  • How to scale an Image in ImageView to keep the aspect ratio

    Hi, In android, I defined an ImageView's layoutWidth to be 'fill_parent' (which takes up the full width of the phone). My question is if the Image i put to ImageView is bigger than the layoutWidth, android will scale it, right? But what about the height? when android scale it, will it keeps the aspect ratio? What I find out is, there is some 'white space' at the top/bottom of the ImageView when android scales an image which is bigger than the ImageView. Is that true? If yes, how can I eliminate that white spaces? Thank you.

    I have a span that is generated through javascript, with its css class as follows: .class1{ width:25px; height:25px; background-image: url(pic.png); background-repeat:no-repeat; background-position: center; cursor:pointer; margin-left:10px; } The problem is on, the html page, i can see the pointer -cursor, but not the background image,over the span, in IE7. In IE6, both get shown , no problems.

    I have a requirement to write a web service that allows me to post an image to a server along with some additional information about that image. I'm completely new to developing web services (normally client side dev) so I'm a little stumped as to what I need to look into and try. How do you post binary data and plain text into a servic? What RequestFormat should I use? It looks like my options are xml or json. Can I use either of these? Bit of a waffly question but I just need some direction rather than a solution as I can't seem to find much online.

    Hi All, I have a bunch of .eps files (CMYK) that I need to convert to .jpg (RGB) files. The following command sometimes gives me under or over saturated .jpg images, when compared to the source EPS file: $cmd = "convert -density 300 -quality 100% -colorspace RGB ".$epsURL." -flatten -strip ".$convertedURL; Is there a smarter way to do this such that the converted image will have the same qualities as the source EPS file?     In the image below, the sign on the side of the van is not face-on to the camera. I want to calculate, as best I can with the pixels I have, what it'd look like face on. I imagine that this is some kind of loop through the x and y axis doing a Bresenham's line on both dimensions at once with some kind of mixing when pixels in the source image overlap - some sub-pixel mixing of some sort? What approaches are there, and how do you mix the pixels? Is there a standard approach for this?

    I want to do something similar to what priceline does. It saves the recent searches in a dropdown menu. When you pick one from the recent search. The form will be populated accordingly. (See screen shot http://yfrog.com/5fscreenshot20100501at105p) This is what I am thinking. (1) Save the searches into an array in a cookie (2), when a recent search item is chosen, retrive the corresponding array element from the cookie and then populate the form. What do you think is the best way to implement this? I especially want to know how to save the form entries into the cookie and how to populate the form.

  • CSS Rollovers: how to main "hit area" size when hidden image is larger than anchor area

    I have a small problem and I don't think what I want to do can be achieved with just pure CSS, but I figured I'd ask anyway. Basically, I have one DIV which contains a hyperlinked element that is smaller in size to it's parent DIV. So in effect I have a square within a square with the inner square being the "hit area". When I mouse over this inner square I want the background of the outer square to change. I know it's not possible to change the parent DIV's background on a:hover, but I figured I could give the illusion of it happening by nesting a hidden image inside the anchor. This works great until I want to "roll off". The problem is that I want the image to disappear when I leave the area of the anchor tag, not the larger hidden image. Is this possible?     Hi all, bit of a jquery rookie here trying to get something to work. Basically I have a div with a class "nav" and inside that div is a nav list. I want to change the background-image of "nav" when hovering over an item in the navlist, so I made this unsuccesful effort: enter code here $(function(){ $("li#hover-first").mouseover(function(){ $("div.nav").removeClass("nav").addClass("navbg"); .mouseout(function(){$("div.nav").removeClass("navbg").addClass("nav"); }); So the idea is, once the first li item is hovered over, the div with classname "nav" has it's class removed and has "navbg" added (which has the alternate background image). Obviously this isn't working, so any help would be greatly appreciated...thanks.

  • How to handle alpha in a manual "Overlay" blend operation?

    I'm playing with some manual (walk-the-pixels) image processing, and I'm recreating the standard "overlay" blend. I'm looking at the "Photoshop math" macros here: http://www.nathanm.com/photoshop-blending-math/ (See also here for more readable version of Overlay) Both source images are in fairly standard RGBA (8 bits each) format, as is the destination. When both images are fully opaque (alpha is 1.0), the result is blended correctly as expected: But if my "blend" layer (the top image) has transparency in it, I'm a little flummoxed as to how to factor that alpha into the blending equation correctly. I expect it to work such that transparent pixels in the blend layer have no effect on the result, opaque pixels in the blend layer do the overlay blend as normal, and semitransparent blend layer pixels have some scaled effect on the result. Can someone explain to me the blend equations or the concept behind doing this? Bonus points if you can help me do it such that the resulting image has correctly premultiplied alpha (which only comes into play for pixels that are not opaque in both layers, I think.)   • How can I search for numbers in a varchar column

    I've got a simple nvarchar(25) column in an SQL database table. Most of the time, this field should contain alphanumeric text. However, due to operator error, there are many instances where it contains only a number. Can I do a simple search in SQL to identify these cases? That is, determine which rows in the table contain only digits in this column. As an extension, could I also search for those column values which contain only digits and a space and/or slash. In other languages (eg. Perl, Java) a regular expression would resolve this quickly and easily. But I haven't been able to find the equivalent in SQL.

    Hey guys, I'm using a ldap server to store phonerecords. I want to select a record with a specific telnumber. So this is what I'm doing: LdapSearchResults lsc = _conn.Search(dnForPhonebook, 1, "(&(objectClass=*)(uid=" + id + "))", null, false); I'm using novell library for ldap commands. The options i need to give in for the Search command are the dn to the node "phonebook" (string), scope (int), filter (string), attrrs (string[]) and typesOnly (bool). As you can see, for the filter, i'm pasting the parameter as string in de stringfilter. I was wondering, does ldap have the same way of work as mysql or sql server, which can work with paramaters?   • Performance - User defined query / filter to search data

    What is the best way to design a system where users can create their own criterias to search data ? By "design" i mean, data storage, data access layer and search structure. We will actually refactor an existing application which is written in C# and ASP .NET and we don't want to change the infrastructure. Our main issue is performance and we use MSSQL and DevExpress to build queries. Some queries run in 4-5 minutes and all the columns included in the queries have indexes. When i check queries, i see that DevExpress builds too many "exists" clauses and i'm not happy with that because i have doubts that some of these queries skip some indexes. What may be the alternatives to DevExpress? NHibernate or Entity Framework? Can we build dynamic criteria system and store these to database in both of them ? And also do we need any alternative storage like a lucene index or OLAP database?

I want to display another Indicator in my SiteMapPath bar which shows a post back is happening no matter what. I want to display another image ( for every postbacks not only for one) in top of application toolbar.
