  • Slick: why would I save "Unit" to my database?

    I'm new to Scala and Slick and was surprised by something in the Slick documentation: The following primitive types are supported out of the box for JDBC-based databases in JdbcProfile ... Unit ... I don't get why this list contains Unit. From my understanding, Unit is similar to Java's void, something I neither can save to nor receive from my database.   • How do I encode Unicode strings using pyodbc to save to a SAS dataset?

    I'm using Python to read and write SAS datasets, using pyodbc and the SAS ODBC drivers. I can load the data perfectly well, but when I save the data, using something like: cursor.execute('insert into dataset.test VALUES (?)', u'testing') ... I get a pyodbc.Error: ('HY004', '[HY004] [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] SQL data type out of range (0) (SQLBindParameter)') error. The problem seems to be the fact I'm passing a unicode string; what do I need to do to handle this?

    Hi, I have the following XAML on my page: `<Grid x:Name="LayoutRoot"> <Viewbox Stretch="Uniform"> <Image x:Name="myImage" /> </Viewbox> <WebBrowser x:Name="myBrowser" /> </Grid>` and then in the codebehind I'm switching the visibility between the image and the browser content: myBrowser.Visibility = Visibility.Collapsed; myImage.Source = new BitmapImage(new Uri(p)); myImage.Visibility = Visibility.Visible; and myImage.Visibility = Visibility.Collapsed; myBrowser.Source = new Uri(myPath + p, UriKind.Absolute); myBrowser.Visibility = Visibility.Visible; This works fine, but what the client now wants is a smooth transition between when the Image is shown and when the browser is shown. I tried several approaches but always ran into dead end. Do you have any ideas? I tried setting two states using the VSM and than displaying a white rectangle on top as an overlay, before the swap takes place, but that didn't work (I guess it's because nothing can be placed above the WebBroser???) I tried setting the Visibility of the image control and the webbrowser control using the VSM, but that didn't work either. I really don't know what else to try to solve this simple task.   • How do I format a Uri when binding an Image in Silverlight?

    I haven't been able to find an answer to this. I have a database that has image paths in it ("images/myimage.jpg"). These images exist on my asp.net site which is also where I host the SL. I want to bind these images to my ListBox control so that the image displays. I have read that since I have a string value, "images/myimage.jpg", that I need to convert it to a BitMap image. I have done this: the xaml: <Image Source="{Binding ImageFile, Converter={StaticResource ImageConverter}}"/> the ImageConverter class: public object Convert(object value, Type targetType, object parameter, CultureInfo culture) { try { Uri source= new Uri(value.ToString()); return new BitmapImage(source); } catch(Exception ex) { return new BitmapImage(); } } I get an error when creating the Uri, "The Format of the URI could not be determined". What am I doing wrong? If I create a Uri that looks like this: http://localhost:49723/images/myimage.jpg, it works just fine. Why doesn't just "images/myimage.jpg" work?

    Sorry if I repeat my question but I have still had no clues of what to do and how to deal with the question. My app is a dictionary. I assume that users will need to add words that they want to memorise to a Favourite list. Thus, I created a Favorite button that works on two phases: short-click to save the currently-view word into the Favourite list; and long-click to view the Favourite list so that users can click on any words to look them up again. I go for using a SQlite database to store the favourite words but I wonder how I can do this task. Specifically, my questions are: Should I use the current dictionary SQLite database or create a new SQLite database to favorite words? In each case, what codes do I have to write to cope with the mentioned task? Could anyone there kindly help?   • Alignment for image display on hover works only in IE7?

    Hello, I tried to display a image when a mouseover on text occurs. It works fine. And the alignment of the image should be shown such that the end of the image should be at the container. It works fine with the code shown below, Only in IE7. In everything, it gets chopped off..     I am looking to print using C#, micorsoft visual studio, asp.net. The goal:- I am trying to print all pages in a fax document. Format:- The fax document is received as a single .tiff file with multiple pages. What needs to be done:- I need to iterate each page in the .tiff image and print them all. // This function will iterate all pages, one at a time. // protected void PrintAll_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { // counts number of pages in the fax document.// int number = _FaxPages.Count; // for loop to iterate through each page. // for (int i = 0; i < number; i++) { string _FaxId = Page.Request["FaxId"]; _PageIndex = i; imgFax.ImageUrl = "ShowFax.ashx?n=" + _FaxId + "&f=" + _PageIndex + "&mw=750"; PrintAll.Attributes.Add("onclick", "return printing()"); } } and In my Java script I have: function printing() { window.print(); } Now the issues are: <1 The function only prints one page (the very last page of the tiff file)....and it prints the entire window and not just the embedded .tiff image in the entire web browser window. Any Ideas of how to go about just printing the .tiff embedded image instead of the entire web browser window. <2 Although my for loop iterates through the pages. The print function is only called after the loop has iterated through all the pages and stopped on the final page (say page 6/6). And then it only prints that last page (along with the rest of the contents on the browser window). This is not what I want to happen... I dont want to print all the excess material on the browser window such as buttons, links etc... I just want the embedded .tiff image from the browser window.

    I have an HTML page where I want to refresh a lot of images every 30 seconds after the HTML page has been downloaded. I understand how to do this with Jquery and a single image, but I want to use about 200 custom urls to determine the current image to display for over 200 images. I need to find an efficient way to have jquery call the custom url associated with each image to download the url for the needed image as it changes, and then update the image in the page when it changes. Current hyperlink example to demonstrate the custom urls. <A href="/urlThatReturnsCurrentImageURL/1234/4567">link to url for image</A> Each custom url will return an image tag like this (or any other text that makes this simpler for jquery) <img src="/static/someImage.jpg"> What is the simplest way to have jquery call the custom url for each image to download the image url, image html, or some other text that jquery can use to download the right image every 30 seconds? Please keep in mind that I will have about 200 of these on a page.
