  • Make Google chrome with specific user profile as default browser

    Is it possible to set Google chrome with a custom user profile as the default browser? When I set google chrome as the default browser, it picks the "default" user profile as against the custom one I have setup. I tried setting google chrome as default browser after opening it from that particular user profile, but it doesn't seem to have an effect. I googled around but could only find another poor soul like myself who asked a similar question here: http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Chrome/thread?tid=69f0a6e776ceab1c&hl=en There weren't any responses to that question.     I'm playing with my new blink(1), and trying to hook it's command line interface into some of my programs, but the docs are a little limited and I'm struggling to figure out how to run even some seemingly simple commands. In particular, the CLI docs say: Usage: blink1-tool <cmd> [options] where <cmd> is one of: .... --blink <numtimes> Blink on/off .... So I try to run blink1-tool --blink 5 and it outputs blink 5 times rgb:0,0,0: and doesn't light up. How do I use the --blink command?

  • Windows 7 Forbid connecting to a specific wireless network

    Does anyone know how to tell windows 7 to bar a wireless network? It keeps logging into a random open one with no bandwidth my neighbors have instead of the good one we have here. I keep unchecking "automatically log in if available" and it keeps re-checking itself. I want it to NEVER log into this network no matter what without manual intervention. I do not want to disable auto connecting, just tell it "do not ever connect to this one without my express permission".

  • How to have Windows Server DNS use hosts file to resolve specific host names

    Hello, everyone, I'm facing a small problem with Windows Server 2003 DNS service. In my corporation, I'm running Microsoft DNS server(172.16.0.12) to do name resolution to my company intranet(domain name ends in dev.nls. resolving to IP 172.16..), and it is also configured as a DNS forwarder to forward other domain names(e.g. *.google.com , *.sf.net) to Internet real DNS servers. This internal DNS server never tends to serve users from outside world. And, we are running a mail server(serving incoming mail for a real Internet domain @nlscan.com) inside company firewall which can be accessed in either way: by connecting to 172.16.0.10 from within intranet. by connecting to mail.nlscan.com(resolved to 202.101.116.9) from Internet. Note that 172.16.0.10 and 202.101.116.9 is not the same physical machine. The 202 one is a firewall machine who do port forwarding of port 25 and 110 to intranet address 172.16.0.10 . Now my question: If users inside corporate LAN want to resolve mail.nlscan.com, it resolves to 202.101.116.9. That's correct and workable, BUT NOT GOOD, because the mail traffic goes to the firewall machine then bounces to 172.16.0.10 . I hope that our internal DNS server can intercept the name mail.nlscan.com and resolve it to 172.16.0.10 . So, I hope that I can write an entry in "hosts" file on 172.16.0.12 to do this. But, how can Microsoft DNS server recognize this "hosts" file? Maybe you suggest, why not have intranet user use 172.16.0.10 to access my mail server? I have to say it is inconvenient, suppose a user(employee) works on his laptop, daytime in office and nighttime at home. When he is at home, he cannot use 172.16.0.10 . Creating a zone for nlscan.com on our internal DNS server is not feasible, because the name server for nlscan.com domain is on our ISP, and it is responsible for resolving other host names and sub-domains under nlscan.com . But when I run the macro or change it through Find and Replace dialogue box it also replace NA from CHINA last 2 characters and it became CHINATIONAL ASSEMBLY and INTERIOR to INTERNATIONALERIOR. Now, I want that Excel should only smartly find the character NA in the workbook which is not included with any other character likewise character INT which is not attach to any other character.     I'm trying to configure port forwarding for Apache 2.2 installed on Windows XP SP3 with ZTE ZXV10 W300 router. The computer has a static IP 192.168.1.2. Port forwarding is configured as following: Enable true Name Apache Protocol TCP (also tried TCP and UPD) WAN Host Start IP Address empty WAN Host End IP Address empty WAN Connection stream WAN Start Port 8080 WAN End Port 8080 LAN Host IP Address 192.168.1.2 LAN Host Start Port 8080 LAN Host End Port 8080 Port 8080 is open for both TCP and UPD in Windows Brandmauer. Apache configuration: Listen 192.168.1.2:8080 Router Firmware: Hardware Version V1.0.01 Software Version V8.0.02T03_CFA Boot Loader Version V1.1.2 The provider is COMSTAR. I'm not sure but it's said they flash routers with modified firmware. I have also tried to set up Bitcomet port forwarding on port 13514 and failed.

I (naively) modified the config like this: http://pastie.org/1426047 (added lines 90-98) but this is not a valid Apache config. Please help me to modify the original config file to accomplish 1-4 above.

  • List symlinks in specific relative directories

    I have a server that shares out user home folders over the network. Each user has a Cache folder. Sometimes a symlink is used to redirect this folder to the hard drive of whichever machine they are using (and sometimes that doesn't work and they have a broken symlink [which is a matter for another day].) I'm trying to find out which users have symlinks and which don't. Within the shared folder, to get to the Cache folder you would substitute folders like so: $GRADE/$USERNAME/Library/Caches Right now I'm searching to see which users have symlinks and which do not.   • OS specific network delay, why?

    Since my new ISP installed their own router to my house(I rented a room in a student house so don't have much control on these), I started having strange delays. Any outgoing connection I do, be it http or ssh, is delayed for several seconds, and once it is established, I have no further problems. I open several simultaneous tabs in my browser and after about 5 to 8 seconds, they all connect and load simultaneously and quiet fast. I can actually play online games once I connect.What's more interesting is, I experience this only with Linux distros, namely Arch and some versions of Ubuntu. Access with Windows installs are quiet normal. What might be wrong with my router? Everything was fine with my old router but I have to use this one now.

  • ubuntu 10.04 logs itself out overnight

    Every night when I leave work, I lock the screen via ubuntu's "power" button in the top right hand panel. When I come to work in the morning, I'm greeted with the log-in screen.   • View all users in a specific group in CentOS

    I added a user user01 to a group group01 using: usermod -a -G group01 user01 When I run in command id user01 it shows that this user has actually been added to the group. However, the file /etc/group doesn't reflect this. i.e. I believe that on this file, users that belong to each of the groups should be listed next to it. Please correct me if I am wrong. This is a fresh installation of CentOS 6.4 Also, since id user01 shows that this is updated, is there any way to check all the members of group group01?

  • Allow certain users to access a specific directory?

    I'm trying to figure out how to allow certain users who are also me to access a directory of files that I want to use for all of my users. I'm using cPanel and I used WHM to create three separate accounts. The files I want to use are on account1 in the directory /home/account1/public_html/source/engines and I want the directory /home/account2/public_html/source/engines to use the same exact files without having to upload them to both places every time I change them, so I created a simple symbolic link and added account2 to the group account1 (while still keeping its own group as the primary). It still gives me a Permission Denied error though. Is there any way I can grant account2 and other accounts that I create for myself access to those files? I don't want them to be global to all users because I don't want my hosted users to be able to access them, only my users. groups account1 returns account1 : account1 groups account2 returns account2 : account2 account1 /home/account1/public_html/source/engines and all its files belongs to account1:account1 Any other information you might need just ask.

  • Redirect specific domains with DNS

    Currently we filter internet content using OpenDNS, our internal Windows DC/DNS servers point to the router's DNS, which then points to the OpenDNS servers. This works well to block all computer's on the network equally. New issue. We now need to separate what computers can go to what sites. So facebook is blocked for everyone right now, but I need to open it up to the 3 community computers now. The 3 community computers will be on an untrusted network seperate from the company computers so they can have their own DNS server, from their own router. The issue is though they still must connect to the internet using the same IP address. So OpenDNS sees the same IP and blocks them the same way. We are looking into getting a second IP, but it's not likely an option without going up to the next major level with our ISP which we don't want to do. My thought is this. Can I setup a DNS server on the untrusted network, and then depending on the request that comes in, have it send it to either OpenDNS or our ISP's DNS? Example www.facebook.com and www.youtube.com are both on the OpenDNS blacklist. So if they go to www.youtube.com, the local DNS server goes to the ISP's DNS to get the IP and thus the client gets the right IP and can go to the site. This would be manually entered for each allowed site thus creating a white list. Then if they go to www.facebook.com, since the local DNS server does not find an entry, it sends the request to OpenDNS, which then sees the site is on the blacklist, and thus sends the it's blocked webpage. The local DNS server can be either Bind on Linux or MS DNS on Window 2008. If this can be done, can you give some direction as well as I've never setup a DNS such as this before. Thanks

  • Macbook cannot see specific wireless network after being connected to it for a while

    Okay, so there's a single wireless network that my laptop has troubles with. My Macbook Pro used to be fine with it until it changed to using channel 13 (or 11?). Since then, after being connected to it for a while it disappears from my laptop's view. Other networks are showing up fine and other computers (including several Macs) have no troubles connecting to this network. If I clear my system cache using Onyx and then restart (sometimes a couple times) my laptop can see and connect to it again. But it seems that if I disconnect and try reconnecting I have to clear my cache again. One thing to note is that if I put my computer to sleep while connected to this network it has no problems reconnecting on wake up. I've got a 15" Macbook Pro 2,2 with Leopard 10.5.8.

    Hi, Not sure if I really am on the right forum, but if not, just tell me. I have a page that is coded in Classic ASP which is used to send email. We are currently having a problem in which the page seem to be sent twice sometime. Upon checking, we found out that those who have this problem are coming from big organisation, so it was suggested that their server might cache the file for some reason. I would like to know, is there a way in HTML (or Classic ASP) to prevent that from happening? Or is it in IIS that we must set this up? Thanks,

    I am trying to install MS SQL Database 2005 on Windows XP Home SP3. It fails giving no reason ("Database failed to install"), then exits. I had already installed MS SQL Database Express Edition 2008 during 2005 setup. But when I removed 2008 one and tried to install 2005 afterwards it still failed with same error. The error happens when I am trying to install Dragon Age Toolset or Visual 2008 Pro edition. I do not known which else informations may be valuable as I never before encountered problems with installing MS database

However in W7 when I switch keyboard it stays in the window I switched it.. and other windows have English at the same time... In windows 8.1 if I switch keyboard it changes everywhere. is there an option to keep different keyboards in different windows / apps ?

    Consider the following file Input #0, mov,mp4,m4a,3gp,3g2,mj2, from 'infile.mp4': Stream #0:0(und): Video: h264 (High) (avc1 / 0x31637661), yuv420p, 1920x1038 Stream #0:1(eng): Audio: aac (mp4a / 0x6134706D), 48000 Hz, 5.1, fltp, 386 kb/s Stream #0:2(eng): Audio: aac (mp4a / 0x6134706D), 48000 Hz, stereo, fltp, 124 kb/s I would like to run a command that uses the video and only the stereo audio. With this particular file I could just run ffmpeg -i infile.mp4 -c copy -map v -map :2 outfile.mp4 However this will not work if the audio streams are switched. How can I tell FFmpeg to use the 2 channel audio only?
