  • WCF: Use a Message Contract to make a Soap Header

    I need to add a soap header to my web service. I plan to use this to validate my clients (Windows Mobile Devices). I found this link: http://www.c-sharpcorner.com/UploadFile/rog_21/soapheaders05172007120046PM/soapheaders.aspx Which is exactly what I want to do. But it is not written for WCF. I have done some research and I seem to be paralyzed by the number of options. I basically want to add a simple header to my soap object that will be a user name and password. The client does not use WCF, so the soap header needs to just be a normal soap header. Any Sample code or shoves in the right direction would be appreciated.

    So I have a web service system for mananging development projects, what I would like to do is create a visual studio plugin that accesses the web service and returns a list of tasks for the current users (via some sort of login). Looking round the internet I can't find any good examples or tutorials on how to create a visual studio plugin that can be docked to the bottom of the screen (same place as error list, test results, etc) Does anyone know of a good website I can look at for examples or tutorials of the basics of creating a visual studio plugin, specifically for VS2008?

    Task ATTENDENCE RECORDER AND MANAGEMENT SYSTEM IN DISTRIBUTED ENVIRONMENT ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Example implementation needed. a main server in each lab where the operator punches in the attendence of the student. =========================================================== scenerio:- a college, 10 departments, all departments have a computer lab with 60-100 computers, the computers within each lab are interconnected and all computers in any department have to dail to a particular number (THE NUMBER GIVEN BY THE COLLEGE INTERNET DEPARTMENT) to get connected to the internet. therefore safe to assume that there is a central location to which all the computers in the college are connected to. there is a 'students attendence portal' which can be accessed using internet explorer, students enter there id and get the particular attendence record regarding to the labs only. a description of the working is like:- 1) the user will select which department, which year has arrived to the lab 2) the selection will give the user a return of all the students name and there roll numbers belonging to that department; 'with a check box to "TICK MARK IF THE STUDENT IS PRESENT" ' 3) A SUBMIT BUTTON when pressed reads the 'id' of the checkbox to determine the "particular count number of the student" from that an id of the student is constructed and that id is inserted with a present. (there is also date and time and much more to normalize the db and to avoid conflicts and keep historic records etc but that you will have to assume) steps taken till this date:- ( please note we are not computer students, we are to select something of some other line as a project!, as you will read in my many post 'i" have designed small websites just out of liking. have never ever done any thing official to implement like this.) * have made the database fully normalized. * have made the website which does the functions required on the database.   • How can I set MAXLENGTH on input fields automatically?

    I'm using ASP.NET MVC RC2. I have a set of classes that were auto-generated "Linq-to-SQL Classes", where each class models a table in my database. I have some default "edit" views that use the neat-o Html.TextBoxFor helper extension to render HTML input fields for the columns in a table. However, I notice that there is no MAXLENGTH attribute specified in the generated HTML. A quick google shows that you can add explicit attributes using TextBoxFor etc. but that would mean that I need to hard-code the values (and I need to remember to do it for every input). This seems pretty poor, considering that everything was automatically generated directly from the DB, so the size of the columns is known. (Although, to be fair, the web-side stuff has to work with any model objects, not just with Linq-to-SQL objects). Is there any nice way of getting this to do the right thing?

    I want to create a report which aggregates the number of activities per customer per week. If there has been no activites on that customer for a given week, 0 should be displayed (i.e week 3 and 4 in the sample below) CUSTOMER | #ACTIVITIES | WEEKNUMBER A | 4 | 1 A | 2 | 2 A | 0 | 3 A | 0 | 4 A | 1 | 5 B ... C ... The problem is that if there are no activities there is no data to report on and therefor week 3 and 4 in the sample below is not in the report. What is the "best" way to solve this?

  • Silverlight project builds in VS2008 but fails when using MSBuild

    Hi, We have 2 Silverlight projects in the same solution; SLGlobalResource and SLData. SLData references SLGlobalResource (using references add reference projects). When we build it in debug within VS2008, everything builds fine and all is good. But when we build it using: msbuild TheSolution.sln /p:Configuration=Debug /t:rebuild SLData fails with the following error: ViewModels\ImportViewModel.cs : error CS0246: The type of name space "SLGlobalResource" could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?) This also happens in TeamCity (I guess because the TeamCity vs2008 runner uses MSBuild) Any ideas? Thanks Edit: There are actually 33 projects in total in the solution. I didn't think this was relevant before but now I'm thinking it could be - could this be a build order thing?

The database sorting cannot be changed if a schema bound object depends on it. Remove the dependency of the database sortieren and retry. I got a ton more of the errors like that.

    Does SQL server expect numbers to be specified with digits from the latin alphabet, e.g.: 0123456789 Is it valid to give SQL Server digits in other alphabets? But the client is also converting numbers to strings using their current culture, e.g.: SELECT * FROM Inventory WHERE Quantity > ???,?? Which throws SQL Server for fits. i know that the server/database has it's defined code page and locale, but that is for strings. Will SQL Server interpret numbers using the active (or per-login specified) locale, or must all numeric values be specifid with latin numeral digits?

  • Dealing with unwanted port numbers on localhost when debugging in Visual Studio

    So when I'm trying to debug a project in Visual Studio, I'll often have 1 or more services that I need to call. These services are separate projects and I'll launch them in separate instances of VS. ASP dev server kindly launches them with temporary port numbers attached. This would be fine except for my programs are looking for an IP without a port attached. (Typically it's as simple as "localhost"!) I've coped by using web config settings and changing the xml to use the port number while debugging. This still doesn't always work and occasionally I'll still have to fudge it and insert port numbers as strings in code! UGH! Then I have to remember to undo all the port herding code before deployment... I want to stop doing this: string _strBaseURL = String.Format("http://{0}:2277", ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["myservice_ip"].ToString()); What is the best practice here? Am I doomed to port herding while debugging VS apps?

    I've been using FULL-TEXT for awhile but I cannot seem to get the most relevant results sometimes. If I have an field with something like "An Overview of Pain Medicine 5/12/2006" and a user types "An Overview 5/12/2006" So we create a search like: '"An" AND "Overview" AND "5/12/2006"' - 0 results (bad) '"Overview" AND "5/12/2006"' - 1 result (good) The CONTAINSTABLE portion of my query: FROM ce_Activity A INNER JOIN CONTAINSTABLE(View_Activities,(Searchable), @Search) AS KeyTbl ON A.ActivityID = KeyTbl.[KEY] "Searchable" is a field contains the activity title, and start date(converted to string) in one field so it's all search friendly. Why would this happen?
