  • How to truly remove all references from VS 2008 project?

    I have a Visual Studio 2008 project that has a reference to a dll. I removed the reference to version 1 and added a new reference to version 2. The project builds successfully, however when I analyze the project dll after it has been built in Reflector I am seeing that it is holding onto two references to the same dll - version 1 and version 2 are both referenced.

    Hi, I have created a Report using Crystal Report(Visual Studio 2005 and .NET Framework 2.0). In the Report Header section I have added a TextBox control to display header for the report.     I have applied a color theme called Vibrant Ink (or some modification of it), and since I installed Visual Studio 2010 Pro Power Tools all my statement completion boxes are undreadable. What setting changes the colors of these boxes? Preferrably, I'd like to change the background color to something darker, but if that's not possible at least I want to change the text color.

On the time of the development of website I am able to access the database.. but after publishing the site using IIS7..i was unable to access the database..the exception occured during that time was "the connection is in the closed state".in IIS7 When I changed the application pool identity to localsystem, it worked. Data base is installed in the same machine. and server is SQL SERVER 2008 R2

  • DDEX Firebird editing queries duplicates columns in Visual Studio 2008

    Hello everybody! I don't know if some of you also has experienced it but when I edit a query in Visual Studio (it uses DDEX 2.0.5 for accessing the Firebird 2.5 database), it duplicates some of the columns. What's really interesting is the fact that only System.Boolean columns are duplicated: Originally, there was only ,for instance, a 'PRO_DELETED' field... Now I wanted to sort my results by this field - I had to change the select statement in the so-called QueryBuilder by adding "ORDER BY PRO_DELETED" ...After clicking OK it somehow created a new column (!?) called 'PRO_DELETED1' My question is: Why does DDEX add such a new row to the column view and why can't I access the original PRO_DELETED field anymore? I need to store the entered sign up credentials in any database(Oracle, Service based database, local database).     How do I make extra initializations on a modal dialog before calling DoModal(); ? The whole application is created using VS wizards. I have a main Dialog (the one that is created automatically when I select new MFC Application in Visual Studio 2008 Professional). When I click a button on this dialog I want to open another dialog and set a CString value into a CEdit control. my code: ... void MainDlg::OnClickedButtonX(){ SecondDialogClass Dlg2; Dlg2.asocVar2Cedit.SetWindowTextW(L"my text"); Dlg2.DoModal(); } //asocVar2Cedit is the associeted control variable to the //CEdit control on the second Dialog (Right Click > Add Variable.. in VSC++) ... this code generates at runtime a "Debug Assertion" error in winocc...   • How to find where program crashed

    I have a program that crashes (attempting to read a bad memory address) while running the "release" version but does not report any problems while running the "debug" version in the visual studio debugger. When the program crashes the OS asks if I'd like to open up the debugger, and if I say yes then I see an arrow pointing to where I am in a listing of some assembler which I am not skilled enough to read properly (I learned 6502 assembler 30 years ago). Is there any way for my to determine where in my sourcecode the offending memory read was located?

  • Expression Studio - v2 good enough for learning?

    I have VS 2008, and looking forward to moving fairly quickly to VS2010. Our applications (we only have a few) are all winforms apps - mostly VB. I want to start to learn WPF. My version of Expression Studio is version 2. I have heard that the improvements made from version 2 to version 3 are significant. If it follows the paradigm of version 3 being the adult app (past the infancy of version 1 and the awkwardness of version 2), then I suppose it would be worth the investment to get it before starting to learn. But, unless my company was willing to pay, I am hoping to keep costs low. Can anyone share some experience - is version 2 good enough to learn on, or should I bite the bullet and smooth my learning experience by going with version 3? Thanks!

  • "Could not load" error whenever I click a work item.

    I have recently installed Team Explorer on one of my machines that has Visual Studio 2008 SP1 installed. But know whenever I click a work item or trying to open a team query I get the following error: Could not load type 'Microsoft.TeamFoundation.WorkItemTracking.Client.WorkItemTypeDeniedOrNotExistException' from assembly 'Microsoft.TeamFoundation.WorkItemTracking.Client, Version=9.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a' I even repaired the installation of Team Explorer 2008 but it does not solve my problem. Does anybody know how can I get rid of this error? Thanks.

  • Adding web reference is not generating the expected reference.cs file. Absent functions.

    I'm working with an old windows app in visual studio 2005. A webserviced referenced in the original app has 2 functions and when i peak inside the auto-generated reference.cs file I notice a couple of other functions to allow async calls have been geenrated i.e. BeginWhateverFunctionNameIsCalled and EndWhateverFunctionNameIsCalled. My problem is that I've created a new windows app and added the same web references but the Begin and End functions are not generated in my reference.cs proxy class. Anyone know whats going on?

  • Show Visualizers Error "could not load this custom viewer"

    When I try to inspect DataSet by standard DataSet visualizer I see this error "could not load this custom viewer". I wrote simple dataset visualizer, but error throws anyway too. On other computers with the same configuration visualizer show without any errors. OS: Windows 7 x86 (Release) VS: Visual Studio 2010 RC has somebody any ideas? I reinstall VS with no effect.
