'll be rendering it in the master page, and don't want that kind of overhead.

  I've been investigating possibilities on editing remote files from a website without having a need to download and upload the files manually while editing. So far I've ruled out WebDAV as a possibility since it is cumbersome to use on any platform (it either requires manual setup or works unreliably). Currently I'm looking in to various Applets, but they mostly target either uploading or downloading, not file editing. What I'm currently looking for is an applet that downloads the document, launches the application that is meant to open the file and then monitors the file for changes and uploads the changed file (either automatically or by prompting the user first). I know that I'm not alone with this scenario, so i'm looking for solutions that others have thought of.

The output I get is Thu Jan 1 00:00:00 1970 for every line. I think the line breaks are being picked up and that is why it is not working. Any ideas? I'm using Mac OSX is that makes any difference.

The Windows Error thrown seems to suggest the file is in use... could it be that the tests are run in parallel threads? • Streaming data to the browser as a file of unknown size

  I have some data which is queried from the database and I'd like to send it to the client as a csv file. The file size varies each time due to the fact that the DB data returned can be of any size. Instead of saving this file to the hard disk, I'd like to send it to the browser at the same time it's being processed into a CSV by my algorithm. Response.Write seems useless. For some reason, the file download dialog is only displayed once my processing is finished. This seems odd as I'm writting all my output to the Response.Output stream. I have downloaded files on the web before where the filesize is not known and the browser just keeps on downloading. Is there any way to achieve this?
