  • Displaying an image from the tmp directory

    I have the following. A website that create temporarily images in the /tmp folder on the Linux server. The reason why I store it within this folder is since these images need to be cleared once in a while and it's so much easier just to clear the tmp directory using tmpwatch. I've decided to solve this like this: Departments ID Description HeadOfDepartment ParentDepartment ParentDepartment can be null, indicating it is a root department.   • List<> of objects, different types, sort and pull out types individually?

    I've got a handful of products, any, all, or none of which may be associated with a specific submission. All 7 products are subclasses of the class Product. I need to store all the products associated with a submission, and then retrieve them and their field data on my presentation layer. I've been using a List, and List, but when I use the OfType, I throw an error saying that I can't implicitly convert systems.generic.IEnumerable to type 'Product'. I've tried to cast, but to no avail. When I use prodlist.OfType<EPL>(); there are no errors, but when I try and store that in an instance of EPL "tempEpl", I get the aforementioned cast-related error. What gives? Code below.     For a web application I switched from using ASP.NET Membership to using my own log in system which just does something like this to mark a user as logged in: Session["UserId"] = User.Id Is it possible to store the user id in the ASPXAUTH cookie, piggybacking on its encryption, instead of using the standard session? The goal is for the logged in state to last longer than a session and survive both browser and server restarts.

  • Converting LDAP from Tomcat to GlassFish

    Hi, I have a simple web-app that is developed in Netbeans(6.8) and works fine in Tomcat(6) using LDAP(Active Directory). I need to convert this to an EE (JSF2), so I am moving from Tomcat to GlassFish(v3). I have changed the web files to xhtml and configured the xml files. However, I cannot get the GlassFish LDAP configuration to authenticate. I am attaching my old web.xml and server.xml (from Tomcat) snippets and the portions of the new web.xml, sun-web.xml, and the GlassFish configuration. If anyone can help me figure out where I am missing the piece that will allow a user to be authenticated, I would appreciate it. (btw, I am not using roles, just authenticating against the LDAP db is good enought.) As it is right now, my app will prompt me to enter a user when I try to access a file in the 'protected' area and the GlassFish server throws an exception when it fails to authenticate. Because it works under Tomcat, I know I have the right information, I just don't know how to format it to get GlassFish to pass it along. Thanks.   • Determining line orientation using vertex shaders

    Hi, I want to be able to calculate the direction of a line to eye coordinates and store this value for every pixel on the line using a vertex and fragment shader. My idea was to calculate the direction gradient using atan2(Gy/Gx) after a modelview tranformation for each pair of vertices then quantize this value as a color intensity to pass to a fragment shader. How can I get access to the positions of pairs of vertices to achieve this or is there another method I should use? Thanks

    What is a good way to represent a collection of bits? I have a set of various on/off toggles (thousands of them) and need to store and retrieve their state. The naïve implementation would be an array of booleans, but I'm wondering if there's a better way (better in terms of access speed and/or memory requirements). I've found this BitArray implementation, but it's limited to 32 bits, which is not enough for this case.

I have the following line in my httpd.conf. Isn't this the line which makes sure php files are run using php?     I've been checking my application with linq 2 sql profiler, and I noticed that it opens a lot of datacontexts, most of them are opened by the linq datasource I used, since my repositories use only the instance stored in Request.Items, is it bad to open too many datacontext? and how can I make my linqdatasource to use the datacontext that I store in Request.Items for the duration of the request? thanks for any help!
