    Hi. I aw working on cross site authentication (some domains have got common authentication). So I want to send authentication data (login, password) to main domain from others. How should I use protect_from_forgery and how can I check if data received from valid domain? What I am thinking now is to turn off protect_from_forgery for session controller and check domain name of received data. But maybe I can configure CSRF protection for not only one domain?

  • How to sandbox a VMWare image as much as possible

    The situation: -A corporate environment, with a corporate managed XP desktop (locked down, patched regularly, restricted user rights, no manual install of SW, AV, etc.) The requirement: -Using VMWare Workstation, run a sandboxed image (also XP) for specific testing purposes (with admin rights in the guest VM). No network connectivity is required. It can't be a separate standalone physical workstation disconnected from the network. (FWIW, this is a legitimate, sanctioned requirement - not someone trying to get around corporate restrictions.) The challenge: -Do this in as safe/secure a manner as possible. The proposed solution: -Create an image with host-only networking. -Perhaps remove the virtual ethernet adapter? (not sure if it's required for basic VMWare functionality?) The question (finally): -What potential risks remain (and how could I best mitigate them)? One challenge is that the guest VM will not be a managed workstation itself, so patching, AV, etc. can't be guaranteed (and, ironically, would in fact be somewhat difficult given the proposed solution!)

  • how to close open ftp connections?

    I use FileZilla, and I thought when a session ended, it automatically closed the ftp connection, but that doesn't appear to have happened because now I'm getting a "530 Sorry, the maximum number of connections (10) for your host are already connected." error. Is there a way to find any open ftp connections and close them from my end? Or, do I have to contact the host?

    I just spent 3 hours wondering why I couldn't start a session, then realised that I used: session_start; when I should have used: session_start(); I received no error messages at all! Perhaps then, I thought, it's a lazy way to differentiate functions from variables - but then remembered that it can't be as variables require a $ Can anyone tell me why parentheses are required then, and also why no error is given when they aren't used?

    Is there a way to find out how much memory is used by an instance of a class or basic data types in general? I have a toy webframework in cl that creates and manages web pages with instances of classes that represent the html tags and their properties, and as they are supposed to make an html page, they have children in a slot called children. so I was thinking how much a user's session will cost the server if I take this approach.   • Connection hangs after time of inactivity

    In my application, Spring manages connection pool for database access. Hibernate uses these connections for its queries. At first glance, I have no problems with the pool: it works correctly with concurrent clients and a pool with only one connection. I can execute a lot of queries, so I think that I (or Spring) don't leave open connections. My problem appears after some time of inactivity (sometimes 30 minutes, sometimes more than 2 hours). Then, when Hibernate does some search, it lasts too much. IMHO, it seems like connection pool returns an invalid/closed connection, and when Hibernate realizes that, ask another connection to the pool. Database detects the connection is lost, but pool (dbcp or c3p0) not. So, it tries to query the database with no success. What is still strange for me is that timeout period is very variable. Maybe the rule is specially strange or firewall doesn't work correctly. Anyway, I have no access to that machine and I can only wait for an explanation. :(

  • Windows 7 DVD doesn't boot up, neither does USB. :'(

    My problem is that i'm not able to install windows 7. Been trying to install this since past 1 week. The methods i've tried are: I have a windows 7 bootable DVD which doesnt boot up. (I've set BIOS to boot from DVD ROM first but it just won't boot from the DVD). Tried to install Windows 7 from the same DVD to a friend's PC and it worked. So the DVD has no issues. I tried to run 'Setup.exe' from within the DVD. The two options pop-up 'Check compatibility' and 'Install now'. On clicking install now, after sometime, an error is encountered with the message 'Windows was unable to create a required installation folder' error code:0x8007000D. I am running Windows XP Professional and there's only one user on the PC which is the Admin, so i do not know why is the setup not getting permissions. I've also uninstalled my antivirus, CD burning software, disabled firewall and disconnected all other devices, but its still the same. I tried to install it from a USB device by making it bootable but that too doesnt work. (Yes the mobo supports booting from the USB). The problem is that XP does not recognize a 'USB' device on boot. Rather it shows this USB stick as a removable 'Hard Drive'. Furthermore, i changed the order of Hard Drive boot to boot from this removable Hard Drive first, it still boots my existing OS. Is there anything else that can be done? Any help would be greatly appreciated. :) Please ask if any other information is required, this post is becomimg increasingly long to add any other details. PS: I want to dual boot windows 7 with my existing XP, but that would be after i manage to run the windows 7 setup in the first place. PPS: Please bare with any 'not-so-technical' terms, i am a beginner with this. Again, thank you for taking the time and trying to help, really appreciate it. :)

In the database i have 2 tables: Person and Address. The Person table has a many-to-one relationship with Address.     I am using ASP.NET Callbacks (that implements the ICallbackEventHandler) and in the handler, I try to set a value of the text box: txtName.text = "Test"; but this value is not set. Is this a limitation with callback? It appears I cannot do much in a callback handler other than sending back a string to the client side (ofcourse I can access the Session etc)

  • Installing Ubuntu guest crashes Hyper-V host

    I have a weird problem that I don't even know where to begin diagnosing. Trying to install Ubuntu to a VM locks up the host system! My setup is: Dell R715 server, dual 16 core AMD opteron processors, 96GB RAM Dell MD3600f SAN Server 2008 R2 Datacenter System Center VMM 2012 There are 5 windows virtual machines running that have had no problems. This is the first linux VM I've tried to create. I setup a VM through virtual machine manager, set the CD drive to a Ubuntu 12.04 server x64 iso, and started it up. It boots up the normal ubuntu install menu, but the second I hit enter on "Install Ubuntu Server", I get disconnected. The HOST machine stops responding to pings. So do all virtual machines on it. It locks up entirely - keyboard on the host won't work, mouse won't move, numlock light won't change. There's no blue screen - the host is sitting at the login screen completely unresponsive. I can't find any relevant logs in event viewer after rebooting. What could cause the host machine to freeze like that? It's not a one time occurrence - it happens every time at the exact same point. Thank god this server isn't in production yet!

  • How significant are JPA lazy loading performance benefits?

    I understand that this is highly specific to the concrete application, but I'm just wondering what's the general opinion, or at least some personal experiences on the issue. I have an aversion towards the 'open session in view' pattern, so to avoid it, I'm thinking about simply fetching everything small eagerly, and using queries in the service layer to fetch larger stuff. Has anyone used this and regretted it? And is there maybe some elegant solution to lazy loading in the view layer that I'm not aware of?

  • Ubuntu Natty 11.04, Turning the wireless switch off; switches it off permanently!

The error is not being thrown in my code, it happens during serialization. I called the method on the proxy, I have checked the arguments and they are OK. I have also logged the SOAP request and response, and they both look OK as well. I am really at a loss here. Any ideas?   • How do I keep a table in Sync across 4 db's to be used in SQL Replication Filtering?

    I have a Win Form, Data Entry, application that uses 4 seperate Data Bases. This is an occasionally connected app that uses Merge Replication (SQL 2005) to stay in Sync. This is working just fine. The next hurdle I am trying to tackle is adding Filters to my Publications. Right now we are replicating 70mbs, compressed, to each of our 150 subscribers when, truthfully, they only need a tiny fraction of that. Using Filters I am able to accomplish this(see code below) but I had to make a mapping table in order to do so. This mapping table consists of 3 columns. A PrimaryID(Guid), WorkerName(varchar), and ClientID(int). The problem is I need this table present in all FOUR Databases in order to use it for the filter since, to my knowledge, views or cross-db query's are not allowed in a Filter Statement. What are my options? Seems like I would set it up to be maintained in 1 Database and then use Triggers to keep it updated in the other 3 Databases. In order to be a part of the Filter I have to include that table in the Replication Set so how do I flag it appropriately. Is there a better way, altogether?     I'm attempting to map an entity hierarchy using NHibernate almost all of which have events. When attempting to build a session factory however, I get error messages similar to the following: Core.Domain.Entities.Delivery: method remove_Scheduled should be virtual Delivery is an entity in my domain model with an event called Scheduled. Since events cannot be declared virtual I'm at a loss as to how to proceed here. Why would NHibernate need events to be virtual?

I have read varied reports of this not working in Rails 2.2.2 but nothing for 2.3.5, anyone got any ideas? Thanks, Danny
