    I am making a website where users can vote on which category a page is. They can vote that the page is category, for example: a, b, c, or d. Please don't ask what I am using this for, it is not important, I just want to know how to do it. I need to find the most commonly occurring category in the mysql row out of all the votes. Each time a user submits their vote, it submits the "category" that they voted for, and the "page_id". I have this so far: select page_id, category from categories group by page_id You cannot simply use a "COUNT(*) where category = 'a'" then repeat it for each category because there is many more categories in the actual project.

    Guys, I have a webpage that has a Telerik RadComboBox on the page. One of the properties of this ComboBox is EmptyMessage, which fills the combobox with a message when an item is not selected. I am binding my combobox to a datasource at runtime and for some reason, it wipes this EmptyMessage away. Is there a way to keep my data items in tact and have the empty message there too? And default it to the empty message?

    I am tryint to tokenize entries from a file. However I am not able to use the line.split("") option because of unequal number of spaces between files. I have no trouble accessing the first and second columns, but not the last column. When I do a info=line.spilt(""), since the third column might or might no entries, I am not able to determine the token number. How do i access the 4th column? Is there a way i can use info[i].contains(" -")?

    I have a stored time value which is of the format H:mm:ss. The hours may be any value from 0 up through several days. This data is sent in an XML tag and processed by XSL to be displayed. The display that I want is of the format: D days, HH:mm:ss (hours/minutes) Where the last tag shows hours if HH is greater than 0, minutes if it is 0. Given the original HH, which may be more than 24, I know I need the floor of HH / 24 to get the days value. Then the original HH % 24 gives me the leftover hours. I have also handled the minutes and hours question using xsl:when and xsl:if. It's getting days and hours from the hours value that has me stumped.     I have a settings menu that pops up and in it is a listpreference type menu. It is associated with a settings.xml file where there are 'array-strings' within it. It all works good but I don't know how to retrieve the users preference. As an example, let's say the user picks a color (red, green, or blue). The list that I've made within my 'array-strings' contain the text red, green, and blue. Within my code, I would like to do something if the user has choosen red, something else if they choose blue, etc., etc. Would I use a 'case' statement or an 'if' statement? And most importantly, how would I retrieve the users preference - the key? (am I checking for a boolean?) Help would be appreciated...thank you...

    I'm generating an XML from data that comes from database (and some JSON feeds). I'm having some problems with some texts that contains some hex chars that are breaking my XML. For example, see this screenshot of the error I get from Chrome: I identified the hex characters that are giving me problems (I believe they're called control characters). And these are: 0x03 0x05 0x16 0x0E How can I replace those characters with PHP before printing them on my XML output? Thanks!

How do I connect this to the NSArrayController I added in IB? Does my app delegate need an IBOutlet NSArrayController to connect to or is there a way to bind it? Also, when I bind the NSArrayController to the NSPopUpButtonCell, do which Content do I bind it to? Content or Content Values? jorj

    I have a scenario where I need to display how many males, females and Unspecified are there from City1, City2, City3, etc. I am trying to use bubble chart for this. So I want to display this chart with y axis showing Male, Female and Unspecified as Y axis labels and City1, City2,City3 as X axis labels. The actual count being displayed as a square bubble on the chart. This is little urgent. I could not locate any similar sample on MS documentation too.     Hello Everyone, The following code is causing me some problems. The third line causes a program crash... it doesn't happen the first time I step through but somehow later on in the program. If I comment out that third line, the program runs smoothly. NSString *myRequestString = @"text"; int i = 1; myRequestString = [myRequestString stringByAppendingString:[NSString stringWithFormat: @"t=%d", i]]; That code causes this exception: * -[CFString release]: message sent to deallocated instance 0xb4c43fe0 On a side note, can anyone tell me how to concatenate strings in objective-c like any other normal language... I can't believe that there is no concatenation operator. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

    Hello. I'm developing an iPhone application. I use a NSDictionary to store city's names as key, and population as value. I want to search the keys using lowercase. I've using this: NSDictionary *dict; [dict objectForKey:[[city stringByTrimmingCharactersInSet:[NSCharacterSet whitespaceAndNewlineCharacterSet]] lowercaseString]]; But, it doesn't work. I know, I can do a for, convert keys to lowercase and compare with city. Is there any other way to do that? Maybe, with a NSDictionary method. UPDATE The NSDictionary is loaded from a property list.     I have a website that emails a link to the invoice when an order is complete. The link should be http://mysite.com/QuoteAndBook/Confirmation?orderId=123 But for some reason it is: http://204435-204435/QuoteAndBook/Confirmation?orderId=123 The host portion of the link is generated using HttpContext.Current.Request.Url.Host but I would expect that to return "mysite.com", not "204435-204435". Any idea what's going on?
