I think i want to send 100 messages with a high priority and 100 with a lower priority. And i want to see if the messages with a lower priority will be delivered on time or they will be put aside.     I am serializing a generic dictionary in VB.net and I am very surprised that it is about 1.3kb with a single item. Am I doing something wrong, or is there something else I should be doing? I have a large number of dictionaries and it is killing me to send them all across the wire.   • are push notification tokens unique across all apps for a single device?

    i will have multiple applications on the app store and 1 urban airship account to send push notifications to all of these devices. what i want to know is if each apple device has the same "push token" across all applications? this is more of a database architecture thing so that I don't duplicate a push token many times if one single device uses many of my apps if each apple device generates a unique push token for each application it has installed my architecture needs to change.

  • Catchall Router on Exim does not work

    I have setup a catchall router on exim (used as last router): catchall: driver = redirect domains = +local_domains data = ${lookup{*@$domain}lsearch{/etc/aliases}} retry_use_local_part This works perfectly when sending emails locally. However, if I login to my GMail account and send an email to [email protected], then I get an "Unrouteable Address". Thank you for any hints to solve this issue.

    NSOperationQueue has waitUntilAllOperationsAreFinished, but I don't want to wait synchronously for it. I just want to hide progress indicator in UI when queue finishes. What's the best way to accomplish this? I can't send notifications from my NSOperations, because I don't know which one is going to be last, and [queue operations] might not be empty yet (or worse - repopulated) when notification is received.

  • How can I automatically synchronize a directory tree on multiple machines?

    I have two Mac laptops and a Debian server, each with a directory that I would like to keep in sync between the three. The solution should meet the following criteria (in rough order of importance): It must not use any third-party service (e.g. Dropbox, SugarSync, Google whatever). This does not include installing additional software (as long as it's free). It must not require me to use specific directories or change my way of storing things. (Dropbox does this IIRC) It must work in all directions (changes made on /any/ machine should be pushed to the others) All data sent must be encrypted (I have ssh keypairs set up already) It must work even when not all machines are available (changes should be pushed to a machine when it comes back online) It must work even when the /directories/ on some machines are not available (they may be stored on disk images which will not always be mounted) This can be solved for Macs by using launchd to automatically launch and kill (or in some way change the behavior of) whatever daemon is used for syncing when the images are mounted and unmounted. It must be immediate (using an event-based system, not a periodic one like cron) It must be flexible (if more machines are added, I should be able to incorporate them easily) I also have some preferences that I would like to be fulfilled, but do not have to be: It should notify me somehow if there are conflicts or other errors. It should recognize symbolic and hard links and create corresponding ones. It should allow me to create a list of exceptions (subdirectories which will not be synced at all). It should not require me to set up port forwarding or otherwise reconfigure a network. This can be solved by using an ssh tunnel with reverse port forwarding. If you have a solution that meets some, but not all of the criteria, please contribute it in the comments as it might be useful in some way, and it might be possible to meet some of the criteria separately. What I tried, and why it didn't work: rsync and lsyncd do not support bidirectional synchronization csync2 is designed for server clusters and does not appear to work with machines with dynamic IPs DRBD (suggested by amotzg) involves installing a kernel module and does not appear to work on systems running OS X

    Is there a way to pickle a class definition? What I'd like to do is pickle the definition (which may created dynamically), and then send it over a TCP connection so that an instance can be created on the other end. I understand that there may be dependencies, like modules and global variables that the class relies on. I'd like to bundle these in the pickling process as well, but I'm not concerned about automatically detecting the dependencies because it's okay if the onus is on the user to specify them.

    This is more of a theoretical question than an actual problem I have. If I understand correctly, the sequence number in the TCP header of a packet is the index of the first byte in the packet in the whole stream, correct? If that is the case, since the sequence number is an unsigned 32-bit integer, then what happens after more than FFFFFFFF = 4294967295 bytes are transferred? Will the sequence number wrap around, or will the sender send a SYN packet to restart at 0?

    Currently I'm using file_get_contents() to submit GET data to an array of sites, but upon execution of the page I get this error: Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded All I really want the script to do is start loading the webpage, and then leave. Each webpage may take up to 5 minutes to load fully, and I don't need it to load fully. I would like to access internet from my home computer (Windows 7 Pro x64), trough my server in Germany, so I can use a German IP, what I need some times. I have complete acces in to both computers, but I just don't know where to start. (My knwoledge is limited to software development :/ ) I'd like to know where to start, if I need to create a VPN and so.. Thanks in advance!
