    - by Greg
Hi, BACKGROUND: I am working on a .NET WinForms application now (C#) with an ADO.net database for the data layer. QUESTION: How an I develop this now such that it would be easy to migrate to a model where the data layer is abstracted via a HTTP web-service or REST interface? For example would just use of a standard C# interface with a Factory to obtain a concrete implementation of the interface where this uses ADO.net be the best? thanks

  • Centering a percent-based div

    - by Sarfraz
Hello, Recently, a client asked that his site be percent-based rather than pixel-based. The percent was to be set to 80%. As you guys know, it is very easy to center the container if it is pixel-based but how do you center a percent-based main container? #container { width:80%; margin:0px auto; } That does not center the container :(

  • want a good address importer

    - by Sam
Hey Can anybody suggest me a good free open source address importer which I can use in my project? Good in the sense that, it should be easy to use and integrate (using Codeigniter framework), and also lightweight. After a long searching i’ve got one: OpenInviter. But, I don’t know how efficient it is.

Hi I am looking for a general way to be able to search for a unique CALayer in a hierarchy without having to remember where the layer is in a hierarchy (and use the sublayer: and superlayer: methods). I know this is possible with UIViews (which makes flipping views easy) but is it possible for CALayer? thank you in advance for your help Peyman

  • Where do I find a list of changes and bug fixes for .Net classes from 3.5 -> 4.0?

    - by Nathan Ridley
I'm having trouble finding a list of the changes and bug fixes that have been made in the .Net framework for .Net 4.0. They're not easy to find, but surely they exist somewhere? Specifically I want to find out what changes and updates have been made for System.Net.HttpWebRequest and System.Net.CookieContainer, as both are quite bugridden in 3.5 and I want to evaluate whether I should write my code for .Net 4.0 or if I should create some custom classes to work around their issues.

  • How to return id of a submitted form using Prototype?

    - by pstinnett
I have a page that has several ajax submission forms. Each form has a dynamic id assigned to it when it's written to the page. Does anyone know if there is an easy way to return the id of the form that is being submitted? I'm basically looking to click "submit" and alert the id of the submitted form. From there I can use it in the ajax onSuccess function.

  • Easiest way to implement RSS reader on Google Android?

    - by user291888
Hi guys, This is my first time on stack overflow, so I apologize if this question has been asked before, but is there an easy way to implement an RSS reader on the Google Android (API 1.5)? I'm searched far and wide with the code sources I know of, and I've only found one implementation which takes 6 different classes and doesn't seem to compile on the current Android SDK's. If I end up having to write my own, I'll be sure to post it here later on. Thanks a lot.

  • Visualizing rst diffs with rst2pdf

    - by Karol
Is there an easy way to visualize the differences between rst files using rst2pdf? I know I could use rst2latex instead and then latexdiff to generate PDF files (and that is the effect I am after), but I would like to have the same style in the original and diff files.

  • Parametrized get request in Ruby?

    - by Horace Loeb
How do I make an HTTP GET request with parameters in Ruby? It's easy to do when you're POSTing: require 'net/http' require 'uri' HTTP.post_form URI.parse('http://www.example.com/search.cgi'), { "q" => "ruby", "max" => "50" } But I see now way of passing GET parameters as a hash using net/http.

  • how to match all group and subgroup in pcre

a ip or other string, like "11.22.33.44" or "aa.bb.cc.dd". basically, I think it is very easy, (([\d\w]+)+\.)+[\d\w]+ but the problem is which group these submatches are in. not like ip, some string is consist of lots of words+separate in pcre, I don't know how to extract it all words -- "aa bb cc dd ..."

I would like to use a ANS 1994 compatible version (if reasonable, but sticking to the standard might be good) small and compact implementation, I don't want a full OS. Windows easy to use, I am new to Forth ;-) Can anybody recommend any particular implementation?

  • urllib2 in Python 2.6.4: Any way to override windows hosts file?

    - by mikez302
I am using the urllib2 module in Python 2.6.4, running in Windows XP, to access a URL. I am making a post request, that does not involve cookies or https or anything too complicated. The domain is redirected in my C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts file. However, I would like the request from urllib2 to go to the "real" domain and ignore the entry in the hosts file. Is there any easy and practical way to do this?

  • How to automatically add user account *and* password with a Bash script

    - by ModernCarpentry
I need to have the ability to create user accounts on my Linux ( Fedora 10 ) and automatically assign a password via a bash script ( or otherwise, if need be ). It's easy to create the user via Bash eg: [whoever@server ]# /usr/sbin/useradd newuser But is it possible to assign a password in Bash, something functionally similar to this (but automated): [whoever@server ]# passwd newuser Changing password for user testpass. New UNIX password: Retype new UNIX password: passwd: all authentication tokens updated successfully. [whoever@server ]#
