    I'm using google maps. In my code i've used setCenter() function. My problem is that marker is always located on top left corner of map area (not at the center). Please tell me how to resolve it?     I was trying to integrate django-voting into my project following the RedditStyleVoting instruction. In my urls.py, i did something like this: url(r'^sections/(?P<object_id>\d+)/(?P<direction>up|down|clear)vote/?$', vote_on_object, dict( model=Section, template_object_name='section', template_name='script/section_confirm_vote.html', allow_xmlhttprequest=True ), name="section_vote", then, in my template: {% vote_by_user user on section as vote %} {% score_for_object section as score %} {% vote_by_user user on section as vote %} {% score_for_object section as score %} {{ score.score|default:0 }} It takes over 1.3s to load the page, but by hard coding it like this: {% vote_by_user user on section as vote %} {% score_for_object section as score %} {{ score.score|default:0 }} I got 50ms. Just avoid the url tag resolving stuff I got a 20+ times performance improvement. Is there something I did wrong? If not, then what's the best practice here, should we do things the right way or the fast way?

  • C++: Comparing list of doubles with some invalid values (QNAN)

    Hello, i need to compare two std::list < double , but some doubles may be invalid numbers (QNAN). If any invalid numbers are list entries the compare process won't work, because a comparison of the same invalid value will always result in 'false'. What is the easiest and most elegant way to solve the problem? My idea was to create copies of both lists, iterate through them and remove invalid values and then compare the remaining lists. The lists will typically have 20-50 values in them. Is there a more resource friendly way to solve it?

  • OpenGL Performance Questions

    This subject, as with any optimisation problem, gets hit on a lot, but I just couldn't find what I (think) I want. A lot of tutorials, and even SO questions have similar tips; generally covering: Use GL face culling (the OpenGL function, not the scene logic) Only send 1 matrix to the GPU (projectionModelView combination), therefore decreasing the MVP calculations from per vertex to once per model (as it should be). Use interleaved Vertices Minimize as many GL calls as possible, batch where appropriate And possibly a few/many others. I am (for curiosity reasons) rendering 28 million triangles in my application using several vertex buffers. I have tried all the above techniques (to the best of my knowledge), and received almost no performance change. Whilst I am receiving around 40FPS in my implementation, which is by no means problematic, I am still curious as to where these optimisation 'tips' actually come into use? My CPU is idling around 20-50% during rendering, therefore I assume I am GPU bound for increasing performance. Note: I am looking into gDEBugger at the moment Cross posted at Game Development

  • PHP Possible Memory Leak

    I have a script that loops through a database for images to convert with gd & imagick. I unset or replace all variables and objects in between each loop. For each loop, get_memory_usage(1) reveals a concurrent amount of memory used by that script. Which is expected. But, when I run "top", the %MEM column reports that this script, (same PID), increments with several percentages for each loop. I destroy all images when I'm done with them, and when I run get_defined_vars(); only the standard globals and a few variables I have is set. Why is "top" % Memory Usage different than what PHP reports? After 10 loops, PHP has taken 20% percetage of the system memory. I run php 5.2.6 on Debian 5

    Hello, I'm stumbling in the data wilderness and feel very lost, so i am asking for help. I have done some database apps in VS (C#) winforms for some time, wpf lately. These are small to medium apps (embedded dbs, a bit of sql server), like a restaurants, cash registers and similar. (15-20 tables) Until now, i have done all my datasets by drag and drop in Visual Studio designer. I spent weeks on web trying to find some complete solution how to write complete solution with typed datasets by hand from scratch (DAL, B.Objects) in hope to learn some architecture patterns along the way, but without success. So, finally question. Can someone recommend me what to learn for this type of applications, maybe move away from datasets , use some ORM ( maybe overkill, i dont know). Point me in some direction please.

But the first query dont work. How to force string arguments to fn:max?

    I have a draggable div, that needs to be dropped on a droppable. If it is dropped correctly, the droppable calls an AJAX request. If the draggable does not have a valid id or the AJAX request fails, the draggable should be reverted to it's original position. Is that something that can be done with jQuery?!   • Python IPC, popen too slow

    i need to run a subprocess (./myProgram) form python script and get output, actually i do this: import subprocess proc = subprocess.Popen('./generate_out', shell=False, stdout=subprocess.PIPE, ) while proc.poll() is None: out = proc.stdout.readline() data = doStuff(out) print(data) but is slow, sometimes pass a lot of time between the output produced by ./generate_out and the print(data), knowing that my doStuff() function is very fast, i think there is some buffer slowing down my pipe... Notes: ./generate_out, generates potentially an unlimited number of lines of finite length each. It seems that when too few chars are put in the pipe between the two processes nothing happens, then when enough is produced i get a huge print (non the expected behaviour!) sometimes i wait many seconds (10-20 and more) between generate_out print and python print) what can i do? maybe communicate() is faster? anithing else? Thank you a lot!

    We are storing people's class attendance information to Drupal. We would like to show this in a grid/chart, where the first column of each row shows person's name, and rest of the columns (ca. 20) either a checkbox or "X" if the user attended a class, or otherwise an non-checked box or empty column: (dates here) Jack X XXX X X Jill XX XXX XX It should also be possible to edit the attendance information on the grid. Each attendance information is a node of its own. This functionality can probably mostly be achieved using views and editablefields, but there is one problem: if a person has not attended a specific class he/she will not have at all an attendace node for that day. What would be the easiest way to create an attendace node in those cases, so that it would be possible for the end user to edit the grid by just clicking on the checkbox or typing an 'X'?

    I'm trying to compare 2 dates using javascript. 1 at the end of the month and 1 at the beginning. I need to compare these 2 dates in seconds so I'm using the Date.UTC javascript function. Here's the code: var d = Date.UTC(2010,5,31,23,59,59); document.write(d); var d2 = Date.UTC(2010,6,1,12,20,11); document.write(d2); The output for is: 1278028799000 1277986811000 This is telling me that 1/6/2010 is less than 5/31/2010 in milliseconds. How is that possible? What am I doing wrong? Thanks for your help.

    I need to have text IDs in my application. For example, we have acceptable charset azAZ09, and allowed range of IDs [aaa] - [cZ9]. First generated id would be aaa, then aab, aac, aad e.t.c. How one can return ID & increment lower bound in transaction-fashion? (provided that there are hundreds of concurrent requests and all should have correct result) To lower the load I guess it's possible to define say 20 separate ranges, and return id from random range - this should reduce contention, but it's not clear how to do single operation in the first place. Also, please note that number of IDs in range might exceed 2^32. Another idea is having ranges of 64-bit integers, and converting integer-char id in software code, where it could be done asyncroniously. Any ideas?

I think 2g working with lags always. I've use one UIImageView and loading images in NStimer callback by UIImage:imageWithContentOfFile. I Have a datacontext that has a "getuserbyguid" method, i want to pass in the current logged in user.userid as a parameter, but I don't know how to bind to the current logged in user through xaml. I've tried {Binding Path=User.UserId} but without any luck. I'm using the built in riaservices authentication methods, so the userinfo should be exposed in the riacontext, or am I wrong about this?     Hi, I use syntax like name varchar(20) NOT NULL in mysql..i have a big confusion over here. typically does it mean that this field is mandatory? but when i store a space in this field it accepts it.is it correct. its like while insert i say '".$_POST['name']."'. even if the name does not have any value query is executed. can any1 just clarify me on this ? is NULL and blank space same ?

  • What is Perl's secret of getting small code do so much?

    I've seen many (code-golf) Perl programs out there and even if I can't read them (Don't know Perl) I wonder how you can manage to get such a small bit of code to do what would take 20 lines in some other programming language. What is the secret of Perl? Is there a special syntax that allows you to do complex tasks in few keystrokes? Is it the mix of regular expressions? I'd like to learn how to write powerful and yet short programs like the ones you know from the code-golf challenges here. What would be the best place to start out? I don't want to learn "clean" Perl - I want to write scripts even I don't understand anymore after a week. If there are other programming languages out there with which I can write even shorter code, please tell me.
