• Play framework 2.2 using Upstart 1.5 (Ubuntu 12.04)

  I'm trying to get Play 2.2 working with upstart. I've been running Play 2.x with upstart since it's release and it's never been a problem. But since the release of 2.2 and the change to http://www.scala-sbt.org/sbt-native-packager/ play doesn't want to start any more. I've read that upstart 1.4 has setuid and setguid. I've tried removing the start-stop-daemon but I haven't got that working either. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

• CentOS 6.5 x64 + Ajendi +nginx + php-fpm + mysql setup unable to load the PHP page

• Centos 6.2 postfix install dependency issues

  I am administrating a VPS running cPanel and I'm trying to install postfix. Redhat-release says the version is CentOS release 6.2 (Final) and uname -a says: Linux server.mydomain.com 2.6.32-220.el6.i686 #1 SMP Tue Dec 6 16:15:40 GMT 2011 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux This is how I'm installing postfix (I had tried to solve the problem earlier by installing epel). # yum install postfix Loaded plugins: fastestmirror, security Loading mirror speeds from cached hostfile * epel: mirror.cogentco.com Setting up Install Process Resolving Dependencies --> Running transaction check ---> Package postfix.i686 2:2.6.6-2.2.el6_1 will be installed --> Processing Dependency: mysql-libs for package: 2:postfix-2.6.6-2.2.el6_1.i686 --> Finished Dependency Resolution Error: Package: 2:postfix-2.6.6-2.2.el6_1.i686 (centos-burstnet) Requires: mysql-libs You could try using --skip-broken to work around the problem Attempts to install mysql-libs tells me several files conflict with "MySQL-server-5.1.61-0.glibc23.i386" I'm not sure why or how this is happening, does anyone know how to resolve this? • CPANEL ModSec2 not working with SecFilterSelective

  Ok, I have cPanel/WHM latest on a Dedi, here are my specs on apache: Server version: Apache/2.2.23 (Unix) Server built: Oct 13 2012 19:33:23 Cpanel::Easy::Apache v3.14.13 rev9999 I just ran a re-compile using easyapache as you can see by the date. When running it I made sure that ModSec was selected and it stated in big bold letters something to the effect of If you install Apache 2.2.x you get ModSec 2 So I believed it :) I recompiled, I then ran: grep -i release /home/cpeasyapache/src/modsecurity-apache_2.6.8/apache2/mod_security2.c Hmm, the file is there but grep doesn't output anything, if I run: grep -i release /home/cpeasyapache/src/modsecurity-apache_1.9.5/apache2/mod_security.c I of course get the ModSec 1 version output. But the thing is that ModSec2 is installed since the c file is there. So I continued and put the following in modsec2.user.conf: SecFilterScanOutput On SecFilterSelective OUTPUT "text" Now when I restart Apache I get this error: Syntax error on line 1087 of /usr/local/apache/conf/modsec2.user.conf: Invalid command 'SecFilterScanOutput', perhaps misspelled or defined by a module not included in the server configuration Now supposedly this is supposed to work, I even have it running in ModSec2 on a non-cpanel server setup manually. So I know ModSec2 supports it. Anyone have any ideas? I have asked this question over at cpanel forum and it got nowhere.

• Can't delete ntuser.dat file to remove profiles after reboot

  I've ran into an issue where some servers will not release the handle on the ntuser.dat file even after a reboot. Or quite possible, after the reboot, the ntuser.dat file is getting re-loaded into memory. The user accounts are definitely not being accessed (some of them belong to users that have not been with the company in over a year). It seems to be on Windows 2003 servers, but I can't be 100% certain that there aren't some 2000 servers showing this issue as well. When I try to use process explorer or handle.exe from sysinternals to kill the handle on these ntuser.dat files, the handle remains open and connected. Handle.exe even reports that the handle was broken while it remains in use. I've even taken ownership on the file and tried to kill the handle to no effect (windows shows I have ownership of the file, but still refuses to release the handle). I have looked into the registry to see if I can discover where the files may be getting loaded at. Unfortunately, the username is appearing in too many places for me to be certain which one is actually loading their reg file into memory. Any suggestions on how I can either break the handle on the files, or prevent them from getting re-loaded after a reboot?

• Uninstalled server 2008 now router won't handle DHCP

  My set up is this. server behind router, router has a server and switch connected to it with multiple computers. router used to serve DHCP and DNS, a couple of days ago installed AD, DNS and DHCP on the server, and the server gave out IP's. For various reasons we had to uninstall the domain on our server. I removed AD, DHCP and DNS from the roles and set the router back to serving DHCP and DNS. Now I can't get computers on the network. I reset my router back to factory defaults, and if I plug a computer directly into the router I can get a IP address, but all the computers behind the switch can't get an IP address and can't see the router. All my computers say unidentified network, and if I ping the router it says host is unreachable. On the other hand, my wireless devices are just fine and connect no problem. But for desktops, ipconfig /release doesn't release anything and /renew can't find a server to renew on. My router log shows several FIN scans but they are from innocuous websites (google, netgear) and it shows a couple of smurf attacks but they are all from my external IP. Any ideas? the server isn't even connected to the route right now, and all the computers are set for dynamic IP addresses.. I don't know what else to try? Any help?

• A switch and router between the printer and PC that want to print but cannot

  IP 192.168.1.5 has a wireless connection to a Linksys router (192.168.1.1) which then is connected to a switch. The switch is connected to a server (192.168.0.2). My printer has IP address of 192.168.0.8. Internet connection is fine on 192.168.1.5. Problem 1: IP 192.168.1.5 can not print using printer 192.168.0.8. Problem 2: IP 192.168.1.2 can not access a shared folder on the the server. The reason for connecting this way is that, the server does not release wireless signal. In order to get wireless signal the Router is connected to the switch. The server is a computer server that only has one outgoing LAN port. Plus, due to inconvinience physical locations, I do not have option to change the physical locations and the way it is connected already. I just want the labtops that only have wireless connection to communicate with the printer and the server. I have tried to change the router IP address to 192.168.0.x like the server and printer. It caused problem for the laptop. The router no longer release internet signals. The router does have IP address from the server 192.168.0.5.

• What needs to be considered when setting up for Linux Development? [closed]

  I want to set up a box for Linux development. I have a working linux install with the usual toolchain and an IDE. I'm looking for advice on how to approach structuring accounts and folders for development. As the Perl folks say "There's always more than one way to do it." Left to my own devices, I'll come up with several unproductive ways of doing it before figuring out what an experienced Linux programmer would think obvious. I'm not looking for instructions to follow for a specific set of tools or a specific software package. Instead, I'm looking for insight into what decisions need to be made and how to make them, with understanding of the advantages and disadvantages of each individual choice. These are some of the questions that come up: Where to put sources Where to put built object files and libraries where to install what to set in environment variables what compiler flags matter and how do you manage them across several types of builds what configuration entries to make in an IDE how to manage libraries to support multiple environments how to handle different build versions such as debug vs release, or cross platform builds If you are an experienced Linux developer, the answers to these questions may seem trivial and obvious. I'd like to learn to make decisions about these questions that result in as little manual configuration as possible, given some existing sources, a particular IDE, or no IDE at all, a paticular set of development libraries etc. At this point you're probably thinking: Can you be more specific? Sure. But remember that I'm trying to learn how to think about this stuff, not just follow a recipie for a specific set of results. Example: Setup a project that uses CMake for some of its components, autogen.sh followed by configure for others and just configure for a few more: debug builds without an IDE debug builds in NetBeans debug builds in Eclipse debug build in Visual Studio all of the above with release builds for Linux, Mac and Windows. So... **What are your thoughts on an approach that works for all four? Do you have any advice on what to read?**

• Is there a simple context-menu add-in that could make-up for the Windows-7 status bar deficiency?

  Edit: I initially asked about free disk space and selected item size. It has since been pointed out that the selected item size summary is still availiable natively in the details pane. I had read elsewhere (wikipedia) that this was removed along with disk free space, which is not the case. Only free disk space has been completely removed. Selection size is still availiable. Is there a context menu add-in out there that could show the free disk space of the relevant drive, when you right click? This would go a long way to compensating for one of the only steps backward I’ve discovered in Windows 7 so far. I doubt anyone had created one specifially for this need before windows 7 because this information was previously easily accessible in the status bar. I thought about creating one, but it has been a while since I have messed with the Shell API, and I know there are coders out there who could do it faster and better. If you’ve heard of one, or know of something else to make-up for this Microsoft misstep, I’d appreciate hearing about it. If MS were listing to the community they would already have a powertoy or add-in of some kind to un-break this. (they could release it unsupported even), as there seem to be many power users that are extremely annoyed by this feature removal decision. If anyone has seen something, please post it here. As it has been only 4 days since official Windows 7 release, I'll wait at least a week to chose an answer. Here's a picture of protoype screenshot: SU question 19232 is related.

• Does VLC Player work well on Windows 7 64-bit?

  I tried VLC Player on Windows 7 64-bit version and the playback was fine, but when the video is maximized the image is very pixelated. I tried this on a Radeon HD 2600 XT graphics card as well as a computer with an Intel graphics chipset and both have the same result. If I use VLC Player on Windows 7 32-bit instead of 64-bit, there is no pixelation. Is this a known problem or is there any method to fix it on Windows 7 64-bit? Update: there isn't a 32-bit vs 64-bit version of VLC player, is there? (unlike 7-Zip) I also tried GOM Player and it doesn't have the problem on Windows 7 64-bit. Update: Nov 4, 2009 VLC displays an update notice: VLC 1.0.3 is a minor release fixing many bugs, especially for Windows Vista and 7, but it also introduces 2 new modes for deinterlacing, and a new udev module. Major fixes are about WMA Pro support, Dolby tracks in 4.0, v4l/v4l2 and atsc and a crash in mjpeg demuxer. Update of translations are also part of this release.

• Apache FOP - Table top and bottom borders missing pagebreak inside table

  I am using Apache FOP to generate a PDF from a XLS FO document. I have created a test XLS FO document that contains a table with collapsed borders that with several tall rows. One of the rows starts on one page and ends on the next and this works as expected. The problem is that the bottom border of the table on the first page is missing and the top border of the table on the second pages is also missing.   I had Windows Vista on my computer and wanted to upgrade to Windows 7 and thought that I would format my computer since it had been awhile. • New Computer Build Questions

  I'm in the process of gathering parts and specs for a new machine. I wear many hats, so the machine needs to do a lot. I need at least 2 monitor support, if not three. I also play many online MMOs (wow, aion, war hammer, etc), along with some freelance programming projects. I already have a case which is very large, so it will fit anything. I have 2 other SATA HDs. They are more for storage and basic programs. I feel that the best improvement could be done with a solid state HD, true or not? I'm more of a software/programming guy, so ANY input at all on improving this system build would be appreciated. I have a few questions with this list. AMD or Intel? I don't know enough about either to choose what would best fit me. Thanks! **EDIT: Thanks for the input everyone! Here are some answers: I do a lot of programming and gaming, so I do need things for both. The newer video card covers the gaming aspect, as well as allowing me to have many monitors.
