• how to pass session variable to model in RoR?

  I used a global variable in my app for passing information before. But I got a problem and thanks everyone here suggested me to store those data in session with database. I tried, but I found that I can't access the session variable in Model. I googled and knew this is the Model normal behavior, RoR won't pass the session variable to Model. So how to pass the value of the session variable into Models? or is there any other method for my use case? I need a variable storing a value, which is required in all MVCs, and should be independent between different concurrent users. Thanks everyone. :)

• Hosting an NServiceBus subscriber in the same application as the producer.

  Is it possible to use NServiceBus to publish and consume messages in the same application, specifically a web application? In the future we will almost certainly need to maintain a separate long running service to process messages generated by this application, and this is why we are hoping to use NServiceBus from the start, but right now it would be nice to just start up the consumer and the publisher when the web application starts. This will make testing and deployment far easier for us. I presume I will need to reference the NServiceBus.Host.exe and start up the process in the global.asax, but need help on what exactly I need to call to do this.

• WAS Non-HTTP activation - hooking application startup

  I'm trying to integrate a netTcpBinding based application that is hosted inside WAS with an IoC container (autofac/spring). Unfortunately, when it starts inside WAS and due to the fact that it is not an Http based application, no events are fired inside the Global application class. I need to catch the application domain startup so that I can configure the IoC container. Is there any way to do this when hosting in WAS? I've seen horrible things involving using static classes inside App_Code folders, but I'd like something somewhat more testable and not quite as dirty.

  Hi , How can we specify were log4j has to look at when trying to find its xml configuration file ? It seems that by default, log4j looks into the root of a class folder, I can say that using the debug log4j functionality and running my application from the IDE. However, I don't have any class folder in my jar anymore. And the log4j.xml file is at the root of the jar. I have already tried to set the option -Dlog4j.configuration=log4j.xml but it doesn't work.   to capture keystrokes for registering global hotkeys i want to use the shortcut recorder. but i can't get it to work. here is what i have done so far: checked out the current version from the svn installed xcode 3 because my xcode 4 wouldn't build, then built it with xcode 3 in xcode 4, i added the shortcutrecorder.framework in the build-directory to my application, dragged/copied the SRRecorderControl.h to my application directory and inserted #import "SRRecorderControl.h" to my AppDelegate.h when i build and run, it fails and says images not found. i know that there are images in the shortcut recorder main directory, but i dont know where to put these. and: how do i add the special shortcut recorder textfield to my main window?

I know its because of my custom view engine.. But how can you register new custom view engine without affecting the view engine of areas?

• Why is volatile not considered useful in multithreaded C or C++ programming?

  As demonstrated in this answer I recently posted, I seem to be confused about the utility (or lack thereof) of volatile in multi-threaded programming contexts. My understanding is this: any time a variable may be changed outside the flow of control of a piece of code accessing it, that variable should be declared to be volatile. Signal handlers, I/O registers, and variables modified by another thread all constitute such situations. So, if you have a global int foo, and foo is read by one thread and set atomically by another thread (probably using an appropriate machine instruction), the reading thread sees this situation in the same way it sees a variable tweaked by a signal handler or modified by an external hardware condition and thus foo should be declared volatile (or, for multithreaded situations, accessed with memory-fenced load, which is probably a better a solution). How and where am I wrong?

(Persian digits uni06F0..uni06F9). the number of visitors is generated by blog service. and I want to convert its digits to Arabic. Counter: ????? ????????????? : <BlogSky:Weblog Counter /> ??? the Persian part of above code mean 'Number of visitors' and 'Persons' (from left to right). but digits are represented in latin (0123...). Is it possible to write something like a function in html? i want it to be a global one for using in weblogs. Note: I don't know anything about web programming languages. I'm not sure about language of above code. (html?)

I have a really big recursive function with in a loop and get an exception in one iteration. I don't know which iteration it belongs to$%^&*(.   In my Global.asax.cs, I have: routes.MapRoute("AssetCss", "css/{*path}", new { controller = "Asset", action = "Index" }); I also have this in a view: <link href="/css/Root/index.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" /> The problem is that the AssetController does not invoke Index when /css/Root/index.css is requested. This is because a file actually exists at the path /css/Root/index.css. If I recall correctly, there's a checkbox setting in IIS that basically says "Do not check that a file actually exists at the request path [instead, let the RouteTable handle it]." (At least there is in IIS 6.) Is there something I can put in my Web.config that sets this IIS setting to true? How do I tell IIS to let my MVC routes handle the path even if a file exists at the path?

• Referencing control on one form from another form VB.NET

  My gosh man, why is this so complicated in VB.NET? As you can guess, I'm kind of new to .NET and just want to reference a control on one form from another. Usually I would just do Form.Control.Property but that doesn't work and every example I've found through Google doesn't work for me. It just seems overly complicated with public classes, etc. Is there a more simpler way to do this? I'm ready to throw in the towel and just use a global variable at this point. I have the form containing the control I want to reference, frmGenerate which has a textbox called txtCustomerNo. From this form through a button's click event I want to show another form, frmCustomers, and have that form reference the value in txtCustomerNo. frmCustomers.ShowDialog() It has to be something simple that I'm just not grasping.   Hi, In an iPhone application, I try to catch animation endings using setAnimationDidStopSelector. I try to suspend code execution until animation ends. I have tried this; set a global BOOL variable, set it to TRUE before commiting animation and after commiting animations waited using a while loop. In the setAnimationDidStopSelector, set the BOOL variable to FALSE and hope while loop to break. But unluckily this did not work, the code did not even fall into setAnimationDidStopSelector (I check that with some trace outputs). What do you suggest?

On the other hand I want to show the gif, when I'am making manual ajax requests. I am using jQuery. edit: I didn't setup the global handler as shown here http://api.jquery.com/ajaxStart/, just by attaching to the .ajaxStart event. • Is `eval`ing in a CPAN module without localizing $@ a bug?

  I think I've encountered a bug in Params::Validate, but I'm not sure whether I identified the problematic code piece correctly. The code in question failed to pass exceptions up the chain (using Try::Tiny), so I started debugging and found out that a class used inside the try block has a destructor. This destructor calls object methods which use Params::Validate and looking into Validate.pm source I see an eval without $@ localization, i.e. the global $@ gets overwritten. Now I see two options: Params::Validate should always localize $@ and thus it's a bug that should be reported. The bug is in the class in question, because it shouldn't use Params::Validate in a destructor. Params::Validate can stay as it is now. Which one is it? How I should I handle this situation? PS: I think that CPAN modules should be rock-solid and neither break themselves nor their environment, hence the question title.

  I have a jpg image in my app that shows correctly. In my listview i'd like to make the image more transparent so it is easier to see the text. I changed the image to a png format and altered it's opacity in GIMP. Now that the new image is in the app drawable folder. But when I enter text and the list with suggestions opens no item in de list is selected. And i want a item to be selected so when you press enter that it becomes the selected item. • How to store and access JSON data for a site?

  I'm buiding an HTML/jQuery site where almost all the content comes from remote JSON data. I'm having trouble coming up with a good way to store and access the data in the future (scope-wise). Currently, I've written a jQuery plugin that gets the JSONP data when the site loads. But I have other functions and jQuery plugins that need to access this data. Where should this data be stored so other functions and plugins can access it? Should it be a global variable? If it matters, this site will only run on the iPad and the back-end of the site is in Rails.

  This thing is really wracking my mind. I'm learning C++ and I wanted to define a constant that I can use in another function, A short answer on how to do this will be fine.. If I do "objVector.clear()", it removes all 100 objects and I would have a vector with a size of 0. I need it to be a size of 100 at the start of every loop.

Now a user registered,so that i need a configuration file for that user. I have a BANNER ,user uploads images to the server and select some images for that banner.
