  • No mapping for LONGVARCHAR in Hibernate 3.2

    - by jimbokun
I am running Hibernate 3.2.0 with MySQL 5.1. After updating the group_concat_max_len in MySQL (because of a group_concat query that was exceeding the default value), I got the following exception when executing a SQLQuery with a group_concat clause: "No Dialect mapping for JDBC type: -1" -1 is the java.sql.Types value for LONGVARCHAR. Evidently, increasing the group_concat_max_len value causes calls to group_concat to return a LONGVARCHAR value. This appears to be an instance of this bug: http://opensource.atlassian.com/projects/hibernate/browse/HHH-3892 I guess there is a fix for this issue in Hibernate 3.5, but that is still a development version, so I am hesitant to put it into production, and don't know if it would cause issues for other parts of my code base. I could also just use JDBC queries, but then I have to replace every instance of a SQLQuery with a group_concat clause. Any other suggestions?

  • Is there a way to have three way habtm associations in rails / activerecord?

    - by txwikinger
Often three (or more) way associations are needed for habtm associations. For instance a permission model with roles. A particular area of functionality has many users which can access many areas. The permissions on the area are setup via roles (habtm) The user/roles association is also habtm The permissions (read, write, delete, etc) are habtm towards roles. How would that be best done with rails/activerecord?

  • When to use reflection to convert datarow to an object

    - by Daniel McNulty
I'm in a situation now were I need to convert a datarow I've fetched from a query into a new instance of an object. I can do the obvious looping through columns and 'manually' assign these to properties of the object - or I can look into reflection such as this: http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/11914/Using-Reflection-to-convert-DataRows-to-objects-or What would I base the decision on? Just scalability??

  • Hibernate not loading associated object

    Hi, i am trying to load a hibernate object ForumMessage but in it contain another object Users and the Users object is not being loaded. My ForumMessage Mapping File: <?xml version="1.0"?> <!DOCTYPE hibernate-mapping PUBLIC "-//Hibernate/Hibernate Mapping DTD 3.0//EN" "http://hibernate.sourceforge.net/hibernate-mapping-3.0.dtd"> <!-- Generated Jan 4, 2011 10:10:29 AM by Hibernate Tools 3.4.0.Beta1 --> <hibernate-mapping> <class name="com.BiddingSystem.Models.ForumMessage" table="FORUMMESSAGE"> <id name="ForumMessageId" type="long"> <column name="FORUMMESSAGEID" /> <generator class="native" /> </id> <property name="ForumMessage" type="java.lang.String"> <column name="FORUMMESSAGE" /> </property> <many-to-one name="User" class="com.BiddingSystem.Models.Users" fetch="join"> <column name="UserId" /> </many-to-one> <property name="DatePosted" type="java.util.Date"> <column name="DATEPOSTED" /> </property> <many-to-one name="Topic" class="com.BiddingSystem.Models.ForumTopic" fetch="join"> <column name="TopicId" /> </many-to-one> </class> </hibernate-mapping> and I am using the follwing code: Session session = gileadHibernateUtil.getSessionFactory().openSession(); SQL="from ForumMessage"; System.out.println(SQL); Query query=session.createQuery(SQL); System.out.println(query.list().size()); return new LinkedList <ForumMessage>(query.list());

  • Hibernate Relationship Mapping/Speed up batch inserts

    - by manyxcxi
I have 5 MySQL InnoDB tables: Test,InputInvoice,InputLine,OutputInvoice,OutputLine and each is mapped and functioning in Hibernate. I have played with using StatelessSession/Session, and JDBC batch size. I have removed any generator classes to let MySQL handle the id generation- but it is still performing quite slow. Each of those tables is represented in a java class, and mapped in hibernate accordingly. Currently when it comes time to write the data out, I loop through the objects and do a session.save(Object) or session.insert(Object) if I'm using StatelessSession. I also do a flush and clear (when using Session) when my line count reaches the max jdbc batch size (50). Would it be faster if I had these in a 'parent' class that held the objects and did a session.save(master) instead of each one? If I had them in a master/container class, how would I map that in hibernate to reflect the relationship? The container class wouldn't actually be a table of it's own, but a relationship all based on two indexes run_id (int) and line (int). Another direction would be: How do I get Hibernate to do a multi-row insert?

  • Process for Upgrading from RedBean 3.5 to RedBean 4

    - by Jay Haase
I am currently using RedBean version 3.5. I think I would like to move to the latest version of RedBean, version 4. I have found no documentation about upgrade process and have a number of significant questions: Is my RedBean 3.5 database schema compatible 4, or will up have to migrate all of the tables to some new format? Is any of my RedBean 3.5 code compatible with version 4, or wouldI need to rewrite all of my code that uses RedBean 3.5? Would it make more sense to upgrade to Doctrine? As a side note, I am also feeling concerned about RedBean's drop of support for Composer, which I have found to be über helpful in managing the various versions of libraries I am using.

  • hibernate.properties classpath conflict

    - by Adam B
I have a jar on the classpath which contains a hibernate.properties. This causes problems when my app starts because hibernate tries to use the settings from this file. Is there a way to explicitly specify the file that hibernate should look for, or tell it to ignore the properties file in the dependency jar?

  • how to make a simple database app in android?

    - by Iakovl
i am not an android developer, prefer C# but i want to play with andorid a bit since i have a android device, apologize in advance for it. i want to make a simple app in android with the basic CRUD functions (create, read, update and delete) while the basic option is to use SQLiteOpenHelper i've seen DAO generators (like greenDAO) that make life more simple as i see it. so the first question is what DAOgenerator to use (if it all)? next is how to properly show it, while i know i need listview i still don't figure out exactly how to bind the database to it and to the querys i'll make for proper display each time i make a new query from a "search" screen, to the main "list display" screen

  • Q&amp;A: Will my favourite ORM Foo work with SQL Azure?

    - by Eric Nelson
short answer: Quite probably, as SQL Azure is very similar to SQL Server longer answer: Object Relational Mappers (ORMs) that work with SQL Server are likely but not guaranteed to work with SQL Azure. The differences between the RDBMS versions are small – but may cause problems, for example in tools used to create the mapping between objects and tables or in generated SQL from the ORM which expects “certain things” :-) More specifically: ADO.NET Entity Framework / LINQ to Entities can be used with SQL Azure, but the Visual Studio designer does not currently work. You will need to point the designer at a version of your database running of SQL Server to create the mapping, then change the connection details to run against SQL Azure. LINQ to SQL has similar issues to ADO.NET Entity Framework above NHibernate can be used against SQL Azure DevExpress XPO supports SQL Azure from version 9.3 DataObjects.Net supports SQL Azure Open Access from Telerik works “seamlessly”  - their words not mine :-) The list above is by no means comprehensive – please leave a comment with details of other ORMs that work (or do not work) with SQL Azure. • Cannot reinstall Windows on Toughbook CF-19, OEM or upgrade issue?

    - by j03lar50n
My Toughbook (CF-19) has a 'Windows Vista Business OEMAct, Panasonic' COA on the bottom of the unit. When I extracted the key before reformatting - it was a 'Windows XP Professional' Product Name and the Product ID code has 'OEM' in it...and I can confirm this upgrade was last OS installed (w/ Service Pack 3) - but there was the tablet functionality. This extracted product key isn't working with any version of Windows I try installing. XP Pro, XP Pro Tablet 2005 OEM, Tablet XP OEM. Any insights?

  • T42 Thinkpad, USB boot, CF for programs and storage?

    - by Tom K.
Is this feasible? I have a Thinkpad T40. I'd like to get one of the tiny USB drives (like the Verbatim Store 'n' Stay series) of sufficient size to handle basic Linux OS booting (8GB?), then put 16Gb or greater memory card (SD or CF) in the PCMCIA slot with appropriate adapter for additional application programs and data storage. I know I could get a used or refurb HD, but I've had reliability issues in the past. I don't believe that new IDE drives are available.

  • Cacti rrdtool graph with no values, NaN in .rrd file

    - by beicha
Cacti 0.8.7h, with latest RRDTool. I successfully graphed CPU/Interface traffic, but got blank graphs like when it comes to Memory/Temperature monitoring. The problem/bug is actually archived here, however this post didn't help. I can snmpget the value, e.g SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.9.9.13.1.3.1.3.1 = Gauge32: 26. • Default class for SQLAlchemy single table inheritance

    - by eclaird
I've set up a single table inheritance, but I need a "default" class to use when an unknown polymorphic identity is encountered. The database is not in my control and so the data can be pretty much anything. A working example setup: import sqlalchemy as sa from sqlalchemy import orm engine = sa.create_engine('sqlite://') metadata = sa.MetaData(bind=engine) table = sa.Table('example_types', metadata, sa.Column('id', sa.Integer, primary_key=True), sa.Column('type', sa.Integer), ) metadata.create_all() class BaseType(object): pass class TypeA(BaseType): pass class TypeB(BaseType): pass base_mapper = orm.mapper(BaseType, table, polymorphic_on=table.c.type, polymorphic_identity=None, ) orm.mapper(TypeA, inherits=base_mapper, polymorphic_identity='A', ) orm.mapper(TypeB, inherits=base_mapper, polymorphic_identity='B', ) Session = orm.sessionmaker(autocommit=False, autoflush=False) session = Session() Now, if I insert a new unmapped identity... engine.execute('INSERT INTO EXAMPLE_TYPES (TYPE) VALUES (\'C\')') session.query(BaseType).first() ...things break. Traceback (most recent call last): File "<stdin>", line 1, in <module> File ".../SQLAlchemy-0.6.5-py2.6.egg/sqlalchemy/orm/query.py", line 1619, in first ret = list(self[0:1]) File ".../SQLAlchemy-0.6.5-py2.6.egg/sqlalchemy/orm/query.py", line 1528, in __getitem__ return list(res) File ".../SQLAlchemy-0.6.5-py2.6.egg/sqlalchemy/orm/query.py", line 1797, in instances rows = [process[0](row, None) for row in fetch] File ".../SQLAlchemy-0.6.5-py2.6.egg/sqlalchemy/orm/mapper.py", line 2179, in _instance _instance = polymorphic_instances[discriminator] File ".../SQLAlchemy-0.6.5-py2.6.egg/sqlalchemy/util.py", line 83, in __missing__ self[key] = val = self.creator(key) File ".../SQLAlchemy-0.6.5-py2.6.egg/sqlalchemy/orm/mapper.py", line 2341, in configure_subclass_mapper discriminator) AssertionError: No such polymorphic_identity u'C' is defined What I expected: >>> result = session.query(BaseType).first() >>> result <BaseType object at 0x1c8db70> >>> result.type u'C' I think this used to work with some older version of SQLAlchemy, but I haven't been keeping up with the development lately. Any pointers on how to accomplish this?

  • "tar -cfz" versus "tar cf - | gzip": are they different? (or how to improve a backup)

    - by I'm Dario
I want to speed up my backup done with "tar -cfz", the common way to do it. But day by day my backed up files grow so it becomes slower. I was thinking to take advantage of the several cores available in my server and I was wondering if there is any difference between doing the backup with "tar -cfz" or piping tar to gzip ("tar cf - | gzip"). I guess that there isn't any difference, because the first spawns two processes (tar and gzip), in a similar way like piping it. If there is not difference, do you know any good alternative to do this, without going incremental? I'm looking at pigz too and it looks fine.

  • postfix 5.7.1 Relay access denied when sending mail with cron

    - by zensys
Reluctant to ask because there is so much here about 'postfix relay access denied' but I cannot find my case: I use php (Zend Framework) to send emails outside my network using the Google mail server because I could not send mail outside my server (user: web). However when I sent out an email via cron (user: root, I believe), still using ZF, using the same mail config/credentials, I get the message: '5.7.1 Relay access denied' I guess I need to know one of two things: 1. How can I use the google smtp server from cron 2. What do I need to change in my config to send mail using my own server instead of google Though the answer to 2. is the more structural solution I assume, I am quite happy with an answer to 1. as well because I think Google is better at server maintaince (security/spam) than I am. • wireless blocked after installing ubuntu 12.04

    - by Cornelia Frank
I am using a lenovo S10-3 ideapad; had no problems with earlier version of ubuntu, only since installing 12.04. Have looked through many of the questions on the same issue and tried potential solutions but cannot seem to solve my problem. The hardware switch is in 'on' position and the wireless light comes on very briefly (2-3 sec) when the laptop starts up but then goes off and stays off. Pressing FN+F5 does nothing at all. I'd be grateful for any assistance.
