  • Mouse gestures for Windows with "Rocker" support

    I'm looking for a mouse gestures program for Windows (including XP). I've seen gMote and StrokeIt, both pretty good, but they're both missing one thing: support for Rocker Gestures. If you don't know it, a Rocker gesture is just holding your right mouse button, then clicking your left (and vice versa). StrokeIt, at least, supports Rocker gestures in one direction, but not the other. Anybody know of a good program that has support for Rocker gestures? Thanks

    I am interested in using a text expansion application, such as Texter or Phase Express. Does anyone have any recommendations for the best text expansion application to use? I work on a number of Windows PCs (XP, Vista, Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2008); the application would need to work on all of these OS flavours. I am particularly interested in an application that is available for all of my programs, and that isn't program specific.

    Hey all, I'm in need of some software that will allow me to make annotations on the screen to ease the frustration of using a piece of low-quality software to verify some data. I've tried a few programs out, but so far none of them have one essential feature: I must be able to switch between the annotation software and the program without losing the annotations that I've previously made.   • Looking for something like Google's Picasa [closed]

    I almost like Picasa, but there are two issues that irk me and I wondered if anyone knew of an application that does what Picasa does but without the following problems: Network drives. Picasa is hopeless with network drives. Ideally, I'd like photos to be stored remotely and thumbnail databases to be stored locally with a client-server set-up to update client databases. The main aim is to get updates propagated to clients efficently, reduce network bandwidth and have quick browsing on the client. It needs to be snappy when used over a wireless network. This is just a minor point but the folder view looks awful, especially when it uses those tiny thumbnails. (Also, what is it with folders being drawn vertically. Having spent years looking at folders orientated horizontally, turning them on their side looks so wrong.)

  • Old laptop turns off due to overheating

    I have an old Laptop that powers off when the processor's temperature exceeds 84degs Celsius. The more annoying part is flash causes this the most of the times. If I watch a web feed for more than 15-20mins, it results into hard shutdown of the machine. I have an idea of a could-be solution to this problem, I want a program that would decrease the processor's clock speed to about 1.2GHz or whatever, leading it a lower temperature. Is there a program out there that does this? P.S. Someone please edit this and add the relevant tags, as I'm new and i have no idea of what tags to choose from.

  • Free Markdown JS viewer

    I'd like to use Markdown for documents to be exchanged with a colleague of mine. The ideal workflow would be IMHO editing the source in any plaintext editor while simultaneously viewing it in a browser. The client viewer should be able to redraw the text after each save automatically, and ideally even always switch to the most recent source file (so I don't need to navigate there manually). It'd be nice if I could (was allowed) modify the viewer a bit, things like using trailing spaces for line breaks are really terrible (I don't see them, my editor strips them, git complains about them, etc.). I'm interested in a software capable of this and easy to modify, and also in your opinions on the described workflow.

  • Internet addicted, need software to control my usage and block access

    I found I have problem to be a little addictive with surfing on internet. I am trying to find a free ware, (or software), that can help me for exemple to be just 2 hours per day on internet. Like it is counting the minutes and than stop working. not just 2 hours in one time, but in whole day.... maybe that it has different modes (2hours together, in whole day, 2hours + little reserve time) but I need something that really take me away access from internet :) Just counting time, is not enough for me :) Hope we will find something because, I just can't avoid not to loose 4 hours on internet.   • Video player with note-taking features?

    Does anyone if is any player which supports to take notes while I play a movie or something? I can use notepad, but I have to use mouse or alt-tab extensively in order to switch from notepad to the player to pause the movie. I was thinking that the guys who add subtitles are using this kind of feature. Any idea? many thanks

  • Software to cache a web application for use offline

    My boss quite regularly has to demo our web application to clients in a situation with no wifi available and sketchy 3G access, quite often the 3G lets him down. I have considered setting a copy of our server up in a virtual machine on his laptop so he could demo it offline, but I fear this will just introduce more headaches when he forgets how to boot the VM up. What I'd ideally like is an app that records you logging into a web app, saves copies of all the pages and ties the links and buttons you click up to offline copies of the pages it saves. So you could run through the demonstration you're going to give and have it cache the pages. When you then click the same buttons and links in offline mode it will present the relevant offline pages. Does such a thing exist? Can anyone recommend any alternative solutions to this problem? Thanks, Anthony

  • Free alternative to Audio Hijack Pro?

    I'd like to record what I hear coming out of the main audio jack on my Mac. Nothing fancier than that. I'm aware of Audio Hijack Pro but that really does much more than I'm looking for and comes with a steep price tag. If it's the only tool that can do the job that's fine but I was hoping to find something that simply captured all audio coming from the computer and dumped it to a file. Any suggestions?

  • Burners freezing the PC when starting lead write in

    hi guys ,am having trouble with new pioneer dvdr-219l dual layer burners ,have replaced old burners with these dual layer ones . they are sata attached ,have tried img burn, xbox360 cookie burner, dvd decrypter, dvd flick , the burners seem ok burning cd and normal dvds but when trying to burn an iso to dual layer they will both freeze at the lead in write , the pc freezes including alt/delete mouse etc so have to re-boot,have tried uninstalling all burning programs that i have to eliminate conflicts and re-installing 1 at a time to see if that was the problem , still no solution am starting to think that maybe i have a bad sata cable the pc and burners dont seem to talk to each other when trying to burn dual layer ,any suggestions ???? this problem is giving me the shits ,ran microsofts fix it program and it said i had no burners installed that were capable of burning , i have had a look at device manager and the burners are there and when trouble shooted it says they are working ok , have noticed in device manager that the driver for these burners is from B.H.A.corporation file version 8.0.0.5. copyright 2000-2006 and they are not digitally sighned these burners are the latest models so how com the drivers are so old ...help please . steve

  • What is the difference between these Pentium Extreme Edition CPUs?

    The CPU in question is the Pentium Extreme Edition 955. Intel's website shows four "versions", but for the most part they all look identical. They even share the same set of ordering codes. But one of them has a substantially lower TDP, which is seemingly unexplainable - since everything else is the same. Two of them say "LGA775, Tray" and I have no idea what "Tray" means either. Also, two of them have a different SPEC code. What I need to know is: What does "LGA775, Tray" mean? Why does the one CPU have a lower TDP? And what does that mean for me? Does that mean lower maximum power consumption? Does it mean the CPU may be more stable/endurant, because of a lower heat output? Why do two of them have a different SPEC code, and what does this mean? Finally, what does PLGA775 (as opposed to LGA775) mean, and do I need to be worried about that?   • Is Family Tree Maker 2011 the right upgrade for a FTM 11 user?

    My father has used Family Tree Maker for years, but hasn't upgraded since version 11. It is difficult to tell from reviews at Amazon and other places whether upgrading to FTM 2011 is a good choice. File incompatibilities and upgrade woes sound like customer service is lacking, and i've read reports of it uploading your data to their database but then trying to sell you a download of data. Looking at the ancestry.com site makes me think it's solely about selling add-ons and upgrades. On the other hand, the feature set seems fairly rich and the software has a pretty strong following. I was able to get Gramps working on my system, but that's not going to work for my dad. Any advice on a good upgrade path?

For example I want every morming at 8:00 the program open a particular mp3 file. But suposse, by mistake, that I on my computer and 9:00, then I want that the program rememberme what I planned to open at 8:00. Show me the program as an active windows on my desktop. The windows of the program opened is what the user is seeing (Is at the first place in the desktop) and the rest of the program windows are below. Close programs or files in my own computer at a planned time. For example I want that the program mp3 file that was opened at 8:00 was closed at 10:00 if at that time still be opened. Detection of events. For instance If I open particular videogame program. then a mp3 file (with a recording message arguing why I shouldn´t continue playing that videogame at work time) is opened.   • World's simplest, LIGHTEST email client?

    I do not want the bloat that is outlook, nor do I need exchange server-like nifty features. Most certainly do not want the bloat that is thunderbird. I just want to be able to send and receive email as/with the particular email account I set up on my domain. Pocomail sounded like a nice idea but apparently it does not deal with html and since this is for a tiny fledgling biz, i think I might need to accomodate html... so I didn't investigate further. Too bad gmail won't let me send from my own mail server, really. :o) What do you guys use that simple and nifty? ===edit=== forgot to mention this is going to be on Windows Vista. (Hey, I'm not a "superuser", okay? I got bounced from stackoverflow :-) )

  • New video card? [closed]

    I ran into some problems with my ATI Radeon x1200. I want it to support vertex shader 3.0, but it only does 2.0. This is because Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 only works with 3.0. So, I want a new video card. Can someone help me, with a more clean look to it? I bet if I would stick to some seller, I would end up with a video card that does not support what I want, or is too expansive. I really do not want it to be above $75, if possible.
