Like transfer logs they support piped logging though so you can still use rotatelogs for them. " So my question is: what would be the best way to handle multiple logs? If I just do a very classical log and I use the system's "logrotate" program couldn't this be a good deal? How would/do you deal with that? Thank you!

  my project need to migrate from oc4j to jboss. But it seems that default EJB transaction attribute is different between them. For OC4J: If you do not specify any transaction attributes for an EJB method then OC4J uses default transaction attributes. OC4J by default uses Required for CMP 2.0, NotSupported for MDBs and Supports for all other types of EJBs. (refer to official doc) For JBoss: default for all types EJB is Required. (Maybe , refer to un-official site) To migrate my project within less effort, how to config a default global EJB transaction attribute, e.g. Supports, in JBoss Server?

• Apache file appearing in directory list, but giving 404 when attempting access?

  Please forgive my lack of knowledge, this is more of a learning project than anything else. I have a linux box, and it works pretty much fine. When i go to example.com/css it says theres one file in there, bootstrap.min.css When i go to example.com/css/bootstrap.min.css, it gives me a 404 error. I have only one htaccess file to remove the index.php from the url, which also i renamed to htaccess (Instead of .htaccess, so apache wont find it) and i restarted the server, yet no help. I also tried to chmod the css file 755 but no help. Contents of the htaccess file: RewriteEngine On RewriteBase / # Allow any files or directories that exist to be displayed directly RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?/$1 [L,QSA] Please help, i am very confused about this. I tried to google excessively but i came up with nothing. Edit: I found the solution to be renamed the htaccess file to something entirely different and restarting. Is there any way i can still implement the losing of the .php?

• How should I configure my Apache Hosts File to serve a different site for localhost than for my domain/publicip?

  I'm trying to test out a LAMP (with PHP5 specifically) setup with Django already serving a website. I want to do the PHP stuff on localhost for now, so that when I do something like this: curl http://localhost/database/script.php?var=1, I get a response from the php server. Right now I'm getting a Django error. I tried something like this in the default file in sites-available: Listen 80 <VirtualHost aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd> ServerName localhost DocumentRoot /home/phpsite </VirtualHost> where aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd is the local ip address, and changing my actual site's settings to specify the public ip, like this: Listen 80 <VirtualHost www.xxx.yyy.zzz> ServerName mysite.com DocumentRoot /srv/www/mysite WSGIScriptAlias / /srv/www/mysite.wsgi </VirtualHost> but then I start getting all kinds of errors when I start apache, such as port ::[80] is already in use or something. I noticed that the hosts file that's located in /etc/apache2/ is apparently pointing everything to mysite.com, including my local ip as well as 127.0.0.1 and 127.0.1.1; Do I need to change the configuration there too?

• C#.NET Reload configuration settings from an external config file during run-time.

  I'm writing a game server in C#.Net and would like to reload or refresh settings from a config file while the server is running. Ideally I would like to save the settings in an XML file, have the ability to edit the file while the game server is running and then send the server the command to reload the settings from the file. I know I can use a database to do this as well, but the game server is fairly small and I think it would be more practical to just save settings in a flat-file. I will have file-level access to the machine the server will run on. What should I use?

• Is it possible to easily modify the log4net section in the config file of several running applicatio

  Dear ladies and sirs. Our product consists of client, server and agents. Each deployed on different machines. The QA is having a hard time to manipulate the log4net sections in the respective config files. Right now, they have to have remote desktops to all the relevant machines and open notepad in each of them and then edit the files one at a time switching between different machines as they proceed. A real pain in the ass. Can anyone suggest a better solution to this problem? Thanks.

  Hi, I've been messing with this for a few hours, and I just can't get the text to be replaced at all. I really can't believe it's taking so long, especially because I did this a few months ago and got it to work in minutes. Anyway, here is my site I'm working on: http://www.moreheadplanetarium.org/regeneration/test/vision.php and I want to replace the h1 tag (Morehead's Vision). I don't know what's wrong, since I've done everything I know to do. I'm jumping back into web design and using Firebug, and when I check the scripts it only has sifr.js and sifr-debug.js in the list, so I'm assuming the config isn't loading but I have no idea what could be the hold up... How do you get the debug to work btw? thanks!

  Hi, We're writing a web-based tool to configure our services provided by multiple servers. This includes interfaces configuration, dhcp configs etc. etc. Having configs in database and views that generate proper output, how to send it/make it available for servers? I'm thinking about sending it through scp and invoking reload command to services through ssh. I'm also thinking about using Func to do all the job, as this is Python tool and will seemingly integrate with python-based (django) config tool. Any other proposals?

• SpringMvc java.lang.NullPointerException When Posting Form To Server [closed]

  I have a form with a user name field on it when i tab out of the field i use a RESTFUL Web Service that makes a call to a handler method in the controller. The method makes a call to a DAO class that checks the database if the user name exists. This works fine, however when the form is posted to the server i call the same exact function i would call in the handler method however i get a java.lang.NullPointerException when it accesses the class that makes a call to the DAO object. So it does not even access the DAO object the second time. I have exception handlers around the calls in all my classes that makes calls. Any ideas as to whats happening here why i would get the java.lang.NullPointerException the second time the function is called.Does this have anything to do with Spring instantiating DAO classes using a Singleton method or something to that effect? What can be done to resolve this? • SSL HandShakeException: No_Certificate. Using IBM's J9 JVM and Apache Tomcat

  I am developing a mobile application that is to run on a Windows Mobile PDA. The application is written in Java and to run it we are using the J9 JVM from IBM. The application communicates with an Apache Tomcat server over HTTP and we are trying to set it up now to use SSL. I have generated public/private keys for both the client and the server, exported their self signed certificates and imported them into the respective keystores. Initially I tried to just get it working using only server side authentication and that was successful. But I am now trying to get mutual authentication by setting clientAuth="true" in the server.xml file in the apache conf directory. I have enabled the SSL logging on the server and when the client connects the server reports an SSLProtocolException: handshake alert: no_certificate. • How to establish a socket connection from iPhone to a Apache server and communicate via PHP?

  Hi, I am working on an iPhone game which is depended on a LAMP server. I want to create a "event" based system where the apache server sends an event to the iphone. For this, I am thinking of using "CFStreamCreatePairWithSocketToHost" to connect to port 80 of the apache server. I am able to successfully connect to the server and open a read and write stream via the iPhone, but I am not sure how to send data to the iphone using PHP running from the LAMP server to the iPhone. I think I can use fsockopen in php to open a socket connection and write data to that socket. • Apache2 worker mpm too many processes

  I've got Apache installed with the worker mpm which seems to have too many processes active in spite of the configurations in place. I'll detail the configs below : StartServers 2 MinSpareThreads 10 MaxSpareThreads 25 ThreadsPerChild 25 MaxClients 150 Based on these settings, we should be seeing a maximum of 1 Apache control process (uid:root) and 6 Apache client processes (uid:www). This being due to MaxClients/ThreadsPerChild. However, I'm seeing a total of 1 Apache control process and 9 Apache client processes. init -- apache2(root) -- -- apache2(www) -- -- apache2(www) -- 1 thread -- -- apache2(www) -- 26 threads -- -- apache2(www) -- 26 threads init -- apache2(www) -- 2 threads -- apache2(www) -- apache2(www) -- apache2(www) We do not make it a habit of restarting Apache nor the Server, and will perform a reload 2-3 times a day at times so as to add new VHOSTs.   We have a new Dell R710 server that came with the following storage configuration: 8 x 146GB SAS 10k 6Gbps disks 1 x Perc H700 Integrated Controller (2 x 4 disks - 2 ports each supporting 4 disks) What would be the optimal configuration if we were just after performance? What would be the optimal configuration if we were after performance but wanted data resilience. As per 2 above but with a hot standby disk? We plan to run Windows 2008 R2 and SQL Server 2008 R2. Maximising storage capacity isn't a prime concern.

• Can one config LDAP to accept auth from ssh-agent instead of from Kerberos?

  [This question is not about getting your LDAP password to authenticate you for SSH logins. We have that working just fine, thank you :-) ] Let's suppose you're on a Linux network (Ubuntu 11.10, slapd 2.4.23), and you need to write a set of utilities that will use ldapmodify, ldapadd, ldapdelete, and so on. You don't have Kerberos, and don't want to deal with its timeouts (most users don't know how to get around this), quirks, etc. This resolves the question to one of where else to get credentials to feed to LDAP, probably through GSSAPI - which technically doesn't require Kerberos despite its dominance there - or something like it. However, nearly everyone seems to have an SSH agent program, complete with its key cache. I'd really like an ssh-add to be sufficient to allow passwordless LDAP command use. Does anyone know of a project working on using the SSH agent as the source of authentication to LDAP? It might be through an ssh-aware GSSAPI layer, or some other trick I haven't thought of. But it would be wonderful for making LDAP effortless. Assuming I haven't just utterly missed a way to use ldapmodify and kin without having to type my LDAP passwords - using -x is NOT acceptable. At my site, the LDAP server only accepts ldaps connections, and requires authentication for modifying operations. Those are requirements, of course. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. :-)

• How can ICS in Windows 7 be managed via command line, scripts, config files, etc.?

  I've been using ICS successfully for years, but now I'm looking for a way to control it through something else than the GUI in Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections - Connection Properties: I want to do everything that the encircled checkbox does, without touching the GUI. But what does the checkbox do? Microsoft don't provide specific information and the most helpful forum post I've found is from 2003. Assuming that some of the advice is still valid, I've come to the conclusion that ICS is broken down into 6 parts that have to be set up individually: the sharedAccess service interface settings firewall rules a static route dnsproxy autodhcp I've already learned that the service can be started/stopped with the command net start/stop sharedAccess and that netsh is a good tool for changing the interface settings and the firewall rules. But I don't understand how ICS handles routing and DNS. All hosts in my network are configured statically, so I don't care much about autodhcp. Thanks for your help! EDIT: I've spent the whole day scanning through ProcMon and I've seen reads/writes to both the registry and the filesystem and it is difficult to determine what parts of it actually make ICS work. I'm trying to look for an API instead. I'm looking into this right now, but I still want to know more about the inner workings.

  hi, just got a macbook pro 15" so i'm unfamiliar with how the filesystem is laid out. i noticed when in my filesystem that i've got a few paths specifying httpd.conf /etc/apache2/httpd.conf /opt/local/apache2/conf/httpd.conf /private/etc/apache2/httpd.conf the confs are different in lots of ways-- e.g. user, group, server_root, modules that are loaded, etc. the apache2 folders themselves also greatly differ. it seems that the one getting used is either /etc/apache2/httpd.conf or /private/etc/apache2/httpd.conf i'm wondering if i might have messed up my system after installing some packages (php5, django, etc) via macports and maybe ended up with 2 apache2 instances. my questions are hence: - which httpd.conf is the one being used ? - what are the other files for? thanks

  I'm using Cisco ACE Module with Cisco Catalyst 6504. There are 2 real servers connected to Switch, and runs three different services. (TCP 82, 83 and 84) I have to use three different URLs per service. (for example, a.com for TCP 82, b.com for TCP 83 and c.com for TCP 84) Therefore, I need three IPs. The problem is, is it possible that configure 3 different VIPs with same real servers with Cisco ACE Module? I mean, if VIPs are 1.1.1.1, 2.2.2.2, 3.3.3.3 and real servers are 4.4.4.4, 5.5.5.5, can I configure as following : VIP 1.1.1.1:82 Real Server 4.4.4.4:82, 5.5.5.5:82 VIP 2.2.2.2:83 Real Server 4.4.4.4:83, 5.5.5.5:83 VIP 3.3.3.3:84 Real Server 4.4.4.4:84, 5.5.5.5:84 I think, logically, it's possible. • Problem with running php script using mysql on tomcat

  I am using tomcat 6 with JavaBridge. I have stored my php script in the following location. C:\Program Files\apache-tomcat-6.0.26\webapps\JavaBridge\project\test.php In test.php I am using curl and mysql. The php.ini in JavaBridge is stored in the following location C:\Program Files\apache-tomcat-6.0.26\webapps\JavaBridge\WEB-INF\cgi\php.ini and its contents are - extension_dir="C:\Program Files\apache-tomcat-6.0.26\webapps\JavaBridge\WEB-INF\cgi\x86-windows\ext" include_path="C:\Program Files\apache-tomcat-6.0.26\webapps\JavaBridge\WEB-INF\pear;." there is also a config file called mysql.ini whose contents are - extension = php_mysql.dll I had also installed wamp earlier so I copied all the dll's from C:\wamp\bin\php\php5.3.0\ext to C:\Program Files\apache-tomcat-6.0.26\webapps\JavaBridge\WEB-INF\cgi\x86-windows\ext When I start tomcat and run my script I get the following error - Fatal error: Call to undefined function mysqli_connect() in C:\Program Files\apache-tomcat-6.0.26\webapps\JavaBridge\project\test.php on line 534 Please help.

• NFS Client reports Permission Denied, Server reports Permission Granted

  I have two RedHat 4 Servers. The client is 4.6, the server is 4.5. I'm attempting to mount a share from the server, onto the client via NFS. The /etc/exports configuration is as follows: /opt/data/config bkup(rw,no_root_squash,async) /opt/data/db bkup(rw,no_root_squash,async) exportfs returns these (among other) shares, nfs is running according to ps output. I've been attempting to use autofs on the client, but have opted to just mount the share manually considering the issues I'm having. So, I issue the mount request: mount dist:/opt/data/config /mnt/config mount: dist:/opt/data/config failed, reason given by server: Permission denied Ok, so let's see what the server has to say for itself. May 6 23:17:55 dist mountd[3782]: authenticated mount request from bkup:662 for /opt/data/config (/opt/data/config) It says it allowed the mount to take place. How can I diagnose why the client and server are disagreeing on the result?
