  • How do I get VDPAU working with Ubuntu 9.10?

    What do I need to do to get MKV HD videos playing with VDPAU and also Blu-ray discs? Lots of people say you need to compile the latest MPlayer (which I haven't had luck doing) for VDPAU. I found an mplayer ppa that says it has VDPAU compiled into it so I'd like to use that. What packages do I need for playing MKV files and Blu-ray with the video decoding offloaded to my GPU? So far I haven't had any luck with any of the tutorials I've found. I'm just looking for a quick synopsis that will tell me what I'm looking for as I'm kind of shooting in the dark. (I didn't know what VDPAU was until a few days ago.)

  • Slow editor in Eclipse Galileo

    Since I updated Eclipse from Ganymede to Galileo on Mac OS X 10.5, the editor is incredible slow, independently of the programming language: I tried Python and PHP, and for both, the editor scrolling is very slow, like on a very old computer (I'm using am up-to-date Macbook). Any idea where I could tweak it?

Checking the IIS logs all indicate that the (internet) requests are all coming the correct client on the internet (i.e. not from some intermediate proxy). Since the file doesn't exist on the hard drive anymore, i conclude that there is a proxy. The requests serviced from this proxy are not logged in the IIS logs. The requests for new files are logged, and from the client IP, not a proxy IP. The proxy is case sensitivie. This does not sound like something Microsoft, or IIS, would do: - a transparent proxy - case-sensitivie - unlogged - surviving restarts of IIS - surviving in a cache for hours i can't believe that our customer's IIS is doing these things. i'm assuming there is some other transparent proxy in front of IIS. Or, does IIS have a transparent, unlogged, case-sensitive, memory based, proxy, that caches content for at least 7 hours? (Come Monday morning, IIS is serving the correct file, unlogged).

  • Visio 2010 Reverse Engineer Oracle

    I have used Visio 2007 in the past to reverse engineer Oracle databases to get a flow scheme. I believe all Office 2007 products were x86 as well which is where I suspect my issue currently lies. I have since upgraded to Visio 2010 x64 and when I go to reverse engineer something from Oracle it shows up under Installed Visio Drivers but I can't seem to create a data source using it. My assumption here is it is because Oracle doesn't play nicely with x64 and with Visio being compiled as x64 I don't even get the option to use it. Has anyone done this with Visio 2010 x64 and Oracle yet? Or are there other tools you would recommend to reverse engineer and get a model such as the one generated by Visio?

  • Spell check doesn't work in protected forms in Word 2011 for Mac

    We have a form template many staff members use. We created it in Word 2004 for Mac, and I was told a shortcoming was there was no way to turn on the spell checker (a real hassle!). I hoped this would be fixed in 2011, but when I open the form and save it as a .docx, the spell check still doesn't work. Many menu choices, including Language and Spelling and Grammar are grayed. Is there any way to get spell check in a protected, fillable form?

  • Apache 2.0.55/PHP 5.3.5 Hangs

    Recently inherited a Windows 2k3 server running XAMPP, including ancient copies of PHP, MySQL and Apache. I'm attempting to install a second, up-to-date PHP installation on the machine so I can reference that in future instead of XAMPP's old one. Apache starts up with this new PHP installation happily. Unfortunately, when Apache references the new PHP install, whenever I try a view a page (even a non-PHP page) it hangs. The server simply doesn't respond to any HTTP request - it doesn't crash either. It just sits there with the connection open. There are no errors/warnings/notices in either the PHP or Apache logs. I've pretty much ruled out PHP's extensions (by process of systematic elimination) and most of the INI settings. I've tried reinstalling PHP from scratch. The PHP installation is PHP 5.3.5 x86 thread-safe compiled w/ VC6. The Apache installation is Apache 2.0.55. Anyone encountered similar behaviour?

  • Fabric doesn't launch Nginx remotely

    I want to be able to start and stop an nginx server on an Ubuntu EC2 instance with Fabric. I have this two scripts in my fabfile.py: def start_nginx(): sudo('/etc/init.d/nginx start') #also tried this: run('sudo /etc/init.d/nginx start') def stop_nginx(): sudo('/etc/init.d/nginx stop') The start_nginx() seemingly runs without errors (* Starting Nginx Server.../ ...done.) but doesn't start the server (or it dies immediately). If I SSH into the instance this starts nginx perfectly: sudo /etc/init.d/nginx start The stop_nginx() Fabric script stops the server remotely. I compiled nginx from source, using this http://nginx.org/download/nginx-1.1.9.tar.gz and using this script in /etc/init.d: https://github.com/JasonGiedymin/nginx-init-ubuntu/blob/master/nginx. The only thing I modified is this line: DAEMON=/usr/local/sbin/nginx to DAEMON=/usr/sbin/nginx because that's the path I used when I ./configure-d my compile. Does anyone have any idea why the init script behaves differently being called from Fabric?

I selected "Installer disc image," and it came up and said that it would use "Easy Install," I think I hit next, and then I went back changed my mind, and selected "I will install the operating system later." After finishing the wizard, I think it still went and ran Easy Install, because it auto-installed VMware tools and I never got to select anything for my windows setup. Then, when it was finished, all the hardware changes I had made were lost. The RAM was changed from 2 GB back to the default of 1 GB, my CD ROM drive was set back to "Use a Physical Drive" and "Connect at Power On", and the Floppy Drive was also set to "Connect at Power On", after I disabled them. I was trying to install Windows 7, and I wasn't sure if I could change the RAM settings after installation without needing to reactivate it, so I deleted the VM and tried to start over. This time, the "Installer disc image" had my Win7 image pre-selected, so I clicked "I will install it myself later," set my hardware again, and tried to boot off my CD. Again,it did an Easy Install, and reset my RAM and my drive settings. So I deleted it again and the third time it still had the Win7 image pre-selected, but this time I unplugged all the drives and let it try to boot off the empty harddrive and fail, and made sure it kept all my hardware settings. Then, I powered it off, put my Win7 image in the guest CD ROM, and powered it on. This time it finally let me run the installer and pick my language, and type a user name. This time when I powered it off it kept my hardware settings. I can duplicate the error by doing exactly the steps above. Creating a new VM, selecting my "Installer Image," hitting next, going back, selecting "I will Install it myself," and then finish the wizard, and customizing my hardware right before the end, setting the CD Rom drive to the same installer media, and setting "Connect on Power On." (If I start it without the CD ROM in the first time, it doesn't do it). When I power on, I'm not prompted for any install information (like language and user name), and when it runs the first timemy hardware choices are reset (like the RAM back to 1 GB).     I'm trying to install a second version of PHP, to run alongside the current version of php. I've compiled the latest php source from github (5.5-DEV), and I'm trying to run it as CGI. I would like to have the different versions of php on different virtual hosts

    I installed Windows 7 with the QWERTY keyboard layout, but have recently started using DVORAK layout so I changed it from Control Panel - Regional and Language Settings and it set DVORAK to default keyboard layout. Recently I added a password to log into the administrator account, the problem is that this password field is set to the QWERTY keyboard layout. When I log into Windows the keyboard layout switches back to DVORAK. How can I set the password field on the log in screen to use the DVORAK layout

  • Debugging problems in Visual Studio 2005 - No source code available for the current location

    Hi all I've searched up and down Google for others with a similar problem, and while I can find the error I don't think that other people have the same base problem that I do. Basically, I had to create a project for a unit-testing environment in order to run this test suite. First, I add my original C file, compile, and then a test file (C++) is generated. I then exclude my original source from the project, include this test script (which includes the original source at the top), and then run. I can debug the test file fine, but when it jumps to the original C file I get the dreaded 'no source code available for the current location' error. Both files are located within the same location, and I compiled the original file without any issue. Anybody have any thoughts about this? Its driving me crazy!

    I installed the apache dev headers: sudo apt-get install apache2-prefork-dev Downloaded and compiled the module as outlined here: http://tn123.ath.cx/mod_xsendfile/ Added the following line to /etc/apache2/mods-available/xsendfile.load: LoadModule xsendfile_module /usr/lib/apache2/modules/mod_xsendfile.so Added this to my VirtualHost: <VirtualHost *:80> XSendFile on XSendFilePath /path/to/protected/files/ Enabled the module by doing: sudo a2enmod xsendfile Then I restarted Apache. Then this code still just provides me with an empty file with 0 bytes: file_path = '/path/to/protected/files/some_file.zip' file_name = 'some_file.zip' response = HttpResponse('', mimetype='application/zip') response['Content-Disposition'] = 'attachment; filename=%s' % smart_str(file_name) response['X-Sendfile'] = smart_str(file_path) return response And there is not in the Apache error log that pertains to XSendFile. What am I doing wrong?

  • I need a few minutes of dedicated server a week, but not for hosting, just to convert ogg etc.

    I'm completely happy with my webhosting, it's just that I need to do one little thing they won't allow, and that's run an instance of Sox to convert about 30 mp3s to ogg files, in various directories, a couple of times a week, to be done automatically in response to the detection of the upload of an mp3. Probably looking at a minute of server time over the whole week. I've had unhelpful suggestions on other forums like "why not leave your home PC on 24 hours a day and then use all your isp bandwidth to do this", which doesn't work for me. I know that I can host files on, say, Amazon S3, but is there something similar for my needs? All it would need to do would be: wget/ftp the mp3 files, convert them to ogg, ftp the files back to my hosting. Of course, all this wouldn't be needed if there was such a thing as a compiled binary of Sox (or any mp3ogg converter) for Centos which I could upload without needing root access, but I've given up asking that one, but always open to suggestions!

    Hi all, Does anyone know if there is limit on how many wmic requests Windows can handle simultaneously if they are originating from a Windows service? The reason I'm asking is because my application fails when too many simultaneous requests have been initiated. I don't get any data back from the application. However, If I compile the Python application and run it as a stand alone application all will work fine. The wmic calls are looking like this: subprocess.Popen("wmic path Win32_PerfFormattedData_PerfOS_Memory get CommittedBytes", stdout=subprocess.PIPE, stderr=subprocess.PIPE) This makes me wonder, is there a limit Windows Services and what they can perform? I mean, if the .exe file can handle all requests, then it must be something to do with the fact that I have compiled it as a Windows service.

    We all know mkfifo and pipelines. The first one creates a named pipe, thus one has to select a name, most likely with mktemp and later remember to unlink. The other creates an anonymous pipe, no hassle with names and removal, but the ends of the pipe get tied to the commands in the pipeline, it isn't really convenient to somehow get a grip of the file descriptors and use them in the rest of the script. In a compiled program, I would just do ret=pipe(filedes); in Bash there is exec 5<>file so one would expect something like "exec 5<> -" or "pipe <5 >6" -is there something like that in Bash?

    I want a test- and development-environment for web using Apache, PHP and MySQL. I need to be able to test a single web-application with multiple versions of PHP (5.2, 5.3, etc) and multiple versions of MySQL (5.0, 5.1, 5.5, etc). It shall be hosted on a FreeBSD server. My idea is to compile each version into a directory structure and running them on separate portnumbers.
