• How yo play rington/alarm sound in Android

  I have been looking everywhere how to play a $#@&! rington/alarm sound in android. I press a button and I want to play a rington/alarm sound. I could not find a easy, strsight forward sample... YES! I already looked at Alarm clock source code... but it is not straight forward and I cannot compile it neither. • C# WPF XAML Problem with icon in GridViewColumn

  I've created a ListView with a GridView component in it. Now trying to fill one of the cells with an icon (PNG) like in the code sample below (save_icon.png): <ListView.View> <GridView> <GridViewColumn Header="Date" Width="Auto" DisplayMemberBinding="{Binding Date}" /> <GridViewColumn Header="Time" Width="Auto" DisplayMemberBinding="{Binding Time}" /> <GridViewColumn Header="FriendlyName" Width="Auto" DisplayMemberBinding="{Binding FriendlyName}" /> <GridViewColumn Width="Auto"> <Image Source="save_icon.png" /> </GridViewColumn> </GridView> </ListView.View> Visual Studio gives me an error on the line, where i put the icon into the column (ERROR: "Error 35: The file save_icon.png is not part of the project or its 'Build Action' property is not set to 'Resource'.") I added the icon to the project as a resource and when i start the app, everything works (the icon appears at the right place). But the WPF designer window can't be reloaded and i'm not able to see changes in the designer, when i change the XAML code. Can somebody explain this error or am i doing something wrong? • Simplest possible voting/synchronization algorithm

  What would be a simplest algorithm one or more people could use to decide who of them should perform some task? There is one task, which needs to be done only once, and one or more people. People can speak, that is, send messages one to another. Communication must be minimal, and all people use the exact same algorithm. One person saying "I'm doing it" is not good enough since two persons may say it at a same time. Simplest that comes to my mind is that each person says a number and waits a bit. If somebody responds in that time, the person with lower number "wins" and does the task. If nobody responds, person says that she's doing it and does it. When she says that she does it, everybody else backs off. This should be enough to avoid two persons doing the task in the same time (since there is wait/handhake period), but might need a "second round" if both persons say the same number. Is there something simpler? For those curious, I'm trying to synchronize several copies of SecondLife LSL script to do something only once.

• Broken flash movie player! allowFullScreen does not work with anything other than a wmode value of "

  I have a flash player on a page which plays videos. I also have modal popups which need to be able to display over the top of the flash player when they are opened, etc... I can't change either of these requirements since they are part of the spec I have been given. Flash seems to ignore z-indexes I set on it with css, and the modal popups will therefore only appear above the video player if I set the video player's wmode to opaque or transparent. However, if I do this then the full screen functionality stops working correctly: when I un-fullscreen the video it stays zoomed in. In short If you open a popup on an item page or another page containing flash the popup should be displayed above this. Flash ignores z-index values. You can stop flash ignoring z-index values by setting wmode to opaque or transparent rather than the default: window. This stops full screen from working correctly. Has anybody else faced this issue before? What can I do to fix it? I was thinking of recreating the video player with wmode=opaque whenever I opened a modal popup and then switching it back to wmode=window when the modal popup is closed, since this would mean that the popup should display above it (as wmode=opaque) and the fullscreen should work correct (as wmode=window). However, this is not ideal at all: as well as being a hack it would also mean that the video would stop playing if somebody clicked a button which opened a popup. Cheers!

If anybody sees a simpler solution or a problem, please let me know! The eCommerce system I'm using sends me some data along with a signature. They also give me their public key in .pem format. • User must have accepted TOS - Facebook Graph API error when posting photos to group page

  Hi all, I've been struggling to upload an image from the user's computer and posted to our group page using the Facebook Graph API. I was able to send a post request to facebook with the image however, I'm getting this error back: ERROR: (#200) User must have accepted TOS. To some extent, I don't believe that I need the user to authorize himself as the photo is being uploaded to our group page. • Apache Not Accepting a Path in My Home Folder

  I have trying to set up an Apache site to use a folder in my home folder without any success. I exactly followed the steps in this page: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ApacheMySQLPHP yet I did not succeed; I keep getting error 403, which says that the server doesn't have permission to access the requested page. I searched forums and many suggested changing the permission of the folder. I went straight away and set the permission to 777, but that didn't solve the problem. I made another search and somebody gave me a clue, which is that it could be because my home folder is encrypted. I believe this could be the problem, but: What is the relation between encryption and Apache? I suppose Apache server is requesting the file from the system, rather than trying to access the file bytes! Is there anyway to solve this problem? I don't want to move the folder to /var/www because I am using this Apache for testing, so I want whatever change I make to be immediately reflected, rather than having to copy files which is error prone.

  I have a table with multiple indexes, several of which duplicate the same columns: Index 1 columns: X, B, C, D Index 2 columns: Y, B, C, D Index 3 columns: Z, B, C, D I'm not very knowledgeable on indexing in practice, so I'm wondering if somebody can explain why X, Y and Z were paired with these same columns. B is an effective date. C is a semi-unique key ID for this table for a specific effective date B. D is a sequence that identifies the priority of this record for the identifier C. Why not just create 6 indexes, one for each X, Y, Z, B, C, D? I want to add an index to another column T, but in some contexts I'll only be querying on T alone while in others I will also be specifying the B, C and D columns... so should I create just one index like above or should I create one for T and one for (T, B, C, D)? I've not had as much luck as expected when googling for comprehensive coverage of indexing. Any resources where I can get a through explanation and lots of examples of B-tree indexing?

• iTextSharp everything works but getting strange error when opening pdf document

Everything works fine, and i get no errors in the code; however, when i open created PDF it gives me error saying that document will be not displayed properly because it contain errors.   Hi all, hopefully somebody can help The table structure is as follows: tblCompany: compID compName tblOffice: offID, compID, add1, add2, add3 etc... tblEmployee: empID Name, telNo, etc... offID I have a form that contains contact details for employees, all works ok using after update. A cascading combo box, cmbComp, allows me to select a company, and inturn select the appropriate office, cboOff, and updates the corresponding tblEmployee.offID field correctly. Fields are automatically updated for the address also cmbComp: RowSource SELECT DISTINCT tblOffice.compID, tblCompany.compID FROM tblCompany INNER JOIN AdjusterCompanyOffice ON tblCompany.compID=tblOffice.compID ORDER BY tblCompany.compName; cboOff: RowSource SELECT tblCompany.offID, tblCompany.Address1, tblCompany.Address2, tblCompany.Address3, tblCompany.Address4, tblCompany.Address5 FROM tblCompany ORDER BY tblCompany.Address1; The problem I am having is that when i load a new record how to retrieve the data and automatically load the cmbComp and text fields. The cboOff combo box loads correctly as the control source for this is the offID I imagine there must be a way of setting the value on opening the record? Not sure how though. I dont think I can set the controlsource cmbComp or text fields, or can I? Any help/point in the right direction appreciated, have been searching for a way to do this but cant get anywhere!

  Hi. I am using a facade design pattern for a C# program. The program basically looks like this... public class Api { #region Constants private const int version = 1; #endregion #region Private Data private XProfile _profile; private XMembership _membership; private XRoles _role; #endregion Private Data public Api() { _membership = new XMembership(); _profile = new XProfile(); _role = new XRoles(); } public int GetUserId(string name) { return _membership.GetIdByName(name); } } Now, as I would like subclass my methods into three categories: Role, Profile, and Member. This will be easier on the developers eye because both Profile and Membership expose a lot of methods that look similar (and a few by Role). For example, getting a user's ID would look like: int _id = Namespace.Api.Member.GetUserId("Henry222"); Can somebody "illustrate" how subclassing should work in this case to achieve the effect I am looking for? • I/O between AIR client using Native process and executable java .jar

  I am using Adobe AIR 2.0 native process API to launch a java executable jar. I/O is handled by writing to the input stream of the java process and reading from the output stream. The application is event based where several events are fired from the server. We catch these events in java code, handle them and write the output to the outputstream using the synchronized static method below. public class ReaderWriter { static Logger logger = Logger.getLogger(ReaderWriter.class); public synchronized static void writeToAir(String output){ try{ byte[] byteArray = output.getBytes(); DataOutputStream dataOutputStream = new DataOutputStream(System.out); dataOutputStream.write(byteArray); dataOutputStream.flush(); } catch (IOException e) { logger.info("Exception while writing the output. " + e); } } } The issue is that some messages are lost between the transfer and not all messages reach the AIR client. If I run the java application from the console I am receiving all the messages. It would be great if somebody could point out what I am missing. • using JQuery and Prototype in the same page

  Hi, Several of my pages use both JQuery and Protoype. Since I upgraded to version 1.3 of JQuery this appears to be causing problems, because both libraries define a function named '$'. JQuery provides a function noConflict() which relinquishes control of $ to other libraries that may be using it. So it seems like I need to go through all my pages that look like this: <head> <script type="text/javascript" src="/obp/js/prototype.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="/obp/js/jquery.js"></script> </head> and change them to look like this: <head> <script type="text/javascript" src="/obp/js/prototype.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="/obp/js/jquery.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> jQuery.noConflict(); var $j = jQuery; </script> </head> I should then be able to use '$' for Prototype and '$j' (or 'jQuery') for JQuery. I'm not entirely happy about duplicating these 2 lines of code in every relevant page, and expect that at some point somebody is likely to forget to add them to a new page. I'd prefer to be able to do the following Create a file jquery-noconflict.js which "includes" jquery.js and the 2 lines of code shown above Import jquery-noconflict.js (instead of jquery.js) in all my JSP/HTML pages However, I'm not sure if it's possible to include one JS file in another, in the manner I've described? Of course an alternate solution is simply to add the 2 lines of code above to jquery.js directly, but if I do that I'll need to remember to do it every time I upgrade JQuery. Thanks in advance, Don

• .NET XML serialization

  I would like to serialize and deserialize mixed data into XML. After some searches I found out that there were two ways of doing it: System.Runtime.Serialization.Formatters.Soap.SoapFormatter and System.Xml.Serialization.XmlSerializer. However, neither turned out to match my requirements, since: SoapFormatter doesn't support serialization of generic types XmlSerializer refuses to serialize types that implement IDictionary, not to mention that it's far less easy-to-use than "normal" serialization (e.g. see this SO question) I'm wondering if there exists an implementation that doesn't have these limitations? I have found attempts (for example CustomXmlSerializer and YAXLib as suggested in a related SO question), but they don't seem to work either. I was thinking about writing such serializer myself (though it certainly doesn't seem to be a very easy task), but then I find myself limited by the CLR, as I cannot create object instances of types that won't have a paramaterless constructor, even if I'm using reflection. I recall having read somewhere that implementations in System.Runtime.Serialization somehow bypass the normal object creation mechanism when deserializing objects, though I'm not sure. Any hints of how could this be done? Could somebody please point me to the right direction with this?

• AStar in a specific case in C#

  Hello. To an intership, I have use the A* algorithm in the following case : the unit shape is a square of height and width of 1, we can travel from a zone represented by a rectangle from another, but we can't travel outside these predifined areas, we can go from a rectangle to another through a door, represented by a segment on corresponding square edge. Here are the 2 things I already did but which didn't satisfied my boss : 1 : I created the following classes : -a Door class which contains the location of the 2 separated squares and the door's orientation (top, left, bottom, right), -a Map class which contains a door list, a rectangle list representing the walkable areas and a 2D array representing the ground's squares (for additionnal infomations through an enumeration) - classes for the A* algorithm (node, AStar) 2 : -a MapCase class, which contains information about the case effect and doors through an enumeration (with [FLAGS] attribute set on, to be able to cummulate several information on each case) -a Map classes which only contains a 2D array of MapCase classes - the classes for the A* algorithm (still node an AStar). Since the 2 version is better than the first (less useless calculation, better map classes architecture), my boss is not still satisfied about my mapping classes architecture. The A* and node classes are good and easily mainainable, so I don't think I have to explain them deeper for now. So here is my asking : has somebody a good idea to implement the A* with the problem specification (rectangle walkable but with a square unit area, travelling through doors)? He said that a grid vision of the problem (so a 2D array) shouldn't be the correct way to solve the problem. I wish I've been clear while exposing my problem .. Thanks KiTe

• Dynamic Connection Strings for Strongly Typed DataSet in a Class Library using App.Config

  This is my first question on StackOverflow.com and I'm not sure if this is the correct way to do this. I found a similar question titled: Modifying the Data Source for the Strongly Typed Dataset Connection String. However, the answer provided is not working for me. I'm not able to comment on it because I don't have enough "reputation points" (again, I just signed up), and I didn't want to provide an "answer", because I don't know the correct answer. My problem is that I need to be able to modify the connection string inside the generated myproject.dll.config file, but doing so has no effect for me at all. My library still uses the default connection string that was setup at design time. I've tried everything I know to try, but still no luck. I've tried working around the issue using multiple different approaches, but still the problem persists. I can't find any help on the internet with my specific problem either. It would be great if somebody could shed some light as to why my modified config file isn't being read. Useful information: I'm using a Strongly Typed DataSet I don't know the actual connection string at design time. The app.config doesn't allow me to specify a 'User' scoped connection string. I'm tied to a class library (no Windows Forms) Thank you for any help! Luc

• Reading Data from DDFS ValueError: No JSON object could be decoded

  I'm running dozens of map reduce jobs for a number of different purposes using disco. My data has grown enormous and I thought I would try using DDFS for a change rather than standard txt files. I've followed the DISCO map/reduce example Counting Words as a map/reduce job, without to much difficulty and with the help of others, Reading JSON specific data into DISCO I've gotten past one of my latest problems. I'm trying to read data in/out of ddfs to better chunk and distribute it but am having a bit of trouble.
