    I have the following ColdFusion 9 code: <cfloop from="1" to="#arrayLen(tagArray)#" index="i"> <cfquery name="qryGetSPFAQs" datasource="#application.datasource#"> EXEC searchFAQ '#tagArray[i]#' </cfquery> </cfloop> The EXEC executes a stored procedure on the database server, which returns rows of data, depending on what the parameter is. What I am trying to do is combine the queries into one query object. In other words, if it loops 3 times and each loop returns 4 rows, I want a query object that has all 12 rows in one object. How do I acheive this?

I am trying to add an AnnotationSessionFactoryBean to my Spring Context in either postProcessBeanFactory or postProcessBeanDefinitionRegistry. I need to do this programatically so that I can configure the object at runtime.   • Dynamic query to immediate execute?

    I am using the MSDN Dynamic linq to sql package. It allows using strings for queries. But, the returned type is an IQueryable and not an IQueryable<T>. I do not have the ToList() method. How can I this immediate execute without manually enumerating over the IQueryable? My goal is to databind to the Selecting event on a linqtosql datasource and that throws a datacontext disposed exception. I can set the query as the Datasource on a gridview though. Any help greatly appreciated! Thanks. The dynamic linq to sql is the one from the samples that comes with visual studio.

  • Getting my webapp to be database agnostic with Hibernate...

    So the ultimate in scope-creep came in the other day: since we're using Hibernate, could we make our webapp run on Oracle as well as MySQL, interchangably? I thought this would be a simple case of changing hibernate.cfg.xml so that instead of explicity stating MySQL-specific options, it would reference a JNDI datasource, allowing the application to build regardless of the database we intend to deploy to. Then changing to a different database would simply mean changing the separate datasource configuration in JBoss, Jetty, WebLogic etc. Is this realistic? Well, I got as far as setting that up in Jetty, but What's tripping me up right now is error about the hibernate.dialect not having been set in hibernate.cfg.xml. But If I set the dialect there, then my app is still going to be built in either MySQL or Oracle flavours, which is not really what I want. Either I'm trying to attempt the impossible or I've missed something fundamentally obvious... anyone else had a similar problem (and subsequent solution/workaround)?

    I hava a Background Worker and a DataGrid in my c# Application. In do work of my Backgroundworker which will call an Api in my dlls which will enter some Data in a SQLite Database. After the Completion of my Api call I report a progress and In progress event of my Backgroundworker I get the contents from Db and assign it as a DataSource to my grid. I call same API in same backgroundworker. In the middle of processing my application crashes. But If I dont assign the dataSource in ProgressChanged my application doesnt crashes.

Right now they are all DataTables, which isn't very space efficient (the rule of thumb is 10x increase in size when data is strored in a dataset). Old Code DataTable table = dataAccess.GetDataTable(); dropDownList.DataSource = table; Hoped for new Code Unknown data = dataAccess.GetSomethingMoreSpaceEfficient(); dropDownList.DataSource = data; What pre-existing datastructures are similar enough to DataTable that would minimize code breakage and reduce the serialized size when stored in ASP.NET cache?

    Hi, I'm doing a gridview with an object datasource: List<MyObject> TheSource = a linq query At some point, I have MyGridview.DataSource = TheSource; MyGridview.Databind(); and an OnRowDataBound event handler that's tied to the databinding. In that event handler, how do you make column 2 contain 2 objects from TheSource. For instance, in the TheSource, there is a variable for FirstName and another one for LastName. Column 2 needs to contain both the first and last name in the same cell. Thanks.

    I have come across the ASP.NET ready made controls like grid, repeater... etc. For example while dealing with GRID i remember following facts, ASP.NET V1.1 has DataGrid with "virtual row count" which is heavily used for custom paging which is need of big sites to perform well. ASP.NET V2.0 added the GridView with all sort of cool features but also split the DataSource parts as different component. Also "virtual row count" is not supported and for pagination to be done DataSource control is need to be used. After all these thing i thought that ASP.NET control are not made to be used as is for the development. Please let me know whether i am right or wrong? Also if you think i am wrong PLEASE provide inputs/links which can help me come out of this thinking of mine.

  • Hibernate/Spring: getHibernateTemplate().save(...) Freezes/Hangs

    I'm using Hibernate and Spring with the DAO pattern (all Hibernate dependencies in a *DAO.java class). I have nine unit tests (JUnit) which create some business objects, save them, and perform operations on them; the objects are in a hash (so I'm reusing the same objects all the time). My JUnit setup method calls my DAO.deleteAllObjects() method which calls getSession().createSQLQuery("DELETE FROM <tablename>").executeUpdate() for my business object table (just one). One of my unit tests (#8/9) freezes. I presumed it was a database deadlock, because the Hibernate log file shows my delete statement last. However, debugging showed that it's simply HibernateTemplate.save(someObject) that's freezing. (Eclipse shows that it's freezing on HibernateTemplate.save(Object), line 694.) Also interesting to note is that running this test by itself (not in the suite of 9 tests) doesn't cause any problems. How on earth do I troubleshoot and fix this? Also, I'm using @Entity annotations, if that matters. Edit: I removed reuse of my business objects (use unique objects in every method) -- didn't make a difference (still freezes).     HI,I need to create a GridView which DataSource is an object. Depending on the object I may need some columns with DropDownLists or TextFields (but not all rows) As I don't know the number or columns, they have to be dynamic. I found this solution: TemplateField t = new TemplateField(); t.HeaderTemplate = new GridViewTemplate("header", "title"); t.ItemTemplate = new GridViewTemplate("combobox", "val"); GridView1.Columns.Add(t); GridView1.DataSource = ds; GridView1.DataBind(); Where GridViewTemplate extends ITemplate. This didn't work for me, it fills all rows of a column and I had no way to control witch DropDownList and TextFields need to be created (object info). All the DropDownLists need to have an ID also only known by the object. There are some way I can do this?

    What command line tool can I use to automatically insert mtimes into urls in my css files for the purposes of breaking the cache? /* before */ .example { background: url(example.jpg); } /* after */ .example { background: url(example.jpg?1271298451); } Also, I would like this tool to spit out the latest mtime as the css files mtime. (If the css file is still cached then the new urls will not get to the client.) In searching the web, I have found very few tools that can do this. I am even considering rolling my own, but have found very little in the way of css parsers that are actively maintained. A candidate should be: fast (I don't want to wait 30 seconds on deployment) command line accessible (something like "cat foo.css bar.css | cssmtime out.css") What I've found so Far yui compressor - initially I thought I would extend the yui compressor to do this, but found that it is implemented as a bunch of regex's and not a parser. csstidy - last release was in 2007 and development has been suspended, but does have an option for inserting mtimes (also written in php, something I have no experience in) cssutils - python sac implementation - seems to be actively maintained, but also seems like overkill for my needs. Also, written in python which I have experience with csspool - ruby sac implementation - I don't know much ruby, but would like to learn other sac implementations - There are several java implementations, and a c implementation neither of which I know much about What's your experience? Have you used any of these libraries? Was the experience positive? Would you recommend I go with them for my purposes?

    I am working on a ASP.net project created with local file system settings. I am using MVC and Jquery. Jquery is working fine when I run the application in debug mode i.e. in ASP.net Development server. I am trying to host the application in IIS 7. In hosted mode, it does not recognize Jquery and gives scripting error 'Jquery is undefined'. The locations of the script files is unchanged in both modes. Can anybody have any clue what can be the reason and how to solve this.   • Metro: Introduction to the WinJS ListView Control

    The goal of this blog entry is to provide a quick introduction to the ListView control – just the bare minimum that you need to know to start using the control. When building Metro style applications using JavaScript, the ListView control is the primary control that you use for displaying lists of items. For example, if you are building a product catalog app, then you can use the ListView control to display the list of products. The ListView control supports several advanced features that I plan to discuss in future blog entries. For example, you can group the items in a ListView, you can create master/details views with a ListView, and you can efficiently work with large sets of items with a ListView. In this blog entry, we’ll keep things simple and focus on displaying a list of products. There are three things that you need to do in order to display a list of items with a ListView: Create a data source Create an Item Template Declare the ListView Creating the ListView Data Source The first step is to create (or retrieve) the data that you want to display with the ListView. In most scenarios, you will want to bind a ListView to a WinJS.Binding.List object. The nice thing about the WinJS.Binding.List object is that it enables you to take a standard JavaScript array and convert the array into something that can be bound to the ListView. It doesn’t matter where the JavaScript array comes from. It could be a static array that you declare or you could retrieve the array as the result of an Ajax call to a remote server. The following JavaScript file – named products.js – contains a list of products which can be bound to a ListView. To avoid polluting the global namespace, the code above uses the module pattern and exposes the products using a namespace. The list of products is exposed to the world as ListViewDemos.products. It doesn’t know how you want each list item to appear. To get the ListView control to render something useful, you must create an Item Template. Normally, you will declare your template in the same file as you declare the ListView control. In our case, both the template and ListView are declared in the default.html file. The data-win-options attribute is used to set two properties of the ListView. The ListView is associated with its data source with the itemDataSource property. Notice that the data source is ListViewDemos.products.dataSource and not just ListViewDemos.products. You need to associate the ListView with the dataSoure property. The ListView is associated with its item template with the help of the itemTemplate property. The ID of the item template — #productTemplate – is used to select the template from the page. This procedure must be repeated for each MS SQL Server installation that will be involved in a distributed transaction.To install stored procedures for JTA:1. Copy the appropriate sqljdbc.dll and instjdbc.sql files from the WL_HOME\server\lib directory to the SQL_Server_Root/bin directory of the MS SQL Server database server, where WL_HOME is the directory in which WebLogic server is installed, typically c:\Oracle\Middleware\wlserver_10.x.  Note:  If you are installing stored procedures on a database server with multiple Microsoft SQL Server instances, each running SQL Server instance must be able to locate the sqljdbc.dll file.Therefore the sqljdbc.dll file needs to be anywhere on the global PATH or on the application-specific path. For the application-specific path, place the sqljdbc.dll file into the :\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL$\Binn directory for each instance. 2. From the database server, use the ISQL utility to run the instjdbc.sql script. As a precaution, have your system administrator back up the master database before running instjdbc.sql. At a command prompt, use the following syntax to run instjdbc.sql:  ISQL -Usa -Psa_password -Sserver_name -ilocation\instjdbc.sql  where:  sa_password is the password of the system administrator.  server_name is the name of the server on which SQL Server resides.  location is the full path to instjdbc.sql. (You copied this script to the SQL_Server_Root/bin directory in step 1.)  The instjdbc.sql script generates many messages. In general, these messages can be ignored; however, the system administrator should scan the output for any messages that may indicate an execution error. The last message should indicate that instjdbc.sql ran successfully. The script fails when there is insufficient space available in the master database to store the JDBC XA procedures or to log changes to existing procedures.
