  • Sample Code for the SSIS Book

    - by KnightReign
    Yes, I know I’ve been gone for a long time. I haven’t professionally blogged for years. But, the good folks here, Adam and Peter have out of the goodness of their hearts, left my blog around and well, I though I’d check in. Since then, I’ve changed jobs, gotten divorced, bought a few more laptops, bunches of guitars, a snowboard or two, iPads, iPhones, a few cars, travel to India, Europe, Middle East, backpacked Scotland (and still damp), Nepal and all over the US. I’m three roles away from the SSIS...(read more)

  • Make isolinux 4.0.3 chainload itself in VMWare

    - by chainloader
    I have a bootable iso which boots into isolinux 4.0.3 and I want to make it chainload itself (my actual goal is to chainload isolinux.bin v4.0.1-debian, which should start up the Ubuntu10.10 Live CD, but for now I just want to make it chainload itself). I can't get isolinux to chainload any isolinux.bin, no matter what version. It either freezes or shows a "checksum error" message. I'm using VMWare to test the iso. Things I have tried: .com32 /boot/isolinux/chain.c32 /boot/isolinux/isolinux-debug.bin (chainload self) this shows Loading the boot file... Booting... ISOLINUX 4.03 2010-10-22 Copyright (C) 1994-2010 H. Peter Anvin et al isolinux: Starting up, DL = 9F isolinux: Loaded spec packet OK, drive = 9F isolinux: Main image LBA = 53F00100 ...and the machine freezes. Then I've tried this (chainload GRUB4DOS 0.4.5b) chainloader /boot/isolinux/isolinux-debug.bin Result: Error 13: Invalid or unsupported executable format Next try: (chainload GRUB4DOS 0.4.5b) chainloader --force /boot/isolinux/isolinux-debug.bin boot Result: ISOLINUX 4.03 2010-10-22 Copyright (C) 1994-2010 H. • Programmatically examine DLL contents

    - by Peter Hansen
    Is it possible programmatically to discover the exported names (globals, entry points, whatever) in a Windows DLL file without implementing a parser for the binary executable file format itself? I know there are tools to do this (though no open source ones I've found), but I'm curious whether there is a Windows API to accomplish the same thing or whether such tools operate merely by examining the binary file directly. I suspect there is an API for .NET libraries: if that's the case then is there a similar one for native DLLs? Edit: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1128150 is basically an exact duplicate. The answer there is roughly "there is no API, but you can hack it using LoadLibraryEx() and navigating a few resulting data structures". Edit: I was able to use the accepted answer at http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1128150 to create a quick DLL dumper with Python and ctypes that works.

  • WebClient on WP7 - Throw "A request with this method cannot have a request body"

    - by Peter Hansen
    If I execute this code in a Consoleapp it works fine: string uriString = "http://url.com/api/v1.0/d/" + Username + "/some?amount=3&offset=0"; WebClient wc = new WebClient(); wc.Headers["Content-Type"] = "application/json"; wc.Headers["Authorization"] = AuthString.Replace("\\", ""); string responseArrayKvitteringer = wc.DownloadString(uriString); Console.WriteLine(responseArrayKvitteringer); But if I move the code to my WP7 project like this: string uriString = "http://url.com/api/v1.0/d/" + Username + "/some?amount=3&offset=0"; WebClient wc = new WebClient(); wc.Headers["Content-Type"] = "application/json"; wc.Headers["Authorization"] = AuthString.Replace("\\", ""); wc.DownloadStringCompleted += new DownloadStringCompletedEventHandler(wc_DownloadStringCompleted); wc.DownloadStringAsync(new Uri(uriString)); void wc_DownloadStringCompleted(object sender, DownloadStringCompletedEventArgs e) { MessageBox.Show(e.Result); } I got the exception: A request with this method cannot have a request body. Why? The solution is to remove the Content-type: string uriString = "http://url.com/api/v1.0/d/" + Username + "/some?amount=3&offset=0"; WebClient wc = new WebClient(); //wc.Headers["Content-Type"] = "application/json"; wc.Headers["Authorization"] = AuthString.Replace("\\", ""); wc.DownloadStringCompleted += new DownloadStringCompletedEventHandler(wc_DownloadStringCompleted); wc.DownloadStringAsync(new Uri(uriString)); void wc_DownloadStringCompleted(object sender, DownloadStringCompletedEventArgs e) { MessageBox.Show(e.Result); }

  • How can I discover zeroconf (Bonjour) services on Android? I'm having trouble with jmDNS.

    - by Peter Kirn
    I'm working with a Droid / Android 2.0.1 and encountering an issue apparently many people have: I'm unable to discover services using the one pure-Java zeroconf library I know of, jmDNS. (Apple's Bonjour, while it works on Linux and Windows Java, I believe would be harder to port to Android because of reliance on native code.) I can create services, but not discover them. I'm trying to make sense of what's going on. There is an ongoing issue report here; related to multicast and IPv6, but seems to be throwing users of jmDNS, too: http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=2323 Any idea why this person might be having success? See comment 22 in the bug report. (I'm new to SO, so can't post more than one URL.) I have tested their code, but without any luck. Has anyone successfully accomplished zeroconf service discovery on Android, using jmDNS or another library? Is it possible my discovery issue is related to the IPv6 multicast problem?
