• How to get multiple copies of a UIView loaded from a nib?

  I want to use a UIView heirarchy multiple times (the nib object is a template). Unfortunately, UIView does not conform to <NSCopying so [cell.contentView addSubview: [[templEditCellView copy] autorelease]]; does not work. I wasn't surprised, since I want a deep copy of the view heirarchy. Currently the view is a top-level object in the nib it is loaded from. Is there a way to reload a single specified top-level object from the nib? Should I split out the view to a single NIB which can be reloaded on demand? Or is there another way to make a deep copy of a view? Thanks!

• How can I inherit form and access controls from mother form?

  Hi, I'm in the middle of writing my project and I have this problem: I try to write a library and I want to use it in my application. In library I have a form with menu strip, tool bar, list view, tree view and etc. Everything in library is protected. In my application I have created the form which inherit form the library. I can change and add new functionality to list view and tree view using designer panel in VS 2008 but I don't have access to menu strip and tool bar, even though they are protected. Why is that so? I will be thankful for some advice.

• Ubuntu 10.10 screen goes nuts and unreadable

  Running Ubuntu 10.10 in its own partition, also have Oracle Virtualbox 4 with Windows XP. Because i previously had a problem with a dark screen when i let the laptop on and i didn't use it for a long while i had set Power settings to Never sleep, never let the Display sleep. Monitor on install set to Laptop resolution 1400 by 1050, refresh rate 60 Hz, rotation Normal. The problem was when the computer was left on and i returned after about an hour, the screen was unreadable, similar to what used to happen to graphics cards before multisync became normal. So it appears as though the graphics card was asked to use a resolution it couldn't handle and went nuts. I had to power off the system, on restart everything was fine. Thanks for any suggestions. • iOS6: do we have to set rootViewController in App delegate in order to support different orientations?

  The app was perfectly fine working in iOS5 in landscape orientation. However in iOS6, it started to use portrait orientation in all view controllers. The methods shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation are not called anymore. I read the new stuff about changed rotation mechanism in iOS6 and I was able to fix that by adding a line in my AppDelegate: self.window.rootViewController = _viewController _viewControler is the starting screen (Home-menu). All other view controllers implement shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation method and returns YES for landscape orientations only. So, it's perfectly working solution for the app that needs to support only one orientation. However, the problem is I need one view controller (lets call it phone-VC) to be presented in portrait orientation. Now, if I want this view controller would be rotated then I need to return YES in Home-menu controller that is assigned to rootViewControler in appDelegate. However, I can't do that because this rootViewController is starting window that need to presented in landscape only, otherwise the layout with graphics in this window will break. But if I don't return YES from its shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation (Home-menu) then the same method is not called in my view phone-VC that needs to be presented in portrait. Any ideas? Does the assignation of rootViewController is mandatory in AppDelegate? UPDATE: the problem exists on device (at least on iPhone4).

  My blog has been quiet for quite a while. My inspiration comes from crunching/exchanging information which I should do more often. Gartner analysis tells us that by 2013 mobile phones will overtake PC’s as the most common Web access device worldwide. A few years back I would have said non sense, but apparently most Web users are comfortable with less processing power. Just take a look at the increasing business in Netbooks. Wouldn’t it be great to have a mobile phone which can connect wirelessly to my home TV, monitor, car display, mouse, keyboard, etc? And to have the processing power of the current Netbook generation? Where can I buy it? Why are we making our PC devices (for instance the slate) smaller while we can make our mobile device’s functionality bigger? What about the single responsibility principle? Does it apply to physical devices as well as good object-oriented software?

  Hi I have a grid view which is dynamically generated via C# using a DataSet. I'm passing a row ID field (from the database) to the grid view, as this is required when a user clicks to edit a records. However I don't want the user to be able to view the column. I have tried the following but it doesn’t seem to work? • How to create a reusable form using COCOA bindings.

  hi. I want to make a user interface in which the user can edit two objects at the same time. The main window would have a vertical split view and a form on each side of the view. The problem is that the two forms are identical and I don't want to duplicate the view components in the interface builder. I want to create the form one time and add a reference to it in each side of the split view, each one using a different object source. I could use a NSForm, but the form is not a simple grid of outputTexts and inputText. They have a master table, and diverse kinds of inputs types, like combos, in the detail. How do I create the reusable form using the interface builder? Or how can I do it programmatically? Do I have to create a subclass of NSView and add the individual components in the code? • UIButton setBackgroundImage consumes doesn't release memory?

  My UIButton has it's background image set like this: [myImageButton setBackgroundImage:[UIImage imageNamed:myImageName] forState:UIControlStateNormal]; myImageButton is a retained property of the class, and is setup with IB. No where else is it accessed in the app. myImageName is simply an NSString with a filename like @"myImage_number_1.png" I am loading large images, 1024 x 1024 in size. When the view is shown, it changes the image with the above statement, then available memory decreases. After I see the view about 7-9 different times, the app crashes with a memory warning. I thought the method would free up the loaded image. The view itself is only instantiated and allocated one time, so it's not in the retain/release cycle if the view controller. Is there something about this setBackgroundImage I don't know that causes it to not release memory?

  We are using the GWT-Presenter framework and attempting to use CellTable to put together an updateable grid. It seems as though several of the GWT constructs for CellTable don't lend themselves to easily breaking up the logic into clean view and presenter code. Examples: 1) Within the View's constructor, the CellTable is defined and each column is created by anonymous inner classes that extend the Column class to provide the onValue() method. 2) The FieldUpdater interface must be implemented to provide logic to execute when a user alters data in a cell. This seems like it would best fit in the Presenter's onBind() method, but FieldUpdaters often need access to the Cell or Column which belong in the view. CellTable does not have accessor methods to get hold of the Columns or Cells, so it seems the only way for the Presenter to get them is for me to create a multitude of member variables on the View and accessors on my Display interface. Can anyone provide good examples for dealing with CellTable in GWT-Presenter or a comparable MVP

I am passing the view outlet of the controller not the controller. How can iOs 5 knows that it has to call [[BNUtilitiesQuick searchController] viewWillAppear:YES]

  Suspend and Hibernate was not working in my Ubuntu 11.04 and I followed these instructions to fix the issue by installing uswsusp. The commands s2ram and s2disk were working fine for me and hence I replaced the contents of hal-system-power-suspend-linux and hal-system-power-hibernate-linux as directed in the above link. Now after my upgrade to Ubuntu 11.10, I am unable to hibernate my system. How to rectify this issue? Is there any config file which I need to change for hibernate to function properly?

• Ubuntu 12.04 Hangs with Software Center open then opening Dash Home

  I have a Dell D610 - Intel graphics - 1 Gig RAM. I have test the hard drive and RAM and both are fine. When I open Software Center, then Dash home my system locks up. The mouse cursor moves but is unresponsive if I try to right or left click anything. The keyboard is totally unresponsive and I have to hold the power button to power off! I have reinstalled from CD, did all updates but the issue persists. I tried using the track pad only, and I plugged in an external mouse also but no change. Everything else works great ! I am sick of running Vista and have no love for Metro! Thanks for any suggestions, on a scale of 1 to 10 (Newbie - Expert) I am about 3
