  • Ubuntu worldtime desktop clock widget?

    I am aware that in Unity we can add world time by clicking on time bar. However, it's still a list of locations and sometimes it may be hard to quickly find the timezone of interest. Is there any tool which can put a multiple clock instances on the desktop representing each timezone of interest? Similar to the clock in Windows 7. To be more clear, I am not looking for a weather widget, but a simple clock widget so that I can track time in different timezones.

    I am going to develop a Google Gadget container site, that will be able to host OpenSocial compatible widgets (that I believe are Google gadgets, too, right?). Do you have any guidance where to start? I know that the good start is the iGoogle Developer Home site and that framework what I would like exists - Shindig, but is little clumsy. Tutorial links do not work, for start. Do you think it would be wise to use Shindig? Maybe just for a start and then develop any customizations, if needed? Or would be wiser to start from scratch? So where to start? Do you have any advices, tips or other useful resources to get on faster with this topic? I guess I can start with Compliance - Gadget Server?

    Hello, I'm having a problem with a QTreeView in my program: The SpinBox used to edit the double value of a checkable item is displayed incorrectly when using the Windows style. Only the up and down buttons of the SpinBox can be seen, but not any value. If Qt::ItemIsUserCheckable is removed, the SpinBox will be displayed correctly. If the number is replaced by a longer one like 0.01, it can be seen partially. Any idea how this problem can be solved?     I have been trying to customize Ubuntu 8.04 (hardy heron) alternate install cd. I have followed the community documentation at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/InstallCDCustomization#Generating_a_new_ubuntu-keyring_.deb_to_sign_your_CD to rebuild the ubuntu-keyring packages. But when the media boots I get a warning: anna[7581]: WARNING **: bad md5sum. Though I have not been able to confirm that the message is for the ubunu-keyring-udeb package, the nearest debconf Adding [package] message is for ubuntu-keyring-udeb. This is followed by: INPUT critical retriever/cdrom/error. This message is already from syslog. I don't think dpkg.log will help in this case. I have tried modifying the md5sum file within the source package manually and signing it with my own public key, before building it. But that has not helped either. How do get the installer to work in this scenario? Alternatively, can I customize the contents of Ubuntu8.04 without signing anything?

    Just installed ubuntu 13.10 x86 with all updates. I then installed qt4 libraries and qt creator 271: sudo apt-get install build-essentials sudo apt-get install libqt4-dev sudi apt-get install qtcreator Both installed successfully, and i can launch qt creator, but then i get a black window when i switch to "examples" or "development": http://i.imgur.com/koi6S9S.png The windows cannot be closed. I am guessing because qtcreator somehow cannot find the qt version i installed. This is the settings page: http://i.imgur.com/OgAKH7S.png what to do?

  • PyQt design issues

    I've been working on a my first real project using PyQt lately. I've done just a little bit of work in Qt for C++ but nothing more than just messing around. I've found that the Qt python bindings are essentially just a straight port of C++ classes into python, which makes sense. The issue is that this creates a lot of messy, unpythonic code. For example if you look at QAbstractItemModel, there's a lot of hoops you have to go through that forces you to hide the actual python. I was just wondering if there's any intention of writing a python implementation of Qt that isn't necessarily just a wrapper? Either by Nokia or anyone else? I really like Qt but I would love to be able to write more pythonic code. I hope this is OK to ask here. I'm not trying to start a GUI war or anything.

    I'm writing my first Qt application with PyQt and am having some trouble creating a custom list view. I'd like the list to contain arbitrary widgets (one custom widget in particular). How would I go about this? It seems that the alternative would be to create a table or grid view wrapped in a scrollbar. However, I'd like to be able to take advantage of the model/view approach as well as the nesting (tree-view) support the built-ins handle. EDIT: To clarify, this widget is interactive (contains buttons), so the solution requires more than painting a widget.

  • Qt: Background color on QStandardItem using StyleSheet

    Hi I have a class that inherits QStandardItem and I put the elements in a QTreeWidget. The class receive notifications from the outside and I want to change the background color of the item based on what happened. If I do not use stylesheets it works just fine, like this: void myClass::onExternalEvent() { setBackground(0, QColor(255,0,0))); } However as soon as I put a stylesheet on the QTreeWidget this has no effect, the stylesheet seems to override the setBackground call. So I tried : void myClass::onExternalEvent() { this-setStyleSheet("background-color: red"); } but this is probably all wrong, it changed the color of some other element on my screen, not sure why. So anyone have an idea on how I can alter the background color like with setBackgroundColor but still be able to use stylesheet on my QTreeWidget?
