I'd ideally like a vim answer to this: I want to change [*, 1, *, *] to [*, 2, *, *] Here the stars refer to individual characters in the substring, which I would like to keep unchanged. For example [0, 1, 0, 1] to [0, 2, 0, 1] [1, 1, 1, 1] to [1, 2, 1, 1] If people know how to do this in perl or python or whatever, that would be equally good. Cheers

    Hi I have a website used by clients for reporting purposes and would like to give clients the option of my website reading their local database directly (instead of them providing data in a file format). In most instances their database would be SQL Express setup on their localhost. How can I connect to a clients local SQL server via my website, using asp.net / javascript etc? If the client provides their connection string properties, localhost would just refer to my server's localhost... Thanks

For example: (table with 2 columns: key (indexed), data (not indexed) updated (not indexed) Select * where updated=20100202 (the db will do a scan - will the scanned rows be kept in memory?) Select * where key = 20 (the db will refer to the index - will the identified rows be kept in memory?)

    If you have two separate projects that is somehow connected. How can one make a reference to the source of the other project? For referencing the source of your own project you use: source:some/file But since I want to refer to code in another project my thought was that I could write something like: other_project:source:some/file Anyone that knows if this is possible in some way? I have read http://www.redmine.org/wiki/redmine/RedmineTextFormatting#Redmine-links but found no clues there.

    I have a question about using subqueries in an Update statement. My example: UPDATE TRIPS SET locations = city + ', ' FROM (select Distinct city from poi where poi.trip_guid = trips.guid) Is it possible to refer to main table value (trips.guid) in subqueries? When i try to use trips.guid I get the error: "The multi-part identifier "trips.guid" could not be bound."

I am wondering if there is a way (for error checking purposes) to test if a method exists without trying to execute it.     I have a grails app (v 1.1.2) the logging is working fine from the groovy classes, but I can't get it to work from within a java source... I have a class in package com.mforms.devices., it imports apache log4j, defines the logger as follows private final org.apache.log4j.Logger loggy = Logger.getLogger(this.getClass()); then refer to it later by doing loggy.error("...") my Config.groovy has the following log4j = { error 'com.mforms' root { error 'stdout', 'file' additivity = true } } What am I doing wrong?!?!

    i know that if you create a foreign key on a field (parent_id) in a child table that refer to a parent table's primary key (id), then if this parent table is deleted the child class will be deleted as well if you set onDelete to cascade when creating the foreign key in the child class. but what happens if i set it to onUpdate = cascade?

    I'm using another computer than normal to do iPhone dev. Now I'm trying to get my apps onto my iPhone, but fail with the certificates, keys and stuff. I'm a little confused...should I wrap this with backticks, single quote or just leave it unwrapped int he group by GROUP BY `QuarterYear ` or should I do this?: GROUP BY 'QuarterYear' or just this?: GROUP BY QuarterYear

    With reflection, you can look up a class from a string at run time, but you can also say typeof(Foo) and get compile time type checking, auto completion etc. If what you want is a field not a class, you can look it up from a string at runtime, but if you want compile time type checking etc., is there anyway to say something like fieldof(Foo.Bar)? I know the name of both the class and the field in advance, and I want to be able to refer to the field at compile time rather than with a run-time string lookup.
