SQL Server 2008 spatial index and CPU utilization with MapGuide Open Source 2.1

I have a SQL Server table with hundreds of thousands of geometry type parcels. I have made indexes on them trying different combinations of density and objects per cell settings. So far I'm settiling for LOW, LOW, MEDIUM, MEDIUM and 16 objects per cell and I made a SP that sets the bounding box according to the extents of the entities in the table. There is an incredible performance boost from queries taking almost minutes without index to less than seconds, it gets faster when the zoom is closer thus less objects are displayed. Yet the CPU utilization gets to 100% when querying for features, even when the queries themselves are fast. I'm worrying this will not fly in a production environment. I am using MapGuide Open Source 2.1 for this project, but I am positive the CPU load is caused by SQL Server. I wonder if my indexes are set properly. I haven't found any clear documentation on how to properly set them up. Every article I've read basically says "it depends..." but nothing specific. Do you have any recommendations for me, including books, articles? Thank you.

Can you open a form or window in an Outlook Addin (VSTO)

Hi, I am new to VSTO programming. I have created a basic addin for Outlook 2007 that monitors a folder containing XML text files which it opens and then sends them as an email, then deletes them. this all works fine. I want the user to be able to configure certain settings for the way the addin/program will operate, such as the folder that it will monitor, and other things. The logical way to do this is to create a menu item in the addin (which I have also done) that opens a windows form (or XAML window) that allows them to enter the parameters. In my addin I added a new item Windows Form, which worked, and the designer opened. However, in my addin code I cannot open the form. The Show() method normally associated with form objects is not available. Is this simply something you cannot do, or am I just doing it the wrong way? I have read about Outlook form regions, but these seemed to be attached to outlook items such as a new email, task, appointment etc... there doesnt seem to be a way to create a form region that can be opened in the main window of Outlook. Ideally, I would like to go with my original method of opening a new window from a menu item, but if this isnt possible I would like to hear other solutions. Thanks, Will.

Open source libraries to design directed graphs

Hi all, I'm going to need to write a software that takes a list of persons and connects them together in a directed-graph-like manner. The GUI aspect of the whole project is very important. The graph must allow a lot of interaction. Such as selecting several people and hiding the others, moving them around. Additionally, the software will need to be able to provide other kind of GUI-features such as several tabs, text boxes etc. The application must be quite performant. As in, it must be able to handle hundreds if not thousands of widgets. Hence, I would like to know which open source libraries (at this point the programming language they are written in does not matter - I just want an overview of everything good that is out there) would allow me to develop such piece of software? What would you recommend? Thanks for that. Edit: Could you please also link to tutorials explaining how I could program a GUI that can interact with the generated graph? For example mouse events.

I'm currently experiencing an issue with an Open GL ES renderbuffer where the backing and width are are both set to 15. Is there any way to set them to the width of 320 and 480? My project is built up on Apple's EAGLView class and ES1Renderer, but I've moved it from the app delegate to a controller. I also moved the CADisplayLink outside of it (I update my game logic with the timestamp from this) Any help would be greatly appreciated. I add the glview to the window as follows: CGRect applicationFrame = [[UIScreen mainScreen] applicationFrame]; [window addSubview:gameController.glview]; [window makeKeyAndVisible]; I synthesize the controller and the glview within it. Submit to open up a popup window and carry through input data

Hi, I have a input box on one page that on submit opens a new page with a longer form and the first field is populated with what was entered from the previous pages input box. So on page 1 there is this code: <form action="sign-up.php"> <input type="text" name="email" value="sign up for email" onFocus="clearText(this)" onBlur="clearText(this)" style="float: left;"> <input value='Submit' /> </form> Then on the sign-up page the receiving form grabs the string out of the url // I would like to keep all of this functionality but it have it occur in a popup. I added this function to the submit: function myPopup() { window.open( "sign-up.php", "myWindow", "status = 1, height = 300, width = 300, resizable = 0" ) and the form becomes <form> <input type="text" name="email" value="sign up for email" onFocus="clearText(this)" onBlur="clearText(this)" style="float: left;"> <input onClick="myPopup()" value='Submit' /> </form> But it no longer appends the input data to the url string. Anyone have any ideas on how I can accomplish this?

Dynamcally resising an open Accordion

I have an Accordion and the height of its content can be dynamically resized. I can't figure out where proper resizing takes place inside the Accordion control. Does anyone have an idea?

open Fancybox in tabs

Hello all. I am using PHP + jQuery + Fancybox in my project. I have multiple tabs that get created dynamically. I have got a star icon on every tab header and on clicking them I want to open a fancybox. My tabs are basically ul-li with following dynamic code. $("#tabs").append("<li class='current'><a class='tab' id='tab_" + tabCnt + "<a href='#loginBox_div' class='login_link'> <img src='star.png' style='cursor:pointer'/> </a>" + "<a href='javascript:void(0);' class='remove'>x</a></li>"); in my index file : $(document).ready(function() { $("a.login_link").fancybox({ 'titlePosition' : 'inside', 'transitionIn' : 'none', 'transitionOut' : 'none' }); }); The problem is that when I click on star icon of first tab, the loginBox_div (fancybox) opens properly. But when my second tab is created and when I click on its star icon, the fancybox is not opening although the class is applied in second and successive tabs. No javascript errors too. Please show me the way. Thank you.

Importing data from third party datasource (open architecture design )

How would you design an application (classes, interfaces in class library) in .NET when we have a fixed database design on our side and we need to support imports of data from third party data sources, which will most likely be in XML? For instance, let us say we have a Products table in our DB which has columns Id Title Description TaxLevel Price and on the other side we have for instance Products: ProductId ProdTitle Text BasicPrice Quantity. Currently I do it like this: Have the third party XML convert to classes and XSD's and then deserialize its contents into strong typed objects (what we get as a result of this process is classes like ThirdPartyProduct, ThirdPartyClassification, etc.). Then I have methods like this: InsertProduct(ThirdPartyProduct newproduct) I do not use interfaces at the moment but I would like them to. What I would like is implement something like public class Contoso_ProductSynchronization : ProductSynchronization InsertProduct(ContosoProduct p) where ProductSynchronization will be an interface or abstract class. There will most likely be many implementations of ProductSynchronization. I cannot hardcode the types - classes like ContosoProduct, NorthwindProduct might be created from the third party XML's (so preferably I would continue to use deserialization). Hopefully someone will understand what I'm trying to explain here. Just imagine you are the seller and you have numerous providers and each one uses their own proprietary XML format. I don't mind the development, which will of course be needed everytime new format appears, because it will only require 10-20 methods to be implemented, I just want the architecture to be open and support that.

Why can't I open a JBoss vfs:/ URL?

We are upgrading our application from JBoss 4 to JBoss 6. A couple of pieces of our application get delivered to the client in an unusual way: jars are looked up inside of our application and sent to the client from a servlet, where the client extracts them in order to run certain support functions. In JBoss 4 we would look these jars up with the classloader and find a jar:// URL which would be used to read the jar and send its contents to the client. In JBoss 6 when we perform the lookup we get a vfs:/ URL. I understand that this is from the org.jboss.vfs package. Unfortunately when I call openStream() on this URL and read from the stream, I immediately get an EOF (read() returns -1). What gives? Why can't I read the resource this URL refers to? I've tried trying to access the underlying VFS packages to open the file through the JBoss VFS API, but most of the API appears to be private, and I couldn't find a routine to translate from a vfs:/ URL to a VFS VirtualFile object, so I couldn't get anywhere. I can try to find the file on disk within JBoss, but that approach sounds very failure prone on upgrade. Our old approach was to use Java Web Start to distribute the jars to the client and then look them up within Java Web Start's cache to extract them. But that broke on every minor upgrade of Java because the layout of the cache changed.

svg mouseup event not fired in IE9, unless the debugger is open

I am using d3 to build a simple chart that the user can edit interactively with the mouse. It works on in all modern common browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari), except for Internet Explorer 9 where I can start to drag an item but I never get the mouseup event. The strangest bit is that, if I open the debugger, the page works percetly on Internet Explorer 9 as well. Rails Heroku Gemfile.lock error - push rejected (open source)

I am trying to push my open source RoR application to Heroku but I'm having an issue making the initial push. I have read many similar questions, but none of those answers has helped to solve my problem. I have tried bundle update and bundle install various times. I also have tried removing and then re-committing my Gemfile.lock file, however I get this same error still... $ git push heroku master Counting objects: 5199, done. I need Selenium to open it's web browser in a larger resolution ( preferably maximized)

I am using Selenium WebDriver and coding in Python I have looked all over the place and the best I could find were things written in different languages. I also tried to use the export tool on Selenium IDE but when I look at the data says that the function is not supported for export. EDIT: The reason I need the browser to open up with a larger resolution is because the web application that I am testing is supporting tablet resolution as so elements are different depending on the resolution of the browser window. LNK1104: cannot open file 'kernel32.lib'

I Had VS2010 installed but found that intellisense wasn't working. I looked on the web and found that I wasn't the only one who had that issue. So, I installed VS2008 and everything was fine. Then I decided to clean up my computer and removed VS2010 and immediately started getting this error on my programs (new and old). Even a simple test program that has one cout command. I tried repairing VS2008 and that didn't work so I tried to uninstall and then reinstall and still I am getting the same problem. I have looked online for this issue and though I have found a lot of other people are experiencing this issue it is not the same. They are having problems with other external references, not the ones that should automatically be included like kernel32 and lib32 etc. I also tried the solution that worked for some people with their other references and I included the path (with and without quotes) to my kernel32 directory but still I get the same problem, or in some instances I will get LNK1104: cannot open file 'C:\WINDOWS\system32.obj' with and without quotes in the linker config. Can anyone please help?

Scripts help FIND command via atime output to multiple files

here is a script I have wrote that I need help with. in the script I do a find for any file that has not been access for over 30 days, 60, 90, 180, 270 & 365 days. This works just fine. however, this takes a few days just to finish the 30 day portion. it is scanning a NAS. WPF - Only want one expander open at a time in grouped Listbox

I have a UserControl with a templated grouped listbox with expanders and only want one expander open at any time. I have browsed through the site but haven't found anything except binding the IsExpanded to IsSelected which isn't quite what I want. I am trying to put some code in the Expanded event that would loop through Expanders and close all the ones that aren't the expander passed in the Expanded event. I can't seem to figure out how to get at them. I've tried ListBox.Items.Groups but didn't see how to get at them and tried ListBox.ItemContainerGenerator.ContainerFromItem (or Index) but nothing came back. OperationalError "unable to open database file" processing query results with SQLAlchemy and SQLite3

I'm running into this little problem that I hope is just a dumb user error. It looks like some sort of a size limit with a query to a SQLite database. I managed to reproduce the issue with an in-memory DB and a simple script shown below. I can make it work by either reducing the number of records in the DB; or by reducing the size of each record; or by dropping the order_by() call.
