  • How to investigate if opencl is possible for an algorithm

    - by Marnix
I have a heavy-duty algorithm in C# that takes two large Bitmaps of about 10000x5000 and performs photo and ray collision operations on a 3D model to map photos on the 3D model. I would like to know if it is possible to convert such an algorithm to OpenCL to optimize parallel operations during the algorithm. But before asking you to go into the details of the algorithm, I would like to know how I can investigate if my algorithm is convertible to OpenCL. I am not experienced in OpenCL and I would like to know if it is worth it to get into it and learn how it works. Are there things I have to look for that will definitely not work on the graphics card? (for-loops, recursion) Update: My algorithm goes something like: foreach photo split the photo in 64x64 blocks foreach block cast a ray from the camera to the 3D model foreach triangle in 3D model perform raycheck

  • Automating scraping of table data to XML

    - by thewinchester
Problem I have a YQL query result that I'm trying to get converted and sort into a clean XML file. Background Being the pains that they are, information from the World Cup isn't freely available in an easy to reuse format. So, after a bit of finessing with YQL I have managed to liberate the required table rows which contain the data I'm after. The YQL query can be viewed at: http://query.yahooapis.com/v1/public/yql/ravingbeefsteak/worldcup2010groupliberator?diagnostics=true I'd like to now convert this information into XML, and being an absolute n00b I don't know where to start or what to look for. I'm also needing to do a find and replace on the data to get the URL's working as they should without manual changes, and hopefully an initial sorting of the data. If anyone can point me in the right direction of what I need to be doing to make my needs a reality it would be greatly appreciated.

  • Generate Entity Data Model from Data Contract

    - by CSmooth.net
I would like to find a fast way to convert a Data Contract to a Entity Data Model. Consider the following Data Contract: [DataContract] class PigeonHouse { [DataMember] public string housename; [DataMember] public List<Pigeon> pigeons; } [DataContract] class Pigeon { [DataMember] public string name; [DataMember] public int numberOfWings; [DataMember] public int age; } Is there an easy way to create an ADO.NET Entity Data Model from this code?

  • Java image conversion to RGB565

    - by Vladimir
    I try to convert image to RGB565 format. I read this image: BufferedImage bufImg = ImageIO.read(imagePathFile); sendImg = new BufferedImage(CONTROLLER_LCD_WIDTH/*320*/, CONTROLLER_LCD_HEIGHT/*240*/, BufferedImage.TYPE_USHORT_565_RGB); sendImg .getGraphics().drawImage(bufImg, 0, 0, CONTROLLER_LCD_WIDTH/*320*/, CONTROLLER_LCD_HEIGHT/*240*/, null); Here is it: Then I convert it to RGB565: int numByte=0; byte[] OutputImageArray = new byte[CONTROLLER_LCD_WIDTH*CONTROLLER_LCD_HEIGHT*2]; int i=0; int j=0; int len = OutputImageArray.length; for (i=0;i<CONTROLLER_LCD_WIDTH;i++) { for (j=0;j<CONTROLLER_LCD_HEIGHT;j++) { Color c = new Color(sendImg.getRGB(i, j)); int aRGBpix = sendImg.getRGB(i, j); int alpha; int red = c.getRed(); int green = c.getGreen(); int blue = c.getBlue(); //RGB888 red = (aRGBpix >> 16) & 0x0FF; green = (aRGBpix >> 8) & 0x0FF; blue = (aRGBpix >> 0) & 0x0FF; alpha = (aRGBpix >> 24) & 0x0FF; //RGB565 red = red >> 3; green = green >> 2; blue = blue >> 3; //A pixel is represented by a 4-byte (32 bit) integer, like so: //00000000 00000000 00000000 11111111 //^ Alpha ^Red ^Green ^Blue //Converting to RGB565 short pixel_to_send = 0; int pixel_to_send_int = 0; pixel_to_send_int = (red << 11) | (green << 5) | (blue); pixel_to_send = (short) pixel_to_send_int; //dividing into bytes byte byteH=(byte)((pixel_to_send >> 8) & 0x0FF); byte byteL=(byte)(pixel_to_send & 0x0FF); //Writing it to array - High-byte is second OutputImageArray[numByte]=byteH; OutputImageArray[numByte+1]=byteL; numByte+=2; } } Then I try to restore this from resulting array OutputImageArray: i=0; j=0; numByte=0; BufferedImage NewImg = new BufferedImage(CONTROLLER_LCD_WIDTH, CONTROLLER_LCD_HEIGHT, BufferedImage.TYPE_USHORT_565_RGB); for (i=0;i<CONTROLLER_LCD_WIDTH;i++) { for (j=0;j<CONTROLLER_LCD_HEIGHT;j++) { int curPixel=0; int alpha=0x0FF; int red; int green; int blue; byte byteL=0; byte byteH=0; byteH = OutputImageArray[numByte]; byteL = OutputImageArray[numByte+1]; curPixel= (byteH << 8) | (byteL); //RGB565 red = (curPixel >> (6+5)) & 0x01F; green = (curPixel >> 5) & 0x03F; blue = (curPixel) & 0x01F; //RGB888 red = red << 3; green = green << 2; blue = blue << 3; //aRGB curPixel = 0; curPixel = (alpha << 24) | (red << 16) | (green << 8) | (blue); NewImg.setRGB(i, j, curPixel); numByte+=2; } } I output this restored image. But I see that it looks very poor. I expected the lost of pictures quality. But as I thought, this picture has to have almost the same quality as the previous picture. - Is it right? Is my code right?

  • Accessing Active Directory Role Membership through LDAP using SQL Server 2005

    - by David Neale
I would like to get a list of Active Directory users along with the security groups they are members of using SQL Server 2005 linked servers. I have the query working to retrieve records but I'm not sure how to access the memberOf attribute (it is a multi-value LDAP attribute). I have this temporary to store the information: DROP TABLE #ADUSERGROUPS CREATE TABLE #ADUSERGROUPS ( sAMAccountName varchar(30), UserGroup varchar(50) ) Each group/user association should be one row. This is my SELECT statement: SELECT sAMAccountName, memberOf FROM OpenQuery(ADSI, '<LDAP://hqdc04/DC=nt,DC=avs>; (&(objectClass=User)(sAMAccountName=9695)(sn=*)(mail=*)(userAccountControl=512)); sAMAccountName, memberOf;subtree') I get this error msg: OLE DB error trace [OLE/DB Provider 'ADSDSOObject' IRowset::GetData returned 0x40eda: Data status returned from the provider: [COLUMN_NAME=memberOf STATUS=DBSTATUS_E_CANTCONVERTVALUE], [COLUMN_NAME=sAMAccountName STATUS=DBSTATUS_S_OK]]. • Unique issue with Rails setup

    - by Alexis Abril
Becoming a bit of a Ruby convert, but I've run into an issue with my Rails installation. I realize, in spirit, this question may overlap with superuser.com, but am asking here due to the nature of the installation. My command: sudo gem install rails Response is: /opt/local/lib/ruby/vendor_ruby/1.8/rubygems/spec_fetcher.rb:232: warning:getc is obsolete; use STDIN.getc instead The "/opt/local" may be giving away the fact I'm using MacPorts(Mac OS 10.4). After that response, there is no new command line issued by the system, just a hang. Any insite is greatly appreciated.

  • C# Progressbar is not updated accurately in Vista or Windows7

    - by Samir
    private void timer1_Tick(object sender, EventArgs e) { if (this.progressBar1.Value >= 100) { this.timer1.Stop(); this.timer1.Enabled = false; } else { this.progressBar1.Value += 10; this.label1.Text = Convert.ToString(this.progressBar1.Value); } } Here I used a timer to update the progress bar value. It works fine in XP. But in Windows7 or Vista when the progress value is set to say 100 but the graphical progress is not 100! Searching some threads found that its for animation lag in Vista/Windows7. How to get rid of this thing? I don't want to loose the look and feel of Vista/Window7 using: SetWindowTheme(progressBar1.Handle, " ", " ");

  • Load a Settings.settings into ListView?

    - by clefranc
Hi, I've managed to save ListView items to a System.Collections.Specialized.StringCollection property settings using this LINQ one liner: My.Settings.Property1.AddRange(ListView1.Items.Cast(Of ListViewItem)().[Select](Function(a) String.Join(Convert.ToChar(Keys.Tab), a.SubItems.Cast(Of System.Windows.Forms.ListViewItem.ListViewSubItem)().[Select](Function(s) s.Text).ToArray())).ToArray()) Now, I want to do the opposite, ie load the ListView1 from the My.Settings.Property1. It's fairly easy to do using a For Each loop, but I wonder if someone can show me a similar LINQ query. The lines in My.Settings.Property1 looks like this (Tab separated): Word1 Word2 Word3 Word4 Word5 Word6 Original code is from this answer: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2295068/show-listview-items-in-a-combobox

  • Converting from One Class to another Class using Xml Serialization in C#

    - by nrk
Hi, In our project we are consuming WCF webservices exposed at Central location as services with basicHttpBinding. In client desktop application we need consume those webservices. I am able to generate proxy class using WSDL.exe. But, I need to convert data/class given by the webservice into my local class, for that now I am xmlserialzing those class/objects given by webservice and deserializing into my local classes as both classes schema matches exactly same. Is there any better way that I can follow? or Do I need to assign each property from one class to another? thanks nRk.

  • How to read FoxPro Memo with PHP?

    - by sHiRoKKo
I have to convert .DBF and .FPT files from Visual FoxPro to MySQL. Right now my script works for .DBF files, it opens and reads them with dbase_open() and dbase_get_record_with_names() and then executes the MySQL INSERT commands. However, some fields of these .DBF files are of type MEMO and therefore stored in a separate files ending in .FPT. How do I read this file? I have found the specifications of this filetype in MSDN, but I don't know how I can read this file byte-wise with PHP (also, I would really prefer a simplier solution). Any ideas?

  • Reverse Engineer a .pyo python file

    - by Brian
I have 2 .pyo python files that I can convert to .py source files, but they don't compile perfectly as hinted by decompyle's verify. Therefore looking at the source code, I can tell that config.pyo simply had variables in in an array: ADMIN_USERIDS = [116901, 141, 349244, 39, 1159488] I would like to take the original .pyo and disassembly or whatever I need to do inorder to change one of these IDs. Or.... in model.pyo the source indicates a if (productsDeveloperId != self.getUserId()): All I would want to do is hex edit the != to be a == .....Simple with a windows exe program but I can't find a good python disassembler anywhere. Any suggestions are welcomed...I am new to reading bytecode and new to python as well.

The logs are logged in a logfile process ID appended to each line. Prog to find out if the test case has passed or failed. The program shoud be running till the processes are running and display output.

  • WCF Paged Results & Data Export

    - by Ben
I've walked into a project that is using a WCF service for the data tier. Currently, when data is needed for a grid, all rows are returned and the results are bound to a grid and the dataset is stuffed into a session variable for paging/sorting/rebinding. We've already hit a max message size problem, so I'm thinking it's time to convert from fetch and cache to fetch only the current page. Face value this seems easy enough, but there's a small catch. The user is allowed to export the entire result set at any point. This means that for grid viewing purposes fetching the current page is fine, but when they want to do an export, I still need to make a call for all data. This puts me back into the max message size issue. What is the recommended approach for this type of setup? We are currently using the wsHttpBinding... Thanks for any assistance.

  • uppercase to lowercase in bash on a mac

    - by Mala
Hi I'm writing a bash script which needs to convert a string to lowercase. The problem is I'm doing it on a mac so 'tr' is not available. How can I go about doing this on a mac? The problem I'm trying to tackle is that my script needs to recognize an if an extension is a .gif or a .jpg - and I don't want to have to check for .jpeg, .jPeg, .JPEG, .JPeg, etc etc etc... if there's a smarter way of doing this than just converting to lowercase and testing for gif, jpg and jpeg, i'm all ears :)

  • Eye Detection Problem In Opencv

    - by iva123
Hi, I'm trying to convert this c code(http://nashruddin.com/OpenCV_Eye_Detection) to the python code, but in c style, he used cvROI thing, since ROI functions are not supported by python-opencv, I tried cvGetSubRect so Here is the eye detection part of the code : eye_region = cvGetSubRect(image,cvRect(face.x,int(face.y + (face.height/4)),face.width,int(face.height/2))) eyes = cvHaarDetectObjects(eye_region,eyeCascade,memo,1.15,3,0,cvSize(25,15)) for e in eyes: cvRectangle(image, cvPoint( int(e.x), int(e.y)), cvPoint(int(e.x + e.width), int(e.y + e.height)), CV_RGB(0, 255, 0), 1, 8, 0) return image; When I run this code, It draws rectangles irrelevant places. I thought, eye_region coordinates are wrong, and tried some coordinates, but it didn't work. Any idea ? Note :Face detection method works very well, and it's code is same with the eye detection method.

  • Playing flash (.flv) videos on the web in a way that portable devices can view them

    - by Evan
A friend of mine has created a movie for my site, it's in .flv format. I've heard of the popular flash player called flowplayer, but I have a bad feeling such a player will not work on the ipad and other devices which do not support flash. Is there a way to play a video in the flash format through a non-flash player so that the content can be viewed on all devices? I'm open to any ideas. Perhaps I may even need to convert the video to another format somehow. Thanks for any help, Evan

  • WPF DataGrid: How to get Converter

    - by Nike
I create DataGrid Columns with Binding (where i is a Int value): dataGrid.Columns.Add(new DataGridTextColumn { Header = i.ToString(), Binding = CreateBinding(i), }); private Binding CreateBinding(int num) { Binding bind = new Binding(string.Format("[{0}]", num)); bind.Converter = new CellValueConverter(); return bind; } In the CreateBinding method I have an access to bind.Converter property. I need to call Converter.Convert() method in some handler, but there is no Converter property when I try to access it: (dataGrid.Columns[clm] as DataGridTextColumn).Binding."no Converter property!" How can I get my CellValueConverter which was created for particular Column?

  • How to keep my functions (objects/methods) 'lean and mean'

    - by Michel
Hi, in all (Agile) articles i read about this: keep your code and functions small and easy to test. How should i do this with the 'controller' or 'coordinator' class? In my situation, i have to import data. In the end i have one object who coordinates this, and i was wondering if there is a way of keeping the coordinator lean(er) and mean(er). My coordinator now does the followling (pseudocode) //Write to the log that the import has started Log.StartImport() //Get the data in Excel sheet format result = new Downloader().GetExcelFile() //Log this step Log.LogStep(result ) //convert the data to intern objects result = new Converter().Convertdata(result); //Log this step Log.LogStep(result ) //write the data result = Repository.SaveData(result); //Log this step Log.LogStep(result ) Imho, this is one of those 'know all' classes or at least one being 'not lean and mean'? Or, am i taking this lean and mean thing to far and is it impossible to program an import without some kind of 'fat' importer/coordinator? Michel

  • How to read and modify the colorspace of an image in c#

    - by Matthias
I'm loading a Bitmap from a jpg file. If the image is not 24bit RGB, I'd like to convert it. The conversion should be fairly fast. The images I'm loading are up to huge (9000*9000 pixel with a compressed size of 40-50MB). How can this be done? Btw: I don't want to use any external libraries if possible. But if you know of an open source utility class performing the most common imaging tasks, I'd be happy to hear about it. Thanks in advance.
