• How do I modify this download function in Python?

  Right now, it's iffy. Gzip, images, sometimes it doesn't work. How do I modify this download function so that it can work with anything? (Regardless of gzip or any header?) How do I automatically "Detect" if it's gzip? • [PHP] Using cURL to download large XML files

  I'm working with PHP and need to parse a number of fairly large XML files (50-75MB uncompressed). The issue, however, is that these XML files are stored remotely and will need to be downloaded before I can parse them. Having thought about the issue, I think using a system() call in PHP in order to initiate a cURL transfer is probably the best way to avoid timeouts and PHP memory limits. Has anyone done anything like this before? Specifically, what should I pass to cURL to download the remote file and ensure it's saved to a local folder of my choice?

• Sending string from class to Form1

  Although there are some similar questions I’m having difficulties finding an answer on how to receive data in my form from a class. I have been trying to read about instantiation and its actually one of the few things that does make sense to me :) but if I were to instantiate my form, would I not have two form objects? To simplify things, lets say I have a some data in Class1 and I would like to pass a string into a label on Form1. Is it legal to instantiate another form1? When trying to do so it looks like I can then access label1.Text but the label isn’t updating. The only thing I can think of is that the form needs to be redrawn or there is some threading issue that I’m unaware of. Any insight you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

• Is there anyway to bring web @Context into JUnit (CXF+Spring)

  I am trying to create unit test environment to test RESTFul services (cfx+spring) in my dev environemnt. To test RESTFul Services, I require @Context within JUnit test cases. @Context should contain HttpRequest, HttpSession, ServletContext, ServletConfig and all other webserver related information. I have setup the JUnit for the above, but when I run, @Context is coming as null. This could be because there is no webserver running and there is no @Context. I am just doubting whether there is a way to created sample web @Context and pass to JUnit. Any other ideas are welcome to bring web @Context into JUnit test cases. Thank you, Sudheer

• Flex 3 Regular Expression Problem

  I've written a url validator for a project I am working on. For my requirements it works great, except when the last part for the url goes longer than 22 characters it breaks. My expression: /((https?):\/\/)([^\s.]+.)+([^\s.]+)(:\d+\/\S+)/i It expects input that looks like "http(s)://hostname:port/location". When I give it the input: https://demo10:443/111112222233333444445 it works, but if I pass the input https://demo10:443/1111122222333334444455 it breaks. You can test it out easily at http://ryanswanson.com/regexp/#start. Oddly, I can't reproduce the problem with just the relevant (I would think) part /(:\d+\/\S+)/i. I can have as many characters after the required / and it works great. Any ideas or known bugs?

• Passing in a value to a usercontrol through a foreach loop

  in my asp.net mark up I have a foreach loop that iterates through a simple list. In this foreach loop I am adding a new user control and attempting to pass in the value from the loop. However, this value just wont budge and get inside that damn control! Anyone have any suggestions? <%foreach (userInfo i in this.items) { %> <uc1:ItemControl ID="ItemControl" runat="server" UserID='<%#Eval("userID") %>'/> <%} %> userID is a public property in the control, when it goes to set, the value is just literally : <%#Eval("userID") %.   I've written an rspec test using Watir against a web application and it's running fine. However, I now want to be able to run this test against the web application running on different domain names. My initial thought was that I'd be able to pass a value to spec at the command line to set a variable within my script, but I can't see any easy method of doing this. So my second thought was that I might need to add an array of domains into my script and have it test all of them - but I don't always want to test every domain, and the domains are constantly changing as we add and remove sites to be tested. What are my options for allowing the choice of targets I want?

  I have 4 serailized arrays that I want to pass to php for processing. What is the best way to combine them into a single array example: serial_1 = $('#col1').sortable('serialize'); serial_2 = $('#col2').sortable('serialize'); serial_3 = $('#col3').sortable('serialize'); serial_4 = $('#col4').sortable('serialize');` each serialized array relates to a column/section of the page (col1,col2 etc.) What I need to do/would like to do is create a single array that puts the serialized array inside another array for a single post. example: var new_array = serilaize(col_1(serial_1),col2(serial_2),col3,(serial_3),col4(serial_4)) I KNOW THAT IS NOT RIGHT as I have no idea in JQuery how to right the correct syntax.   I have a page that I want to redirect to that requires parameters in the URL: http://www.mysite.com/myController/myAction/param1:val1/param2:val2 I know that there is a Cake PHP redirect function for redirecting that works as follows: $this->redirect(array("controller" => "myController", "action" => "myAction", $data_can_be_passed_here), $status, $exit); How do I add the parameters that I want as part of the url using the above function? I would think that there might be another element that I could add to array so that I can pass along "param1:val1" and "param2:val2". Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  One of my high school students and I are going to try to do a port of Haskell's Parsec parser combinator library into Scala. (It has the advantage over Scala's built-in parsing library that you can pass state around fairly easily because all the parsers are monads.) The first hitch I've come across is trying to figure out how Functor works in scalaz. Can someone explain how to convert this Haskell code: data Reply s u a = Ok a !(State s u) ParseError | Error ParseError instance Functor (Reply s u) where fmap f (Ok x s e) = Ok (f x) s e fmap _ (Error e) = Error e -- XXX into Scala (using Scalaz, I assume). • Where can I find a proper JavaScript beautifier

  I have used http://jsbeautifier.org/ successfully using Rhino and ant, but the problem is that it is not deterministic. If you run the beautifier twice on a file the result is different from each time, e.g. each pass inserts additional array intendation on some lines. I have spent a lot of time debugging the code in beautify.js and have made some workarounds for comment handling, but the array indentation bug is annoying. Is there a correct and properly working JS code formatter anywhere that can be used as part of a source code indentation verification system? EDIT I have now tested with preserve-array-formating disabled, and it seems that it solves the problem. Too bad, since preserve-array-formating is quite useful with large array constructs.

• NHibernate - get List<long> representing primary keys?

  I have a situation where I definitely don't want to get the whole domain object. Basically, the entity has a primary key of long (.NET)/bigint(sql server 2005). I simply need to pass the primary key to an external system which will access the database directly - and since the list of ids could be large, I don't want to rehydrate the entire domain object just to get the Id. In linq2sql, I could accomplish this with a projection, but I am restricted to NHibernate 1.2.1.4000, which doesn't support Linq. Is there a way to accomplish this using NHibernate 1.2.1.4000? (I am open to using a named-query if that will work)

• Not getting stage.stageWidth and stageHeight on Firefox 3.5

  Here's a problem that I've been tried to figure out but still couldn't get the right method to fix it yet. I'm having issue regarding the display when using Firefox 3.5 on MAC, I can see my menu and the display is correct. The menu just position above what it supposed to be positioned. It works fine with Safari on MACOSX. My flash size is: 1440x750 It looks like Firefox can't recognize stage.StageWidth and stage.StageHeight. It returns 0. Some suggest implementing was to pass in the actual width and height of movie via FlashVars. The movie uses these instead of stage.stageWidth and stage.stageHeight Does anyone have an example of code of how to fix that issue?? Appreciated to point me out the right way

  I am geocoding a large amount of user entered addresses and interested in the accuracy levels returned. My GOAL is to get the BEST POSSIBLE ACCURACY score for a given address. I call the geocder api following way http://maps.google.com/maps/geo?q={address}&output=csv&sensor=false&key=xx now the accuracy levels returned for same address with/without premise name q = Key Arena, 305 Harrison Street, Seattle, WA 98109 (Accuracy is 5) q = 305 Harrison Street Seattle, WA 98109 (Accuracy is 8) q = Key Arena, Seattle, WA 98109 (Accuracy is 9.) Its obvious from the above that the google servers does not return the best accuracy when street name is appended with premise/venue. the question is :) is there a way to pass the complete address ( with premise name / i.e case 1 ) and get the Max Accuracy. ( or how can tell the google server that the address is passed with premise/building name and street name) ( if you are thinking why not just use case 3, the answer is these are user entered addresses, they could enter "my moms's house" for premise, with accurate street address. in which case i want the accuracy to be 8 not 5)

  I'm trying to get In App Purchase with my existing iPad App working. I'm stuck retrieving the Product Information from App Store: - (void)productsRequest:(SKProductsRequest *)request didReceiveResponse:(SKProductsResponse *)response The SKProductsResponse only contains invalid Product IDs. I tried every potential solution I found here or on the net: my App ID has In App enabled I generated a new provisioning profile and installed it on my device I restarted the device my App ID is the same as in my Info.plist (it's in the Store since weeks) I added In App Purchases for the App with "cleared for sale" checked I added Screenshots to my In App Purchases I tried different naming schemes for the Product ID I made triple checked that I pass the correct Product ID to the SKProductsRequest I'm passing a NSSet to the SKProductsRequest instead of a MutableSet I updated my App with the upcoming version containing in App purchase and submitted it for Review I approved one of my In App Purchases, just to see if that helps I waited more than 24 hours All of these actions brought me nothing but invalid Product IDs. I hope someone can point me into the right direction, because I'm running out of ideas.

• JS 2 minute countdown then execute a function?

  I'm not that great at Javascript, for the record! I DO know how to use ajax. I just need a bit of help. I'm having a hard time figuring out how to display a 5 minute countdown, and once the countdown hits zero, to run a function. I need to pass a variable to the function that needs to run. I tried SetInterval but this isn't exactly my strong suit. Does anyone have any suggestions? I can post the code I've got, but I would equate it to a gorilla fumbling in the dark at a typewriter!

  Hi I have implemented the Observer Pattern with lazy load. The class that requests the data from the database is a singleton class. Now I am able to load the data from one database (located in one datacenter) very easily. But I need to get the data from other data centers too and display on the same UI. I can somehow pass the address of second data center and fetch the data from there also. But once I will get the data from second data center, it will be added to earlier list only. So later it will be thought for me to distinguish between the data. So I thought of attaching a property with the result set, so that while displaying the output I can show the data for both the data centers separately but on the same UI. I thought of attached property as an option where I can attach the data center name with the list of the data obtained. How is it possible to do in C#? Thanks Manas

• jQuery Tablesorter - disabled headers show progress bar, sortEnd never triggered

  I'm combining Tablesorter's 'disable headers using options' function and the 'trigger sortStart / sortEnd' function and have run into an issue. • No route matches error with application_controller spec

  I have an application_controller spec that is failing since I removed the controller/action route from routes.rb. I get the following error: No route matches {:controller=>"application", :action=>"index"} I had many tests fail in the same way, but was able to fix them by including the correct parameters in the get call. So for instance, if I wanted to get the standard show route for posts in my spec, I had to change get :show to get :show, :id => '1' Unfortunately, I'm not sure now what to pass along for the application controller specs.
