  • Is HTML5 the new buzzword? ( Web 2.0 was the old one )

    Your thoughts on this? I'm hearing more and more people saying things like: "Is it html 5 compatible" "Can I make my website html 5" "Other html 5 question here..." What do you guys think? Is html5 the new buzzword? Obviously, it's more than a fad. It is the way things are going. But it seems like it's catching on in the mainstream. I don't think it will get as big as Web 2.0, mind you. Thought I'd ask a light question this Tuesday

  • Reduce Mac OS X's Flash CPU usage

    I have been experiencing high CPU usage (138%) on my MacBook, while looking at flash videos on the internet with the Firefox browser. Mostly this usage makes itself noticeable by the loud noise of the fans and a hot MacBook which is very annoying for me. Does anyone know how to solve this problem or a workaround in of any kind?

  • How to find missing web part ?

    Does anybody know how to find offending web part which causes this error ? “A Web Part or Web Form Control on this Web Part Page cannot be displayed or imported because it is not registered on this site as safe.” I have inherited an old SharePoint 2003 portal site which uses custom web parts. I know what this error means. I also know that each web part must be installed and registred as safe in web.config. The problem is that I don't know which one is missing. I get same error when I'm trying to open the page in FrontPage as well.

  • SharePoint web part not displaying for site readers

    Hello - I've built a custom SharePoint 2010 web part and deployed it to the home page of a publishing site. It's a very simple web part that just displays items from a SP list in a drop down list. The web part works fine if I'm logged in as a site owner or a member but not if I'm just a reader. The web part doesn't render at all to readers. I don't get any of the web part chrome or title, just nothing. I have other web parts (out-of-box ones) in the same zone that are displaying fine so it's not an issue of the whole zone not displaying. As a reader, I can still view the list directly so it doesn't appear to be a problem with list permissions. My web parts are being deployed as a farm solution, not sand-boxed and the assembly is being deployed to the GAC. I feel like I must be missing something simple here but I'm stumped. Help.

And here it is: Download Speed: 422 kbps (52.8 KB/sec transfer rate) Upload Speed: 202 kbps (25.3 KB/sec transfer rate) Can you please explain to me how did they get the 52.8 transfer rate. And how do I get to lower the upload speed in order for me to get higher download speed.

  • WiFi connection help(Kali Linux)

    Ok so here's my problem. I CAN connect to my router using my passphrase. Everything goes through just fine, but I can't use anything that requires an internet connection (apt-get, Iceweasel). My router is properly configured as all other devices work fine. I can't even get into my router's configuration page or view anything else on the LAN. Also, yes I'm sure the security type is set to the correct type.

    I'm wondering if there are any good non-native form inputs for web development? I am currently using the built in <input> controls. They work just fine, but for my application they are too big (especially on OS X). I am wondering if there are any libraries that I can drop in as replacements. I am especially interested in ones that: Are a close to native control behavior as possible. Support for tabbing, highlighting current textbox, pressing up/down in <select>, etc. Have something that replicates <select> Look good and are compact I am aware that you can use CSS for some styling, but it's pretty minimal and looks different depending on the browser.   • Need a redistributable edition of Free AVG

    So, I'm trying to install AVG on someone else's computer (with permission, I promise!) but their internet connection is spotty. The d/l is stopped and sent back to square one when the line goes down, so I need to download it from a good terminal, and then shove it on a flash drive or something and give it to them. Does anyone know of a place where I can download the full program--not just the installer?

Which one do you think is best for starting to do real world coding the fastest? I really think coding from your browser will make programming more accessible to the public. Are there any out there that use a vim style, (e.g. jsvi) in combination with free server side hosting? The last time I looked at Bespin it was a little green. Are there others?

    Hi all, I read some paragraphs in a book saying that it is not possible to do a partial postback for web, even AJAX is employed. Ajax will postback everything and update only ajaxfied controls. However, on pages I made using ajax, I used Fiddler to monitor the transportation. I found when the page initial load, it loaded everything include pictures .... However, when I click a button and do a ajax postback. I can only see the some data were loaded.... Looks like it doesn't need to reload the whole page again. I don't know if what I see is correct? Or the book I read is correct? Thank you guys.

    I'm trying to convince my co-workers to switch from a web site project to a web application project, because I want the use of the project file. However I can't diffuse this argument against: The web site project allows each page to be compiled into a single dll. Their argument is this enables easy fixing of errors found after publishing. This is contrast to how the web application project compiles all code behind into a single dll. Is updating a single page's dll essentially different to updating the entire site's dll? Is there some way to compile each page's code behind into a seperate dll in the web application project? Are there some prohibitive (performance,memory?) costs to compiling each page's code behind into seperate dll's that we are unaware of? Why is the feature(?) to compile each page to separate dlls in web site projects and not web app projects?

    Say I have a simple client/server scenario with one method: // client code $client = new SoapCLient("service.wsdl"); $result = $client.getPi(); ... // server code function getPi(){ return 3.141; } $server = new SoapServer("service.wsdl"); $server.addFunction("getPi"); $server.handle(); Am I right in thinking that when the client makes a call to the getPi() method the addfunction() gets called everytime?     Hello, I'm learning JQuery and am about to write some pages using intensively that library. I just learned that some user disable javascript on their browser (I didn't even know that was possible and/or necessary). Now, here's my question: What happens to my web application if a user disable Javascript? For instance, I'd like to display some screens using Ajax and commands such as 'InsertBefore' to bring in live a DIV that will display the result. So, if Javascript is disabled, I wonder what going to happen to all this work that relies on Javascript? I'm kind of lost. Thanks for helping
