  • Receiving SQL Server events from a CLR function

    - by Pablo Lerner
I wrote a CLR class with several methods, which are linked as functions in a SQL Server 2005 database. When several of these functions are used in scope of one transaction or connection, I need another one to be automatically executed to clean up some stuff, at the time of transaction or connection close (either time is good for now, later I will decide which is best). I figure that receiving events from another new CLR functions can do, but I don't know how to achieve that. Can anyone point me to information on modules, documents or whatever, that can help me understand how to receive transaction or connection closing events in a CLR class, or how to execute a particular function when these events occur?

  • I need help understanding what Exercise 5-12 is asking for in the C Programming Language book.

    - by marsol0x
K&R C Programming Language: pg. 105 Extend entab and detab to accept the shorthand entab -m +n to mean tab stops every n columns, starting at column m. entab replaces a number of spaces with a tab character and detab does the opposite. The question I have concerns the tab stops and entab. I figure that for detab it's pretty easy to determine the number of spaces needed to reach the next tab stop, so no worries there. With entab, replacing spaces with tabs is slightly more difficult since I cannot for sure know how large the tab character goes to its own tab stop (unless there is a way to know for sure). Am I even thinking about this thing properly?

  • Turing's Craft exercise stumped me... seems too easy.

    - by Chris
"Write a for loop that prints the integers 1 through 40, separated by spaces or new lines. You may use only one variable, count which has already been declared as an integer." So I use... for(count = 1; count <= 40; count++) { cout << " " << count; } but they are using stdio.h as the only header and cout is not recognized. It hints that the output format should be (" ",count), but I can't figure out what print function to use. stdio.h can use fprintf or fwrite, but I don't have enough parameters for either function. Any ideas?

  • WebGL transparent black.

    - by Catalin Dumitru
I have a strange problem that I can't figure out when trying to do blending in WebGL. Black is rendered fully transparent , and everything with shades of grey in it is rendered also semi transparent. I have set it to use the alpha channel as the source for transparency, and in some respect it works, every thing that isn't black/grey is rendered differently when changing the alpha value. but even when I set the alpha to 1, black is still displayed transparent. This is how I enable transparency: this.gl.blendFunc(this.gl.SRC_ALPHA, this.gl.ONE); this.gl.enable(this.gl.BLEND); this.gl.disable(this.gl.DEPTH_TEST); And the part of the shader that does transparency: gl_FragColor = vec4(texColor.rgb * vLightWeight, texColor.a * uAlpha); where texColor is the texture color that is being sampled, vLightWeight is the shadowing that is being calculated in the vertex shader, and uAlpha the uniform which I use for transparency.

  • Duplicate Method Names - Objective-c

    - by evanchri
Why does this compile with out any errors or warnings? @interface ObjectTest : NSObject { } -(void)iAmADoubleMethod; -(void)iAmADoubleMethod; @end @implementation ObjectTest -(void)iAmADoubleMethod { NSLog(@"IAmADoubleMethod"); } @end I came across this in a project I am working on. I come from a C++ background, so I figure I would get at least a warning for this. Not only would I like to know why it complies but could this code cause any problems? Thanks.

  • Android image scaling to support multiple resolutions

    - by tyuo9980
I've coded my game for 320x480 and I figure that the easiest way to support multiple resolutions is to scale the end image. What are your thoughts on this? Would it be cpu efficient to do it this way? I have all my images placed in the mdpi folder, I'll have it drawn unscaled on the screen onto a buffer, then scale it to fit the screen. all the user inputs will be scaled as well. I have these 2 questions: -How do you draw a bitmap without android automatically scaling it -How do you scale a bitmap?

  • Add widgets to custom WordPress sidebars on theme activation?

    - by McGirl
I'm working on a WordPress 3.0 multi-site installation. Each new blog will use the same theme with slight modifications (a custom Thesis install, if it matters). I'm trying to automate the set-up process for each new blog as much as possible. To that end, I'd like to automatically add widgets to my custom sidebars and widget-enabled footers. It'd be even better if the widgets could have pre-set parameters/content, that I or the blog owner could then go into the Widgets panel and edit. I've searched high and low and haven't been able to figure out a way to make this work. Any and all suggestions are welcome. Thanks so much!

  • "Socket operation on non-socket" error due to strange sytax

    - by Robert S. Barnes
I ran across the error Socket operation on non-socket in some of my networking code when calling connect and spent a lot of time trying to figure out what was causing it. I finally figured out that the following line of code was causing the problem: if ((sockfd = socket( ai->ai_family, ai->ai_socktype, ai->ai_protocol) < 0)) { See the problem? Here's what the line should look like: if ((sockfd = socket( ai->ai_family, ai->ai_socktype, ai->ai_protocol)) < 0) { What I don't understand is why the first, incorrect line doesn't produce a warning. To put it another way, shouldn't the general form: if ( foo = bar() < baz ) do_somthing(); look odd to the compiler, especially running with g++ -Wall -Wextra? If not, shouldn't it at least show up as "bad style" to cppcheck, which I'm also running as part of my compile?

  • gwt - Using List<Serializable> in a RPC call?

    - by Garagos
I have a RPC service with the following method: public List<Serializable> myMethod(TransactionCall call) {...} But I get a warning when this method is analyzed, and then the rpc call fails Analyzing 'my.project.package.myService' for serializable types Analyzing methods: public abstract java.util.List<java.io.Serializable> myMethod(my.project.package.TransactionCall call) Return type: java.util.List<java.io.Serializable> [...] java.io.Serializable Verifying instantiability (!) Checking all subtypes of Object wich qualify for serialization It seems I can't use Serializable for my List... I could use my own interface instead (something like AsyncDataInterface, wich implements the Serializable interface) but the fact is that my method will return a list custom objects AND basic objects (such as Strings, int....). So my questions are: Is it a standart behaviour? (I can't figure out why I can't use this interface in that case) Does anyone have a workaround for that kind of situation?

  • Webkit browser jQuery transformations/transitions not working with jSplitSlider

    - by user3689793
    I am helping to build a site and i'm having an issue with the functionality of an add-in called jsplitslider when running it in chrome. Right now, when I navigate between the slides, the div's get stuck on top of each other and never clear the webkit transformations/animations: <div class="sl-content-slice" style="transition: all 800ms ease-in-out; -webkit-transition: all 800ms ease-in-out;"> I think the problem is due to timing of the functions, but I can't seem to figure out where I would need to add a setTimeout(). I only think this because I exhausted a lot of the other options like display: inline-block, notransitions css, etc. I'm desperate to figure out how to make this work in chrome. It works in FF and IE(surprisingly enough). I'm not great at webcoding, so any help will be appreciated! The code on the site isn't minimized. Here is the jQuery where I think the problem lies: var cssStyle = config.orientation === 'horizontal' ? { marginTop : -this.size.height / 2 } : { marginLeft : -this.size.width / 2 }, // default slide's slices style resetStyle = { 'transform' : 'translate(0%,0%) rotate(0deg) scale(1)', opacity : 1 }, // slice1 style slice1Style = config.orientation === 'horizontal' ? { 'transform' : 'translateY(-' + this.options.translateFactor + '%) rotate(' + config.slice1angle + 'deg) scale(' + config.slice1scale + ')' } : { 'transform' : 'translateX(-' + this.options.translateFactor + '%) rotate(' + config.slice1angle + 'deg) scale(' + config.slice1scale + ')' }, // slice2 style slice2Style = config.orientation === 'horizontal' ? { 'transform' : 'translateY(' + this.options.translateFactor + '%) rotate(' + config.slice2angle + 'deg) scale(' + config.slice2scale + ')' } : { 'transform' : 'translateX(' + this.options.translateFactor + '%) rotate(' + config.slice2angle + 'deg) scale(' + config.slice2scale + ')' }; if( this.options.optOpacity ) { slice1Style.opacity = 0; slice2Style.opacity = 0; } // we are adding the classes sl-trans-elems and sl-trans-back-elems to the slide that is either coming "next" // or going "prev" according to the direction. // the idea is to make it more interesting by giving some animations to the respective slide's elements //( dir === 'next' ) ? $nextSlide.addClass( 'sl-trans-elems' ) : $currentSlide.addClass( 'sl-trans-back-elems' ); $currentSlide.removeClass( 'sl-trans-elems' ); var transitionProp = { 'transition' : 'all ' + this.options.speed + 'ms ease-in-out' }; // add the 2 slices and animate them $movingSlide.css( 'z-index', this.slidesCount ) .find( 'div.sl-content-wrapper' ) .wrap( $( '<div class="sl-content-slice" />' ).css( transitionProp ) ) .parent() .cond( dir === 'prev', function() { var slice = this; this.css( slice1Style ); setTimeout( function() { slice.css( resetStyle ); }, 150 ); }, function() { var slice = this; setTimeout( function() { slice.css( slice1Style ); }, 150 ); } ) .clone() .appendTo( $movingSlide ) .cond( dir === 'prev', function() { var slice = this; this.css( slice2Style ); setTimeout( function() { $currentSlide.addClass( 'sl-trans-back-elems' ); if( self.support ) { slice.css( resetStyle ).on( self.transEndEventName, function() { self._onEndNavigate( slice, $currentSlide, dir ); } ); } else { self._onEndNavigate( slice, $currentSlide, dir ); } }, 150 ); }, function() { var slice = this; setTimeout( function() { $nextSlide.addClass( 'sl-trans-elems' ); if( self.support ) { slice.css( slice2Style ).on( self.transEndEventName, function() { self._onEndNavigate( slice, $currentSlide, dir ); } ); } else { self._onEndNavigate( slice, $currentSlide, dir ); } }, 150 ); } ) .find( 'div.sl-content-wrapper' ) .css( cssStyle ); $nextSlide.show(); }, _validateValues : function( config ) { // OK, so we are restricting the angles and scale values here. // This is to avoid the slices wrong sides to be shown. // you can adjust these values as you wish but make sure you also ajust the // paddings of the slides and also the options.translateFactor value and scale data attrs if( config.slice1angle > this.options.maxAngle || config.slice1angle < -this.options.maxAngle ) { config.slice1angle = this.options.maxAngle; } if( config.slice2angle > this.options.maxAngle || config.slice2angle < -this.options.maxAngle ) { config.slice2angle = this.options.maxAngle; } if( config.slice1scale > this.options.maxScale || config.slice1scale <= 0 ) { config.slice1scale = this.options.maxScale; } if( config.slice2scale > this.options.maxScale || config.slice2scale <= 0 ) { config.slice2scale = this.options.maxScale; } if( config.orientation !== 'vertical' && config.orientation !== 'horizontal' ) { config.orientation = 'horizontal' } }, _onEndNavigate : function( $slice, $oldSlide, dir ) { // reset previous slide's style after next slide is shown var $slide = $slice.parent(), removeClasses = 'sl-trans-elems sl-trans-back-elems'; // remove second slide's slice $slice.remove(); // unwrap.. $slide.css( 'z-index', 10 ) .find( 'div.sl-content-wrapper' ) .unwrap(); // hide previous current slide $oldSlide.hide().removeClass( removeClasses ); $slide.removeClass( removeClasses ); // now we can navigate again.. this.isAnimating = false; this.options.onAfterChange( $slide, this.current ); }, Sorry if I missed any conventions when posting, this is my first S.O. post.   • SharePoint - Auto-increment dates in new records?

    - by ACal
Hello, I have a list that's going to be updated with relatively static data weekly, and I wanted to create a workflow to do this automatically. The only field I'm having trouble with is Start Date. I want the new Start Date to be exactly one week after the previous week's (row's) Start Date, but I can't figure out how to capture this. I can't seem to find an easy way to get the value of the previous row. Now, theoretically, I could just have the workflow run once a week on a given day and use [Today] as the value for the field; however, a requirement is that the list can be populated a few weeks in advance if needed. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

  • add extra data to response object to render in template

    - by mp0int
I ned to write a code sniplet that enables to disable connection to some parts of a site. Admin and the mainpage will be displayable, but user section (which uses ajax) will be displayed, but can not be used (vith a transparent div set over the page). Also there is a few pages which will be disabled. my logic is that, i write a middleware, def process_request(self, request): if ayar.tonline_kapali: url_parcalari = request.path.split('/') if url_parcalari[0] not in settings.BAGIMSIZ_URLLER: if not request.is_ajax(): return render_to_response('bakim_modu.html') else: return None that code let me to display a "site closed" message for the urls not in BAGIMSIZ_URLLER (which contains urls that will be accessible) But i do not figure out how can i solve the problem about ajax pages... i need to set a header or something to the response and need to check it in the template.

  • Radius of multiple latitude/longitude points

    - by zekial
I have a program that takes as input an array of lat/long points. I need to perform a check on that array to ensure that all of the points are within a certain radius. So, for example, the maximum radius I will allow is 100 miles. Given an array of lat/long (coming from a MySQL database, could be 10 points could be 10000) I need to figure out if they will all fit in a circle with radius of 100 miles. Kinda stumped on how to approach this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Adapting Android Bluetooth Chat for multiple devices

    - by Megh
Hello, I'm doing a college project on Bluetooth for Android, and I'm trying to understand how to manage communication between multiple connected devices. Eventually I'm going to develop a multiplayer Bluetooth Game. Currently I've adapted Android's sample app BluetoothChat to connect my three Nexxus One phones. 1 connects to 2 who connects to 3 1 sends its messages successfully to 2. 3 sends its messages successfully to 2 as well. 2 can send its messages successfully to 1 and 3, as it shares a ConnectedThread with both. But I can't figure out how to handle getting communication from 1 to 3. Does anyone have any examples of communication between multiple devices or has done this themselves? Thanks

  • How to programatically create and read WEP/EAP WiFi configurations in Android?

    - by Als
How to programatically create and read WEP/EAP WiFi configurations in Android? I have seen a number of people struggling on this very question on various forums and all across the community. I know this is not that straight forward(especially EAP) to figure out because When I wanted to acheive the same I too struggled quite a lot.Well, all the hard work of code analysis and searching various implementations on the internet done with I was finally able to acheive the goal. All the credit goes to number of open source projects and their developers. I would like to share this knowledge with all, Since SO encourages this: "It's also perfectly fine to ask and answer your own question, as long as you pretend you're on Jeopardy: phrase it in the form of a question." Part 1: Creating a WEP WiFi configuration programatically. Part 2: Read a WEP WiFi configuration programatically. Part 3: Read a EAP WiFi Configuration programatically. Part 4: Save a EAP WiFi configuration programatically.

  • script to dynamically fix ophaned users after db restore

My script below loops through all users that are displayed after executing sp_change_users_login 'report' and apply "alter user [username] with login = [username]" to fix SID conflicts verses static go statements. Although, I'm getting an "incorrect syntax error on line 15." can't figure out why... • Predicates and Lists

    - by George
Hello guys, I have a generic list. Some elements of this list belong to a parent element. I retrieved all these elements from a database and i want to recursively build a tree with them. So, here's what i'm thinking: Here is my predicate: public static bool FindChildren(Int32 parentId,CategoryMapping catMapping) { if (catMapping.parentId == parentId) { return true; } else { return false; } } root = list[0]; root.childrenElements = root.FindAll(FindChildren(root.id,???) I can't figure out how this would work. How can i do this kind of predicate?

  • Jquery: fade menu out when clicking on anything EXCEPT the menu itself, short piece of code.

    - by ExodusNicholas
    .saf_search is a button, when it's clicked, the menu .lisearch fades in, when you click anywhere on the page EXCEPT for on the menu .lisearch, then it should fade out(that's how it's SUPPOSED to work) Does anyone know why this isn't working? It fades in, and the first time i click anywhere on the page it fades out, but the second time i try to fade in the menu, it will quickly fade out again without me clicking the document. i think this has to do with .one, but i had it working before my hard drive crashed, and now i can't figure out how to get it working again... $('.saf_search').click(function() { $('.lisearch').fadeIn(200); }); $(document).click(function(){ jQuery(".lisearch").click(function(){ return false; }); jQuery(document).one("click", function() { jQuery(".lisearch").fadeOut(); }); });

  • XCode - Multiple targets, Multiple *internationalized* names?

    - by Kris Jenkins
I've got an internationalized iPhone project. In the various ${lang}.lproj/InfoPlist.strings files I've got a single key, CFBundleName = "My App Name". That's working fine for a single target, but I can't make it work for multiple targets. I'd like to have several translated InfoPlistMyApp.strings files for the main target, plus several InfoPlistMyApp*Lite*.strings files for the lite version. But I can't figure out how to set it up. The InfoPlist.strings name seems to be set in stone, so I can't replace it dynamically. Any ideas?

  • Another Permutation Word Conundrum... With Linq?

    - by CraigF
I have seen many examples of getting all permutations of a given set of letters. Recursion seems to work well to get all possible combinations of a set of letters (though it doesn't seem to take into account if 2 of the letters are the same). What I would like to figure out is, could you use linq (or not) to get all possible combinations of letters down to 3 letter combinations. For example, given the letters: P I G G Y I want an array of all possible cominations of these letters so I can check against a word list (scrabble?) and eventually get a list of all possible words that you can make using those letters (from 3 letters up to the total, in this case 5 letters).

  • Theming Drupal Add Block form via forms API.

This is what i've got so far, but obviously it's not right and I can't figure out what the array is. • In LaTeX, is there a way to get long lines along the margins?

    - by Christian Jonassen
I'm working on a report, and some elements are outside the margins (but some are just barely outside the margins). I was wondering: Is there a way to make two vertical lines, one on each side, along the margins so that one can easily see if it goes outside them? (Googling it, I only found information about margin notes.) A figure is below: |report text goes here| |more text goes also h|ere |and so on and so fort|h It would certainly make correcting these kinds of mistakes very trivial. :) Feel free to post answers that would solve/show this problem in a more "LaTeX-correct" way, if that makes any sense at all.

  • Counting vowels in a string using recursion

    - by Daniel Love Jr
In my python class we are learning about recursion. I understand that it's when a function calls itself, however for this particular assignment I can't figure out how exactly to get my function to call it self to get the desired results. I need to simply count the vowels in the string given to the function. def recVowelCount(s): 'return the number of vowels in s using a recursive computation' vowelcount = 0 vowels = "aEiou".lower() if s[0] in vowels: vowelcount += 1 else: ??? I'm really not sure where to go with this, it's quite frustrating. I came up with this in the end, thanks to some insight from here. def recVowelCount(s): 'return the number of vowels in s using a recursive computation' vowels = "aeiouAEIOU" if s == "": return 0 elif s[0] in vowels: return 1 + recVowelCount(s[1:]) else: return 0 + recVowelCount(s[1:])

  • jQuery: How to collect values from sliders into simple object with id as keys

    - by Svish
I have several jQuery UI Sliders and I want to collect their values. Thought it would be a simple task, but when I was going to do it I got stuck and not quite sure what to do anymore :p The object I would like to end up with should look something like this: { a: 80, b: 90, c: 20, ... } I can do it manually like this: var values = { a: $('#a').slider('value'), b: $('#b').slider('value'), c: $('#c').slider('value'), ... }; But that's a bit tedious, especially if I need to add or remove or rename. Was hoping I could do something with the map or each function or something like that, but I can't figure it out. Anyone have some clever ideas?

  • static constants return instance of specific class in Flex?

    - by Sang
So here's what I mean. Let's say I have a class ErrorMessages which holds all my error messages as static constants. So I could access them like ErrorMessages.PASSWORD_INVALID or ErrorMessage.PASSWORD_TOO_SHORT. I want to know if it is possible to have separate classes that hold subset of these constants and access them like ErrorMessages.PASSWORD.INVALID or ErrorMessages.PASSWORD.TOO_SHORT, etc. This way I can more structured static structure and makes it much easier to use autocomplete. I tried few different ways and couldn't figure out if this was possible..
