  • VPS with multiple domains, can EXIM send mail from a different domain?

    I building a site for a client on a VPS running CentOS 5.5 with cPanel WMH 11.28.60. The original domain is XXXXXinvestmenttrust.com. He has about a dozen domains on this server. The site I am building will have confirmation emails as well as provide users to anonymize their email address (like craigslist) I set up email piping to forward emails, but they are all being trapped in the spam folder. A close look at the headers, the emails appear to be comming from [email protected] rather than the actual domain. The IP has a rating of Neutral on www.senderbase.com. I believe it is the conflicting information in the header (the fields set by me, specify the actual domain where the headers put in place by EXIM specify to name of the server) Somewhere I read about SPF & MX entries can fix this, but I have been unable to figure out how. Also, All of the domains use the same IP, and the other websites do not send emails. So I could possibly make the domain in question, the primary (where all emails are sent from that domain by default) Is that possible?

    I only realised this afternoon that the ZIP format has a limit of what appears to be around 20gb. I am trying to automate an archive process (using Automate) to zip/rar/whatever a collection of folders/files on one of my disks. It always appeared to bomb out with an incomplete archive at about 20gb. So I tried using WinRAR and doing it manually as a ZIP file, but it told me of the limit. So, I was wondering, what is a recommended zip format (and tool for accomplishing the task) for archiving up a large amount of data (around 50gb)? Thanks

  • find directories in the current directory, older than 5 days and archive them

    This is basic questions. I need to find folders in the current working directory(not recursively) and if they are older than 5 days archive them. zip or tar.gz is fine. I can find the folders with following commands find ./ -maxdepth 1 -type d -mtime +5 And i know i can pass this output of the find using xargs. But i do not know how to archive with folder name intact. That is the directory test1 should be archived to test1.zip and directory "test2" should be archived to "test2.zip". Any inputs are welcome.     Why is Evolution the default mail/calendar package that comes with Ubuntu? Why not Thunderbird + Lightning? Are there any features in Evolution that are not available in Thunderbird + Lightning? Can I use the Evolution database via a Samba network share, on a Windows XP or 7 client, just like I can do with Thunderbird? What happens if I uninstall Evolution from my 10.04 system? Will I lose any integrated functionality built into the system?

  • Gnome Shell Thunderbird Mail Notification

    Does anyone know of a way to get persistent Gnome 3 panel notifications in Gnome 3 in Oneiric? It's one of the few things holding me back from using Gnome 3 regularly. I've actually found a way of moving the notifications from the (usually) hidden bottom bar to the top, but it does not move the Thunderbird icon. The icon also only tends to appear the first time mail is received. I'm very surprised this basic piece of functionality doesn't exist for Gnome Shell.

  • Exchange 2010, Exchange 2003 Mail Flow issue

    While performing the initial Exchange 2010 deployment for a customer migrating from Exchange 2003, I ran into an issue with mail flow between the two environments.  The Exchange 2003 mailboxes could send to Exchange 2010, as well as to and from the internet.  Exchange 2010 mailboxes could send and receive to the internet, however they could not send to Exchange 2003 mailboxes.   After scouring the internet for a solution, it seemed quite a few people were experiencing this issue with no resolution to be found, or at least not easily.  After many attempts of manually deleting and recreating the routing group connectors,  I finally lucked onto the answer in an obscure comment left to another blogger.   If inheritable permissions are not allowed on the Exchange 2003 object in the Active Directory schema, exchange server authentication cannot be achieved between the servers.   It seems when Blackberry Enterprise Server gets added to 2003 environments, a lot of Admins get tricky and add the BES Admin user explicitly to the server object  to allow  inheritance down from there to all mailboxes.  The problem is they also coincidently turn off inheritance to the server object itself from its parent containers.  You can re-establish inheritance without overwriting the existing ACL however so that the BES Admin can remain in the server object ACL.   By re-establishing inheritance to the 2003 server object, mail flow was instantly restored between the servers.    To re-establish inheritance: 1. Open ASDIedit by adding the snap-in to a MMC (should be included on your 2008 server where Exchange 2010 is installed) 2. Navigate to Configuration > Services > Microsoft Exchange > Exchange Organization > Administrative Groups > First Administrative Group > Servers 3. In the right pane, right click on the CN=Server Name of your Exchange 2003 Server, select properties 4. Navigate to the Security tab, hit advanced toward the bottom. 5. Check the checkbox that reads “include inheritable permissions” toward the bottom of the dialogue box.

  • How to avoid clobbering files when creating a tar archive

    This question notes that it is possible to overwrite files when creating a tar archive, and I'm trying to see how to avoid that situation. Normally, I'd use file roller, but the version installed is playing up a bit (using 1.1 Gb of memory), and I'm not the system administrator. I looked at --confirmation and --interactive, but that only asks me if I want to add file x to the archive, not whether I want to overwrite an existing file. For example, tar --interactive -czvf innocent_text_file.txt foo* Will ask me about each file, but is perfectly happy to overwrite innocent_text_file.txt Is there any switch that acts like -i for cp? Note I am asking about creating an archive, not extracting an archive. Clarification What I'm worried about is accidentally doing something like this tar -czvf * #Don't do this! which would overwrite the first file listed in the glob. To avoid it, I want tar to complain if the first file mentioned already exists, like cp -i * #Don't do this! would check if it would cause you to overwrite an existing file.

    I want to create an application that gets all e-mails from an e-mail account using imap. When I first run the application I get all mails, than if I run it again I want to mark the messages that was read before so I can receive only new messages. I found that Message Object contains Flags(System Flags and User defined flags), but I can't manage to set one user defined flag. It is possible to mark the messages received by my application on the e-mail account, or I have to retain all message ids and every time when I get messages from imap I have to compare their id with retained ids and get only the messages that has different ids?

  • Add zip files from one archive to another using command line

    I have two zip archives. Say, set1 has 10 csv files created using Mac OS X 10.5.8 compress option, and set2 has 4 csv files similarly created. I want to take the 4 files from zipped archive set2 and add them to list of files in archive set1. Is there a way I can do that? I tried the following in Terminal: zip set1.zip set2.zip This adds the whole archive set2.zip to set1.zip, i.e., in set1.zip now I have: file1.csv, file2.csv,..., file10.csv, set2.zip What I instead want is: file1.csv, file2.csv,..., file10.csv, file11.csv, ..., file14.csv where, set2.zip is the archive containing file11.csv, ..., file14.csv. Thanks.
