  • The Complementary Roles of PLM and PIM

In short, PLM is the master for Product Definition, wherever manufacturing takes place. Product Information Management (PIM) is a product suite that has evolved in parallel to PLM. Product Information Management (PIM) can extend the value of PLM implementations by providing complementary tools and capabilities. More relevant in the area of Product Commercialization, the vision for PIM is to manage product information throughout an enterprise and supply chain to improve product-related knowledge management, information sharing and synchronization from multiple data sources. PIM success stories have shown the ability to provide multiple benefits, with particular emphasis on reducing information complexity and information management costs. Product Information in PIM is typically treated as the commercial view of a material or part, including sales and marketing information and categorization. PIM collects information from multiple manufacturing sites and multiple suppliers into its repository, but also provides integration tools to push the information back out to the other systems, serving as an active central repository with the aim to provide a holistic view on any product sold by a company (hence the name “Product Hub”). In short, PIM is the master of commercial Product Information.   • How can I transfer photo's from my Kodak camera that normally would use KODAK EASYSHARE Software?

    Normally I would plug my camera into my Windows XP pc, and the software would auto start, and transfer the files to a set location. I need to be able to perform the same or similar function on my PC installed with Ubuntu 10.04 (LTS). I would like to plug the camera in (USB), and then be able to select the files I want. At the moment, the camera does not seem to recognise the PC. I do not want to rely on the Windows PC anymore.

Also - Would a company have to create the program (ex photoshop) for every possible distro(gentoo, arch linux, ubuntu, etc...), or would they just have to make one binary and it would work across all distros?

    ServerFault Windows experts: please consider the following use case: I have 2 Windows 2008 Server SP2 boxes let’s call them – SOURCE, CLIENT. On SOURCE: I create a new user called 'normal'. Just a plain user - no special privileges. On CLIENT: I run the following from a command prompt winrm get wmi/root/cimv2/Win32_UTCTime -r:SOURCE -u:normal -p:NormalPassword I get an output containing WSManFault: Message = Access is denied. On CLIENT: I repeat step 3 with the administrator identity, i.e. winrm get wmi/root/cimv2/Win32_UTCTime -r:SOURCE -u:Administrator -p:AdminPassword I get the current UTC time at SOURCE. The question is, what are the least privileges I need to assign to the user 'normal' to ensure that Step 3 behaves like Step 5. In other words, what's the least privilege to enable WinRM access for a non-Admin account?

  • Why do I get Access Denied when using WinRM?

    Following on from this question: Why does my PowerShell script hang when called in PSEXEC via a batch (.cmd) file? I took the advice from Jim B and installed WinRM. To recap I have two servers: HMon01 - runs Windows 2003 Standard SP2 Web1928 - runs Windows 2008 Standard SP2 Both servers are standalone. I installed WinRM for Windows 2003 from here and configured WinRM as follows on both machines: Client NetworkDelayms = 5000 URLPrefix = wsman AllowUnencrypted = false Auth Basic = true Digest = true Kerberos = true Negotiate = true Certificate = true DefaultPorts HTTP = 80 HTTPS = 443 TrustedHosts = * The problem I have is that if I remotely execute commands using the remote machine's built in Administrator account then all is well. However I have an account on the remote machine named remoteexec which is a member of the Administrators group (we disable our Administrator accounts). If I use this account then I get Access Denied errors. I've done all the usual things such as checking passwords and the like. Why would this be?

  • ESXi hard drive power saving

    I currently have a Windows Server running beneath my desk and was considering replacing it with a ESXi layer to run both a Windows and Unix virtual machine. The ESXi is going to give me some nice advantages that I can use but I am still stuck on this issue: The server is mainly used as a fileserver/local webserver, and I use Windows tasks to hibernate/wake the machine at night. Also there is an aggressive disk spin down timeout to reduce noise. With ESXi, this will not be possible to do any more. I could live with the server running 24/7, but I would really like to spin down the disks when not in use. Is there a way to do this on ESXi?

  • Lock application window movement on Mac

    Sometimes, when I use touchpad to control cursor and I'm clicking or double clicking, I move the application window a few pixels because my finger does not tap the touchpad on one place. Is there a way (Mac OS X) to lock application window, so that it can't be moved with cursor unless unlocked again? Is there another way to solve this? (Besides me being more careful when double clicking...) Edit: Is there even an attribute of "window object" that can lock it's position? I can try to write an App that handles just that (or a script run every time I run Application which I want to lock windows for). If there isn't would an OS X Application that "watches" windows movements and counters them (moves back) be hard to code?

  • Create files on C:\ root gives error 0x80070522

    One of our customers has just found a problem when trying to create a file on the root of the C:\ Drive, on a Windows 7 Professional PC. I know they shouln't be keeping files here, but there is a valid reason in this case, so I've relaxed the security on the root of C:\ by giving the group 'users' modify permission. Before I relaxed the security, the user was receiving 'access denied', but now they are receiving the message: An unexpected error is keeping you from creating the file. If you continue to recieve this error, you can use the error code to search for help with this problem. Error 0x80070522: A required priviledge is not held by the client. Googling for this suggests that it is caused by UAC, but how can I get round this when the user doesn't have admin rights on their PC?

  • Using Roboform with PuTTY

    I recently discovered and fell in love with Roboform. In less than a week it's become indispensable. So far I've only seen Roboform's ability to fill out fields in web browsers and Windows GUI apps. I'm an app developer and sometimes I need to use Telnet/SSH. My SSH client of choice is PuTTY, but I can't find any way to integrate Roboform with PuTTY. Is this possible? If not, is there another [free] SSH client that will work with Roboform?
