  • Wordpress Blank White Page for Login

    When I go to the /wp-login.php portion of my Wordpress site I get a blank white screen. In fact, throughout the entire domain I get blank white screen. Also, I can't even connect to the server via FTP (tried with other FTP accts to make sure not FTP client). Is this an issue with the host or my WP? Not even sure how to fix it if it's on my end cuz I can't even login to FTP or to the Admin Dashboard! Any help = appreciated.

    I'm trying to setup a single website (domain) that contains both a front end Wordpress installation and a single directory Ruby on Rails application. I can get either one to work successfully on their own, but can't sort out the configuration that would let me coexist.     I am maintaining a large number of wordpress installs on a production server, and we are looking to deploy InfiniteWP for managing these installs. I am looking for a way to script the distribution of the plugin folder to all of these installs. On server wp-prod, all sites are stored in /srv//site/ The plugin needs to be copied from ~/iws-plugin to /srv//site/wp-content/plugins/ Here's some pseudo code to explain what I need to do: array dirs = <all folders in /srv> for each d in dirs if exits "/srv/d/site/wp-content/plugins" rsync -avzh --log-file=~/d.log ~/plugin_base_folder /srv/d/site/wp-content/plugins/ else touch d.log echo 'plugin folder for "d" not found' >> ~/d.log end end I just don't know how to make it happen from the cli or via bash. I can (and will) tinker with a bash or ruby script on my test server, but I'm thinking the command-line-fu here on SF is strong enough to handle this issue much more quickly than I can hack together a solution.     I'm currently setting up WordPress on an Ubuntu server 12 everything runs fine but there is an issue when it comes to automatically updating and uploading media via WP as Apache "www-data" user does not have permissions to write to the directories. "user1" has full permission All my directories have permissions of 0755 and files 644 my directories setup is as follows: /home/user1/public_html All WP files and directories are in "public_html" In order to work around the auto updating and uploading media I've granted Apache user ownership to the following directories sudo chown www-data:www-data wp-content -R sudo chown www-data:www-data wp-includes -R sudo chown www-data:www-data wp-admin -R I would like to know security wise how secure this is and if it is not secure what would be the best solution? That will allow me to keep all files and directories owned by user1 and still allow wp to be able to automatically update and uploading media

    Every now and then, often when I write a post on my Dreamhost DreamPress WordPress blog I get this Varnish related error: Error 503 Service Unavailable Service Unavailable Guru Meditation: XID: 180706672 Varnish cache server I did a related post here Varnish & ISPConfig under Debian give error 503 but they only tell me it could be an Apache Virtual Hosts issue and that the defined hosts should be checked. But that thread was on a different XID and just a comment, not an accepted solution. So perhaps this situation is different. Any ideas?

I request you to please provide me the .htaccess code, so that I can REMOVE the trailing slash. Kindly remember, I don't want WWW also and I have already set .htaccess rule for the removal of WWW Note: 3 Years back when I started the blog, I set the Permalinks Structure without trailing slash.     Hey SuperUsers, I hope this is the right section to post this kind of question. If it's not, I am sorry. But to my question: I created a working WordPress blog, running locally with MAMP Pro. I wanted to share my site, and thought I would go public with it, but self hosted. I signed up at DynDNS for my domain and got it working. People can connect, myself included of course. But here goes my problem: Everytime I try to access my website (**.dyndns.info:8888), I am able to access it, but the theme and pictures are gone, so it's only pure text with some links. I can provide a picture of the website if you want it? But what is it I am doing wrong? I tried to enable Web Sharing, but that didn't make a difference. I can use the tlbimp.exe to generate a interop.CarCom.dll, and then use the COM through this interop dll, but I want this interop assembly to be generated automatically when I just add reference to the COM.     I need to remove some malware from my computer. It is a trojan, and very annoying. It blocks access to Google and search sites. The trojan, with its name spelled out on each line cause it seems to block sites when i reference it in a url, is a r t (some text to mess it up) e m (more text i s First off, what is it, what does it do? Second, why can't I access google or yahoo or any other search sites at all? Third, can it be removed via McAffee? It says it quarantined it when I scanned I found a suspicious process "c"s"r"s"s".exe and it will not let me terminate it, and this is what Mcaffee says it is. Why on earth isn't Mcaffee getting rid of it? I even blocked internet access for this program. Thanks so much, I get kinda freaked out with things like this...   • HTMLUNIT Facebook javascript warning

    Hi I am trying to create simple application that would be able to search people on facebook using given e-mail. I am already able to log into an account using the HTMLunit tool and even create a page, which should throw result of my search. But when I try to print the result as XML the file is missing some blocks of javascript results (I can tell that they are missing by comparing file created by my application and source code, that can be viewed by using IE) Is there any way around this? I just need to get the same result IE's showsource function does. Thanks a lot.     I have an ExpressionEngine site at http://example.com and a WordPress blog at http://example.com/blog ...the problem is, any WP pages that don't map directly to an index.php end up being handled by ExpressionEngine, which results in a 404. For example, http://example.com/blog and http://example.com/blog/wp-admin both work fine as they both directly use an index.php in those folders, but http://example.com/blog/category/tag/something gets handled by ExpressionEngine. So how can I modify the ExpressionEngine .htaccess file to tell it to ignore anything in the /blog directory? Mostly cribed settings from here. The shm was meant to be whittled down from such a high value after some observation, but apparently such a large value isn't even high enough.... I found an similar question/answer here. I do have some virtual hosts setup, but they aren't being touched much at all. Having users logged into the admin panel of WP does make things worse, but that's certainly not the main culprit. The question asker seems to suggest that it turns out W3TC is probably causing the problem, which the plugin author seems to agree with, but there aren't any helpful details beyond that. Why is it causing the problem? Do I just take it for now and turn off object caching with APC? Is there nothing I can do? Does having it turned on without being used for object caching actually help anything? Would memcache be an ok substitute just for object caching here? Finally, maybe I just shouldn't worry so much about the fragmentation?

    Hello, I had a problem and after some research I discovered the exactly point where is failing. blog.domain.com Is not working, it says that the page cannot be found (404) blog.domain.com/index.php Working as expected If you click on Home, it will says that the page cannot be found, if you try to preview a new post, it says that the page cannot be found... I can see every post btw. I run my blog on a Windows hosting using IIS. my permalink is this: /index.php/%postname% IIRC I had to use index.php because my IIS doesn't have URL rewriting. I have no problem with the index.php thing on the url, I have now a good SEO and I don't want to change my permalink but I Don't know why is not working now... just from one day to the next... It's a problem of WP or is just my host messing up? If is my blog, do you know what is causing this? (Just for create a concrete ticket about the exactly problem) Thank you.

    I have a wordpress pre-made site which were developed on my localmachine, and i uploaded it too a vps running on debian6, using nginx, mysql, php. Following this guide: 1) Create an unprivilaged user, this could be say 'karl' or whatever, and make them belong to the www-data group. So that if I were to login as karl and create a web root in say /home/karl/www/ , all the files will be owned by karl:www-data 2) Set up nginx as the user www-data in nginx.conf 3) Set up PHP-FPM to run as www-data 4) Place your files in /home/karl/www/[domain name maybe]/public_html/, upload as 'karl' so you don't have to chown everything again. when i type ls -l inside public_html/ it shows that all the files inside are owned by karl:karl. But the public_html directory is owned by karl:www-data. I chmod 0755 the folder wp-content but i still get the error: ERROR: Path ../wp-content/connection_images does not seem to be writeable. I know i shouldn't set it too 777 due to security reason, how should i set it too proper permission? and what should i set also to allow my users to upload,write posts,edit articles? Sorry for my english by the way.

    I have 6 WordPress websites running on 1 single EC2 instance. All the the websites are connecting to databases in 1 same RDS instance. Earlier today, traffic to the largest website peaked and the RDS instance went bottle-neck - CPU utilization was 100% for over an hour. It affected all of my websites as it took them all forever to load. In order to prevent such issue from happening again, which of the following will matter most so that I invest time and effort in first of all? (I will work on all later, I just need to prioritise now) To improve caching for all websites To fine-tune the database server To fine-tune my Apache server What will be the effect on user experience for my websites? Some quick searches show that I should limit number of concurrent connections to my web server but wouldn't that prevent users from accessing my websites? More background: My largest website has 140k visits and 660k page views a month. The other 5 websites should add up much less than that. I'm using a large EC2 instance as the web server I'm using a medium RDS instance as the database server What I've already done: Use W3 Total Cache plugin for caching for most the websites, especially the largest one (I can barely anything else in terms of caching I could do for the largest website) Am I using my resources wastefully or is there simply not enough resources for my websites - or rather, how do I answer that question myself?

  • What is a good WordPress theme for long Objective-C code samples [closed]

    As some of you iPhone developers know, Objective-C can be a verbose language. Long, descriptive variable and method names are the norm. I'm not complaining, it makes code easier to read and code completion makes it easy to type. But damn! Check out this method name for getting a cell in a table view: -(UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath; I have a WordPress blog where I publish my code samples as I'm learning the language. One thing I hate on other blogs is how the code won't fit in a column without that scroll bar or without wrapping around. It really made it hard for me to read and comprehend method names back when I was a super-noob (six months ago). Right now I use the clean-looking Fazyvo 1.0 theme by noonnoo. I love the look of it but the columns are just too narrow and it doesn't have support for wider ones. I could hand-modify it but then I'd have to maintain/redo those changes every time I updated it. Instead, I'm looking for a nice theme that has width control built-in and looks good at larger font sizes. Can anyone help? Note: I use WP-CodeBox for code syntax highlighting.

  • Browser says "Waiting for www.xyz.com" for a very long time

    When I load my website (hosted with Ipage). The browser often takes an incredible long time saying "Waiting for www.xyz.com ..." before any elements of the site actually appear. After this "Waiting for" process, the text, images and everything else actually load quite fast. I contacted my host with my tracert result and they said they optimized my website database and increased the memory available to PHP on my account to 64 Mb.They also said they have checked the issue by accessing my website and found that it is loading fine without any slowness. It seems to be a temporary issue. Please try to access your website with different browser and network. I tried different browsers and networks but this "Waiting for" process always takes too long. My website is http://www.surreyextra.com/ . It's Wordpress and BuddyPress. I'm in the UK while Ipage host is placed in the USA, can this potentially be a problem? I have tried a number of optimizations, like minifying my CSS and JS files and use catching but the problem hasn't improved. So is it my host's fault, should I contact them again?

  • Can't access WordPress blog after host changed IP address of server

    My host changed servers and all websites now have a new IP address. I have the same domain name and I assume the host runs the same nameservers, though my host and domain name provider are different. Notes: I never entered a Name or description under General/Settings for my blog. I left them both blank. That is when I could log into it. The wp-config file, has localhost entered rather than a specific IP. Again this has always been the case and my host never advised otherwise. I can get into cPanel by simply putting the newly advised IP in front of /Cpanel. However, I can not reach the admin panel of my WordPress blog (version 2.8.2). I had been loggin into it via http://xx.xx.xxx.xx/~example/blog/wp-login.php. My host suggested to simply insert the new IP in place of the old one. I still get the error message: 404 Not Found The server can not find the requested page: Apache/2.0.63 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.0.63 OpenSSL/0.9.8e-fips-rhel5 mod_auth_passthrough/2.1 mod_bwlimited/1.4 FrontPage/5.0.2.2635 PHP/5.2.12 Server at 74.50.108.14 Port 80 I followed some tips on a question on Stack Overflow of a similar nature. I have logged into phpMyAdmin and found the wp-options table and searched for SELECT * FROM `wp_options` WHERE `option_name` IN ('siteurl', 'home') Only option ID 39 came up and the results are: Home has optionvalue http://example.org siteurl has optionvalue http://example.org/blog Both of which appear correct. Is there any part of the MySQL tables where I can change an actual IP address? Or is there something else you can advise?

    Let me start off by saying that I'm a Centos newby, so all info, links and suggestions are very welcome! I recently set up a hosted server with Centos 6 and configured it as a webserver. The websites running on it are nothing special, just some low traffic projects. I tried to configure the server as default as possible, but I like it to be secure as well (no ftp, custom ssh port). Getting my Wordpress to run as desired, I'm running into some connection problems. 2 things are not working: installing plugins and updates through ssh2 (failed to connect to localhost:sshportnumber) sending emails from my site using the Gmail smtp (Failed to connect to server: Permission denied (13)) I have the feeling that these are both related to the iptables configuration, because I've tried everything else (I think). I tried opening up the firewall to accept traffic for ports 465 (gmail smtp) and ssh port (lets say this port is 8000), but both the issues remain. Ssh connections from the terminal are working fine though. After each change I tried implementing I restarted the iptables service.
