  • An iterator is a section of code that returns an ordered sequence of values of the same type.

    Among other languages, iterators are used in C++, C# and other .NET languages, Java, Ruby, and Python. The primary purpose of an iterator is to allow a user to process every element of a container while isolating the user from the internal structure of the container.  read moreBy Peter BrombergDid you know that DotNetSlackers also publishes .net articles written by top known .net Authors? • Sample Code for the SSIS Book

    - by KnightReign
    Yes, I know I’ve been gone for a long time. I haven’t professionally blogged for years. But, the good folks here, Adam and Peter have out of the goodness of their hearts, left my blog around and well, I though I’d check in. Since then, I’ve changed jobs, gotten divorced, bought a few more laptops, bunches of guitars, a snowboard or two, iPads, iPhones, a few cars, travel to India, Europe, Middle East, backpacked Scotland (and still damp), Nepal and all over the US. I’m three roles away from the SSIS...(read more)

  • Make isolinux 4.0.3 chainload itself in VMWare

    - by chainloader
    I have a bootable iso which boots into isolinux 4.0.3 and I want to make it chainload itself (my actual goal is to chainload isolinux.bin v4.0.1-debian, which should start up the Ubuntu10.10 Live CD, but for now I just want to make it chainload itself). I can't get isolinux to chainload any isolinux.bin, no matter what version. It either freezes or shows a "checksum error" message. I'm using VMWare to test the iso. Things I have tried: .com32 /boot/isolinux/chain.c32 /boot/isolinux/isolinux-debug.bin (chainload self) this shows Loading the boot file... Booting... • Programmatically examine DLL contents

    - by Peter Hansen
    Is it possible programmatically to discover the exported names (globals, entry points, whatever) in a Windows DLL file without implementing a parser for the binary executable file format itself? I know there are tools to do this (though no open source ones I've found), but I'm curious whether there is a Windows API to accomplish the same thing or whether such tools operate merely by examining the binary file directly. I suspect there is an API for .NET libraries: if that's the case then is there a similar one for native DLLs? Edit: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1128150 is basically an exact duplicate. The answer there is roughly "there is no API, but you can hack it using LoadLibraryEx() and navigating a few resulting data structures". Edit: I was able to use the accepted answer at http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1128150 to create a quick DLL dumper with Python and ctypes that works.

  • WebClient on WP7 - Throw "A request with this method cannot have a request body"

    - by Peter Hansen
    If I execute this code in a Consoleapp it works fine: string uriString = "http://url.com/api/v1.0/d/" + Username + "/some?amount=3&offset=0"; WebClient wc = new WebClient(); wc.Headers["Content-Type"] = "application/json"; wc.Headers["Authorization"] = AuthString.Replace("\\", ""); string responseArrayKvitteringer = wc.DownloadString(uriString); Console.WriteLine(responseArrayKvitteringer); But if I move the code to my WP7 project like this: string uriString = "http://url.com/api/v1.0/d/" + Username + "/some?amount=3&offset=0"; WebClient wc = new WebClient(); wc.Headers["Content-Type"] = "application/json"; wc.Headers["Authorization"] = AuthString.Replace("\\", ""); wc.DownloadStringCompleted += new DownloadStringCompletedEventHandler(wc_DownloadStringCompleted); wc.DownloadStringAsync(new Uri(uriString)); void wc_DownloadStringCompleted(object sender, DownloadStringCompletedEventArgs e) { MessageBox.Show(e.Result); } I got the exception: A request with this method cannot have a request body. Why? The solution is to remove the Content-type: string uriString = "http://url.com/api/v1.0/d/" + Username + "/some?amount=3&offset=0"; WebClient wc = new WebClient(); //wc.Headers["Content-Type"] = "application/json"; wc.Headers["Authorization"] = AuthString.Replace("\\", ""); wc.DownloadStringCompleted += new DownloadStringCompletedEventHandler(wc_DownloadStringCompleted); wc.DownloadStringAsync(new Uri(uriString)); void wc_DownloadStringCompleted(object sender, DownloadStringCompletedEventArgs e) { MessageBox.Show(e.Result); }

  • How can I discover zeroconf (Bonjour) services on Android? I'm having trouble with jmDNS.

    - by Peter Kirn
    I'm working with a Droid / Android 2.0.1 and encountering an issue apparently many people have: I'm unable to discover services using the one pure-Java zeroconf library I know of, jmDNS. (Apple's Bonjour, while it works on Linux and Windows Java, I believe would be harder to port to Android because of reliance on native code.) I can create services, but not discover them. I'm trying to make sense of what's going on. There is an ongoing issue report here; related to multicast and IPv6, but seems to be throwing users of jmDNS, too: http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=2323 Any idea why this person might be having success? See comment 22 in the bug report. (I'm new to SO, so can't post more than one URL.) I have tested their code, but without any luck. Has anyone successfully accomplished zeroconf service discovery on Android, using jmDNS or another library? Is it possible my discovery issue is related to the IPv6 multicast problem?

  • Python: how do I install SciPy on 64 bit Windows?

    - by Peter Mortensen
    How do I install SciPy on my system? Update 1: for the NumPy part (that SciPy depends on) there is actually an installer for 64 bit Windows: numpy-1.3.0.win-amd64-py2.6.msi (is direct download URL, 2310144 bytes). Running the SciPy superpack installer results in this message in a dialog box: "Cannot install. Python version 2.6 required, which was not found in the registry." I already have Python 2.6.2 installed (and a working Django installation in it), but I don't know about any Registry story. The registry entries seems to already exist: REGEDIT4 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Python] [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Python\PythonCore] [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Python\PythonCore\2.6] [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Python\PythonCore\2.6\Help] [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Python\PythonCore\2.6\Help\Main Python Documentation] @="D:\\Python262\\Doc\\python262.chm" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Python\PythonCore\2.6\InstallPath] @="D:\\Python262\\" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Python\PythonCore\2.6\InstallPath\InstallGroup] @="Python 2.6" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Python\PythonCore\2.6\Modules] [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Python\PythonCore\2.6\PythonPath] @="D:\\Python262\\Lib;D:\\Python262\\DLLs;D:\\Python262\\Lib\\lib-tk" What I have done so far: Step 1 Downloaded the NumPy superpack installer numpy-1.3.0rc2-win32-superpack-python2.6.exe (direct download URL, 4782592 bytes). Running this installer resulted in the same message, "Cannot install. Python version 2.6 required, which was not found in the registry.". Update: there is actually an installer for NumPy that works - see beginning of the question. Step 2 Tried to install NumPy in another way. Downloaded the zip package numpy-1.3.0rc2.zip (direct download URL, 2404011 bytes), extracted the zip file in a normal way to a temporary directory, D:\temp7\numpy-1.3.0rc2 (where setup.py and README.txt is). I then opened a command line window and: d: cd D:\temp7\numpy-1.3.0rc2 setup.py install This ran for a long time and also included use of cl.exe (part of Visual Studio). Here is a nearly 5000 lines long transcript (230 KB). This seemed to work. I can now do this in Python: import numpy as np np.random.random(10) with this result: array([ 0.35667511, 0.56099423, 0.38423629, 0.09733172, 0.81560421, 0.18813222, 0.10566666, 0.84968066, 0.79472597, 0.30997724]) Step 3 Downloaded the SciPy superpack installer, scipy-0.7.1rc3- win32-superpack-python2.6.exe (direct download URL, 45597175 bytes). Running this installer resulted in the message listed in the beginning Step 4 Tried to install SciPy in another way. Downloaded the zip package scipy-0.7.1rc3.zip (direct download URL, 5506562 bytes), extracted the zip file in a normal way to a temporary directory, D:\temp7\scipy-0.7.1 (where setup.py and README.txt is). I then opened a command line window and: d: cd D:\temp7\scipy-0.7.1 setup.py install This did not achieve much - here is a transcript (about 95 lines). And it fails: >>> import scipy as sp2 Traceback (most recent call last): File "<stdin>", line 1, in <module> ImportError: No module named scipy Platform: Python 2.6.2 installed in directory D:\Python262, Windows XP 64 bit SP2, 8 GB RAM, Visual Studio 2008 Professional Edition installed.
