• Is programming in PHP easy?

  PHP is considered as an easy language of all, Why? Being an php developer, I haven't use any other language that much. And I know with php we gotta learn so much other things also like javascript ajax xml database jquery + all the cms like joomla, drupal, phpbb etc etc. And in web worls u always had to learn injecting maps, calendars, payment gatewaysetc Do learning other languages have these much dependencies? And if php easy than isn't it good thing to have easy language. I can't imagine to built a website in assembly language(Is it possible?)

• Save downloaded content when in app purchase is complete

  Hello experts! I have created an app which allows users to buy non-consumable content. The retrieving-ids-payment-process works like a charm. What i can't really figure out is how my content should be saved into the phone. The existing structure is that I have all my current content in Resources/packages/. For every package there is an matching entry in a package.plist. When the purchase is complete it is time to download the content from the server. What i retrieve from the server is a zip file with the new package that I have bought. My observer will call a method named provideContent: -(void) provideContent: (NSString*) productIdentifier { In here I will call my server and download the package } What i need from you guys is some sort of step by step walkthrough or tutorial of how, when the zip is retrieved(is zip allowed?), unpack this zip and add it to my current package structure. • Using string.Format for simple things?

  In my early .Net programming days, I used string.Format() only for complex string concatenations, for example to compile strings as Problem with customer order 234 of date 2/2/2002 and payment id 55543. But now I use string.Format for almost every string concatenation I have to do, also simple ones such as prefixing a string with something. Console.WriteLine(string.Format("\t\t{0}", myString)); Is there any possible overhead on this? Maybe I should use the regular + operator to do these simple operations? What's your opinion on this?

• Django with custom authentication backends, is Csrf middleware really required ?

  Hello, Under Django 1.1.1, I am using several authentication backends such as social-registration for facebook connect and django-emailauth for email based authentication instead of user names. I am curious if the Csrf middleware is an essential security measure as it seems like it sometimes generates problems, especially with facebook connect. My project is rather simple. Each user have a profile which they can fill and a purchase page where they fill the payment for to do purchases. Either of these pages are protected via @login_required.

• Translating external api results in Drupal

  We're building a multi-language Drupal stack and one of the concerns we have is that our payment processor is going to have to send back some information to us. We've been able to narrow this down so that the strings they're sending back look like <country code>-<number of months> so we can easily translate that into any number of languages, except English. t('FR-12') is all well and good if we want to translate that into a french description, but because there's not an English language a similar string like t('EN-12') is not translatable. Similarly for the generic string: #API_Connection_Error This sort of generic string approach seemed really compelling to me at first but it seems to not work in Drupal. Do you have any suggestions about how to translate generic strings like this into both English and other languages? Thank you, I've been looking through Google all morning.

• SharePoint : https area in a public website

  I'm working on a public website that was built using SharePoint (WSS). We need to add an area in the site where people will be able to purchase items with their credit cards and obviously the area needs to be secured. The website is using Form Based Authentication and the users need to stay logged in when they are moved back and forth from the https zone. I know how to enable SSL for a new web application / site collection but this isn't really an option for me as the website is already online and we don't want the whole thing to be secured. I am comfortable with the development of the webparts involved (payment module, shopping cart, etc.) but I can't really figure out how to create only certain https pages when the site collection is created. Can you have features that deploy pages that are secured? If so, how? Can you have a zone where SSL is enabled but where the users are redirected to and from without losing their authentication (FBA)? Thanks!

• How can Request Validation be disabled for HttpHandlers?

  Is it possible to disable request validation for HttpHandlers? A bit of background - I've got an ASP.NET web application using an HttpHandler to receive the payment response from WorldPay. The IIS logs show that the handler is being called correctly from WorldPay, but the code inside the handler is never called. If I create a physical ASPX page and set ValidateRequest=false in the header, and put the same code in the Page_Load method, the code is called without any problems. This solves the problem, though I'd prefer to stick with using an HttpHandler for this as it's better suited for this type of functionality, rather than having an empty ASPX page, though this is dependent on being able to disable request validation. The web application is using ASP.NET 2.0 and the server is IIS6.

• Custom Attributes on Class Members

  I am using a Custom Attribute to define how a class's members are mapped to properties for posting as a form post (Payment Gateway). I have the custom attribute working just fine, and am able to get the attribute by "name", but would like to get the attribute by the member itself. For example: getFieldName("name"); vs getFieldName(obj.Name); The plan is to write a method to serialize the class with members into a postable string. • What things on a job listing should be avoided?

  Hello, I'm looking at trying my hand at a bit of freelancing. And looking at some of the listings, I can tell some of them are definitely, obviously wrong. "A web application mimicking youtube. Project must be completed in 2 weeks. Flat payment of $200. If you are not willing to do things this fast paced then do not apply" But some of them are more subtle and they give me a red flag inside, but I'm not sure to avoid them. What are some things in job listings to avoid for freelance programming jobs? What is the reason for avoiding that?

  I have an application that comes bundled with some content(say image, songs etc.). We want to have an in-app store, so that the user can buy contents and extend the experience. What are the different ways in which the above mentioned can be achieved? iPhone has Storekit framework that enables in-app purchases. So, our requirements wants us to follow the suit. Also, according to Android Markets(AM) distribution agreement, an Android application published via AM, is not allowed to accept payments from any Payment collectors other than the one Market provides and/or Google checkout. We have decided to integrate Paypal, now that they have published Mobile Payments Library to Android developers. If we do so, can we publish our application on Android Market?

• What tech stack/platform to use for a project?

  Hey guys, This is a bit of a weird meta-programming question, but I've realized that my new project doesn't need a full MVC framework, and being a rails guy, I'm not sure what to use now. To give you a gist of the necessary functionality; this website will display static pages, but users will be able to log in and 'edit their current plans'. All purchasing and credit card editing is being handled by a recurring payment subscriber, I just need a page to edit their current plan. All of that will be done through (dynamic) XML API calls, so no database is necessary. Should I stick with my typical rails/nginx stack, or is there something I could use that would lighten the load, since I don't need the Rails heft. I'm familiar with python and PHP but would prefer not to go that route. Is Sinatra a good choice here? tl;dr: What's a good way to quickly serve mostly static pages, preferably in Ruby, with some pages requiring dynamic XML rendering?

The design which I have decided is: When cashier selects payment mode as 'Check' or 'Credit Card' open a pop-up. From pop-up, I am calling an Applet through JNLP which implements JPOS API to communicate with POS devices at client machine. When cashier swipes or inserts check, Applet class read them and send the information back to the pop-up window. • View artifacts leaking into the model of MVC

  In an ASP.NET MVC application (which has very little chance of having its view technology ported to something non-HTML, but whose functional requirements evolve weekly,) how much HTML should ideally be allowed to be directly represented in the Model? I might come across as a design bigot for this, but I regard it as bad practice to allow any view constructs to "leak" into the model in an MVC application (and vice versa). For example, a Model that represents an item you're about to purchase should know nothing about the HTML check box that says "add giftwrap/message", nor should it know about any HTML drop down lists for payment card types. Conversely the View shouldn't be doing work like figuring out button text by translating keys into values (by looking in resource files.)

  I have read a lot lately about 'NoSQL' databases such as CouchDB, MongoDB etc. Most of the websites I have seen using this are mainly text based websites such as The New York Times and Source forge. I was wondering if you could apply this to websites where payment is a huge issue. I am thinking of the following issues: How well can you secure the data Do these system provide an easy backup/restore machanism How are transactions handled commit/rollback I have read the following articles that cover some aspects: Can I do transactions and locks in CouchDB? Pros/Cons of document based database vs relational database In these posts the aspect of transactions if covered. However the questions of security and backups is not covered. Can someone shed some light on this subject? And if possible, does anyone know of some e-commerce websites that have successfully implemented the document based database.

• I need to generate credit card surrogates (tokens) that are format preserving.

  For an eCommerce application I need to take a credit card and use the real card for passing through to a payment gateway but I need to store, and return to the transaction initiator, a surrogate that is format preserving. Specifically, this means: 1) The number of digits in the surrogate is the same as the real card number (PAN). 2) The issuer type part of the card -- the initial 1,2 or 4 digits remains the same in the surrogate as in the original PAN. 3) The final 4 digits of the surrogate remain the same (for customer service purposes.) 4) The surrogate passes the Luhn mod10 check for a syntactially valid credit card. I can readily handle requirements 1-3 but #4 has me completely stumped! The final implementation will be either t-sql or c#. Any ideas?

  If invoices can be voided, should they be used as quotations? I have an Invoices tables that is created from inventory associated with a Job or Order. I could have a Quotes table as a halfway-house between inventory and invoices, but it feels like I would have duplicate data structures and logic just to handle an "Is this a quote?" bit. From a business perspective, quotes are different from invoices: a quote is sent prior to an undertaking and an invoice is sent once it is complete and payment is due, but how to represent this in my repository and model.   I'm writing a web app, initially meant to be stand-alone--it's essentially a survey with user-management/authentication built on Codeigniter. The company I'm doing this for wants to merge it with their main system so that it acts like a feature, or a sub-app of their website. What is the best thing for me to do? I think I could do one of two things: Finish my application, as I had planned to initially, and let them handle the merging.It would probably save me a headache. Stop where I am in development, and migrate my authentication system to theirs, migrate the payment system to use theirs, and then finish the app. In your opinion, or experience, what is the best thing to do?

  I have a client who lectures, and wants to sell spots to his lecture online. I would preferably like to set him up with a solution that allows me to collect billing information on his site. My experience with e-commerce is in using solutions like Authorize.net, however this does not seem cost effective since I can't imagine he's making a huge profit off of this. I'm afraid he would lose money in the cost of using Authorize.net (or any payment gateway for the matter). I could use google checkout or paypal express, but this would require me to leave his site (although with google checkout, it looks like, from a glance, that I could just submit to their form from my server, and likely with paypal as well, but I don't know if this is against their TOS). What is the most cost-effective solution for accepting credit card payments in this situation?

• Preventing Spoofing with Paypal

  I have a scenario where i need to have a user checkout through PayPal and then once we receive the payment then we create a membership record in our membership site. The PayPal requires a "return" field when you submit the form button that will take the user back to our page once the order has been successfully processed. On that page is where we actually track the sale and fire a chunk of javascript to track the sale. So my question is this, how can i make sure that the return page comes from PayPal and is not spoofed by a user in the system. I know there is a way to use the notify_url to have PayPal post back to our system, but in this case i have to run a chunk of javascript. Is there an easy way to do this, or would i have to write some looping/timeout function that checks to see if the notify post has come through? Im using .net to do the posting to paypal

  Hi, I want to integrate paypal with my website. I have studied the documentation available on paypal website. My requirement is A user selects a category, based on category course is populated,user selects course and discount. I want the user to pay through paypal according to the course selected. Also the data should be inserted into a table after successfull payment.
