• Difficulty porting raw PCM output code from Java to Android AudioTrack API.

  I'm attempting to port an application that plays chiptunes (NSF, SPC, etc) music files from Java SE to Android. The Android API seems to lack the javax multimedia classes that this application uses to output raw PCM audio. The closest analog I've found in the API is AudioTrack and so I've been wrestling with that. However, when I try to run one of my sample music files through my port-in-progress, all I get back is static. My suspicion is that it's the AudioTrack I've setup which is at fault. I've tried various different constructors but it all just outputs static in the end. The DataLine setup in the original code is something like: AudioFormat audioFormat = new AudioFormat( AudioFormat.Encoding.PCM_SIGNED, 44100, 16, 2, 4, 44100, true ); DataLine.Info lineInfo = new DataLine.Info( SourceDataLine.class, audioFormat ); DataLine line = (SourceDataLine)AudioSystem.getLine( lineInfo ); The constructor I'm using right now is: AudioTrack = new AudioTrack( AudioManager.STREAM_MUSIC, 44100, AudioFormat.CHANNEL_CONFIGURATION_STEREO, AudioFormat.ENCODING_PCM_16BIT, AudioTrack.getMinBufferSize( 44100, AudioFormat.CHANNEL_CONFIGURATION_STEREO, AudioFormat.ENCODING_PCM_16BIT ), AudioTrack.MODE_STREAM ); I've replaced constants and variables in those so they make sense as concisely as possible, but my basic question is if there are any obvious problems in the assumptions I made when going from one format to the other.

• colorbox not displaying first caption from flickr gallery integration

  I am pulling small thumbnails into my page from the flickr API, and using Colorbox to display larger thumbnails and captions from the title attribute. Using the API with C#. However, on the first instance of opening colorbox it does not display the caption from the anchors title attribute. If you click next or previous then it appears. The actual caption is physically there in the source code, just not getting put into the colorbox window. Demo here, if you click on a thumbnail you will see there is no caption, click next then prev and it will appear.   For this assignemnt, I think that I got it right, but when I submit it online, it doesn't list it as correct even though I checked with Eclipse. The prompt: Write a method isPalindrome that accepts an array of Strings as its argument and returns true if that array is a palindrome (if it reads the same forwards as backwards) and /false if not. For example, the array {"alpha", "beta", "gamma", "delta", "gamma", "beta", "alpha"} is a palindrome, so passing that array to your method would return true. Arrays with zero or one element are considered to be palindromes. • Problem creating a custom input element using FluentHtml (MVCContrib)

  Hi there, I just recently started dabbling in ASP.NET MVC 1.0 and came across the wonderful MVCContrib. I had originally gone down the path of creating some extended html helpers, but after finding FluentHTML decided to try my hand at creating a custom input element. Basically I am wanting to ultimately create several custom input elements to make it easier for some other devs on the project I'm working on to add their input fields to the page and have all of my preferred markup to render for them. So, in short, I'd like to wrap certain input elements with additional markup.. A TextBox would be wrapped in an <li /> for example. I've created my custom input elements following Tim Scott's answer in another question on here: DRY in the MVC View. • xcode project-/target-settings-syntax for linker flag force_load on iPhone

  Hi all. I am confronted with the double bind, that on the one hand for one of the 3rd party static libraries, my iPhone application uses, the linker flag -all_load has to be set in the application project- or target settings, otherwise the app crashes at runtime not finding some symbols, called internally from the lib, on the other hand for another 3rd party static lib -all_load must not be set on application level, or the app won't build thanks to a "duplicate symbols"-linker error. To solve this issue I now want to use force_load instant of load_all, as it due to documentation it does the same like all_load, but only for the passed path or lib-file, instead of all libs. The problem with force_load is, I do not have a clue, how to pass a path or file as parameter with it, when passing it via xcode project- or target-settings. All syntax-possibilities coming to my mind either lead into xcode thinking its another linker flag instead of a parameter to the previous one, or the linker is throwing syntax related errors or the flag simply does nothing at all in comparison to not being set. I also opened the .pbxproj-file in a text-editor to edit it to the correct command line syntax manually, but when reloading the project with xcode, it auto changes the syntax into interpreting the parameter to force_load as a separate flag. Anyone having an idea on this issue? Thx, Kaiserludi.

• Question about the evolution of interaction paradigm between web server program and content provider program?

  Hi experts, In my opinion, web server is responsible to deliver content to client. If it is static content like pictures and static html document, web server just deliver them as bitstream directly. If it is some dynamic content that is generated during processing client's request, the web server will not generate the conetnt itself but call some external proram to genearte the content. AFAIK, this kind of dynamice content generation technologies include the following: CGI ISAPI ... And from here, I noticed that: ...In IIS 7, modules replace ISAPI filters... Is there any others? Could anyone help me complete the above list and elabrate on or show some links to their evolution? I think it would be very helpful to understand application such as IIS, TomCat, and Apache. I once wrote a small CGI program, and though it serves as a content generator, it is still nothing but a normal standalone program. I call it normal because the CGI program has a main() entry point. But with the recenetly technology like ASP.NET, I am not writing complete program, but only some class library. Why does such radical change happens? Many thanks.

• Qt application crashing immediately without debugging info. How do I track down the problem?

  I run an Qt app I've built: ./App Segmentation fault I run it with strace: strace ./App execve("./App", ["./App"], [/* 27 vars */]) = 0 --- SIGSEGV (Segmentation fault) @ 0 (0) --- +++ killed by SIGSEGV +++ Process 868 detached Again, no useful info. I run it with gdb: (gdb) run Starting program: /root/test/App Reading symbols from shared object read from target memory...(no debugging symbols found)...done. Loaded system supplied DSO at 0xffffe000 Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault. 0x00000001 in ?? () Again, nothing. I run it with valgrind: ==948== Process terminating with default action of signal 11 (SIGSEGV) ==948== Bad permissions for mapped region at address 0x0 ==948== at 0x1: (within /root/test/App) Even if I put in debugging symbols, it doesn't give any more useful info. ldd shows all libraries being linked properly. Is there any other way I can find out what's wrong? I can't even do standard printf, cout, etc debugging. The executable doesn't even seem to start running at all. I rebuilt with symbols, and tried the suggestion below (gdb) break main Breakpoint 1 at 0x45470 (gdb) run Starting program: /root/test/App Breakpoint 1 at 0x80045470 Reading symbols from shared object read from target memory...done. Loaded system supplied DSO at 0xffffe000 Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault. 0x00000001 in ?? () I checked for static initializers and I don't seem to have any. Yep, I tried printf, cout, etc. It doesn't even make it into the main routine, so I'm looking for problems with static initializers in link libraries, adding them in one-by-one. I'm not getting any stack traces either.

  There is a function in the AES algorithm, to multiply a byte by 2 in Galois Field. Actually I am worried about the extra conversion of to int and then again to byte. So far I have tested and it looks fine. Does the extra cast to int and then to byte make a difference?

  I need to virtualize a SBS 2003 server in my work environment. I need some tips on what people think is the best way to proceed. Background: The SBS 2003 server is the primary DC for the domain and also hosts FTP, RRAS(VPN), DNS, and file shares. Exchange is NOT used, neither is SQL server. DHCP is done via a firewall appliance. I have added a Server 2003 VM to the domain and promoted it to the DC role. AD/DNS is replicating here correctly. This was mainly done to provide fault-tolerance to the domain, I was not intending to make this VM the primary DC. I've already asked about buying upgraded licensing for Server 2008/2012 but was refused due to cost. Options: I see (at least) two routes I could take to complete this. From what I've read option 2 is the "preferred" method, but there's a few steps where I'm not clear on what to expect. Option 1.) P2V the primary DC Power off primary DC Power off secondary DC (to prevent USN rollback in case P2V has issue) P2V (cold clone) primary DC Boot new PDC VM Allow new hardware to detect Remove old NIC hardware from device manager Assign old IPs to new virtual NICs Reboot PDC VM, confirm connectivity and no major issues Power on secondary DC, confirm replication Option 2.) Create new VM, transfer roles, remove original DC from domain Create new VM, install SBS 2003 Do I need the original SBS install discs for this? MS migration doc mentions this.   Hi all, I attempted to render a circle in opengl es 1.1 as a test before building a larger program, but it renders as an oval. When it renders, the shape on screen appears to be an oval, significantly taller than it is wide. My question is thus: why is my circle rendering this way, and what could I do to fix it? This is the first question on stackoverflow, so I'm not sure how to share an image of my output.

This method is being called as List<FactorClass> listFC = new List<FactorClass>(); listFC.Add(new FactorClass { Name = "BKP", FactorValue="Book to price",IsGlobal =false }); listFC.Add(new FactorClass { Name = "YLD", FactorValue = "Dividend yield", IsGlobal = false }); listFC.Add(new FactorClass { Name = "EPM", FactorValue = "emp", IsGlobal = false }); listFC.Add(new FactorClass { Name = "SE", FactorValue = "something else", IsGlobal = false }); List<FactorClass> listFC1 = listFC.Search("BKP").ToList(); It is working fine. But a closer look into the extension method will reveal that Type k = t.GetType(); PropertyInfo pi = k.GetProperty("Name"); is actually inside a foreach loop which is actually not needed. Is there a programmatic way to do a dependency injection of MyDao into MyService, but not have spring manage the MyService? Basically I want to be able to do this from my code: MyService.getInstance().doSomething(); while having spring inject the MyDao for me.

Are all thread-safe functions reentrant? Are all recursive and thread-safe functions reentrant? While writing this question, one thing comes to mind: Are the terms like reentrance and thread safety absolute at all i.e. do they have fixed concrete definations? However, it really surprises that "Enumerable.Range" is faster than the "self-made IEnumerable". I thought that Enumerable.Range will take more overhead than the simple GetIntRange method. What is the possible reason for this?

• Why is this linq extension method hit the database twice?

  Hi folks, I have an extension method called ToListIfNotNullOrEmpty(), which is hitting the DB twice, instead of once. The first time it returns one result, the second time it returns all the correct results. I'm pretty sure the first time it hits the database, is when the .Any() method is getting called. here's the code. public static IList<T> ToListIfNotNullOrEmpty<T>(this IEnumerable<T> value) { if (value.IsNullOrEmpty()) { return null; } if (value is IList<T>) { return (value as IList<T>); } return new List<T>(value); } public static bool IsNullOrEmpty<T>(this IEnumerable<T> value) { if (value != null) { return !value.Any(); } return true; } I'm hoping to refactor it so that, before the .Any() method is called, it actually enumerates through the entire list. If i do the following, only one DB call is made, because the list is already enumerated. var pewPew = (from x in whatever select x) .ToList() // This enumerates. .ToListIsNotNullOrEmpty(); // This checks the enumerated result. I sorta don't really want to call ToList() then my extension method. Any ideas, folks?

• Nginx order of servers

  I have 3 sites on my server. All are running on gunicorn and use unix sockets to communicate with nginx which routes requests. I got three records in nginx.conf like: server { listen 80; server_name site1.com; location / { proxy_pass http://unix:/tmp/site1.sock; proxy_redirect off; proxy_set_header Host $host; proxy_set_header X-Real-IP $remote_addr; proxy_set_header X-Forwarded-For $proxy_add_x_forwarded_for; } } For site1, site2, site3. If they are ordered as config for site1 goes first, and then goes config for site2 and site3 everything works good. But when I change the order for example to site2, site1, site3, then site1 becomes routed to site2. What am I doing wrong?   Hi there! I'm trying to do a little PDO CRUD to learn some PDO. I have a question about bindParam. SO the query looks like this: UPDATE table SET this = ?, another = ? WHERE title = ? AND time = ? as you can see I dont use bindParams instead I pass the right values in the right order ($array) directly into the execute($array) method. This works like a charm BUT is it safe not use use bindParam here? If not then how can I do it? Thanks from Sweden Tobias
