• Partition problem tyring to install window 7 starter

  Hello HP Mini 210 I am trying to install windows starter 7. Currently I have installed fedora 14 xfce. And I have allocated 24 GB NTFS for hard disk for the windows partition. My current partitions are as follows: /dev/sda2 97G 4.9G 91G 6% / tmpfs 494M 92K 494M 1% /dev/shm /dev/sda1 485M 68M 392M 15% /boot /dev/sda5 169G 26G 135G 16% /home I have created a boot USD to install windows starter 7. When the computer boots into the windows setup and I selected the partition I want to install windows on. I get the following message: "Setup was unable to create a new system partition or locate an existing system partition." This is setup displaying all my partitions: Disk 0 Partition 1 500MB 0 Primary Disk 0 Partition 2 97.7GB 0 Primary Disk 0 Partition 3 4GB 0 Primary Disk 0 Partition 4 171.3GB 0 Logical Disk 0 Partition 5 24.6GB 24.5 Logical <-- Trying install on this partition NTFS I have also tried to delete the partition in setup and create a new one. • Automate new AD user's home folder creation and permission setup

  I know if we setup a base folder or a profile path in the Profile tab of an AD user, we can copy it and the folder creation and permission setup will be automated. My problem is that not all my users have a roaming profile and the home folder linking is done thru GPO. When I copy from these users, the home folder isn't created automatically and I have to create it manually and change permission and ownership on that folder, located on the fileserver. What should I do? A script may be nice but it'd have to be run everytime a new user is created and I don't think we can link a script to an AD user creation? I'd like to avoid any manual steps and keep my GPO that way. Using a W2008r2 DC on w7 client boxes. Thanks.

• Can't get IIS6 to setup properly.

  I am trying to setup a website on a Windows 2003 R2 box. So I cranked up IIS, clicked on Web Sites, created a new website and setup the host headers for my domain. No matter what I did, I kept getting Service Unavailable errors. Finally, I followed the instructions in this link, and it worked. Basically, the page recommends switching to IIS5 isolation mode. I don't really understand why it works and I don't understand why it didn't work before. If someone could enlighten me, that would be great. Bonus for explaining how to do with the IIS6 isolation mode.

Now I am setting up virtual users for dovecot. But however, I also notice I can setup users in sendmail itself. Why is it so that you can setup users in 2 different places. Other mail server will send to the user in sendmail or dovecot?

  I've been looking around the Cisco ASA administration screen with our network admin and haven't found the location where Web Applications can be setup. This seems like it should be a pretty straight forward procedure, especially if I just want to add a global application and not segment out by groups. I've looked through the docs, but they are a mess and answer most questions except for this. If you're going to post a RTFM answer, at least please provide link and location because I have looked. This is the location I'm looking to setup web applications on the clientless web VPN.

  I need help in visualising how to setup our VPN box when we move to our new network with Telstra. We have a safe@office 500P, which has a public IP and a private IP of 192.168.19.2. It is physically connected to our router, which has 4 different interfaces, one being 192.168.19.1. On the VPN box, we have a static route to forward everything to 192.168.19.1 which is the router, and from there it works out where to go. Now, we are moving to a Telstra WAN and things are setup a little differently. Our head office router has only 3 interfaces- 1 is for the link to the switch that has the fibre connection (so our route to the internet and other branches), 1 is for our 10.10.20.x network and one is for the local branch network. I really have no idea how to set this up as with the new setup, we will not have a port for it to plug into on the router. Could I just plug it into the 10.10.20.x network? Would I have to give it a public IP or can we just forward through the ports that it would use? Another suggestion was to VLAN our switch into two networks- one for the 10.10.20.x network and one for the network the VPN currently sits on (192.168.19.x), and setup the router to trunk between the port and the switch. Not sure how to do this. Sorry VPN's are definitely not my strong suit. Any advice appreciated!

  In our office every machine runs OSX. In search of an ideal storage and sharing solution we decided to let OSX Server handle all account information and auth requests whereas an 7TB QNAP provides NFS shares. All shares are published as mounts in the companywide LDAP. As it turns out, handling permissions in this situation is very clumsy (e.g. inherit permissions on newly created files). Unfortunately using NFS4 in combination with ACLs did not solve the problem. As a possible solution I set up a iSCSI connection between QNAP and the machine running OSX Server which in turn serves the LUN as AFP share. Permission handling works like a charm for this setup. Although I am a bit concerned about the performance of this setup. As we are a fast growing company we expect the solution to serve at least 100 clients while using files aprox. above 100MB each. Are there any known drawbacks of this solution?

  Hi there. I am currently using Fedora and looking at switching to Linux Mint Debian Edition. What is the best way to have the machine setup, so changing distro causes the least issues. In that I mean; people usually say having /home on it's own partition is good because then you just format the other partitions and you don't loose anything in home. However what happens then with say Evolution (or other program) configs etc with one version and then when you move to another distro it has other files, this could cause issues? Is there another way to have machine setup?

  I am struggling with this all the day, no answer i found here as well. Please advice how to setup proper a subdomain i need. My Apache config has 2 domains configured (on same IP), for the domain2.com i need to setup a sub-domain. • Getting PATH right for python after MacPorts install

  I can't import some python libraries (PIL, psycopg2) that I just installed with MacPorts. I looked through these forums, and tried to adjust my PATH variable in $HOME/.bash_profile in order to fix this but it did not work. I added the location of PIL and psycopg2 to PATH. I know that Terminal is a version of python in /usr/local/bin, rather than the one installed by MacPorts at /opt/local/bin. Do I need to use the MacPorts version of Python in order to ensure that PIL and psycopg2 are on sys.path when I use python in Terminal? Should I switch to the MacPorts version of Python, or will that cause more problems?   I am thinking of making the small simulation of how the big companies run their system in my home environment to get the feeling. I have the server with 8GB ram , quad core processor. I am thinking of following setup if thats [possible because i have not worked with biger companies , so i want to know how can i do that I am thinking of creating 5 virtual machines VM1 will be database server and will have all databases like MySQL , postgreSQL , sqlite , mongodb and Oracle VM2 will be the web server and will have Apache and Tomcat installed VM3 will be the Filse server where i will have all the web sites file VM4 , i am thinking of as main box where i can install ptyon php java j2ee sites but not sure VM5 will have the server 22008 for c# .net applications my main idea is to be able to host the sites in php, python , java j2ee with spring Is my setup ok or i am missing few things. • Tracking unique versions of files with hashes

  I'm going to be tracking different versions of potentially millions of different files, and my intent is to hash them to determine I've already seen that particular version of the file. Currently, I'm only using MD5 (the product is still in development, so it's never dealt with millions of files yet), which is clearly not long enough to avoid collisions. However, here's my question - Am I more likely to avoid collisions if I hash the file using two different methods and store both hashes (say, SHA1 and MD5), or if I pick a single, longer hash (like SHA256) and rely on that alone? I know option 1 has 288 hash bits and option 2 has only 256, but assume my two choices are the same total hash length. Since I'm dealing with potentially millions of files (and multiple versions of those files over time), I'd like to do what I can to avoid collisions. However, CPU time isn't (completely) free, so I'm interested in how the community feels about the tradeoff - is adding more bits to my hash proportionally more expensive to compute, and are there any advantages to multiple different hashes as opposed to a single, longer hash, given an equal number of bits in both solutions?

  I want a test- and development-environment for web using Apache, PHP and MySQL. I need to be able to test a single web-application with multiple versions of PHP (5.2, 5.3, etc) and multiple versions of MySQL (5.0, 5.1, 5.5, etc). It shall be hosted on a FreeBSD server. My idea is to compile each version into a directory structure and running them on separate portnumbers. For example: opt/apache2.2-php5.2-mysql-5.0 (httpd on port 8801, mysql on port 8802) (directory contains each software, compiled and linked towards eachother) opt/apache2.2-php5.3-mysql-5.1 (httpd on port 8803, mysql on port 8804) (and so on) Any thoughts or suggestions of the best way to setup this type of environment?

My requirements are fairly simple: Different log handlers for different events - that is, I want to be able to log to different files Easy access to loggers in my modules. The module should be able to find its logger with little effort. Should be easily applicable to command-line modules. Parts of the system are stand-alone command line or daemon processes. Logging should be easily usable with these modules. My current setup is to use a logging.conf file and setup logging in each module I log from. It doesn't feel right. Do you have a logging setup that you like? Please detail it: how do you setup the configuration (do you use logging.conf or set it up in code), where/when do you initiate the loggers, and how do you get access to them in your modules, etc.

  The Selenium setup.py can be found at http://code.google.com/p/selenium/source/browse/trunk/setup.py. When running "python setup.py sdist" the "firefox/test/py" directory is ignored for some reason though it's mentioned in the "package_dir" and in "packages". Any ideas why it's ignored?

  We created an application that uses Office 2007 (Excel 2007) to read in data from an Excel worksheet. However. I noticed that when I want to deploy the application on a system with Office 2003 installed, it crashes because other PIA's (and other dll's) need to be referenced for this version of office. Do I need to compile different versions of my application to be able to support different versions of Office or is there a more ellegant solution for this problem? I use Visual Studio 2010 (C#) and the .Net 4.0 platform. Many thanks Chris

  This guide from apple https://developer.apple.com/iphone/prerelease/library/documentation/UserExperience/Conceptual/TableView_iPhone/TableViewCells/TableViewCells.html (you need login) explains how to use "The Technique for Static Row Content" to use Interface Builder to setup the cells in a tableview. I have some cells with different heights in my tableview. Without using the heightForRowAtIndexPath method everything get messed up. Do I still need to use this method or can I in some way setup the height of the cells inside the IB as I created them there? Also when using the "The Technique for Static Row Content" from the guide you still need to use the cellForRowAtIndexPath to setup the cells even if they are created in IB. I would like to setup the full layout of the tableview with all cells in IB (drag the cells right into the tableview), is that possible in some way? Thanks!

• Caching result of setUp() using Python unittest

  I currently have a unittest.TestCase that looks like.. class test_appletrailer(unittest.TestCase): def setup(self): self.all_trailers = Trailers(res = "720", verbose = True) def test_has_trailers(self): self.failUnless(len(self.all_trailers) > 1) # ..more tests.. This works fine, but the Trailers() call takes about 2 seconds to run.. Given that setUp() is called before each test is run, the tests now take almost 10 seconds to run (with only 3 test functions) What is the correct way of caching the self.all_trailers variable between tests? Removing the setUp function, and doing.. class test_appletrailer(unittest.TestCase): all_trailers = Trailers(res = "720", verbose = True) ..works, but then it claims "Ran 3 tests in 0.000s" which is incorrect..   Is there a way that when a user types python setup.py install to install a Python package, setup.py can be made to set specific variables at the base of the pacakge? A common example would be to basically set mypackage.__revision__ to be the svn revision of the checkout if one is working from svn. Another example case would be if the user can choose a global option, so that the option mypackage.__option__ be set according to a flag passed to setup.py, e.g. python setup.py install --set-flag=10 Then when using the package, mypackage.__option__ would equal 10.
