640 enterprise library caching threads - how?

We have an application that is undergoing performance testing. Today, I decided to take a dump of w3wp & load it in windbg to see what is going on underneath the covers. Is this 'expected behavior', or perhaps have we implemented something improperly? The test ran hours ago, so i would have expected any timeouts to have occurred already.

Can't connect twice to linked table using ACE/JET driver

I'm trying to connect to an MS Access database linked table in VBScript. It works fine connecting the first time on one connection but if I close that connection and open a new one in the same script it gives me an error. test.vbs(13, 1) Microsoft Office Access Database Engine: ODBC--connection to '{Oracle in OraClient10g_home1}DB_NAME' failed. This is some code that triggers the error. TABLE_1 is an ODBC linked table in the test.mdb file. How do i enable transactions

I have a similar question of how to check if you are in a transaction. Instead of checking how do i allow nested transactions? I am using Microsoft SQL File Database with ADO.NET. I seen examples using tsql and examples starting transactions using begin and using transaction names. When calling connection.BeginTransaction i call another function pass in the same connection and it calls BeginTransaction again which gives me the exception SqlConnection does not support parallel transactions. It appears many microsoft variants allow this but i cant figure out how to do it with my .mdf file. How do i allow nested transactions with a Microsoft SQL File Database using C# and ADO.NET?

I installed SQL Server 2008 Enterprise Edition on Windows 7 Ultimate from sadegh user. This account exists in administrators role. after a few days I removed sadegh user from Windows and now I am using administrator user. TFS 2008 Build Script

In TFS 2008, I am trying to modify a build script (TFSBuild.proj). I get the following warning: The element 'PropertyGroup' in namespace 'http://schemas.microsoft.com/developer/msbuild/2003' has invalid child element 'TeamProject' in namespace 'http://schemas.microsoft.com/developer/msbuild/2003'. Which is correct, The element PropertyGroup does indeed have a child called TeamProject. I’m making an assumption that this is caused because of the following line: <Project DefaultTargets="DesktopBuild" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/developer/msbuild/2003" ToolsVersion="3.5"> The Xml Namespace doesn’t appear to exist as far as I can tell, although it looks like a standard one. Please can anyone tell me if this is a standard XML namespace, how or where I can view its contents and whether the warning that I am seeing may be caused by it?

Adding custom context menu items to an Outlook MailItem using Outlook 2007 VSTO 3.0

Hi I've been trying to figure out how to create a context menu in VSTO 2007. I'm hoping that is possible. When I make this call. Dim commandBar As Microsoft.Office.Core.CommandBar = _word.CommandBars("Text") I get the following error. This object model command is not available in e-mail. I've look all over and from what I can tell it's not possible to add to the context menu in Office 2007. This doesn't seem right. I've also tried this event without any luck since it isn't being fired when right clicking on the MailItem ItemContextMenuDisplay(ByVal commandBar As Microsoft.Office.Core.CommandBar, ByVal selection As Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook.Selection) Hoping that someone can help. my windows forms application throws filenotfoundexception when run on another machine

Hi, I have created a windows forms application using vs2008. when i copy the bin folder over to another machine and try to run it the applicaiton throws a filenotfoundexception error. Ive looked at the references files used in the project and each file points to either c:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727... c:\Program Files\Reference Assemblies\Microsoft\Framework\v3.5... c:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Visual Basic Power Packs\1.1... i have verified that these directories exist on the other machines that cause the error. the two machines that i have tried it on and that throw there error are Windows XP WITHOUT VS2008 installed and Windows 7 with VS2008 installed I tried on two machine that DID work which are Windows XP with VS2008 and and my development machine Windows 7 with VS2008 Could anyone provide me with some insight on this issue Thanks

Windows secure pinned website tile

I'm currently working on a pinned website tile for my website and instead of using a static XML file i'm linking the tile to a web api that returns user specific XML. My question is: Is it possible to secure this tile so that a user needs to be logged in before the data loads? I'm stumped! We have a user control for managing account information. We use this particular control on two pages. On one page, everything works perfectly and meets our expectation. On the second page however we receive compilation errors stating that: "C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Temporary ASP.NET Files\lrpcentral\0e987bea\6719c8b6\App_Web_PageThatFails.aspx.f3d462c1.oi52bvii.0.cs(172): error CS0433: The type 'xxxx_ascx' exists in both 'c:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Temporary ASP.NET Files\APPLICATIONNAME\0e987bea\6719c8b6\App_Web_xxxx.ascx.cdcab7d2.xbnvt2za.dll' and 'c:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Temporary ASP.NET Files\APPLICATIONNAME\0e987bea\6719c8b6\App_Web_eix7xllr.dll' My problem is similar to Cyril's but the "delete everything from Temp" is not an option for me, and Cyril's solution does not apply since the only variable we have is contained in the designer file, which is not deployed to our production environment (we pre-compile). A code using SharePoint classes doesn't run on systems not having SharePoint installed

I have a window application which uses SP classes to create a site. I works fine on a system having Windows Server 2003 R2 with sharepoint installed. But it doesn't work on a system having XP installed and SharePoint not installed. The fact is that both of these systems are on a intranet. So I assumed that the NON-SP system would be able to run the code and create a site on the system having SP installed if all the required parameters (like serverLocation, domain, username, password) are provided. I did copied the DLLs to these NON-SP system and referenced them to build the project: Microsoft.SharePoint.dll microsoft.sharepoint.portal.dll Microsoft.SharePoint.Publishing.dll But this too didn't worked. What am I missing? Is my assumption wrong?

Microsoft one of the worst Web Developers sites in the world. Which means, that the replace() method goes line by line and if there's no match in that line, it returns just the whole line... Even if it has the "m" (multiline) modifier...

In what language was MSDOS originally written in? The Wikipedia Article implies either C, QBasic or Pascal, but: * C was invented to write UNIX, so I don't believe it was used to write MSDOS * Pascal seems popular to teach programming, but not really popular to write Operating systems in * QBasic didn't seem to be very popular for Operating Systems at the time MSDOS was developed (or was *BASIC ever very popular to write Operating Systems in it?) Except these three languages there is also Assembly, but I assume that Microsoft already switched from Assembly to a "higher" level language? Since C was originally invented for UNIX, I still wouldn't think Microsoft is using C... although the Microsoft API is written in C (I find this kind-of oxymoronic, actually). Can anyone enlighten me on this topic?

Cannot run unit tests for an application developed with Compact Framework for Windows CE 6.0 platfor

I'm developing a solution for Windows CE 6.0 using GuD_AtomKit X86 Device emulator. I'm not able to run any unit tests, because I get following error message: The test adapter ('Microsoft.VisualStudio.TestTools.TestTypes.Unit.UnitTestAdapter, Microsoft.VisualStudio.QualityTools.Tips.UnitTest.Adapter, Version=9.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a') required to execute this test could not be loaded. Check that the test adapter is installed properly. Exception of type 'Microsoft.VisualStudio.SmartDevice.TestHostAdapter.DeviceAgent.TestAlreadyRunningException' was thrown. But there's no unit test running on the device. I would really appreciate your help.

"This application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect." How can I solve this?

In what language was MSDOS originally written in? The Wikipedia Article implies either C, QBasic or Pascal, but: C was invented to write UNIX, so I don't believe it was used to write MSDOS Pascal seems popular to teach programming, but not really popular to write Operating systems in QBasic didn't seem to be very popular for Operating Systems at the time MSDOS was developed (or was *BASIC ever very popular to write Operating Systems in it?) Except these three languages there is also Assembly, but I assume that Microsoft already switched from Assembly to a "higher" level language? Since C was originally invented for UNIX, I still wouldn't think Microsoft is using C... although the Microsoft API is written in C (I find this kind-of oxymoronic, actually). Can anyone enlighten me on this topic?

Hello! I'm trying to serialize "vector" (Microsoft.FSharp.Math) type. And I get that error: Exception Details: System.Runtime.Serialization.SerializationException: Type 'Microsoft.FSharp.Math.Instances+FloatNumerics@115' with data contract name 'Instances.FloatNumerics_x0040_115:http://schemas.datacontract.org/2004/07/Microsoft.FSharp.Math' is not expected. Add any types not known statically to the list of known types - for example, by using the KnownTypeAttribute attribute or by adding them to the list of known types passed to DataContractSerializer. I have tried to put KnownType attribute and some other stuff, but nothing helps! Could someone know the answer? I am trying to copy all data from worksheet1 and paste the values into worksheet2 at the same position I am using office 2003 and the Interlop library.
