• How to get at specific HTML elements of a document using C# and Hide them/Show them etc.

  Basically I want to load a HTML document and using controls such as multiple check boxes which will be programmed to hide, delete or show HTML elements with certain ID's. So I am thinking I would have to set an inline CSS property for visibility to: false on the ones I want to hide or delete them altogether when necessary. I need this so I don't have to edit my Ebay HTML templates in dreamweaver all the time, where I usually have to scroll around messy code and manually delete or add tags and their respective content. Whereas I just want to create one master template in dreamweaver which has all the variations that my products have, since they are all of the same genre with slight changes here and there and I just need to enable and disable the visibility of these variants as required and copy + paste the final html. I haven's used Windows Forms before, but tried doing this in WebForms which I do know a bit. I am able to get the result that I want by wrapping any HTML elements in a <asp:PlaceHolder></asp:PlaceHolder> and just setting that place holders visibility to false after the associated checkbox is checked and a postback occurs, finally I add a checkbox/button control that removes all the checkboxes, including itself etc for final html. But this method seems just like too much pain in the ass as I have to add the placeholder tags around everything that I need control over as ordinary html elements do not run at server, also webforms injects a bunch of Javascript and ViewState data so I don't have clean HTML which I can just copy after viewing the page source. Any tips/code that you can suggest to achieve the desired effect with the least changes required to existing HTML documents? Ideally I would want to load the HTML document in, have a live design preview of it and underneath have a bunch of well labelled checkboxes programmed to hide, delete or show elements with certain ID's. • Javascript to fire event when a key pressed on the Ajax Toolkit Combo box.

  I have the following drop down list which is using the Ajax Toolkit to provide a combo box <cc1:ComboBox ID="txtDrug" runat="server" style="font-size:8pt; width:267px;" Font-Size="8pt" DropDownStyle="DropDownList" AutoCompleteMode="SuggestAppend" AutoPostBack="True" ontextchanged="txtDrug_TextChanged" /> Now I need to load this up with approx 7,000 records which takes a considerable time, and effects the response times when the page is posted back and forth. The code which loads these records is as follows; dtDrugs = wsHelper.spGetAllDrugs(); txtDrug.DataValueField = "pkDrugsID"; txtDrug.DataTextField = "drugName"; txtDrug.DataSource = dtDrugs; txtDrug.DataBind(); However if I could get an event to fire when a letter is typed instead of having to load 7000 records it is reduced to less than 50 in most instances. I think this can be done in Javascript. So the question is how can I get an event to fire such that when the form starts there is nothing in the drop down, but as soon as a key is pressed it searches for those records starting with that letter. The .Net side of things I'm sure about - it is the Javascript I'm not. Thanks in advance

• SharePoint webpart with button to auto-login to 3rd party website

  I have been tasked with creating a SharePoint 2007 webpart that logs the user directly into our website (which uses forms authentication). Most likely the username and password will be same in the SharePoint account as in our website. Ideally we would like it to be fully integrated in that the webpart looks up the SP login & password, somehow encodes that using SHA1, MD5 or similar encryption, then passes that along to our login page on the query string. However given we have little experience with SharePoint, and that it's probably impossible to programmatically access the SP username/password from a webpart we realize this isn't very likely to be possible and if so would probably require a lot of development time. Another option would be to load a login form from the website within an iframe in the webpart, which would show the login & password first but store a "remember me" cookie after the first login, and on each subsequent load display just a button that logs them in directly using the cookie. Has anyone done something similar before? I'm in over my head, any guidance would be much appreciated! :)

• Events still not showing up despite the many tries...sigh

  I have tried the recommendation from this forum and through the many google searches...but i still can't get the events to show up on my calendar via jsp....i tried with php and it worked...sigh...i wonder where is the error....sigh.... • Google Maps: Simple app not working on IE

  We have a simple Google Maps traffic application up at: http://www.avonandsomerset.police.uk/newsroom/traffic/ For some reason it's recently stopped working in IE correctly. At this point in time it was using V2 of the API, so I've just upgraded it to use V3 - but it still won't work in IE. It works fine in Chrome & Firefox. But in all versions of IE I've tired (6,7,8) the Google Map doesn't load fully. The problem The Google Map DIV will generally load all the controls (Zoom, Powered by Google, map types) but the actual map tiles do not appear in IE. I'm using this on a drag and drop build-a-bracelet type of application, and the amount of images returned is sometimes in the 500s. So it get's pretty held up during transmission, sometimes 10 seconds or so. I know I'd do good by caching them some way, just not sure how to go about it. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks. -Wes

So if I select downloaded ADT plugin - content of it load - developer tools and ndk plugin so I select all and click next. • ASP Force Download

  In PHP I can do: header("Content-type: application/octet-stream") and then anything that I output is downloaded instead of showing in the browser. Is there a similar way to do this in ASP? I have seen about all the file streaming and such using ADODB.Stream, but that doesn't seem to work for me and always requires another file to load the content from. Bit of an ASP noob, so go easy on me. :p All I want to do is have a script that outputs a CSV and that will force download instead of showing in the browser. • Loading Dimension Tables - Methodologies

  Hello, Recently I been working on project, where need to populated Dim Tables from EDW Tables. EDW Tables are of type II which does maintain historical data. When comes to load Dim Table, for which source may be multiple EDW Tables or would be single table with multi level pivoting (on attributes). Mean: There would be 10 records - one for each attribute which need to be pivoted on domain_code to make a single row in Dim. Out of these 10 records there would be some attributes with same domain_code but with different sub_domain_code, which needs further pivoting on subdomain code. Ex: if i got domain code: 01,02, 03 = which are straight pivot on domain code I would also have domain code: 10 with subdomain code / version as 2006,2007,2008,2009 That means I need to split my source table with above attributes into two = one for domain code and other for domain_code + version. so far so good. When it comes to load Dim Table: As per design specs for Dimensions (originally written by third party), what they want is: for every single change in EDW (attribute), it should assemble all the related records (for that NK) mean new one with other attribute values which are current = process them to create a new dim record and insert it. That mean if a single extract contains 100 records updated (one for each NK), it should assemble 100 + (100*9) records to insert / update dim table. How good is this approach. Other way I tried to do is just do a lookup into dim table for that NK get the value's of recent records (attributes which not changed) and insert it and update the current one. What would be the better approach assembling records at source side for one attribute change or looking into dim table's recent record and process it. If this doesn't make sense, would like to elaborate it further. Thanks

  I'm working on a login system for a forum and trying to make it work via a c# .net form. I need to programitically click the login button on the forum with a webBrower control. • Adding Categories to my Articles in my Rails app (Small Help)

  I'm currently building a semi-small ruby app for a project. The problem I'm currently facing is the following: I want to be Able to fit the Article into the Categories. I've already accomplish this by having two models. An article model with a foreign key of category_id and my Category model with the name of the category. With a has_one and belogs_to relationship. (We're assuming you can only fit an article into one category). Here's the piece of code. This is the new method, where i create a new article and load up all the categories. def new @article = Article.new @categories = Category.find(:all) end The problem comes when i try to get the category from a combo box in order to insert it along with the article. This is the combo box code : f.select(:category_id,@categories) And this is the create method: def create @category = Category.find(params[:id]) @article = @category.articles.new(params[:article]) if @article.save flash[:notice] = "Article Submitted Sucessfully" redirect_to user_path else render :action = 'new' end end I believe that the problem i have is in this line when i try to load up the selected category "@category = Category.find(params[:id])" because whenever i hardcode the this line into @category = Category.find(1) It Works perfectly

  I need to post raw xml to a site and read the response. With the following code I keep getting an "Unknown File Format" error and I'm not sure why. • Can we run two simultaneous non-nested loops in Perl?

  Part of my code goes like this: while(1){ my $winmm = new Win32::MediaPlayer; $winmm->load('1.mp3'); $winmm->play; $winmm->volume(100); Do Some Stuff; last if some condition is met; } Problem is: I want the music to be always on when I'm in the Do Some Stuff stage in the while loop. But the length of the music is so short that it will come to a full stop before I go to the next stage, so I want the music to repeat itself, but the Win32::Mediaplayer module does not seem to have a repeat mode, so I'm thinking of doing an infinite loop for the music playing part. Like this: while(1){ my $winmm = new Win32::MediaPlayer; $winmm->load('1.mp3'); $winmm->play; $winmm->volume(100); } while(2){ Do some stuff; last if some condition is met } But based on my current Perl knowledge if I'm in the while(1) part, I can never go to the while(2) part. Even if it comes to a nested loop, I have to do something to break out of the inside loop before going to the other part of the outside loop. The answer to my question "Can we run two simultaneous non-nested loops in Perl?" may be a NO, but I assume there is some way of handling such situation. Correct me if I'm wrong. I am initializing the search objects in the OnLoad function and I am calling the searchControl execute function when the user clicks on a search button. The problem is that my function attached to setSearchCompleteCallback never get called. • Ember Data Sycn - LocalStorage+REST+RealTime+Online/Offline

  We have a combination of requirements in terms o data access. Pre-load some reference data. We need reference data to survive browser restarts instead of just living in memory to avoid loading it all the time. I'm currently using the LocalStorageAdapter for that. Once we have it, we would like to sync changes (polling or using Socket.IO in the background and updating the LocalStorage could do the trick) There're other models that are more transactional, where we would need to directly go to the Server and get/save them. It would be nice to use something like the RESTAdapter for that. Lastly, there're some operations that should work off-line and changes should be synced later. To make it more concrete: * We pre-load vendor and "favorite products" into Local Storage. We work offline with those. * We need to sync server changes to vendor and product information. * If they search the full catalog, that requires them to be online. * When offline, we need to allow users to add something to their cart or even submit and order. We would like to queue this action and submit it when they have an Internet Connection. So a few questions are derived from this: * Is there a way to user RESTAdapter in combination with LocalStorage? * Is there some Socket.IO support? (Happy to do this part manually) * Is there Queueing support? Ideally at the Ember-Data level. I know we will have to do a lot of this manually and pull together the different lego pieces, but I wanted to ask for some perspective from experience Ember devs.

• jquery delay a link from being followed

  I have a short css-based animation that I want to play out before a link is followed (a card that swooped in on page load swoops out after click). Currently, however, the page called loads too quickly. I want to be able to briefly delay the href from being followed. Here's what I've got: $(document).ready(function() { $("#card").css("top","0px"); $(".clickit").click(function() { $("#card").css("top","-500"); }); }); The first line swoops the card in on page load. After that is the click call that modifies the CSS, but like I said there needs to be some kind of delay in there because the page loads immediately, instead of after the animation. The CSS that is modified looks like this: #card { width: 400px; height: 500px; position: relative; top: -500px; -webkit-transition:all .5s; } (yes, I know this is webkit-only right now) This is a problem very similar to this question from 2008, but I know jQuery has been updated significantly since then, so I wanted to see if there was a more modern solution. • Not able to play videos (from youtube) in WebView

  I am using a webview to display a video (could be from youtube or vimeo) in my app. In order to not load the video webpages in the default Android Browser, I am also extending the WebViewClient so I can override the shouldOverrideUrlLoading method. This way the video webpage loads successfully in the WebView. However, when I click on the embedded video on the WebView, it does not play. If I do not override the shouldOverrideUrlLoading method, and let the video webpages load in the default Android browser, the videos work just fine. Any ideas why the videos are not working in the WebView? Also, the main reason why I overrode the shouldOverrideUrlLoading method is because if I do not do that, then when I exit the Android browser to come back to my activity (by hitting the back button on the phone), I see a white screen. Upon hitting the back button twice, I am able to get back to my Activity. I am using the emulator to do this test. • In M-V-VM where does my code go?

  So, this is a pretty basic question I hope. I have a web service that I've added through Add Service Reference. It has some methods to get list and get detail of a perticular table in my database. What I'm trying to do is setup a UI as follows: App Load Load service proxy Call the GetList(); method display the results in a ListBox control User Double Clicks item in ListBox, display a modal dialog with a "detail" view I'm extremely new to using MVVM, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Additional information: // Service Interface (simplification): interface IService { IEnumerable<MyObject> GetList(); MyObject GetDetail(int id); } // Data object (simplification) class MyObject { public int ID { get; set; } public string Name { get; set; } } I'm thinking I should have something like this: MainWindow MyObjectViewUserControl Displays list Opens modal window on double click Specific Questions: What would my ViewModel class look like?   I have a model and controller who gets some data from my database and returns the following array Array ( [2010] => Array ( [year] => 2010 [months] => Array ( [0] => stdClass Object ( [sales] => 2 [month] => Apr ) [1] => stdClass Object ( [sales] => 1 [month] => Nov ) ) ) [2011] => Array ( [year] => 2011 [months] => Array ( [0] => stdClass Object ( [sales] => 1 [month] => Nov ) ) ) ) It shows exactly what it should show but the key's have different names so I have no idea on how to loop through the years using foreach in my view. • What's the best way to store Logon User information for Web Application?

  I was once in a project of web application developed on ASP.NET. For each logon user, there is an object (let's call it UserSessionObject here) created and stored in RAM. For each HTTP request of given user, matching UserSessoinObject instance is used to visit user state information and connection to database. So, this UserSessionObject is pretty important. This design brings several problems found later: 1) Since this UserSessionObject is cached in ASP.NET memory space, we have to config load balancer to be sticky connection. That is, HTTP request in single session would always be sent to one web server behind. This limit scalability and maintainability. 2) This UserSessionObject is accessed in every HTTP request. To keep the consistency, there is a exclusive lock for the UserSessionObject. Only one HTTP request can be processed at any given time because it must to obtain the lock first. The performance and response time is affected. Now, I'm wondering whether there is better design to handle such logon user case. It seems Sharing-Nothing-Architecture helps. That means long user info is retrieved from database each time. I'm afraid that would hurt performance. Is there any design pattern for long user web app? Thanks.

• Increasing figure size in Matplotlib

  I am trying to plot a graph from a distance matrix. The code words fine and gives me a image in 800 * 600 pixels. The image being too small, All the nodes are packed together. I want increase the size of the image. so I added the following line to my code - figure(num=None, figsize=(10, 10), dpi=80, facecolor='w', edgecolor='k') After this all I get is a blank 1000 * 1000 image file. • apache proxy module gives 403 forbidden error

  I am trying to use the apache's proxy module for working with xmpp on ubuntu desktop. For this i did the following things - 1) enabled mod_proxy by creating a symlink of proxy.conf, proxy.load and proxy_http.load from /etc/apache2/mods-available/ in the mods-enabled directory. 2) Added the following lines to the vhost <Proxy http://mydomain.com/httpbind> Order allow,deny Allow from all </Proxy> ProxyPass /httpbind http://mydomain.com:7070/http-bind/ ProxyPassReverse /httpbind http://mydomain.com:7070/http-bind/ I am new to using the proxy module but what i can make from the above lines is that requests to http://mydomain.com/httpbind will be forwarded to http://mydomain.com:7070/http-bind/. Kindly correct if wrong. 3) added rule Allow from .mydomain.com in /mods-available/proxy.conf Now i try to access http://mydomain.com/httpbind and it shows 403 Forbidden error.. What am i missing here ? Please help. thanks Edit : The problem got solved when i changed the following code in mods_available/proxy.conf <Proxy *> AddDefaultCharset off Order deny,allow Deny from all Allow from mydomain.com </Proxy> to <Proxy *> AddDefaultCharset off Order deny,allow #Deny from all Allow from all </Proxy> Didnt get what was wrong with the initial code though

• is concatenating the only way to 'import' one JS lib from another?

  Disclaimer: JS novice I have a JS widget that depends on JQuery. The widget's going to be embedded in a 3rd party site but I figure out how to avoid declaring dependency on jquery on the widget-hosting page: 3rd party's page: <head> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.4.2/jquery.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://mydomain/mywidget.js"></script> </head> mywidget.js jQuery(document).ready(function() { //do stuff }); I'd rather not include jquery.js in the 3d party page but express the dependency inside mywidget.js (so i can change this dependency or add/remove others w/o having to update the widget-hosting page) I tried adding: var script = document.createElement('script'); script.src = 'http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.4.2/jquery.js'; script.type = 'text/javascript'; document.getElementsByTagName('head')[0].appendChild(script); to the top of mywidget.js but that didn't work - jquery.js did load on page load but "jQuery" was not recognized. What did work was concatenating jquery.js and mywidget.js into a single .js file. But that seems kind of lame - is there no equivalent to? import com.jquery.*; thanks!
