• IIS 6.0 - ASP Error 0126 Include file not found

  Hello, I have a Win Sever 2003 running IIS 6.0 which has only my main website on it and now I am trying to setup a test website which currently is an exact duplicate of the main site. When accessing my main site everything works fine, and has done for a long time. If I access the test site (through 'test.' subdomain) I get this error: Active Server Pages error 'ASP 0126' Include file not found /html/shop/asp/admin/inc/incWeeklySpecialswide3.asp, line 71 The include file '/html/asp/quickfindwithSuburbs31.asp' was not found. The file actually exists, and the paths are correct. I have enabled Parent Paths, replaced the include file path to the full path (http://foo.com/html/asp -etc.), removing the ' / ' at the start of the path and changing the code from ' include ' to ' virtual '. • Disappearing Inlineshapes

  I frequently edit files that have numerous inlineshapes, one per paragraph. One of the edits I make is to eliminate "double" paragraph marks either using Search and Replace or a simple macro that performs the same operation (e.g., search for "^p^p" and replace with "^p"). This operation works fine in Word 97-2003 documents (.doc), but when I try it on .docx documents, I lose all of the inlineshapes. The .docx files seem to ignore the inlineshape, therefore seeing the paragraphs containing them as "empty". Search and Replace sees "^p^p", replaces it with "^p", and the graphic goes away. Any thoughts on how to work around this?

I want check if a fileis copied right in shared folder Andre Krijen says me the best way is to create a MD5Hash of original file. When the file is copied, verify the MD5Hash file of the copied one with the original one. I have big pdf files. apply md5 hash about big file, any performance problem ?? • A code using SharePoint classes doesn't run on systems not having SharePoint installed

  I have a window application which uses SP classes to create a site. I works fine on a system having Windows Server 2003 R2 with sharepoint installed. But it doesn't work on a system having XP installed and SharePoint not installed. The fact is that both of these systems are on a intranet. So I assumed that the NON-SP system would be able to run the code and create a site on the system having SP installed if all the required parameters (like serverLocation, domain, username, password) are provided. I did copied the DLLs to these NON-SP system and referenced them to build the project: Microsoft.SharePoint.dll microsoft.sharepoint.portal.dll Microsoft.SharePoint.Publishing.dll But this too didn't worked. What am I missing? Is my assumption wrong?

• SQL: ATER COLUMN to shorter CHAR(n) type

  I'm working with MS SQL SERVER 2003. I want to change a column in one of my tables to have fewer characters in the entries. This is identical to this question: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2281336/altering-a-table-column-to-accept-more-characters except for the fact that I want fewer characters instead of more. I have a column in one of my tables that holds nine-digit entries. A developer previously working on the table mistakenly set the column to hold ten-digit entries. I need to change the type from CHAR(10) to CHAR(9). Following the instructions from the discussion linked above, I wrote the statement ALTER TABLE [MY_TABLE] ALTER COLUMN [MY_COLUMN] CHAR(9); This returns the error message "String or binary data would be truncated". I see that my nine-digit strings have a space appended to make them ten digits. How do I tell SQL Server to discard the extra space and convert my column to a CHAR(9) type?

• I Clean Solution'd my Winform App and now it's broken...

  I have a Winform App that uses a 3rd Party Library of Controls, DevExpress. I also created a bunch of Controls myself, extending those controls. Everything has been working fine when all of a sudden I opened VS today and on the Design Page all my extended controls were missing. I then tried rebuilding to no avail. Then I tried Cleaning and Rebuilding and made it even worse. Now I have tons(520) of erros stating things like -- Error 179 The name 'datBirthDate' does not exist in the current context D:\Documents\Visual Studio 2008\Projects\MatrixReloaded\MatrixReloaded\Controls\Member\ucGeneral.cs 339 17 MatrixReloaded also if I try to open a form or user control in Design Mode I first get this -- could not find type, "MyType" please make sure that the assembly that contains this type is referenced and then, if I click Ignore and Continue I get this for all Forms and Contros when I try and look at them in Design Mode -- Exception of type System.OutOfMemoryException was thrown Help!?!? When I googled I came across mostly references to VS 2003...I am on 2008 sp1.

• How to search SVN repository for a file when I'm not sure where I put it?

  Co-worker is sure he checked in a file: foo_oustanding.dpr but isn't sure when/where (we have lots of "tools" and "utility" ancillary branches, lots of project branches, etc.. I need a way to search the entire repository for this file. I could check the whole source tree out to my HD, but that would take several hours. Is there a faster way? I tried the Repo Browser (Tortoise) and it didn't seem to have a search. I also thought about dumping the log, from the beginning of time. But that seemed silly. I have, at my disposal: Tortoise SVN 1.6 Subversion 1.5.6 running on Apache It runs on a Windows 2003 server. Remote Desktop access to the server, with admin rights. Thanks for any ideas.

• .Net C#: support differnt Office versions

  We created an application that uses Office 2007 (Excel 2007) to read in data from an Excel worksheet. However. I noticed that when I want to deploy the application on a system with Office 2003 installed, it crashes because other PIA's (and other dll's) need to be referenced for this version of office. Do I need to compile different versions of my application to be able to support different versions of Office or is there a more ellegant solution for this problem? I use Visual Studio 2010 (C#) and the .Net 4.0 platform. Many thanks Chris

• what database should i choose ?

  I use winforms to develop a desktop application, and right now I plan to use SQL server express, but the problem is, if i use sql server express, then the installation is much trouble, i need to install sql server first, and install my own applicaiton. Then I tried to use access 2003 as my database, then I only need to copy the mdb file with my application. But the access 's function is not that strong, the text length is limited to 255 byte. Is there any other database solution, which is easy to integrate to my application, and easy to install after i develop my application ? Many many desktop application have their own database, and easy to install and easy to use, what database do they use ?

• Why does the VBA Editor open on its own sometimes?

  I've created a small script in Outlook 2003 VBA that watches for new appointments, and sets them to tentative and no reminder as I create them. However, I now find that seemingly at random, the VBA editor will open itself. It doesn't happen when I actually use the new script, but it did happen this morning when I un-hibernated my laptop, for example. The editor doesn't pop up any runtime errors or highlight any lines in the script, it's just there as if I had pressed Alt-F11 to launch it. Sometimes I close other apps and see that it's been sitting back there for a while. This behavior has only been occurring since I created this new script. Any ideas why this would occur? Thanks!

• Frameworks And 'traditional' coding

  Hello Sorry if this too open ended for this forum, but here goes. I mostly use languages such as PHP and Javascript without frameworks (e.g Jquery, Drupal, CakePHP). The only real exception to this for me, is Wordpress when 'traditional' coding is slower for building information sites. I've dabbled with several frameworks over the past year and despite everyone else's (seemingly) good experiences with them, I seem to of hit a roadblock. My basic problem is that for the amount of time invested in effectively relearning a language, I don't get a lot in return. Jqeury as an example. There is really very little in that, that I couldn't accomplish easily with a few getElement.. commands. So my question is, what advantages do frameworks offer over previous coding styles?   Our centralized IT department has suggested two primary ad hoc query tools for our general user base of approximately 200 staff members: Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio 2008 (SSMS) Microsoft Access 2003 Environment The backend database is a read-only Microsoft SQL Server 2005 database. The schema is 400+ tables; allowing access to the raw data for our general staff would be a disaster. We will be building an "abstraction layer" over the raw data for our general staff to run ad hoc queries against. The abstraction layer will most likely contain a number of views. A number of users have basic knowledge in Microsoft Access; none have used SSMS. Which of the above tools (or alternative) would be best for a decidedly non-techie user base of approximately 200 people? What are the pros and cons of each? Also, the IT department has suggested teaching people T-SQL so they may use SSMS. Is this reasonable?

• Subversion pre-commit hook to clean XML from WebDAV autocommit client

  I know that it isn't normally safe to modify a commit from a pre-commit hook in Subversion because SVN clients will not see the version that has been committed, and will cache the wrong thing, but I'd like to clean the code from a versioning-naïve WebDAV client that won't keep a local cached copy. The idea is that when I look at the repository with an SVN client, the diffs are clean. The client, by the way is MS Word, using 2003 XML format files. We're already using this format in a WebDAV system, but we'd like to add a versioning capability for expert users. Everywhere I look for documentation on how to modify the code in a pre-commit hook, I get the answer "Don't do this", not the answer "Here's how to do this, but it's reccomeded you don't", so I can't even easily try it to see if it's going to cause me problems.

• What online brokers offer APIs?

  So I'm getting really sick of E*TRADE and, being a developer, would love to find an online broker that offers an API. It would be great to be able to write my own trading tools, and maybe even modify existing ones. Based on my research so far, I've only found one option. Interactive Brokers offers a multi-language API (Java/C++/ActiveX/DDE) and has some fairly decent commission rates to boot. I want to make sure there aren't any other options out there I should be considering. Any ideas? Update: Based on answers so far, here's a quick list... • PHP exec() and system() functions always return false in IIS

  Hi there, I'm trying to use the PHP exec() or system() (or any other similar function) to run a batch file, but I can't seem to get these to return anything. The simplest example I've seen is this, which outputs nothing: <?php echo system('dir'); ?> The script is running on a windows XP machine on IIS with PHP installed and I've also tried it on my shared hosting account running windows 2003 server/IIS. Can anyone suggest what I need to do to get this working, or provide any commands I can use for troubleshooting? Cheers, Tom

I call web service, everything is ok. Then I revoke this certificate in certification authority. Certificate is in Revoked certificate. I call web service with this certificate, but web service verify this certificate as good, but this certificate is between revoked. I don't know why? Anybody help me please? I use this method on verify certificate. X509Certificate2.Verify Method I don't get any exception, certificate is between revoked, but web service verify this certificate as good.

• Choosing connectionstring in VB.NET application at startup

  I have a VB.NET application with a connection to an SQL Server 2003. On the server there are two databases, MyDatabase and MyDatabase_Test. What I would like to do is to show a dialog when the program starts that let's the user choose which database to use. My idea is to create a new form as the starup form that sets this property and then launches the main form. Currently the connectionstring is specified in the application config file. Best would be if I can specify two different connection strings in that file to choose from, but for now it is also acceptable with other solutions like hardcoding the two connectionstrings into the startup form.

• SQL Server Agent 2005 job runs but no output

  Essentially I have a job which runs in BIDS and as as a stand lone package and while it runs under the SQL Server Agent it doesn't complete properly (no error messages though). The job steps are: 1) Delete all rows from table; 2) Use For each loop to fill up table from Excel spreasheets; 3) Clean up table. I've tried this [MS page][1] (steps 1 & 2), didn't see any need to start changing from Server side security. Also SQLServerCentral.com for [this page][2], no resolution. How can I get error logging or a fix? Note I've reposted this from Server Fault as it's one of those questions that's not pure admin or programming. I have logged in as the proxy account I'm running this under, and the job runs stand alone but complains that the Excel tables are empty?

I'm developing a social networking site that will allow users to send an email to an email address that is for posting. This is the same thing Blogger does. This allows me to take a picture with my phone and send it to [email protected] and have it posted to my profile. The site is running IIS6 and I have full access to the server. Emails are currently being processed using the SMTP service that comes with Windows 2003 Server, but I can switch to another system without any issues. I am assuming I would have to somehow have the incoming emails either go into a folder that my application is watching or cause incoming emails to trigger a script. can anyone point me in the right direction?

• Modern Web Development + General question

  I have been given a nasty wake up a while ago when I discovered that my 10 years of experience was really equivalent of about 4 (got trapped in a big company doing the same thing over and over without realizing it) and is now paying a huge price. Question 1: I did servlets/JSP programming back in the day (2001-2003). Since then there have been libraries like GWT, YUI, etc. Is JSP still the preferred way of building web apps using Java? Question 2: Because I enjoyed what I was doing and needed to pay the bills, I didn't realize that the ground below me has shifted. How do avoid this in the future? My years of C system programming doesn't seem to matter a lot now to the young guys who talk about design patterns.
