• Apache, modifying response codes from 404 to 301

  Hi, I'm running a magento installation on an apache server. There are many pages indexed in both google and linked to from external sites. I can't use 301 redirects in a .htaccess file as I can't be sure I will catch all the links. At the moment all requests are rewritten through magento and if a request isn't found magento returns a 404 File not Found. Is there a way of using one of the apache modules to filter the response* from magento and if a 404 Not Found is being sent back then replace the response with a standard 301 Redirect to the home page? E.g. Request to Magento -- Apache -- Rewrite to Magento index.php page -- page processed. Response if request exists -- return results (200) if request doesn't exist -- return 404 -- apache filter change response -- return 301 redirect to / I appreciate any help. Thanks, Jon as far as I am aware mod_rewrite is only used to rewrite requests and doesn't allow the modification of responses.

• CSS box shadow on container div causes scrollbars

  I have a website with the following setup: <div id="container"> <div id="header"></div> <div id="content"></div> <div id="clearfooter"></div> </div> <div id="footer"></div> I use the clearfooter and a footer outside the container to keep the footer at the bottom of the page when there isn't enough content. My problem is that I would like to apply a box shadow on the container div in the following way: #container {width:960px; min-height:100%; margin:0px auto -32px auto; position:relative; padding:0px; background-color:#e6e6e6; -moz-box-shadow: -3px 0px 5px rgba(0,0,0,.8), 3px 0px 5px rgba(0,0,0,.8);} #header {height:106px; position:relative;} #content {margin:0px; padding:10px 30px 10px 30px; position:relative;} #clearFooter {height:32px; clear:both; display:block; padding:0px; margin:0px;} #footer {height:32px; padding:0px; position:relative; width:960px; margin:0px auto 0px auto;} As you can see its a drop shadow on on each side of the container div. However, in doing this, when the content doesn't take up the full height, there are still scroll bars caused by the shadow pushing past the bottom of the footer due to the blur. Is there some way of preventing the shadow from going past the edge of the container div and causing a scrollbar? Thanks for your help!

  Hey, I am calling a bunch of posts under a certain post type in WordPress which works but I am trying to add a conditional that will check first if those post's custom meta field (labeled "disc") is equal to the current post's title. • cPanel default email address and BCC forward

  In my cPanel I redirect all unknown emails to my gmail address of [email protected]. I set it from default email address option of cPanel of example.com. I wrote a filter in gmail. When I receive email thait is sent to example.com I move it to folder X. But when I receive an email that is sent to example.com as BCC, I don't see my email address in headers, so filter doesn't work. Email comes to gmail inbox, which I don't like. So I need to forward BCC type emails to [email protected]. Or add my email address before forwarding to gmail.

• Explaining the need to avoid horizontal scroll

  I need help explaining to my boss why her design is poor on a client's website. She has no knowledge of the web, and it can be difficult as a web developer working with a woman who is a graphic designer (not even a web designer really). On a current site she has designed, an image bar "needs" to be ~1200px according to her, though it isn't necessary with the content. A quick sketch to illustrate what's going on: As you see, the banner spills out past the 960px of the content and as wide as 1200px. This creates a horizontal scroll when all the content is viewable within the 960px wide viewport. I need to make this an <img and not a CSS background because it's a jQuery slideshow that fades from image to image. I think this is a big problem because a lot of people are going to get a horizontal scroll bar imposed in their browser when they're still able to see all the relevant content. She thinks no one will notice and it'll be fine; I think it's very bad practice and confusing to the end user. How do I explain the problem to her?

• process of connecting RTP with SIP via SDP & land lines

  Hello to everyone, I have a problem with starting a media session and to combine it with my SIP client. I've designed a recursive SIP client that reuse the same request template to send the next requests to server, according to the acceptable sequences noted in the RFC's, and examples that I read. as far as I could tell the SIP part is working fine registers to server invites, and authenticates. I didn't complete any calls to clients yet because of the content header needs to be filled up (which I didn't yet so I get a 503 from the server which is OK I guess). for a long time I didn't know where to start with the media session, and slowly learned how to use the JMF and I've constructed an object that handles RTP transmitting, now I'm standing at the cross road, on the one hand I have my SIP signaling but it needs the SDP content header to complete the invite, and on the other I have the RTP which is knows how to p2p. For me to complete my design I require your help with the following questions: Is there an easy//a simple//an implemented way to convert the Audio/Video format from the JMF into SDP media headers? or even a generator that I would input all the parameters for the content header, and it would generate a content header fast, or do I have to implement this myself? Once I've finished constructing the SDK and the SIP is up and running and I get an OK response from the server (after ringing and all), how do I start the media session? do I connect p2p according to caller details I send in the SIP invite? If 2 is correct, then how does a connection to land lines would be? does land lines knows that once they send an OK back to server they listen/start RTP session on a specific port? Or did I get everything wrong? :-/ I really appreciate any help I could I get, I looked every where for answers but they are not clear, they ignore question 2 as if it was an obvious thing, but for me it just isn't. If I call my PutFile method, and step into this, it gets to the "//if the bucket doesn't exist, create it" line, then exits. No exception, no errors, nothing. It doesn't complete (i've set breakpoints on my event handlers too) - it just exits. If I run the same method without the ThreadPool.QueueUserWorkItem then it runs fine... Am I missing something?

  Hi, Still quite new to Haskell.. I want to read the contents of a file, do something with it possibly involving IO (using putStrLn for now) and then write new contents to the same file. I came up with: doit :: String -> IO () doit file = do contents <- withFile tagfile ReadMode $ \h -> hGetContents h putStrLn contents withFile tagfile WriteMode $ \h -> hPutStrLn h "new content" However this doesn't work due to laziness. The file contents are not printed. I found this post which explains it well. The solution proposed there is to include putStrLn within the withFile: doit :: String -> IO () doit file = do withFile tagfile ReadMode $ \h -> do contents <- hGetContents h putStrLn contents withFile tagfile WriteMode $ \h -> hPutStrLn h "new content" This works, but it's not what I want to do. The operation in I will eventually replace putStrLn might be long, I don't want to keep the file open the whole time. In general I just want to be able to get the file content out and then close it before working with that content. The solution I came up with is the following: doit :: String -> IO () doit file = do c <- newIORef "" withFile tagfile ReadMode $ \h -> do a <- hGetContents h writeIORef c $! a d <- readIORef c putStrLn d withFile tagfile WriteMode $ \h -> hPutStrLn h "Test" However, I find this long and a bit obfuscated. I don't think I should need an IORef just to get a value out, but I needed "place" to put the file contents. Also, it still didn't work without the strictness annotation $! for writeIORef. I guess IORefs are not strict by nature? Can anyone recommend a better, shorter way to do this while keeping my desired semantics? Thanks!

  Hi, I want to accomplish the following scenario in Drupal: You have 2 content-types. Lets say, an application-form for a lisence, and a content-type for persons. Then when you go to add a lisence in the "node/add" submission form in Drupal, i would like to add a relative number of persons that would be related to this lisence, and only this lisence. Say you would like to apply for a lisence, and relate 4 persons to this lisence, then insted of creating the lisence and then create the 4 persons and relate them to the lisence, i would like to do this "inline". So when i add a lisence, there would be a way to add 1 or more persons that would relate to the lisence node. Is this possible, and if so how? I have been looking at the node reference module, and that manages to reference a node to another, but not to add them inline with the other. With the web-development framework Django, there is a way to this with something called "inline-editing", where you get the content-type fields inside another content-type creation form. There you bind them togheter with a ForeignKey. Anybody know of something simular in Drupal, if not, is it another way to achive something simular, that would be as user-friendly?

  I need to update printer's permissions in a script, i.e. do the same as I would manually do this way: Open Devices and Printers applet Double-click the default printer (open its queue) Go to Printer - Properties In the properties dialog, go to Security tab Change permissions for Everyone (e.g., check Manage documents permissions) How to do that? For example, in PowerShell, I can do Get-WmiObject -class win32_printer -filter Default=True to get the default printer and there are then methods getSecurityDescriptor() and setSecurityDescriptor() but for instance this command: (Get-WmiObject -class win32_printer -filter Default=True).getsecuritydescriptor().Descriptor return null so I'm not sure if I'm doing it the right way. Does anyone have a working example to set printer permissions? Am I on the right path or should I use something other than WMI entirely? Thanks.

• Explaining to boss why we need to avoid horizontal scroll

  I need help explaining to my boss why her design is poor on a clients website. She has no knowledge of web and it can be difficult as a web developer working with a woman who is a graphic designer (not even a web designer really). On a current site she has designed, an image bar "needs" to be like 1200px according to her, though it isn't necessary with the content. I'll show a quick sketch to illustrate what's going on: http://imgur.com/MNGOT.jpg As you see, the banner spills out past the 960px of the content and as wide as 1200px. This creates a horizontal scroll when all the content is viewable within the 960px wide viewport. I need to make this an img and not a css background because it's a jquery slideshow that fades from image to image. I think this is a big problem because a lot of people are going to get a horizontal scroll bar imposed in their browser when they're still able to see all the relevant content. How do I help her explain it. She thinks no one will notice and it'll be fine, I think it's very bad practice and confusing to the end user. Any help?

• 406 Not Acceptable error when using Jquery $.post in Firefox but not in Safari or Chrome

  I'm using Jquery (1.3.2) $.post command to trigger an ajax call to a rails server. The code works great on Safari and on Google Chrome (mac), but when I tried it on Firefox (3.5.7), I got a weird '406 Not Acceptable' error. When I look at the headers, it Firefox indicated that it accepted only ' text/javascript' responses. And the response Content-Type was 'text/html; charset=utf-8'. In Chrome the accepted types were 'application/json, text/javascript, /, text/javascript' and the response Content-Type was 'application/json; charset=utf-8'. I tried to force the content type in rails to 'text/javascript' format.json do render :json => @races.to_json, :content_type => 'text/javascript' end The content type is indeed changed in Chrome, but not in Firefox where it remains 'text/html'. Here is the code I used to trigger the ajax call. $.post( "/locator", params, function(data){...}, "json" ); Is there something I can do to make this work in Firefox? Thanks

• ActiveScaffold custom action_link that should respond like update

  I have a custom action link which is :inline and :post. It's a quick-link to update an attribute, and that part works just fine. After the action, my intent is to respond just like it was an update, so the row is re-rendered in the index. After the record is updated in my controller action, I call respond_to_action(:create) Just like in the create method in active scaffold. It seems like the content of the javascript response is returned correctly to the client, however, the problem: The content-type of the response header is "text/html" instead of "text/javascript", unlike with an actual update. So the JS is not executed and the row doesn't update. I can't figure out what the difference could possibly be here, I've traced extensively and even have replaced the respond_to_action with: respond_to do |format| format.js do render ... end end And it still won't set the content-type like every other action in the app. Anybody have a clue here? Something in active scaffold must be overriding the content-type and I can't figure out what it might be. Surprising this isn't documented, this doesn't seem like an unusual use-case, making an action a slave to the update re-render.

  I'm working on my first Android Augmented Reality application. The application works pretty good if the ARActivity runs as the first class (android.intent.category.LAUNCHER) in the manifest file. But when I added a splash screen which means the ARActivity will be the second to run(android.intent.category.DEFAULT), the camera seems not detecting the marker.   I'm new to JQuery -- not new to javascript. Was able to open the OSX STYLE DIALOG using the hyperlink button provided in the demo index.html page, but would like to open it on the page load. I read a couple links on StackOverflow (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1611727/how-do-i-invoke-a-simplemodal-osx-dialog-on-page-load), but still could not get it to work in the exact same index.html page. I tried this in multiple browsers, and the only content that displayed on the screen was content of this tag: "div id="osx-modal-title", and there was no error in the jscript console.
