• Activate COM object using website doesn't work in Windows 2003 server

  I have been trying really hard to activate and launch a COM object using an ASP.NET web application. The aspx website has a code-behind file that has a reference to this COM object (which is an actual application - a CAD software). When required, the VB code creates (or launches) the application. The complete set-up works in a Win-XP (32-bit) environment both under debugging using visual studio and when the website is accessed by an outside user (through IIS server in XP). But the same application doesn't get activated when it is hosted onto the Win-2003 (32-bit) IIS server. I get "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" error. The way I have setup in Win-XP was to grant ASP user and Internet guest user permissions to the COM object in the DCOM Config and since the windows firewall is enabled, I add the exe file (associated with the COM object) to the exception list. For the case of Win-2003 server, I add the Network Service permission to the COM object. But the setup doesn't seem to work at all. I am not sure what I am missing and how to get the application to launch. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

  Hey all! Just curious what your naming conventions are for the following: Repository name Branches Tags Right now, we're employing the following standards with SVN, but would like to improve on it: Each project has its own repository Each repository has a set of directories: tags, branches, trunk Tags are immutable copies of the the tree (release, beta, rc, etc.) Branches are typically feature branches Trunk is ongoing development (quick additions, bug fixes, etc.) Now, with that said, I'm curious how everyone is not only handling the naming of their repositories, but also their tags and branches. For example, do you employ a camel case structure for the project name? So, if your project is something like Backyard Baseball for Youngins, how do you handle that? backyardBaseballForYoungins backyard_baseball_for_youngins BackyardBaseballForYoungins backyardbaseballforyoungins That seems rather trivial, but it's a question. If you're going with the feature branch paradigm, how do you name your feature branches? After the feature itself in plain English? Some sort of versioning scheme? I.e. say you want to add functionality to the Backyard Baseball app that allows users to add their own statistics. What would you call your branch? {repoName}/branches/user-add-statistics {repoName}/branches/userAddStatistics {repoName}/branches/user_add_statistics etc. Or: {repoName}/branches/1.1.0.1 If you go the version route, how do you correlate the version numbers? It seems that feature branches wouldn't benefit much from a versioning schema, being that 1 developer could be working on the "user add statistics" functionality, and another developer could be working on the "admin add statistics" functionality. How are these do branch versions named? Are they better off being: {repoName}/branches/1.1.0.1 - user add statistics {repoName}/branches/1.1.0.2 - admin add statistics And once they're merged into the trunk, the trunk might increment appropriately? Tags seem like they'd benefit the most from version numbers. With that being said, how are you correlating the versions for your project (whether it be trunk, branch, tag, etc.) with SVN? I.e. how do you, as the developer, know that 1.1.1 has admin add statistics, and user add statistics functionality? How are these descriptive and linked? It'd make sense for tags to have release notes in each tag since they're immutable. But, yeah, what are your SVN policies going forward?

Eclipse DOES NOT recognize Datanucleus has a PLUGIN, with versions of DN newer than 1.1.0m3 :-( The JARS i currently use, and the LAST ONES being recognized has plugins by eclipse (copied directly to \eclipse\plugins folder) are from datanucleus-accessplatform-rdbms-1.1.0.m3 Specific bundles: datanucleus-rdbms-1.1.0.m3.jar datanucleus-connectionpool-1.0.0.jar datanucleus-core-1.1.0.m3.jar datanucleus-enhancer-1.1.0.m1.jar IS there ANYONE out there using DATANUCLEUS with ECLIPSE?   I have been trying to get information regarding expired ssl certificates using python 3 but it would be nice to be able to get as verbose a workup as possible. any takers? So far i have been trying to use urllib.request to get this info (to no avail), does this strike anyone as foolish?   I have the classic setup public class Parent { Integer id; ... // No generics Collection someCollectionAttribute; ... public void setChildren(Collection c) { ... } } public class Child { Integer id; ... } and I'm trying to map this on the usual table setup using iBatis (version 2.30... don't ask). create table parents ( ID integer primary key ... ) create table children ( ID integer primary key PARENT_ID integer references parents(id) ... ) My mapping file looks like this <resultMap id="ParentResult" groupBy="id"> <result property="id" column="ID" /> ... <result property="children" resultMap="ChildResult" /> </resultMap> <resultMap id="ChildResult"> <result property="id" column="ID" /> <result property="parentId" column="PARENT_ID" /> ... </result> <sql id="loadParent" resultMap="ParentResult"> select P.ID as p1, ..., C.ID as c1, C.PARENT_ID as c2 ... from parents P join children C on (P.ID = C.PARENT_ID) where P.ID = #id# order by P.ID </sql> Doing the usual sqlMap.queryForObject("loadParent", new Integer(42)) at first caused a NullPointerException inside the setChildren setter which apparently is called with a null argument (my bad). Fixing the setter everything works fine, but the logs show that setChildren is called only once before even running a single SQL statement, still with a null argument, so I'm wondering what's going on here. Anyone has any clues?

• file layout and setuptools configuration for the python bit of a multi-language library

  So we're writing a full-text search framework MongoDb. MongoDB is pretty much javascript-native, so we wrote the javascript library first, and it works. Now I'm trying to write a python framework for it, which will be partially in python, but partially use those same stored javascript functions - the javascript functions are an intrinsic part of the library. On the other hand, the javascript framework does not depend on python. since they are pretty intertwined it seems like it's worthwhile keeping them in the same repository. I'm trying to work out a way of structuring the whole project to give the javascript and python frameworks equal status (maybe a ruby driver or whatever in the future?), but still allow the python library to install nicely. Currently it looks like this: (simplified a little) javascript/jstest/test1.js javascript/mongo-fulltext/search.js javascript/mongo-fulltext/util.js python/docs/indext.rst python/tests/search_test.py python/tests/__init__.py python/mongofulltextsearch/__init__.py python/mongofulltextsearch/mongo_search.py python/mongofulltextsearch/util.py python/setup.py I've skipped out a few files for simplicity, but you get the general idea; it' a pretty much standard python project... except that it depends critcally ona whole bunch of javascript which is stored in a sibling directory tree. What's the preferred setup for dealing with this kind of thing when it comes to setuptools? I can work out how to use package_data etc to install data files that live inside my python project as per the setuptools docs. The problem is if i want to use setuptools to install stuff, including the javascript files from outside the python code tree, and then also access them in a consistent way when I'm developing the python code and when it is easy_installed to someone's site. Is that supported behaviour for setuptools? Should i be using paver or distutils2 or Distribute or something? (basic distutils is not an option; the whole reason I'm doing this is to enable requirements tracking) How should i be reading the contents of those files into python scripts?

• UIpopover is presenting user with a 'done' button that I can't get rid of

  I'm not sure why this is coming up I am porting my app into an ipad version and moving one of my views which happens to be a navigation controller into a uipopover. I did have a uibarbutton item on the view im porting with a "done" button to dismiss the navcontroller but I commented out that code and its still appearing, not sure why. I remember someone mentioning some versions of xcode are wonky with uipopovers anyone know which ones? im using 3.2.3

• Using sem_t in a Qt Project

  Hi everyone, I'm working on a simulation in Qt (C++), and would like to make use of a Semaphore wrapper class I made for the sem_t type. Although I am including semaphore.h in my wrapper class, running qmake provides the following error: 'sem_t does not name a type' I believe this is a library/linking error, since I can compile the class without problems from the command line. I've read that you can specify external libraries to include during compilation. However, I'm a) not sure how to do this in the project file, and b) not sure which library to include in order to access semaphore.h. Any help would be greatly appreciated. • msysgit - sh.exe - fork: Permission denied - Vista 64 bit

  I installed msysgit on other Windows machines with no problems. On this Vista 64 bit Ultimate box, I installed the 3 most recent versions of msysgit. On all three installs, when I do a "git bash here", I get exactly this on the command window: sh.exe": fork: Permission denied sh.exe"-3.1$ NThe git command doesn't work. I get the same permission denied message. Any clues as to how to fix this?

  I am using Symfony 1.3.2 with Propel ORM on Ubuntu 9.10. I am incorporating memcache to the website. Does anyone know how to resolve this (I suspect its something to do with Linux user privileges). As an aside, I am aware that SF prvoides an sfAPCache wrapper class for cacheing. I am intentionally not using it for two reasons: I cannot find any comprehensive (and up to date) docs on this class I want to learn the memcache API directly, since I will be accesing it from other languages.

Based on my understanding I am to convert the number to binary but how do I find the cube of a number in binary. Also, how do I write the cube on the tape. So far I'm thinking I should create a state diagram that accepts the binary versions of 0-9 but what next?

• How to deploy on a remote machine using hudson's WAS Builder Plugin?

  I have a hudson build server (Windows) that does not have Websphere installed. I created a Hudson node that I connect to via SSH. I also installed the WAS Builder Plugin to run jython scripts on the AIX machine. The job that uses the WAS Builder Plugin is tied to the AIX box. I run into errors. Does anybody know, whether that setup might work or if a different setup will work for the WAS Builder Plugin? • Google App Engine: JDO does the job, JPA does not

  I have setup a project using both Jdo and Jpa. I used Jpa Annotation to Declare my Entity. Then I setup my testCases based on LocalTestHelper (from Google App Engine Documentation). When I run the test, a call to makePersistent of Jdo:PersistenceManager is perfectly OK; a call to persist of Jpa:EntityManager raised an error: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Type ("org.seamoo.persistence.jpa.model.ExampleModel") is not that of an entity but needs to be for this operation at org.datanucleus.jpa.EntityManagerImpl.assertEntity(EntityManagerImpl.java:888) at org.datanucleus.jpa.EntityManagerImpl.persist(EntityManagerImpl.java:385) Caused by: org.datanucleus.exceptions.NoPersistenceInformationException: The class "org.seamoo.persistence.jpa.model.ExampleModel" is required to be persistable yet no Meta-Data/Annotations can be found for this class. The last time I configured arrival and departure datepickers, they had a "Clear" button. Does anyone know if this changed between versions or is it still built-in? If anyone has examples of the top area ( excluding the bottom since that's extra work for me ) I would greatly appreciate it.

  We have our own fonts for our application. We are using Windows Vista operating system to develop the Reports using iReport. We are using iReports 3.7.1. I kept all my fonts in a folder in C:\ drive. I gave fonts path in iReport. Still I am getting 'Could not load the font' error while generating the report. The same worked fine on Windows 2000 and with iReport 2.x versions.

• Problems with zend-tool reporting that providers are not valid

  I have recently setup XAMPP 1.7.3 and ZendFramework 1.10.4 on a new computer and many of the commands that I normally use now fail. Here are the steps I used to setup and test ZF. First I added the ZF library folder (C:\xampp\php\ZendFramework-1.10.4\library) to the include path in php.ini. Then I added the ZF bin folder (C:\xampp\php\ZendFramework-1.10.4\bin) to my Path system variable. To test that everything is configured correctly I ran the command "zf show version" from the command line. The result is "Zend Framework Version: 1.9.6". Immediately something appears to be wrong. The file that is downloaded is "ZendFramework-1.10.4.zip" and the reported version is 1.9.6. I have re-downloaded the latest version (1.10.4) and removed old copy. Still the incorrect version number problem persisted. Having done some research there is a bug in the ZF knowledgebase that version 1.10.3 reports a wrong version number. So that may explain the version number problem. Moving forward I tried to run some zf-tool commands and certain commands reports that the action or provider is not valid. Example: C:\xampp\htdocs>zf create project test Creating project at C:/xampp/htdocs/test C:\xampp\htdocs>cd test C:\xampp\htdocs\test>zf create controller Test Creating a controller at C:\xampp\htdocs\test/application/controllers/TestController.php ... • Segmentation fault when creating a Phonon MediaObject

  I have music playing program made using PySide which uses Phonon to playback audio. I updated to MacOS X Mavericks a few days ago, which meant I needed to reinstall PySide. I'm not sure which of these actions has caused this, but now whenever I try to create a Phonon MediaObject I get a Segmentation Fault: 11 from Python. It's not just in my program, it happens when trying to create a MediaObject in Python without any other actions.   In our application we have many versions of the same routine optimized for different kind of processor architectures. During install we run performance tests and select the best version of routine. Latest processors can boost their frequencies if few cores are in use, so sometimes our tests peeking wrong version of routine. Is there some way to temporarily turn off Turbo Boost?
