  • How to organize makefiles / solutions etc. in multiplatform projects?

    - by Michal Czardybon
I have a project which can be compiled with Visual Studio, GCC and with some embedded compilers. Sources are shared, but each platform requires separate makefiles, project files, solutions etc. There are two ways I can organize them: Intermixed in a single hierarchy of folders With separate folders for platform-dependent files The first solution creates some confusion about which file belongs to which platform, but the second causes some repetition of the folders structure (some compilers require each project to have a separate folder). Which do you think is better?

  • How can I compose a WCF contract out of multiple interfaces?

    - by mafutrct
I've got multiple interfaces. All of them should be inherited and exposed by a single contract interface. interface A { void X(); } interface B { void Y(); } interface C: A, B {} // this is the public contract How is this possible? I can't add ServiceContract to A and B because that would lead to multiple endpoints. And I don't want to new-override every method in C.

  • How to add a jar build by a project to the project in eclipse?

    - by Xetius
I have a project which as part of the build process creates an XMLBeans jar file (stbSchemas.jar) which I want to include and reference in this project. Is this the best way to go about this (Single project) or should I have a child project which is built from the parent project? I am building this using Maven2 inside Eclipse. Is there a better way to do this so that I can maintain the integrity of the projects and stability of the builds.

  • Podcasts for Clojurians?

    - by Michiel Borkent
I regularly listen to the podcasts DotNetRocks and Software Engineering Radio. Lately I have become more interested in Clojure. Are there any podcasts that target more toward the Clojure (more general FP/LISP/dynamic languages) audience? I know of some single podcast episodes but I'm looking for a podcast I can regularly listen to.

Is it possible to alter a table to add a new column and make that column a foreign key to another table in a single command in Postgresql? "alter table x add column y id references z(id)" doesn't seem to work as I had hoped.

  • Launch another instance of Java app on Mac

    - by TomA
I have a Mac Java app bundle that has problems opening an OpenGL window from a SWT dialog in a single process. It just doesn't work. To solve this problem I would like to open a SWT dialog in one instance of the Java app and then have it launch another instance of itself with a parameter saying "this time open the OpenGL window". The part I don't know how to do is finding out what "itself" is on a Mac. How can I do that?

  • Build specific module in multi-module project

    - by Roman
Hi I have a multi-module project. I thought I can compile only a single module from that multi module project by that line : mvn -amd -pl "module-name" Seems not to work , this command builds only the specific module. Its dependencies are not compiled yet so it fails. Any ideas how to solve that ? Thanks

  • hexdump confusion

    - by zedoo
I am playing with the unix hexdump utility. My input file is UTF-8 encoded, containing a single character ñ, which is C3 B1 in hexadecimal UTF-8. hexdump test.txt 0000000 b1c3 0000002 Huh? This shows B1 C3 - the inverse of what I expected! Can someone explain? For getting the expected output I do: hexdump -C test.txt 00000000 c3 b1 |..| 00000002 I was thinking I understand encoding systems..

  • SQL Server: How to iterate over function arguments

    - by atricapilla
I'm trying to learn SQL and for demonstration purposes I would like to create a loop which iterates over function arguments. E.g. I would like to iterate over SERVERPROPERTY function arguments (propertynames). I can do single select like this: SELECT SERVERPROPERTY('ProductVersion') AS ProductVersion, SERVERPROPERTY('ProductLevel') AS ProductLevel, SERVERPROPERTY('Edition') AS Edition, SERVERPROPERTY('EngineEdition') AS EngineEdition; GO but how to iterate over all these propertynames? Thanks in advance.

  • Using open source SNES emulator code to turn a rom file into a self-contained executable game

    - by Baron von Monkeydorf
Would it be possible to take the source code from a SNES emulator (or any other game system emulator for that matter) and a game ROM for the system, and somehow create a single self-contained executable that lets you play that particular ROM without needing either the individual rom or the emulator itself to play? Would it be difficult, assuming you've already got the rom and the emulator source code to work with?

  • Are Multi-column Primary Keys in MySQL a optimisation problem?

    - by David
Been looking into using multi-column primary keys and as performance is extremely important with the size of traffic and database I need to know if there is anything to consider before I start throwing out the unique ID method on many of my tables and start using mulit column primary keys. So, what are the performance/optimisation pros/cons to using multi column primary keys versus a basic single column, auto-inc primary key?

  • Display numbers from 1 to 100 without loops or conditions

    - by Harsha
Is there a way to print numbers from 1 to 100 without using any loops or conditions like "if"? We can easily do using recursion but that again has an if condition. Is there a way to do without using "if" as well? Also no repetitive print statements,or a single print statement containing all the numbers from 1 to 100. A solution in Java is preferable.

I am working on Java. Here is my code response = URLEncoder.encode(response, "UTF-8").replaceAll("\\+", "%20"); Problem comes when there is a ' (single quote) in the string response. It gets encoded to \'. eg - 'Collective Dynamics of Complex Networks' comes as \'Collective Dynamics of Complex Networks\' I want it to remain as it is. What should I do?
