StringWriter sw = new StringWriter(); myDataTable.WriteXml(sw); And this works, however, the serialized XML looks like this: <NameOfTable> <NameOfTable> <ID>1</ID> <Name>Jack</Name> </NameOfTable> <NameOfTable> <ID>2</ID> <Name>Frank</Name> </NameOfTable> </NameOfTable> Is there anyway to change the outer <NameOfTable> to, say, <Records> and the inner <NameOfTable> to <Person>?

(a club has many meetings and a meeting has many attendees) So far I have (declared in class Club < ActiveRecord::Base): num_attendees = meetings.select("COUNT(attendees.id) AS num").joins(:attendees).group('meetings.id') Arel::Table.new('tmp', self.class.arel_engine).from(num_attendees).project('FLOOR(AVG(num))').group('tmp.club_id').to_sql but, I am getting the error: undefined method `visit_ActiveRecord_Relation' for #<Arel::Visitors::MySQL:0x9b42180> The documentation for generating non trivial ARel queries is a bit hard to come by. I have been using http://rdoc.info/github/rails/arel/master/frames Am I approaching this incorrectly? Or am I a few methods away from a solution?

  • How to efficiently SELECT rows from database table based on selected set of values

    I have a transaction table of 1 million rows. The table has a field name "Code" to keep customer's ID. There are about 10,000 different customer code. I have an GUI interface allow user to render a report from transaction table. User may select arbitrary number of customers for rendering. I use IN operator first and it works for few customers: SELECT * FROM TRANS_TABLE WHERE CODE IN ('...', '...', '...') I quickly run into problem if I select few thousand customers. There is limitation using IN operator. An alternate way is create a temporary table with only one field of CODE, and inject selected customer codes into the temporary table using INSERT statement. I may then using SELECT A.* FROM TRANS_TABLE A INNER JOIN TEMP B ON (A.CODE=B.CODE) This works nice for huge selection. However, there is performance overhead for temporary table creation, INSERT injection and dropping of temporary table. Do you aware of better solution to handle this situation?

  • How do I set up a Windows NFS share so that I can view it's contents on Linux?

    My NFS server is a Windows XP SP3 box with the Microsoft Windows Services for Unix installed. I have a share configured under C:\NFS with the share name NFS and ANSI encoding. Anonymous access is enabled, with the anon UID/GID set to 0/0. Additionally, I've set ALL MACHINES to Read-Write, and checked the checkbox to Allow root access. My first NFS client is a Ubuntu 10.04 box, with nfs-common installed. Running sudo mount -t nfs 1.1.1.1:/NFS /home/user/NFS succeeds, but when I attempt to view the folder (even as root), it tells me that I do not have the permissions necessary to view the contents of the folder. My second NFS client is an IBM iSeries box running OS/400 V5R3. I used the mount command below: MOUNT TYPE(*NFS) MFS('1.1.1.1:/NFS') MNTOVRDIR('/PARENT/NFS') OPTIONS('rw,nosuid,retry=5,rsize=8096,wsize=8096,timeo=20,retrans=2,acregmin=30,acregmax=60,acdirmin=30,acdirmax=60,soft') CODEPAGE(*BINARY *ASCII) which also mounts successfully. Attempting to WRKLNK '/PARENT/NFS' and use Option 5 to enter the directory yields a Not authorized to object error - even though I am a security officer with the *ALLOBJ special authority. My gut says that it's a problem with the Windows share, but I don't know what it could be. Do you have any suggestions?

    We have a number of machines which record data into a database at sporadic intervals. For each record, I'd like to obtain the time period between this recording and the previous recording. I can do this using ROW_NUMBER as follows: WITH TempTable AS ( SELECT *, ROW_NUMBER() OVER (PARTITION BY Machine_ID ORDER BY Date_Time) AS Ordering FROM dbo.DataTable ) SELECT [Current].*, Previous.Date_Time AS PreviousDateTime FROM TempTable AS [Current] INNER JOIN TempTable AS Previous ON [Current].Machine_ID = Previous.Machine_ID AND Previous.Ordering = [Current].Ordering + 1 The problem is, it goes really slow (several minutes on a table with about 10k entries) - I tried creating separate indicies on Machine_ID and Date_Time, and a single joined-index, but nothing helps. Is there anyway to rewrite this query to go faster?

    So I've been looking at code from various parts of the Android git, but when I try to load and compile many of them (camera, media player, etc) they reference classes and parts of the SDK that just aren't available even with my SDK version updated to 2.2. (for example the bitmap config option inNativeAlloc) Is there a reason that these are not in the SDK given out to developers?

That is as a product of the inner loop, the outer loop -- will never be executed more than 100 times, so it can be omitted. What I'm not sure about is the while clause, should it be incorporated into the Big-O complexity? For very large i values it could make an impact, or arithmetic operations, doesn't matter on what scale, count as basic operations and can be omitted?

    If Apple doesn't want developers using private APIs in the iPhone SDK, why don't they do something like mark the classes and/or methods with whatever the Objective-C equivalent of C#'s "internal" keyword? If the APIs are spread amongst multiple binaries, Apple could refactor them into dedicated private-API-only binaries to make this easier for them.

I am keen to try this out, but will have to get approval at work to do so.     I'm running into a problem trying to get Windows Authentication working in an environment that uses Microsoft Application Request Routing and was hoping someone might be able to help. The problem I'm running into is that only some requests are authenticated, while others fail with 401 errors. I have followed the Special Case of Running IIS 7.0 in a Web Farm instructions found at http://blogs.msdn.com/b/webtopics/archive/2009/01/19/service-principal-name-spn-checklist-for-kerberos-authentication-with-iis-7-0.aspx to no avail. My current server setup looks like the following: ARR Two servers set up with IIS shared configuration using IIS 7.5 on Windows 2008 R2 Anonymous authentication turned on for the Default Web Site Web Farm Two servers running IIS 7.5 on Windows 2008 R2 Three web sites set up using port binding to differentiate between virtual hosts. Ports being used are 8000, 8001, and 8002 Application pools for Windows Authentication all use a common domain account SPN added to domain account for http/<virthalhost-name>:<port-number> and http/<virtualhost-name>.<fully-qualified-domain>:<port-number> The IIS logs show the following when authentication is working/failing.     I just put my asp .net web service on a remote host. The service accesses an oracle db on my local machine. The service worked fine when it was running on localhost but since moving to a remote hos, I get The provider is not compatible with the version of Oracle client at Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleInit.Initialize() at Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleConnection..cctor() --- End of inner exception stack trace --- at Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleConnection..ctor(String connectionString) at.... I know the error is related to the data provider version running on the server/client. In my case, the only dll I referenced in the project was Oracle.DataAccess So how do I go about solving this? Note that I won't be able to change anything on the web host other than my own project. My local machine is running Oracle 11g Thanks.
