• Problem adding Contact with new API

  Hello, I am trying to add a new contact to my contact list using the new ContactContract API via my application. There is also no contact with that information on my phone already. Does anyone have any insight into what I might be doing wrong?

• Setting up an efficient and effective development process

  I am in the midst of setting up the development environment (PHP/MySQL) for my start-up. We use three sets of servers: LIVE - the servers which provide the actual application TEST - providing a testing version before it is actually released DEV - the development servers The development servers run SVN with each developer checking out their local copy. At the end of each day completed fixes are checked in and then we use Hudson to automate our build process and then transfer it over to TEST. We then check the application still functions correctly using a tester and then if everything is fine move it to LIVE. I am happy with this process but I do have two questions: How would you recommend we do local testing - as each developer adds new pages or changes functionality I want them to be able to test what they are doing. Would you just setup local Apache and a local database and have them test locally on their own machine? How would you recommend dealing with data layer changes? Is there anything else you would recommend doing to really make our development process as easy and efficient as possible? Thanks in advance

• .NET Reference "Copy Local" True / False Being Set Based on Contents of GAC

  We had a very interesting problem with a Win Forms project. It's been resolved. We know what happened, but we want to understand why it happened. This may help other people out in the future who have a similar problem. The WinForms project failed on 2 of our client's PCs. The error was an obscure kernel.dll error. The project ran fine on 3 other PCs. We found that a .DLL (log4net.dll - a very popular open-source logging library) was missing from our release folder. It was previously in our release folder. Why was it missing in this latest release? It was missing because I must have installed a program on my Dev box that used log4net.dll and it was added to the Global Assembly Cache. When I checked the solution's references for log4net.dll, they were changed to "copy local=FALSE". They must have changed automatically because log4net.dll was present in my GAC. Here's where my question starts: Why did my reference for log4net.dll get changed from COPY LOCAL = TRUE to COPY LOCAL = FALSE? I suspect it's because it was added to my GAC by another program. How can we prevent this from happening again? As it stands now, if I install a piece of software that uses a common library and it adds it to my GAC, then my SLNs that reference that DLL will change from Copy Local TRUE to FALSE.

• How to manage Javascript modules in django templates?

  Lets say we want a library of javascript-based pieces of functionality (I'm thinking jquery): For example: an ajax dialog a date picker a form validator a sliding menu bar an accordian thingy There are four pieces of code for each: some Python, CSS, JS, & HTML. What is the best way to arrange all these pieces so that: each javascript 'module' can be neatly reused by different views the four bits of code that make up the completed function stay together the css/js/html parts appear in their correct places in the response common dependencies between modules are not repeated (eg: a javascript file in common) x-------------- It would be nice if, or is there some way to ensure that, when called from a templatetag, the templates respected the {% block %} directives. Thus one could create a single template with a block each for CSS, HTML, and JS, in a single file. Invoke that via a templatetag which is called from the template of whichever view wants it. That make any sense. Can that be done some way already? My templatetag templates seem to ignore the {% block %} directives. x-------------- There's some very relevant gasbagging about putting such media in forms here http://docs.djangoproject.com/en/dev/topics/forms/media/ which probably apply to the form validator and date picker examples.

  Hi ! I'm currently using NSMutableArrays in my developments to store some data taken from an HTTP Servlet. Everything is fine since now I have to sort what is in my array. This is what I do : NSMutableArray *array = [[NSMutableArray arrayWithObjects:nil] retain]; [array addObject:[NSArray arrayWithObjects: "Label 1", 1, nil]]; [array addObject:[NSArray arrayWithObjects: "Label 2", 4, nil]]; [array addObject:[NSArray arrayWithObjects: "Label 3", 2, nil]]; [array addObject:[NSArray arrayWithObjects: "Label 4", 6, nil]]; [array addObject:[NSArray arrayWithObjects: "Label 5", 0, nil]]; First column contain a Label and 2nd one is a score I want the array to be sorted descending. Is the way I am storing my data a good one ? Is there a better way to do this than using NSMutableArrays in NSMutableArray ? I'm new to iPhone dev, I've seen some code about sorting but didn't feel good with that. Thanks in advance for your answers !

  So, if you look back at my previous question about Exchange Autodiscover, you'll see that the easiet way to get the autodiscover URL is to send a non-secure, non-authenticated GET request to the server, ala: http://autodiscover.exchangeserver.org/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml The server will respond with a 302 redirect with the correct url in the Location header. I'm trying out something really simple at first with a Chrome extension, where I have: if (req.readyState==4 && req.status==302) { return req.getResponseHeader("Location"); } With another ajax call set up with the full XML Post and the user credentials, But instead Chrome hangs at this point, and a look at the developer panel shows that it is not returning back the response but instead is acting like no response was given, meanwhile showing a Uncaught Error: NETWORK_ERR: XMLHttpRequest Exception 101 in the error log. The way I see it, refering to the exact response status is about the same as "catching" it, but I'm not sure if the problem is with Chrome/WebKit or if this is how XHR requests always handle redirects. I'm not sure how to catch this so that I can get still get the headers from the response. Or would it be possible to set up a secondary XHR such that when it gets the 302, it sends a totally different request? Quick Update I just changed it so that it doesn't check the response code: if (req.readyState==4) { return req.getResponseHeader("Location"); } and instead when I alert out the value it's null. and there is still the same error and no response in the dev console. SO it seems like it either doesn't track 302 responses as responses, or something happens after that wipes that response out?

• Deployed Qt5 Application Doesn't Print or Show Print Dialog

  I'm experiencing Qt4 to Qt5 troubles. In my application when the user clicks the print button two things should happen, one is that a PDF gets written to disk (which still works fine in the new version, so I know that some of the printing functions are working properly) and the other is that a QPrintDialog should exec() and then send to a connected printer. I see the dialog when I launch from my development machine. The application launches on the deployed machine, but the QPrintDialog never shows and the document never prints. I am including print support. QT += core gui network webkitwidgets widgets printsupport I have been using Process Explorer to see what DLLs the application uses on my development machine, and I believe that everything is present.   We're running ASP.Net 2.0 on our corporate web site, and I'd like to get it up to ASP.Net 3.5 as smoothly as possible. The project/solution architecture in VS 2005 is an ASP.Net 2.0 web project and an .Net 2.0 data access layer project which is used by the site code. Upon opening the projects in a new VS 2008 solution they seemed to be converted to .Net 3.5 with a minimum of fuss - they built correctly out of the box, deployed successfully, and seem to work just fine, which is exactly as I would expect given that .Net 2.0 and 3.5 share a common runtime. The major difference after the conversion is that the web.config file's referenced dlls are now the 3.5 versions. What I would like to do is to update the site piecemeal; as I make modifications to a given page send the 3.5 verson of that page over to our webserver and not update the whole site at once. In testing on our dev box this approach seems to be working fine - the site code is interacting with the .Net 3.5 data access layer without difficulty, a handful of pages are running 3.5 page-behind code (by this I mean that they're running assemblies built in VS 2008 - the site is using single-page assemblies for code behind), the 3.5 web.config is in place, and the bulk of the site is running code-behind assemblies built in VS2005. Everything looks great. Which makes me worried that I'm missing something. Is this architecture workable, or is there a problem lying is wait for m that I haven't considered?

• How to configure properly IntelliJ IDEA for deployment of JBoss Seam project?

  I would like to use IntelliJ IDEA for development of JBoss Seam project. seam-gen is creating the project stub, however the stub is not complete. In particular it is not clear how to deploy such project. First of all I had to define manually web project facelet and add libraries to its deployment definition. The other problem was persistence.xml file. In the Seam generated project it does not exists, since Ant is using one of the persistence-dev.xml, persistence-prod.xml, persistence-test.xml files, changing its name, depending on deployment type (which is ok). Obviously I can create persistence.xml by hand, but it goes againts Seam way of development. Finally I decided to use directly ant, which is not partucularly comfortable. All these tweaks made me think that I am doing something wrong from the IntelliJ IDEA point of view. What is the efficient way of configuring IntelliJ for usage with JBoss Seam (deployment, in particular)? I am using JBoss Seam 2.1.1, Intellij 8.1.4, JBoss 4.3.3

• Best practice: git, github, lighthouse and 2 developers

  I'm setting up a new project and plan on using git and github for sourcecontroll and hosting of repo and lighthouse for bugtracking. I've been working with git for some while now, but only been using it for more of a backup solution than collaborate coding solution. Also, I've noticed that in github you can setup a servicehook to lighthouse so that whenever you push to github it notifies lighthouse of the changes. This uses a token for user-authentication and has the ability to change tickets to resolved etc. However, this token I believe functions that way so that whenever a user pushes to the repo (dosn't matter who), it's the owner of the repo that "updates" to lighthouse. This is a problem. So, I believe it is necessary with 2 separate repos at github (one for each dev), and I'm wondering about the workflow that should be used. Any1 care to shred any light on this matter? Like when to pull and push (and where), and how to make the two github repos in sync or something like that? Or another solution to the problem altogether.

  Hi, I am using inline editing using Jeditable and datepicker. I have a column in my table which displays Date as a hyperlink. When I click on this it shows me the datepicker. And when a particular date is selected its updated in the backend and the cell now is updated with the changed value. However, am having problem with onblur event while changing month or years. This event gets triggered when I click on "Prev" or "Next" buttons on the datepicker control. This causes an exception when the date is selected. This works fine as long as the date selected is in the current month. I tried all possible solutions listed here: stackoverflow.com/questions/2007205/jeditable-datepicker-causing-blur-when-changing-month If settimeout the control does not change back to a normal hyperlink on closing the datepicker or on a true onblur event.   So I'll be graduating next year (hopefully) and lately I started thinking about getting a PhD in computer science (to be more precise I was thinking about something related to "distributed systems", don't have any specific topics yet in mind), but is it really worth it? A PhD course here lasts 4 years and is free IF you're doing the "normal one" (which means you have class from monday to friday) OR you have to pay if you want to study on the weekends. So I've been thinking about getting a normal full time job (as a JEE programmer) and doing my PhD during the weekends OR doing the normal PhD course (mon-fri) and getting a part time job as a software dev (the main reason I want a job is simple - I need to eat). That would give me practical working experience and theoretical knowledge+a PhD, but it would also mean working 7days a week from 9 to 5 for 4 years straight (sounds like an overkill). Is it, job wise, really worth getting a PhD? As an employer do you prefer people with PhDs or MScs? This might be kinda important - I'm not from the US or western europe, how are PhDs from other countries (I am graduating one of the best, if not the best, school in my country but it's still a central european country...) seen? Are they useless? I won't hide it - after graduation I am thinking about moving abroad.

Ok, I have to admit I'm a little lost here. I am fairly comfortable with Cocoa, but am having trouble picking up the bit of javascript needed to solve this problem. I am trying to send a request to Google for a reverse geo code. I have looked over the Google documentation I have viewed here: http://code.google.com/apis/maps/documentation/index.html http://code.google.com/apis/maps/documentation/geocoding/ Even after a rough reading, I am missing a basic concept: How do I talk to google? In some examples, they show a url being sent to google (which seems easy enough), but in others they show javascript. It seems for reverse geocoding, the request might be be harder than sending the url with some parameters (but I hope I am wrong). Can someone point me to the correct way to make a request? (In objective-C, so I can wrap my head around it)

• PHP Mystery Theatre - HTML Element doesn't display when served with php5, restart server with php4 a

  Get this...I start the server in php5 and a specific HTML element ('a' element with a background image) is nowhere to be seen, I reboot the server in php4 and the HTML element is displaying properly. I boot back and forth between php5 and php4 with absolute consistent results, not displaying in php5 and displaying in php4. The thing that blows my mind is that: the HTML is consistent between boots of php5/4, so both scenarios have the necessary HTML elements the CSS is consistent between boots of php5/4, so both scenarios have the necessary CSS definitions there is an identically styled sibling element, with different class name that displays properly the problem is reproducible between browsers, between platforms. I've tested it on every possible config, Mac/Windows, IE6,7,8, FireFox, Safari etc... When the server is booted in php5 there is one HTML element that just doesn't display/render. A stab in the dark, I turned on PHP error reporting in php5 (to see if there would be any clues there) and low and behold the HTML element is now rendering in php5. I turn off PHP error reporting, and restart php5 and the HTML element is still rendering in php5, and the problem has been fixed...and I can't get the problem to reproduce. This is why my curiosity has brought me here. I just spent about four hours scratching my head trying to figure out how this could be. And now, I ask any php web dev gurus out there...what the heck was this all about?

• Paperclip and Amazon S3 Issue

  Hey everyone, I have a rails app running on Heroku. I am using paperclip for some simple image uploads for user avatars and some other things, I have S3 set as my backend and everything seems to be working fine except when trying to push to S3 I get the following error: The AWS Access Key Id you provided does not exist in our records. Thinking I mis-pasted my access key and secret key, I tried again, still no luck. Thinking maybe it was just a buggy key I deactivated it and generated a new one. Still no luck. Now for both keys I have used the S3 browser app on OS X and have been able to connect to each and view my current buckets and add/delete buckets. Is there something I should be looking out for? • Crawler do not create custom crawled properties

  These days i have faced with very strange problem. I have development environment with MOSS 2007 SP 2 and WS 2008, i have search configured and everything works great. I have started to configuring staging environment (MOSS 2007 SP2 with June CU) and create new farm and new SSP. I have deployed my changes with package (wsp) and manually create site collections, sub webs, pages and so on. When fill crawl finishes, i see in Crawl log that all my pages have been successfully crawled and when i use some test tools to query search, my pages have been found. In crawl log there is few errors like http://mysite/sites/de/pages "The crawler could not communicate with the server. Check that the server is available and that the firewall access is configured correctly..", but all pages in this Page library were indexed. The problem is that i use custom managed properties (mapped to custom crawled properties) in search queries, but crawler didn't create crawled properties for all my new site columns. For example for site column IsAccent the crawler didn't create cralwed property ows_isAccesnt. I'm sure that i have created pages for specific content type and all my crawl categories have checked "Automatically discover new properties when a crawl takes place ". In site settings - Searchable columns i haven't got any column selected as Nocrowl. I tried to export my managed and crawled properties from dev environment to stage evironment but all my managed properties were empty, after that i recreated SSP...the result was the same... I checked specific page with tools like Sharepoint Manager 2007 and U2U Caml Query Builder 2007 that content type is correct, and i can see values of my custom site collumns.... Using U2U Caml Query Builder 2007 agains some Page library in Result tab i can see ows_IsAccent (my site collumn is IsAccent) and others site columns, but i can't find them in Crawled properties. Any idias?

  I'm trying to make Cakephp paginate take advantage of the SQL_CALC_FOUND_ROWS feature in mysql to return a count of total rows while using LIMIT. It looks like I'm getting the sessionid and logging in just fine, but when trying to create a "page" node, I get "Access denied". Under Services - Settings I have "Key Authentication", "Use keys" is unchecked, and "Use sessid" is checked. • Virtual Earth (Bing) Pin "moves" when zoom level changes

  Hi guys, Created a Virtual Earth (Bing) map to show a simple pin at a particular point. Everything works right now - the pin shows up, the title and description pop up on hover. The map is initially fully zoomed into the pin, but the STRANGE problem is that when I zoom out it moves slightly lower on the map. So if I started with the pin pointing somewhere in Toronto, if I zoom out enough the pin ends up i the middle of Lake Ontario! If I pan the map, the pin correctly stays in its proper location. When I zoom back in, it moves slightly up until it's back to its original correct position! I've looked around for a solution for a while, but I can't understand it at all. Please help!!   Hi All, I want to perform a simple slide motion on an HTML element. JQuery is already available on the site in question so the next logical step for me was to look at their documentation. JQuery - Slide down When I check out their demo however, it doesn't seem to be functioning. In firebug they have an error; missing ) after argument list wyciwyg://0/http://docs.jquery.com/UI/Effects/Slide Line 18 Whilst the error seems simple, I can't work out how to correct it (On thier site by editing the JS).   We are facing random spikes in high throughput transaction processing system using sockets for IPC. Below is the setup used for the run: The client opens and closes new connection for every transaction, and there are 4 exchanges between the server and the client. We have disabled the TIME_WAIT, by setting the socket linger (SO_LINGER) option via getsockopt as we thought that the spikes were caused due to the sockets waiting in TIME_WAIT. There is no processing done for the transaction. Only messages are passed. OS used Centos 5.4 The average round trip time is around 3 milli seconds, but some times the round trip time ranges from 100 milli seconds to couple of seconds. Steps used for Execution and Measurement and output Starting the server $ python sockServerLinger.py /dev/null & Starting the client to post 1 million transactions to the server. • Validation using JAXB and Stax to marshal XML document

  I have created an XML schema (foo.xsd) and used xjc to create my binding classes for JAXB. Let's say the root element is "collection" and I am writing N "document" objects, which are complex types. Because I plan to write out large XML files, I am using Stax to write out the "collection" root element, and JAXB to marshal document subtrees using Marshaller.marshal(JAXBElement, XMLEventWriter). This is the approach recommended by jaxb's unofficial user's guide: https://jaxb.dev.java.net/guide/Different_ways_of_marshalling.html#Marshalling_into_a_subtree My question is, how can I validate the XML while it's being marshalled? If I bind a schema to the JAXB marshaller (using Marshaller.setSchema()), I get validation errors because I am only marshalling a subtree (it's complaining that it's not seeing the "collection" root element"). I suppose what I really want to do is bind a schema to the Stax XMLEventWriter or something like that. Any comments on this overall approach would be helpful. Basically I want to be able to use JAXB to marshal and unmarshal large XML documents without running out of memory, so if there's a better way to do this let me know.
