• Resolving System Restore error - Error 0x800423F3 - The writer experienced a transient error

  System restore just stopped working, when I needed it most. (tried diff restore points... same error). Now everytime I run system-restore, it fails with the above error message. I cleared the event logs and retried to isolate the relevant events. I see 5 warnings and 1 info event from VSS and 1 error from System Restore. • How to get Facebook-Feeds in Trillian without connecting to Facebook-Chat?

  I installed the trial of Trillian 5.0 Build 22 (I don't know if the version 4 Astra is any different). I successfully added my Facebook account so I can see my facebook news on Trillian and works great. The problem is that I don't want to use the Facebook-chat, and if I disconnect the Facebook-chat the rest of the facebook stuff (news, events, groups, request) also disappears. I tried by setting the Facebook status to Away; and I'm not sure if someone can chat with me if I choose that; but anyway I still have the contacts list full of people I don't want. EDIT: Maybe I wasn't clear enough about the Facebook part. And that might be why some people fell this is off-topic. But when I talk about Facebook in this question, I'm not referring to the Facebook site at any point. I'm mean the Facebook plugin of Trillian (and it's not an user plugin; it's a built-in plugin).

• Adobe Reader unusably slow on Mac OS X 10.6.6

  We've got two Macs that are both running 10.6.6. On my MBP, Adobe (Acrobat) Reader started behaving weird a few weeks ago. It became very sluggish, started missing mouse clicks or mouse button releases, scrolling was next to impossible. Most of the time it does not handle Page Up / Page Down events at all. Zooming works erratically if at all. It's basically unusable. On the other Mac (an iMac), there are no such problems. I've tried to remove and reinstall Adobe Reader as well as upgrading to the latest version, but unfortunately without success. This is the only software that is behaving strangely on this Mac, everything else is working fine. What else could I try?

• Can Windows-Security-SPP block execution of .exe?

  We're seeing a strange situation, where some executables won't run from a Windows command prompt (running as admin). Just running the command (say, filename.exe) gives no response on the console. No errors, no output, nothing. If we copy over the same Windows .exe from a different folder, it "magically" starts working, and we see the default console output. (Happens both on Win7 x64, and Win2008R2 x64. Application is running as 32-bit process.) At the time when it accesses the .exe, I can see events in the application and system logs regarding Windows-Security-SPP, and it makes me believe that the .exe is being blocked from execution. Does this sound familiar?

  Our two server SharePoint 2007 SP2 farm has an issue. Event ID 6482 appears in the Application log of the Web front end many times a day. Often many time a minute. • What is this jumper for on my new motherboard?

  I am building a new PC, I just got my motherboard in the mail today. It is a ASRock X58 Extreme 3. I am reading over the manual for it and one of the jumpers says this. There is a 3 pin jumper labeled 1 2 3, with pins 1 and 2 shorted by default it is "+5v" If I manually change it to short jumper pins 2 and 3 instead of 1 and 2 then it will be "+5vSB (standby) for PS/2 or USB wake up events. So I am confused as to exactly what this is for. Can someone explain what it means, why I would want one other the other?

  I'm not really an Office Communications Server expert, but just trying to resolve some seemingly minor issues with a new install... The following error is occurring in the OCS event log, and when I try to visit https://servername:444/LiveServer/MCUFactory in Internet Explorer to test the address, I just get a "page cannot be displayed" error. I can telnet to port 444 on the server and verify that the port is open and listening. Any ideas?   hi, i have been getting warning of version mismatch when i was trying to export data dump using mysql workbench. So, i copied mysqldump from mysql server folder and placed it in workbench folder. • Default Document not posting for IIS 7

  I am using URL rerouting in Asp.net 4.0 and my default page for the site is \home where user's can log in the app.So when the users type in my site's url i.e www.domain.com cause of the defualt page config which I have it gets redirected to my home.aspx page which is mapped on my global.asax as \home. Now all the log in request i.e Post request coming from www.domain.com are failing no events are being fired on the server. Where as if I try www.domain.com\home then things starts working I am able to log on. I had read a similar issue but still am confused about the solution http://forums.iis.net/t/1164877.aspx , this used to work fine on IIS 6 but on IIS 7 such a scenario started happening. Am I missing some configuration , please help.

• Problems accessing FileZilla FTP Server from static IP

  I'm trying to connect to my FTP server from my external IP address on Comcast Business. On the gateway I've set up port-forwarding on ports 20-21 to my server. Additionally I've forwarded ports 7000-8000 to my server for use in passive mode. In my FileZilla Server application I've set up passive mode to use my static IP and to use the subset of ports listed above. Unfortunately, it doesn't work through the external static IP for some reason, but I can internally. When I try to connect through static IP, the FileZila monitor says Connected, sending welcome message.... 220 FileZillaServer version 0.9.37 beta could not send reply, disconnected My firewall doesn't register any block events and windows firewall is disabled. What am I doing wrong or missing?

• Windows Server 2008 (sp2) stops responding on network share requests from Windows Vista and 7 client

  I have two Windows Server 2008 SP2 machines (TFS and TFSBUILD). Periodically, the TFSBUILD server shares (\TFSBUILD\ShareName or \TFSBUILD\C$) become unresponsive to requests from Windows Vista (Server 2008) and Windows 7 client requests. Windows XP machines are still able to connect. No events in the server log indicate any problem. A simple restart corrects the issue temporarily, but it always returns. No, it is not this http://support.microsoft.com/kb/976266 (we aren't using that software). All anti-virus software has been disabled, firewall is disabled by policy. No other network activity is affected. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

• All of ESX4 hosts not responding after rebooting vCenter server

  Hello I'm constructing 5ESX+a vCenter serv. I'm testing FT on the system. Today vCenter OS (W2008) demanded system reboot. After rebooting vCenter Serv. All of ESX hosts have alert icon. end indicate "not responding" I tried to connect ESX (version 4) hosts to vCenter again. Once they came back normally, but after few seconds ,They turned red again. All of them have ping connection to vCenter serv. There are no red messages in Tusks and events. Two messages are found in Summary of Cluster ·There aren't sufficient resource for HA failover. ·Can't contact primary HA agent. I'm also not able to reset FT configuration because all of VMS aren't accessed from vCenter What should I do?

• How to disable augroup in vim?

  I understand that in my vimrc I can add autocmd, and I can group them into augroup. Once they are grouped, what can I do with the group? Specifically, is there a way to disable the whole group at once? Looking at the help, I only see two options: augroup! will delete the whole group: I don't think this is right since I will want to re-enable it again. Searching for "aucmd" and "disable" brings up eventignore, but this looks like it's for specific events like CursorMoved, BufWinLeave, etc. and not the command or the group itself. How is this done?

• VSS error 12293 after system disk clone (Win2003)

  Hi! After cloning a windows 2003 installation from a single drive onto two mirrored drives using Acronis Disk Director, VSS no longer works, filing events 12293 and 7001 when trying to use backup tools, and additionally giving error 0x8004230f when accessing the Shadow copy tab of disk properties. I've google-researched this quite throughly, and found a suggested fix[1]: replacing the MBR signature of the disk. This would cause windows to invalidate old shadow copy information, which supposedly would make it all work again. However, I am a bit nervous over this... Is there a possiblity of messing this up somehow, because of the mbr originating from a single disk install, and now residing on a raid mirror? Has anyone here had this problem and solved it? • Using Automator to click on an Application-specific button

  I'm new to Automator. I need to launch a specific application and to click on one of its buttons. I've used the "Watch Me Do" feature to register the button click but, in the Automator events log, this action is being reported as "Bring the window XXX to the front." I'm then wondering if a better way exists to "record" a button-click. • Update mysql database with arpwatch textfile database

  I'm looking to keep arpwatch entries in a mysql database to crossreference with other information I'm storing based on mac addresses. I've manually imported the arpwatch database into my mysql database, but being a novice with databases I'm not sure what the best way to continually update the database with new entries without creating duplicates would be. None of the fields can be unique, as even the time is duplicated frequently. I'm not interested in the actual arpwatch events like flip flop or new station, just the mac/ip/time pairings. Would a simple bash (or sql) shell script do the trick? Would it be possible to make the mac address plus the time be a composite key of some sort? the database is called utility, table is arpwatch, columns are mac, ip, time a seperate table named 'hosts' with columns mac, ip, type, hostname, location, notes has mac as the primary key. This table will correlate different ip addresses that a mac had over time using the arpwatch column initial import was done with MySQL Workbench using INSERT INTO commands with creative search and replace on the text file

• Eclipse And Linux: Keyboard unusable after gnome-screen-saver

  Hi, I know this is not programming related. But I can't find any topics on Google or UbuntuForums. So the problem is: When gnome-screensaver starts on the moment Eclipse has the focus and I wake up again my laptop, Eclipse doesn't listen to keyboard-events. To solve this I have to change the focus to another program and then back to Eclipse. Than it works again. This isn't a real problem, but it would be nice if someone can solve it. Thanks

  I'm trying to backup a single VM using "wbdamin". I'm using this command-line: wbadmin start backup -backupTarget:d: -hyperv:VM_Machine_Name -quiet But the backup have no success. I didn't find any info about "0x8100010C" error code through the web and I'm stuck. Anyone know how to fix this?

• Slow IE8 Start-up due to LDAP DNS queries

  Recently (in the last few days), my installation of IE8 has been taking 15 to 20 seconds to load my home page. Specifically, the sequence of events (as reported by WireShark) is:- Browser issues a DNS A query to resolve the home page server's IP address. Browser then spends the next 15-20 seconds broadcasting DNS SRV _LDAP._TCP queries, (roughly on a 2 second tick) to which it receives no answer (we have no LDAP servers). Browser re-issues the DNS A query and resolves the server's IP address again. Finally, the browser issues an HTTP GET for the home page. Does anyone know why this is happening?
