• miglayout: can't get right-alignment to work

  Something's not right here. I'm trying to get the rightmost button (labeled "help" in the example below) to be right-aligned to the JFrame, and the huge buttons to have their width tied to the JFrame but be at least 180px each. I got the huge button constraint to work, but not the right alignment. I thought the right alignment was accomplished by gapbefore push (as in this other SO question), but I can't figure it out. • How can I control the width of JTextFields in Java Swing?

  I am trying to have several JTextFields on a single row, but I don't want them to have the same width. How can I control the width and make some of them wider than others? I want that they together take up 100% of the total width, so it would be good if I could use some kind of weigthing. I have tried with .setColumns() but it doesn't make sense. • Linq 2 SQL Store inherited classes - not mapped to tables in the database

  Hi. I'm trying to introduce the Linq2SQL technique into the project and have encountered the following issue: I've created ORM classes based on the Northwind database. In some other application I create several classes derived from the Linq2SQL classes. I'm able to add such a class to EntitySet but the application fails to submit changes. Is there any way around this? Since I need to update existing entries I have to do something about that. As far as I can tell I have the following options: add/update the child entities in my PlayRepositories Add-Method restructure and rewrite ParsePlayInfo() so that get all the child entities first, add or update them and then create a new Play. The only problem I have here is that I wanted ParsePlayInfo() to be persistence ignorant, I could work around this by creating multiple parse methods (eg ParseActors() ) and assign them to play in my controller (I'm using ASP.net MVC) after everything was parsed and added Currently I am implementing option 1 - but it feels wrong. I'd appreciate it if someone could guide me in the right direction on this one.

• getView only shows Flagged Backgrounds for drawn Views, It does not show Flagged Background when scroll to view more items on list

  I am trying to create a listview that receives a flagged list of items to indicate a status to the user. I have been able to create the flag display by using a yellow background (see image at bottom). In Theory, the flagged list can have many flagged items in it. However in my app, only the first three flagged backgrounds are shown. I believe this is because they are initially drawn to the screen. The Flagged background that are not drawn initially to the screen do not show. I'd like to know how to get the remaining flags to show in the list. ListView Recycling: The backgrounds in the listView are being recycled in getView(). This recycling goes from position 0 to position 9. I have flags that need to match at positions 13, 14 and so on. Those positions are not being displayed. listView.getCheckedItemPositions() for multiple selections: This method will not work in my case because the user will not selected the flags. The flags are coming from the server. setNotifyOnChange() and/or public virtual void SetNotifyOnChange (bool notifyOnChange): I'm not adding new data to the list, so I don't see how this method would work for my program. Does this method communicate to getview when it is recycling data? I was unable to find an answer to this in my research. public void registerDataSetObserver: This may be overkill for my problem, but is it possible to have an observer object that keeps track of the all the positions in my items list and in my flag list no matter if the view is recycled and match them on the screen?   Sometimes I need to use several disposable objects within a function. Most common case is having StreamReader and StreamWriter but sometimes it's even more than this. Nested using statements quickly add up and look ugly.   Hi, We're currently working out how to implement MVVM and I've got to the point where I've got the MVVM Light Toolkit set up in blend and can specify dummy data to be supplied if running in Blend. All good. I've created a dummy list of data. The list contains 6 instances of a very simple class called DummyItem which has Age and Name properties. I'm trying to clean and disable the select2 with the content too so I do this: $("#select2id").empty(); $("#select2id").select2("disable"); Ok, it works, but if i had a value selected all the items are removed, the control is disabled, but the selected value is still displayed. I want to clear all content so the placeholder would be showed.   Hi, I'm making requests to the webaddress to get XML files throught the HTTPS connection. But this connection works like 50%. In most cases it fails. Usual error is "socket error #10060". Or "Error connecting with SSL. EOF was observed that violates the protocol".   As a workaround for a problem, I think I have to handle KeyDown events to get the printable character the user actually typed. KeyDown supplies me with a KeyEventArgs object with the properities KeyCode, KeyData, KeyValue, Modifiers, Alt, Shift, Control. My first attempt was just to consider the KeyCode to be the ascii code, but KeyCode on my keyboard is 46, a period ("."), so I end up printing a period when the user types the delete key. So, I know my logic is inadequate. (For those who are curious, the problem is that I have my own combobox in a DataGridView's control collection and somehow SOME characters I type don't produce the KeyPress and TextChanged ComboBox events. These letters include Q, $, %.... This code will reproduce the problem. Generate a Form App and replace the ctor with this code.   I'm building a small BigInt library in C++ for use in my programming language. The structure is like the following: short digits[ 1000 ]; int len; I have a function that converts a string into a bigint by splitting it up into single chars and putting them into digits. The numbers in digits are all reversed, so the number 123 would look like the following: digits[0]=3 digits[1]=3 digits[2]=1 I have already managed to code the adding function, which works perfectly. It works somewhat like this: overflow = 0 for i ++ until length of both numbers exceeded: add numberA[ i ] to numberB[ i ] add overflow to the result set overflow to 0 if the result is bigger than 10: substract 10 from the result overflow = 1 put the result into numberReturn[ i ] (Overflow is in this case what happens when I add 1 to 9: Substract 10 from 10, add 1 to overflow, overflow gets added to the next digit) So think of how two numbers are stored, like those: 0 | 1 | 2 --------- A 2 - - B 0 0 1 The above represents the digits of the bigints 2 (A) and 100 (B). - means uninitialized digits, they aren't accessed. So adding the above number works fine: start at 0, add 2 + 0, go to 1, add 0, go to 2, add 1 But: When I want to do multiplication with the above structure, my program ends up doing the following: Start at 0, multiply 2 with 0 (eek), go to 1, ... So it is obvious that, for multiplication, I have to get an order like this: 0 | 1 | 2 --------- A - - 2 B 0 0 1 Then, everything would be clear: Start at 0, multiply 0 with 0, go to 1, multiply 0 with 0, go to 2, multiply 1 with 2 How can I manage to get digits into the correct form for multiplication? I don't want to do any array moving/flipping - I need performance!

• VS2010 final does only link project on "rebuild all", not on "build changed"

  I've just migrated a solution containing c++ and c# projects from VS2008 to VS2010 and got a strange problem. When I select "rebuild all", everything compiles and links as I would expect it to do. Then I change some c++ source file (just add a space), build the project, I get several thousands of linking errors like these: GDlgPackerListe.obj : error LNK2028: Nicht aufgelöstes Token (0A0000C7) ""public: bool __thiscall LList::Add(class LBString const &)" (?Add@LList@@$$FQAE_NABVLBString@@@Z)", auf das in Funktion ""public: virtual void __thiscall LRcPackerListe::HookRunReport(class LFortschritt &)" (?HookRunReport@LRcPackerListe@@$$FUAEXAAVLFortschritt@@@Z)" verwiesen wird. When I hit "rebuild all" it recompiles and links without any errors or even warnings and produces a working exe. I'm using Visual Studio 2010 final (german edition). Whats going on here? Or, more important: how do I get the linker to work correctly??
