  • cannot convert 'b2PolygonShape' to 'objc_object*' in argument passing

    Hey there, I am not sure if many of you are familiar with the box2d physics engine, but I am using it within cocos2d and objective c. This more or less could be a general objective-c question though, I am performing this: NSMutableArray *allShapes = [[NSMutableArray array] retain]; b2PolygonShape shape; .. .. [allShapes addObject:shape]; and receiving this error on the addObject definition on build: cannot convert 'b2PolygonShape' to 'objc_object*' in argument passing So more or less I guess I want to know how to add a b2PolygonShape to a mutable array. b2PolygonShape appears to just be a class, not a struct or anything like that. The closest thing I could find on google to which I think could do this is described as 'encapsulating the b2PolygonShape as an NSObject and then add that to the array', but not sure the best way to do this, however I would have thought this object should add using addObject, as some of my other instantiated class objects add to arrays fine. Is this all because b2PolygonShape does not inherit NSObject at it's root? Thanks

    I got the book "Programming Role Playing Games with DirectX 2nd edition" and I notice there are things in the book that are now considered deprecated. There is a whole Section on DirectPlay. And as much as I would like to avoid this section, I am afraid it might screw up the entire engine he is trying to build. So I was just curious to know even though DirectPlay is considered deprecated by XNA, and directX10. Is it possible to use it still in DirectX 9 ??

    Formerly I was using MyISAM storage engine for MySql and I had defined the combination of three fields to be unique. Now I have switched to InnoDB, which I assume caused this problem, and now NULL != NULL. So for the following table: ID (Auto) | Field_A | Field_B | Field_C I can insert (Field_A,Field_B,Field_C) Values(1,2,NULL) (1,2,NULL) (1,2,NULL) infinitely many times. How can I prevent this behavior?

    I'm trying to export an Excel database into .txt (Tab Delimited), but some of my cells are quite large. When I export into a txt some of the cells are exported as '#######....' which is surprisingly useless. Has this happened to anyone else? Do you know an easy fix?   • Graphical sandbox for pathfinding

    If you needed a clean and consistent sandbox for pathfinding what would you use? I want to experiment with different pathfinding algorithms by sending virtual units (robots) around obstacles on a geometric plane. But I don't need a feature overkill like a game engine or Flash might have, just an animated report and native collision detector. I prefer it to be scripted in python, but if there are java or C++ alternatives I would appreciate them as well.

    Using Qt’s Webkit implementation renders much slower than directly implementing the Webkit engine -- is this true or just a myth? From my own experience, I found the load time of a complex page about twice as long in Qt’s “Fancy Browser” example as it does in Google Chrome (which also incorporates a port of Webkit), but I hardly think that is a fair comparison. Any insights on this?

  • AutoScroll issues with custom layout on Windows Forms application

    I've implemented a basic custom layout engine in Windows Forms that does control sizing and positioning. I was hoping to allow the AutoScroll features to work untouched, but any time I have enough controls on the screen to require a scroll bar, some of the layout events that get fired (i.e, a rich text box that expands the height as it types) not only fire the layout events, but they force the scroll bar back at (0,0). Do I have any options besides looking at the scroll position and positioning the controls manually based on that?

For example, in Linux, strip-down to a bare minimum all unecessary binaries, daemons, utilities, tune kernel parameters, optimize raw and cooked devices (hdparm). Someday, maybe, informix can create its own proprietary PICK-like O/S. The general idea is for the OS where ifx sits on have the smallest footprint, lowest overhead impact on ifx and provide optimized ifx performance.

Now, if I use new RegExp("<tag:main>([\s\S]*)</tag:main>"), all is good. Anyone have an idea why the first one takes too long?

    I have an application which uses a javascript based rules engine. I need a way to convert regular straight quotes into curl (or smart) quotes. It'd be easy to just do a string.replace for ["], only this will only insert one case of the curly quote. The best way I could think of was replace the first occurrence of a quote with a left curly quote and every other one following with a left, and the rest right curly. Is there a way to accomplish this using javascript?

  • Apache + Codeigniter + New Server + Unexpected Errors

    Alright here is the situation: I use to have my codeigniter site at bluehost were I did not have root access, I have since moved that site to rackspace. I have not changed any of the PHP code yet there has been some unexpected behavior. Unexpected Behavior: http://mysite.com/robots.txt Both old and new resolve to the robots file http://mysite.com/robots.txt/ The old bluehost setup resolves to my codeigniter 404 error page. The rackspace config resolves to: Not Found The requested URL /robots.txt/ was not found on this server. **This instance leads me to believe that there could be a problem with my mod rewrites or lack there of. The first one produces the error correctly through php while it seems the second senario lets the server handle this error. The next instance of this problem is even more troubling: 'http://mysite.com/search/term/9 x 1-1%2F2 white/' New site results in: Bad Request Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand. Old site results in: The actual page being loaded and the search term being unencoded. I have to assume that this has something to do with the fact that when I went to the new server I went from root level htaccess file to httpd.conf file and virtual server default and default-ssl.   • Simplest database implementation

    I am looking for a really simple database implementation; basically one with no complex parsing SQL engine. What I am looking for is something demonstrating B+ trees and ACID storage (Suitable for educational purposes). What I have found up-till now form my current searches was hamster-db. I am looking for something even simpler with a smaller code-base. If there is any such opensource project in your knowledge please let me know.
