  • export a JOGL applet and embedd into a html page

    - by nkint
hi guys it is some time that i'm testing opengl with java and JOGL. now i have good result and i wanto to pubblish it on web. but i have some problem. i'm in eclipse, and i'm testing an Applet with JOGL. first of all i have this run time error (but the program works correctly): java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: adding a window to a container at java.awt.Container.checkNotAWindow(Container.java:431) at java.awt.Container.addImpl(Container.java:1039) at java.awt.Container.add(Container.java:365) at AppletHelloWorld.init(AppletHelloWorld.java:30) at sun.applet.AppletPanel.run(AppletPanel.java:424) at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:619) then i found this incredibly clear page and i do what is said, i open html with the browser, the libs are downloaded but it stops at "Starting applet AppletHelloWorld" that is the name i gave to my applet. mayebe i miss something like main function or exporting well the jar? this is my main code: public class AppletHelloWorld extends Applet { public static void main(String[] args) { JFrame fr=new JFrame(); fr.setBounds(0,0,1015,600); fr.add(new AppletHelloWorld()); fr.setVisible(true); } public void init() { setLayout(null); MyJOGLProject canvas = new MyJOGLProject(); //MyJOGLProject extends JFrame canvas.run(); Container c = new Container(); c.add(canvas); add(c); } //....

  • changing img src with JQuery but leave pathing info intact?

    - by Kevin Won
I'm using JQuery to switch out an image src thusly: $("#myImg").attr("src", "../../new.gif"); notice the relative pathing on the new src. Unfortunately, this isn't portable when I deploy my app. In my MVC app I'm using a ResolveUrl() method that will fix the pathing problem for me so it's portable, but now my JQuery image src swapper doesn't work right since it now switches the correctly resolved path to a broken relative one. <img id="myImg" src="<%=ResolveUrl("~/Images/transparent.gif")%>" /> What I want is for JQuery to just flip the actual filename and leave the path untouched. My first thought would be to // pseudocode javascript jquery on my thought on how to approach this prob var oldFullPath = $('#myImg").GetTheImgSrc; var newFileNameWithPathIntact = someRegexAddNewFileNameWithOldPath $("#myImg").attr("src", newFileNameWithPathIntact); but that seems rather gross and un-JQuery to me. Anyone got a better way?

  • How do I add jars needed to compile a maven project if they were never built with a pom?

    - by JasonH
I'm just starting with maven, coming from years of working with Ant. I'm trying a basic task now, building a simple project that requires some libraries from a vendor. I have the jars in src\main\resources\VENDORNAME. When I run mvn compile it fails on compilation saying the libraries don't exist. I can't seem to add these as dependencies because I don't know their version number and as they are proprietary I can't find them in ibiblio or elsewhere. Without these Jars I can't compile my classes. Is there a way to use jars that didn't follow Maven's convention? I might not understand maven correctly, so any guidance is welcome. Much appreciated for any responses.

  • I have UFW block messages from local network machines, how can I analyse if they are malicious?

    - by Trygve
I'm getting a lot of messages in my UFW log, and I'm trying to figure out if these are malicious or just normal. A UDP broadcast is coming from a windows laptop x.x.x.191, and some from our synology disks x.x.x.{6,8,10,11}. I have not figured out which macine 114 is yet. I would appreciate some advice in how to read the log, and get the most I can out of these calls. • How to use sound and images in a Java applet?

    - by Click Upvote
    Question 1: How should I structure my project so the sound and images files can be loaded most easily? Right now, I have the folder: C:\java\pacman with the sub-directory C:\java\pacman\src containing all the code, and C:\java\pacman\assets containing the images and .wav files. Is this the best structure or should I put the assets somewhere else? Question 2: What's the best way to refer to the images/sounds without using the full path e.g C:\java\pacman\assets\something.png to them? If I use the getCodeBase() function it seems to refer to the C:\java\pacman\bin instead of C:\java\pacman\. I want to use such a function/class which would work automatically when i compile the applet in a jar as well as right now when I test the applet through eclipse. Question 3: How should I load the images/sounds? This is what I'm using now: 1) For general images: import java.awt.Image; public Image getImg(String file) { //imgDir in this case is a hardcoded string containing //"C:\\java\\pacman\\assets\\" file=imgDir + file; return new ImageIcon(file).getImage(); } The images returned from this function are used in the drawImage method of the Graphics class in the paint method of the applet. 2) For a buffered image, which is used to get subImages and load sprites from a sprite sheet: public BufferedImage getSheet() throws IOException { return ImageIO.read(new File(img.getPath("pacman-sprites.png"))); } Later: public void loadSprites() { BufferedImage sheet; try { sheet=getSheet(); redGhost.setNormalImg(sheet.getSubimage(0, 60, 20, 20)); redGhost.setUpImg(sheet.getSubimage(0, 60, 20, 20)); redGhost.setDownImg(sheet.getSubimage(30, 60, 20, 20)); redGhost.setLeftImg(sheet.getSubimage(30, 60, 20, 20)); redGhost.setRightImg(sheet.getSubimage(60, 60, 20, 20)); } catch (IOException e) { System.out.println("Couldnt open file!"); System.out.println(e.getLocalizedMessage()); } } 3) For sound files: import sun.audio.*; import java.io.*; public synchronized void play() { try { InputStream in = new FileInputStream(filename); AudioStream as = new AudioStream(in); AudioPlayer.player.start(as); } catch (IOException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } }

    - by Xinus
    I am trying to load jar file using JCL using following code FileInputStream fis = new FileInputStream(new File( "C:\\Users\\sunils\\glassfish-tests\\working\\test.jar") ); JarClassLoader jc = new JarClassLoader( ); jc.add(fis); Class main = jc.loadClass( "highmark.test.Main" ); String[] str={}; main.getMethod("test").invoke(null);//.getDeclaredMethod("main",String[].class).invoke(null,str); fis.close(); But when I try to run this program I get Exception as Exception in thread "main" java.lang.reflect.InvocationTargetException at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke0(Native Method) at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(Unknown Source) at sun.reflect.DelegatingMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(Unknown Source) at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Unknown Source) at Main.main(Main.java:21) Caused by: java.lang.RuntimeException: Embedded startup not found, classpath is probably incomplete at org.glassfish.api.embedded.Server.<init>(Server.java:292) at org.glassfish.api.embedded.Server.<init>(Server.java:75) at org.glassfish.api.embedded.Server$Builder.build(Server.java:185) at org.glassfish.api.embedded.Server$Builder.build(Server.java:167) at highmark.test.Main.test(Main.java:33) ... 5 more According to this it is not able to locate class, But when I run the jar file explicitly it runs fine. It seems like JCL is ignoring other classes present in the jar file, MANIFEST.MF file in jar file shows: Manifest-Version: 1.0 Class-Path: . Main-Class: highmark.test.Main It seems to be ignoring Class-Path: . , This jar file runs fine when I run it using Java explicitly, This is just a test, in reality this jar file is coming as a InputStream and it cannot be stored in filesystem, How can I overcome this problem , Is there any workaround ? Thanks for any help . UNDATE: Here is a jar Main class : package highmark.test; import org.glassfish.api.embedded.*; import java.io.*; import org.glassfish.api.deployment.*; import com.sun.enterprise.universal.io.FileUtils; public class Main { public static void main(String[] args) throws IOException, LifecycleException, ClassNotFoundException { test(); } public static void test() throws IOException, LifecycleException, ClassNotFoundException{ Server.Builder builder = new Server.Builder("test"); Server server = builder.build(); server.createPort(8080); ContainerBuilder containerBuilder = server.createConfig(ContainerBuilder.Type.web); server.addContainer(containerBuilder); server.start(); File war=new File("C:\\Users\\sunils\\maventests\\simple-webapp\\target\\simple-webapp.war");//(File) inputStream.readObject(); EmbeddedDeployer deployer = server.getDeployer(); DeployCommandParameters params = new DeployCommandParameters(); params.contextroot = "simple"; deployer.deploy(war, params); } }

  • Google App Engine 1.3.1 JAR's in publicly available Maven repository?

    - by Taylor L
Is anyone aware of a publicly available Maven repository that contains the Google App Engine 1.3.1 JAR's? I've been using the maven-gae-plugin repository, but it's not updated yet. It looks like the JAR's on the central Maven repository are even older. EDIT: It looks like Cletus's answer below has most of the JAR's, but not all of them. For example, the datanucleus-appengine-1.0.5.final.jar isn't available.

  • Jetty 7 hightide distribution, JSP and JSTL support

    - by Lior Cohen
    Hello guys. I've been struggling with Jetty 7 and its support for JSP and JSTL. My JSP file: <%@ page language="java" contentType="text/html; charset=utf-8" pageEncoding="utf-8" %> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd"> <html> <%@taglib prefix="c" uri="http://java.sun.com/jsp/jstl/core" %> <head> <title>blah</title> </head> <body> <table id="data"> <tr class="columns"> <td>Hour</td> <c:forEach var="campaign" items="${campaigns}"> <td>${campaign}</td> </c:forEach> </tr> <c:forEach var="hour" items="${results}"> <tr> <td class="hour">${hour.key}</td> <c:forEach var="campaign" items="${campaigns}"> <td>${hour[campaign]}</td> </c:forEach> </tr> </c:forEach> </table> </body> </html> The JSP portions above work as expected. • Files are piling up in /usr/src/. How can I stop this?

    - by Bogdanovist
    I have been having many serious system issues over the past few weeks and have been scratching my head as to why. I've now worked out that this problem is having no inodes left on the root partition $ df -i Filesystem Inodes IUsed IFree IUse% Mounted on /dev/sda6 732960 724565 8395 99% / udev 125179 518 124661 1% /dev tmpfs 127001 464 126537 1% /run none 127001 4 126997 1% /run/lock none 127001 8 126993 1% /run/shm /dev/sda7 5234688 144639 5090049 3% /home What is the cause? I've found that 400K of those are in use in /usr/src $ ls /usr/src linux-headers-3.2.0-25-generic linux-headers-3.2.0-33 linux-headers-3.2.0-25-generic-pae linux-headers-3.2.0-33-generic linux-headers-3.2.0-26 linux-headers-3.2.0-33-generic-pae linux-headers-3.2.0-26-generic linux-headers-3.2.0-35 linux-headers-3.2.0-26-generic-pae linux-headers-3.2.0-35-generic linux-headers-3.2.0-27 linux-headers-3.2.0-35-generic-pae linux-headers-3.2.0-27-generic linux-headers-3.2.0-36 linux-headers-3.2.0-27-generic-pae linux-headers-3.2.0-36-generic linux-headers-3.2.0-29 linux-headers-3.2.0-36-generic-pae linux-headers-3.2.0-29-generic linux-headers-3.2.0-39 linux-headers-3.2.0-29-generic-pae linux-headers-3.2.0-39-generic linux-headers-3.2.0-30 linux-headers-3.2.0-39-generic-pae linux-headers-3.2.0-30-generic linux-headers-3.2.0-40 linux-headers-3.2.0-30-generic-pae linux-headers-3.2.0-40-generic linux-headers-3.2.0-31 linux-headers-3.2.0-40-generic-pae linux-headers-3.2.0-31-generic linux-headers-3.2.0-41 linux-headers-3.2.0-31-generic-pae linux-headers-3.2.0-41-generic linux-headers-3.2.0-32 linux-headers-3.2.0-41-generic-pae linux-headers-3.2.0-32-generic linux-headers-3.2.0-43 linux-headers-3.2.0-32-generic-pae Surely not all of these are actually needed? I've tried apt-get autoremove but it leaves them all be. I don't want to remove them manually, but this is crippling my machine. They also take up almost 2G of the 11G system partition that is getting full (80%) aside from the inode issue. How can I safely remove the headers that are not needed?

  • How to SEO Optimize Javascript Image Loader?

    - by skibulk
I am building an image-centric catalog website. It catalogs collectible gaming cards numbering 100,000+ pages. Competitor sites recieve millions of hits each month, so with the possibility of excessive traffic, I need to moderate image bandwidth while also optimizing for image SEO. I'm looking for some tips on doing so. Each page on the site features one card with appropriate tags and descriptions. There are however four images for each card - one on matte cardstock, one on foil cardstock, one digital, and one digital foil. In a world with unlimited bandwidth and no-wait page loads, I'd simply embed all four images on the main product page with titles, alt tags, and captions to rank them according to their version keyword. In reality a javascript gallery image loader seems appropriate. Here is a simplified example of my current code. Would this affect SEO in any way? Should I be doing anything differently? Note that I don't want to create a page for each image as I'd have to duplicate the card tags and descriptions on each one, diluting PR for the main page. Thanks for any insight! <script type="text/javascript"> document.write(' <img src="thumbnail1.jpg" data-src="version1.jpg"> <img src="thumbnail2.jpg" data-src="version2.jpg"> <img src="thumbnail3.jpg" data-src="version3.jpg"> <img src="thumbnail4.jpg" data-src="version4.jpg"> '); </script> <noscript> <img src="version1.jpg"> <img src="version2.jpg"> <img src="version3.jpg"> <img src="version4.jpg"> </noscript>

  • Standalone WLST for both WebLogic 8.1 and 9.2?

    - by imiric
Hi, I'm writing a simple script to facilitate changing JDBC connection URLs in several WL environments, among these both v8.1 and v9.2. I want to create a standalone script, outside of any WL installation, just including wlst.jar/jython.jar/weblogic.jar, that will work both on WL 8.1 and 9.2 (obviously by referencing different MBeans). Now, this works OK for WL 8.1. I copy weblogic.jar from the server, and have managed to get ahold of both wlst.jar and jython.jar (wasn't easy, Oracle doesn't host them anymore). Also I need to make sure to locally run under the same JRE as the server (WL8.1 runs on Java 1.4.2). But if I try to connect to WL 9.2 from this setup, I get a NullPointerException when trying to access any MBean (probably because I'm running on JRE 1.4.2 and WL 9.2 uses 1.5.0). Also, I am unable to create a standalone environment for WL 9.2. If I copy weblogic.jar from 9.2 and run WLST like so: java -cp "wlst.jar:jython.jar:weblogic-92.jar" weblogic.WLST I get a java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: weblogic/management/configuration/RepositoryMBean error. I can't find this class in weblogic92/server/lib, but it IS inside weblogic.jar from WL 8.1. So I'm really losing my patience here... Is there any way to create a standalone WLST client that can connect to any version of WebLogic (8.1 & 9.2 in the meantime)? I really wouldn't want to have to ssh into the WL environment to run my WLST script... Any ideas/suggestions are welcome. Thanks, Ivan

  • Setting up Metro 2.0 with Jetty 7

    - by trojanfoe
This question relates to a previous question of mine. I am attempting to set-up a low overhead Web Container using Jetty 7 that I can deploy Web Services using Metro 2.0. I have installed the following Metro 2.0 libs into jetty/lib: webservices-extra-api.jar webservices-extra.jar webservices-rt.jar webservices-tools.jar And the following into a new jetty/lib/endorsed directory: jsr173_api.jar webservices-api.jar I start Jetty with the following script (Windows) to ensure that jetty/lib/endorsed is part of the 'endorsed library path' and to ensure that Jetty adds the webservices jars to its classpath: @echo off set JETTY_HOME=C:\dev\jetty-7.1.0 set JAVA_OPTS=-Xmx1024m -XX:MaxPermSize=512m -Djetty.home=%JETTY_HOME% -Djava.endorsed.dirs=%JETTY_HOME%\lib\endorsed -Djetty.class.path=%JETTY_HOME%\lib\webservices-rt.jar;%JETTY_HOME%\lib\endorsed\webservices-api.jar -DSTOP.PORT=8079 -DSTOP.KEY=jettykey pushd %JETTY_HOME% java %JAVA_OPTS% -jar start.jar popd However when I deploy a WebServices war file (for example Metro sample 'pricequote'), I get the following exception: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: com.sun.xml.ws.transport.http.servlet.WSServletContextListener Can anyone help me with this please? I suspect it's related to the order of classes in Jetty's classpath?

  • iptables syn flood countermeasure

    - by Penegal
    I'm trying to adjust my iptables firewall to increase the security of my server, and I found something a bit problematic here : I have to set INPUT policy to ACCEPT and, in addition, to have a rule saying iptables -I INPUT -i eth0 -j ACCEPT. Here comes my script (launched manually for tests) : #!/bin/sh IPT=/sbin/iptables echo "Clearing firewall rules" $IPT -F $IPT -Z $IPT -t nat -F $IPT -t nat -Z $IPT -t mangle -F $IPT -t mangle -Z $IPT -X echo "Defining logging policy for dropped packets" $IPT -N LOGDROP $IPT -A LOGDROP -j LOG -m limit --limit 5/min --log-level debug --log-prefix "iptables rejected: " $IPT -A LOGDROP -j DROP echo "Setting firewall policy" $IPT -P INPUT DROP # Deny all incoming connections $IPT -P OUTPUT ACCEPT # Allow all outgoing connections $IPT -P FORWARD DROP # Deny all forwaring echo "Allowing connections from/to lo and incoming connections from eth0" $IPT -I INPUT -i lo -j ACCEPT $IPT -I OUTPUT -o lo -j ACCEPT #$IPT -I INPUT -i eth0 -j ACCEPT echo "Setting SYN flood countermeasures" $IPT -A INPUT -p tcp -i eth0 --syn -m limit --limit 100/second --limit-burst 200 -j LOGDROP echo "Allowing outgoing traffic corresponding to already initiated connections" $IPT -A OUTPUT -p ALL -m state --state ESTABLISHED,RELATED -j ACCEPT echo "Allowing incoming SSH" $IPT -A INPUT -p tcp --dport 22 -m state --state NEW -m recent --set --name SSH -j ACCEPT echo "Setting SSH bruteforce attacks countermeasures (deny more than 10 connections every 10 minutes)" $IPT -A INPUT -p tcp --dport 22 -m recent --update --seconds 600 --hitcount 10 --rttl --name SSH -j LOGDROP echo "Allowing incoming traffic for HTTP, SMTP, NTP, PgSQL and SolR" $IPT -A INPUT -p tcp --dport 25 -i eth0 -j ACCEPT $IPT -A INPUT -p tcp --dport 80 -i eth0 -j ACCEPT $IPT -A INPUT -p udp --dport 123 -i eth0 -j ACCEPT $IPT -A INPUT -p tcp --dport 5433 -i eth0.2654 -s 172.16.0.2 -j ACCEPT $IPT -A INPUT -p udp --dport 5433 -i eth0.2654 -s 172.16.0.2 -j ACCEPT $IPT -A INPUT -p tcp --dport 8983 -i eth0.2654 -s 172.16.0.2 -j ACCEPT $IPT -A INPUT -p udp --dport 8983 -i eth0.2654 -s 172.16.0.2 -j ACCEPT echo "Allowing outgoing traffic for ICMP, SSH, whois, SMTP, DNS, HTTP, PgSQL and SolR" $IPT -A OUTPUT -p tcp --dport 22 -j ACCEPT $IPT -A OUTPUT -p tcp --dport 25 -o eth0 -j ACCEPT $IPT -A OUTPUT -p tcp --dport 43 -o eth0 -j ACCEPT $IPT -A OUTPUT -p tcp --dport 53 -o eth0 -j ACCEPT $IPT -A OUTPUT -p udp --dport 53 -o eth0 -j ACCEPT $IPT -A OUTPUT -p tcp --dport 80 -o eth0 -j ACCEPT $IPT -A OUTPUT -p udp --dport 80 -o eth0 -j ACCEPT #$IPT -A OUTPUT -p tcp --dport 5433 -o eth0 -d 176.31.236.101 -j ACCEPT #$IPT -A OUTPUT -p udp --dport 5433 -o eth0 -d 176.31.236.101 -j ACCEPT #$IPT -A OUTPUT -p tcp --dport 8983 -o eth0 -d 176.31.236.101 -j ACCEPT #$IPT -A OUTPUT -p udp --dport 8983 -o eth0 -d 176.31.236.101 -j ACCEPT $IPT -A OUTPUT -p tcp --sport 5433 -o eth0.2654 -j ACCEPT $IPT -A OUTPUT -p udp --sport 5433 -o eth0.2654 -j ACCEPT $IPT -A OUTPUT -p tcp --sport 8983 -o eth0.2654 -j ACCEPT $IPT -A OUTPUT -p udp --sport 8983 -o eth0.2654 -j ACCEPT $IPT -A OUTPUT -p icmp -j ACCEPT echo "Allowing outgoing FTP backup" $IPT -A OUTPUT -p tcp --dport 20:21 -o eth0 -d 91.121.190.78 -j ACCEPT echo "Dropping and logging everything else" $IPT -A INPUT -s 0/0 -j LOGDROP $IPT -A OUTPUT -j LOGDROP $IPT -A FORWARD -j LOGDROP echo "Firewall loaded." echo "Maintaining new rules for 3 minutes for tests" sleep 180 $IPT -nvL echo "Clearing firewall rules" $IPT -F $IPT -Z $IPT -t nat -F $IPT -t nat -Z $IPT -t mangle -F $IPT -t mangle -Z $IPT -X $IPT -P INPUT ACCEPT $IPT -P OUTPUT ACCEPT $IPT -P FORWARD ACCEPT When I launch this script (I only have a SSH access), the shell displays every message up to Maintaining new rules for 3 minutes for tests, the server is unresponsive during the 3 minutes delay and then resume normal operations. The only solution I found until now was to set $IPT -P INPUT ACCEPT and $IPT -I INPUT -i eth0 -j ACCEPT, but this configuration does not protect me of any attack, which is a great shame for a firewall. I suspect that the error comes from my script and not from iptables, but I don't understand what's wrong with my script. Could some do-gooder explain me my error, please? • Project in Eclipse that builds a jar used by another project in Eclipse

    - by Paul Tomblin
I have several projects open in Eclipse. One of them is the main app, and others build jars used by that main app. How do I make it so that when I hit F3 on a method call in the main app that it takes me to the source in the other project instead of taking me to the class file in the Libraries list? I got it so that it shows me the source, but I can't actually edit it like it could if I go to the other project, and similarly when I step through in the debugger it doesn't go into the editable code. I don't know if it's relevant, but we're using Maven to handle the dependencies. I know this should be simple, but I haven't found the option.

  • eclipse mtj - proguard : obfuscate third party jar error

    - by robinmag
i use proguard (support in mtj plugin) to obfuscate a project that has some third party jars but i gives me errors: Your input classes appear to be inconsistent. You may need to recompile them and try again. Alternatively, you may have to specify the options '-dontskipnonpubliclibraryclasses' and/or '-dontskipnonpubliclibraryclassmembers'. It seems that proguard use the classes in JavaSE. It only happens with projects that use third party jars :( Thank you in advanced!

  • Batch and the for loop

    - by Farid
Hi everyone, I have a java application launched by a .cmd file. I want to set the classpath of the application through this batch, all the needed jars are into a lib folder. Here is what I tried : set _classpath=. for %%i in (%1/lib/*.*) do ( set _classpath=%_classpath%;%%i ) Surprisingly, it seems that it does not act as expected. Let's say there is 3 jar in the lib folder : pikachu.jar sonic.jar mario.jar Here is what happens : set _classpath=. set _classpath=.;pikachu.jar set _classpath=.;sonic.jar set _classpath=.;mario.jar Obviously, what I am looking to get is set _classpath=.;pikachu.jar;sonic.jar;mario.jar Any idea ? Thanks and regards,

  • Running server-program from a .jar file

    - by skiwi
I have created and am working on a server-application that monitors for specific folders and takes appropriate actions whenever files are being added. Now I come to the point where I want to be able to shutdown the program, for example for applying a patch. The server runs simply in a command prompt, how can I signal that I want to perform maintenance on it? I do not think reading System. In is feasible as I am also outputting text in the prompt. Regards.

  • ADF Reusable Artefacts

    - by Arda Eralp
Primary reusable ADF Business Component: Entity Objects (EOs) View Objects (VOs) Application Modules (AMs) Framework Extensions Classes Primary reusable ADF Controller: Bounded Task Flows (BTFs) Task Flow Templates Primary reusable ADF Faces: Page Templates Skins Declarative Components Utility Classes Certain components will often be used more than once. Whether the reuse happens within the same application, or across different applications, it is often advantageous to package these reusable components into a library that can be shared between different developers, across different teams, and even across departments within an organization. In the world of Java object-oriented programming, reusing classes and objects is just standard procedure. With the introduction of the model-view-controller (MVC) architecture, applications can be further modularized into separate model, view, and controller layers. By separating the data (model and business services layers) from the presentation (view and controller layers), you ensure that changes to any one layer do not affect the integrity of the other layers. You can change business logic without having to change the UI, or redesign the web pages or front end without having to recode domain logic. Oracle ADF and JDeveloper support the MVC design pattern. When you create an application in JDeveloper, you can choose many application templates that automatically set up data model and user interface projects. Because the different MVC layers are decoupled from each other, development can proceed on different projects in parallel and with a certain amount of independence. ADF Library further extends this modularity of design by providing a convenient and practical way to create, deploy, and reuse high-level components. When you first design your application, you design it with component reusability in mind. If you created components that can be reused, you can package them into JAR files and add them to a reusable component repository. If you need a component, you may look into the repository for those components and then add them into your project or application. For example, you can create an application module for a domain and package it to be used as the data model project in several different applications. Or, if your application will be consuming components, you may be able to load a page template component from a repository of ADF Library JARs to create common look and feel pages. Then you can put your page flow together by stringing together several task flow components pulled from the library. An ADF Library JAR contains ADF components and does not, and cannot, contain other JARs. It should not be confused with the JDeveloper library, Java EE library, or Oracle WebLogic shared library. Reusable Component Description Data Control Any data control can be packaged into an ADF Library JAR. Some of the data controls supported by Oracle ADF include application modules, Enterprise JavaBeans, web services, URL services, JavaBeans, and placeholder data controls. Application Module When you are using ADF Business Components and you generate an application module, an associated application module data control is also generated. When you package an application module data control, you also package up the ADF Business Components associated with that application module. The relevant entity objects, view objects, and associations will be a part of the ADF Library JAR and available for reuse. Business Components Business components are the entity objects, view objects, and associations used in the ADF Business Components data model project. You can package business components by themselves or together with an application module. Task Flows & Task Flow Templates Task flows can be packaged into an ADF Library JAR for reuse. If you drop a bounded task flow that uses page fragments, JDeveloper adds a region to the page and binds it to the dropped task flow. ADF bounded task flows built using pages can be dropped onto pages. The drop will create a link to call the bounded task flow. A task flow call activity and control flow will automatically be added to the task flow, with the view activity referencing the page. If there is more than one existing task flow with a view activity referencing the page, it will prompt you to select the one to automatically add a task flow call activity and control flow. If an ADF task flow template was created in the same project as the task flow, the ADF task flow template will be included in the ADF Library JAR and will be reusable. Page Templates You can package a page template and its artifacts into an ADF Library JAR. If the template uses image files and they are included in a directory within your project, these files will also be available for the template during reuse. Declarative Components You can create declarative components and package them for reuse. The tag libraries associated with the component will be included and loaded into the consuming project. You can also package up projects that have several different reusable components if you expect that more than one component will be consumed. For example, you can create a project that has both an application module and a bounded task flow. When this ADF Library JAR file is consumed, the application will have both the application module and the task flow available for use. You can package multiple components into one JAR file, or you can package a single component into a JAR file. Oracle ADF and JDeveloper give you the option and flexibility to create reusable components that best suit you and your organization. You create a reusable component by using JDeveloper to package and deploy the project that contains the components into a ADF Library JAR file. You use the components by adding that JAR to the consuming project. At design time, the JAR is added to the consuming project's class path and so is available for reuse. At runtime, the reused component runs from the JAR file by reference.
