  • SQL Server Constraints Across Tables

    I have a SQL Server database with an Apartment table (which has columns FloorNum and BuildingID) and an ApartmentBuilding table (with column NumFloors). Is there any way to set up a constraint (using the SQL Server UI) to check that Apartment.FloorNum is greater than ApartmentBuilding.NumFloors? I tried this: FloorNum > ApartmentBuilding.NumFloors but now I realize that I somehow have to join the columns on the BuildingID, but I have no idea how to do that within a constraint.     Hi, I'm trying to update a field in the database to the sum of it's joined values: UPDATE P SET extrasPrice = SUM(E.price) FROM dbo.BookingPitchExtras AS E INNER JOIN dbo.BookingPitches AS P ON E.pitchID = P.ID AND P.bookingID = 1 WHERE E.[required] = 1 When I run this I get the following error: "An aggregate may not appear in the set list of an UPDATE statement." Any ideas?

Imagine you choosing your database, or your entity beans, and the modeling would reverse engineer your database/entity model, so that you could visually just choose the columns you wanted to select, and it would generate jpa or sql queries for you. For instance choosing A.b and X.y would generate something like this: select a.b, x.y from A a, X x join ......

    I have following problem: I want to check (C#) if thread has finished execution, i.e. if the thread method returned. What I do now is call Thread.Join(1), but this gives 1 ms delay. Is there any way to simply check if thread finished. Inspecting Thread.ThreadState just seems too cumbersome.

  • Setting up a linked server to another server which isn't in a domain without using SQL authenticatio

    Server A (SQL2005) is in our primary domain, but server B (SQL2000) is just in a windows workgroup. We are not allowed to join it to the domain, or bad things happen... We also can't enable SQL authentication on server B. We've got domain accounts for A, and matching local accounts on server B. I can connect to B from my local PC or A using SSMS and a domain login, but I can't get the linked server to connect. Any ideas how to do this?

    I am using the return from the following call as the datasource for a grid. public object GetPropertyDataSourceWithCheckBox( ) { return ( from p in LocalProperties join c in GetCities( ) on p.CityID equals c.CityID orderby p.StreetNumber select new { Selected = false, p.PropertyID, p.StreetNumber, p.StreetName, c.CityName } ).ToList( ); } I get a checkbox in the grid, but it is READ-ONLY. [For the record, the grid is DevExpress.] Is there a way around this, short of creating a non-anonymous class?

    So i want to join strings with relative urls in Javascript. base url = "http://www.adress.com/more/evenmore" with relative url = "../../adress" = "http://www.adress.com/adress" relative url = "../adress" = "http://www.adress.com/more/adress" What would be the best way? I was thinking of using regexp and checking how many "../" i find, then subtracting that amount from the baseurl and adding them to what is left.
